I had a bill in collections from GC Services Limited Partnership. I paid this bill November 11,2006. It is now March 13, 2007 and my payment was never sent to the original biller, they claim they never received my money. I have a confirmation number and a bank statement showing the payment made, and they still insist payment was not made, and would not make any effort to correct the problem. Due to GC Services Limited Partnership mistake my credit report has a dent in it that they refuse to fix. They fought with me about the payment made, screamed and cursed at me and kept hanging up the phone. They would not let me speak to a supervisor or another employee. Instead GC Services Limited Partnership would put me on speaker phone and talk slanderously. My money has been stolen and is still floating around in there pocket. There is no correcting this because they will not answer the phone or let someone else know the situation so it can be correct. GC Services Limited Partnership are thieves!

GC Services is full of horrible debt collectors who DO NOT CARE about the circumstances surrounding your situation. They will threaten and bully you until they get your banking information and can collect on the debt. What I would like to know is how they can be held accountable?

These jacks called me and it was the wrong number, and they insisted that it wasn't and kept calling after the fact, like 5 times. Unbelievable! They wouldn't tell me where they were calling from and of course I called back and its GC services. They kept calling me a different name and they said don't lie it is you. I was about to flip my lid...they asked if I know some other name, and I said no...They said "c'mon don't lie you know this person" I was about to go ape **** on this dude. I feel bad if they actually get a hold of the person. I thought this stuff was illegal.

I owed money all over the place and I acknowledge that fact. I was homeless for a while with no way to pay these debts back so I did what I could to get by for a while. Now that I am back on my feet I am doing my best to work with credit agencies but I get a lot of collection agency folks that don't believe me or don't care. That's fine. Whatever. I can deal with that. They probably hear a lot of bullcrap all day.

GC Services is in charge of one of my overdue tickets from 3 years ago that eventually suspended my license. When I was financially stable again I went online to find out what I owed. I was more than willing to work out a payment plan. I'm probably one of the easier consumers to work with. I called in because there was no address to mail payments to. A young man informed me that I could do an automatic payment over the phone using my checking account info. I said I would rather pay with a check via mail for my own records and after strongly insisting he huffed and was a bit rude with me. I told him that if they want me to pay, which I was more than willing to do, then they would have to provide an address. He gave me some P.O. Box in Baldwin Park, CA. (I grew up in the area.) I send an initial payment via the website and three payments via mail with a letter accompanying each check. Each time I have asked for a statement listing my payment with the balance due and have not received anything. I am keeping track of my payments very carefully. Hopefully they are too.

I never answer unknown numbers and U.S. consumers shouldn't either. 800 #'s are always trouble. Pay your bills and try to work things out in a reasonable time frame. Balance your budget ahead of time and stop spending money you don't have. Clip coupons if you have to in able to get by. Don't be too proud to take the bus to save money. You don't want to become one of those people that lose their homes and their dignity like I did before finally admitting you need to change your lifestyle.

I am amazed that so many people have the time to write paragraph after paragrah about how they can't stand dealing with collection agencies. If you have that kind of time on your hands, get a job, or a second job, and pay the money back that you took. There is no way that you think your excuses are acceptable reasons for not paying your bills, do you? It sounds like the majority of the people that have these problems are doing nothing but validating reason why they are not paying. If you would have communicated with the original creditors, you would't be delaing with collection agencies. Stop hiding and own up to your responsibilities. Be accountable for your mistakes. The creditor / agencies has the right to decline your weak attempt to resolve YOUR problems. Follow the rules for once. Why do you think they had you sign a contract beofre taking the money. You knew this day was coming. Own up to it or file bankruptcy.

My daughter was late paying a Citicard account by less than 30 days. She had lost her job and was making arrangements to pay the account when GC Services started calling me. They told me that they had her permission to speak to me about the account. In truth - they did not have her permission and they should not have been talking to me. When I asked them to play the conversation for me where my daughter had given them permission to discuss this matter with me, they told me that they had too many recordings to go through. I was speaking to both a representative and a supervisor. Afte many harrassing phone calls, I took care of my daughter's account. She still gets bills from Citicard showing that she owes money - as though GC Services never applied the payment. I cannot get anyone to talk to me about the matter.

To make matters worse, in addition to harrassing me. They were harrassing my daughter and upset her so much she went into early labor and almost lost her unborn baby. The doctor at the hospital told her that the early labor was caused by stress. The only stress was that she was being harrassed by GC Services.

I just laugh when collection agency such as this one, purchase a debt that has been off my credit report for 2 years. Of course they try every tactic in the book to get you to pay money that you never owed in the first place. Try as you may, you won't get a dime from me. I can't wait for your next call.

I spoke to Gc serices about 2-3 weeks ago. I found an account hat was not mine on my credit report. It was for only 53 dollars so I opted to pay it off because it made my credit score plummet by more than 65 points. i was told by the man tha as sson as I pay it off my credit score would raise. Well it didn't I had asked them to take the collctions off of my credit but was told in return, before I paid them, that if anything my credit score would raise due to the fact that I had paid off the debt. Well, of course, it didn't. I am so upset that they lied tome about this. This was not even my bill that I paid off. I am going to call them one more time tomorrow and ask them to take it off my credit report. I know this is fruitless and I shouldn't waste my time but I am going to try anyways. If they do it then I will let everyone know.

Regardless of financial difficulties that do occur in time, you have to understand that at the time of taking out the money you took, it is still owe and for all anyone knows, you could have been in a financial hardship or sick or just fine. As harsh as it sounds, it isn't an excuse to deny your financial responsibility. It is just like paying your phone bill or your rent and so forth. A debt is a debt, whether its a bill for a service or a loan. The bottom line is, you have to pay it back, especially if you are in a collection agency. It won't stop until it's paid. It's the same as if you neglected your phone bill. It gets shut off, you don't pay it back, they put you into collections.

You see, this is the reason why America is in a recession. The Iraq War is a minor excuse (I'm not Republican, so, don't start that ### crap), but it is our spending that is killing us as well. Debtors take out more than they can chew and the government has to pay that back then expect you to pay it back because you promised to (using a student loan, for example) pay it back. That KILLS the economy because this money isn't growing on trees, its coming from the system that many Americans are claiming is bad and trying to fight. Spending and over-withdrawing and buying things that you don't need or can't afford is just downright irresponsibility on your parts. WE ALL ARE GUILTY OF IT, BUT MORESO, THE ONES THAT DO NOT PAY IT BACK ARE KILLING US!

How do I know all of this? I've got a friend in collections and I read everyone myself. I even thought this before, while I was in debt (not default, thank goodness) for a student loan, that I have to pay it back one way or another. I had to borrow from family and friends, it was embarassing, but I got it done and I paid them back and they didn't even want me to give them the full amount I owed! I SAVED MONEY BECAUSE I HAVE GOOD FRIENDS!

I know, ### happens, people die, suffer, lose jobs, etc. Tell the truth though, is it the "system's" fault or is it your own? Are you really a responsible person or just wanting to shift your blame to someone else? Ask yourself that before you comment, or just keep being idiots and blame others for your issues. No wonder you're in debt to begin with.

That sounds about right. And when ^she^ says that if you question ANYTHing then they hang up. I got hung up on each time I called back with questi0ns in reference to the way they try to get you to say you legal entity(your name) then they say, "This call is an attempt to collect a debt..." and so on. That is a decepttive practise used in order to get a consumer to give up their claim of right. I laugh after they hang up on me, by the way I got hung on by 3 different managers on sepreate occasions.

I understand people who fail to pay their bills are ultimately to blame, but GC Services are still ###. I sent the court a traffic ticket fine on time, but the court was busy and did not credit me quickly enough. It went to GC Services and I got their letter in the mail.

I called GC immediately and explained that the ticket was paid on time. They did not care, assumed I was lying, and said I was foolish for mailing my check to the court. Here's the unprofessional part : they failed to check the court online payment docs, which would have told them it was already paid, but was erroneously turned over to them. They recommended I pay them immediately over the phone -- right then -- and cancel my check to the court, so I paid them and planned to go to my bank the next morning.

When I went to my bank to cancel the ticket payment check -- as per GC Services "advice" -- I found out it had just cleared! I had now paid twice for the same ticket, plue huge penalties that GC Services had added. I called the court to figure out what was up and they apologized. The court asked me to get in touch with GC Services and get a refund / cancellation of the double payment. Simple, right?

What did GC Services do? They STILL refused to verify ANYTHING and said they were keeping the money. I was told to "go to through the court to get my money back." When I told GC Manager that the court just asked them to drop the charges, he accused me of lying about everything. I explained that the ticket payment being made on time and subsequent 'case closed' was a matter of public record that he coudl verify by checking the online database. I offered that I was able to verify EVERYTHING by simply calling, giving them my ticket number and that was it.

When I asked to speak to a superior, the GC employee said he would, then put me on hold. He came back and then told me to "Forget it. You're not speaking with anyone else. I could put you in touch with the president of the company and we're still keeping your money." He then hung up on me. By knowingly keeping an erroneously issued payment, GC Services is now guilty of fraud.

Its actually kind of sad. These people deal with so many deadbeats, they have become even more slimy and disgusting.

It is interesting that GC employees find it necessary to defend their position when in fact they are an overly aggressive company that hound people that do not owe the moneys they are attempting to collect. For example, they are going after those that were enticed into coming to visit a Las Vegas real estate share program, listen to them spew their sales dialog and if you didn't want to follow through by purchasing one of their condos they they would give you some tickets and take care of your motel/hotel accommodations. That was supposed to be the end of it, but then four years later they attempt to collect $400 each from those that chose not to purchase. Now who is the crook? If this isn't fraud or pure and simple stealing then I don't know what is. After all, they contact the potential idiot that takes them up on their offer. These share programs go on all over the United States where there is high tourist trade and none of them try to coerce money from their "visitors."

I believe this is the rudest, most unprofession company that I've ever tried to talk to.
They compared my husband, and I to animals, and said that some people deserved to be treated like animals. They made fun of us because we live in a trailer. No one deserves to be treated like this. I wish there was something that someone could do to put this bunch of disrespectful people out of business.

THEY TOLD ME THAT IF I DONT PAY, THEY WERE GOING TO GARNISH MY WAGES FOR A SCHOOL LOAN. THEY COULDNT EVEN TELL ME THE NAME OF THE SCHOOL OR WHAT THE MONEY WAS USED FOR. HE WAS ARROGANT AND PUSHY. I JUST TOLD THEM TO SEND PROOF. THEY SAID THAT THEY WANT A PICTURE OF MY DRIVERS LICENSE AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARD AND I TOLD THEM HE'S FULL OF SH**. THEY SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS. THIS CARL GUY SOUNDS LIKE HE'S A DICK. I KEPT TELLING HIM THIS IS A SCAM AND I HUNG UP ON HIM AND HE CALLED AGAIN AND I TOLD HIM TO GO F*** HIMSELF AND I'LL TAKE HIM TO COURT.

Your right it is a personal issue which is why she told you it was regarding a personal matter. If you ask the company name, they do have to give that to you but you were the one that took it upon yourself to look up the company to find out it was collections. So the rep did absolutely nothing wrong, if anything you were the nosey one who wanted to look it up to see who was calling for them. And it is not illegal to call a neighbor, you can only do it some many times. And in regards to the last comment by Sarah, they use an automatic dialing systems which at times is delayed so by the time you pick up the phone the dialer could have already disconnected itself, its not the person on the other end.

i think that gc services is a great company. most of these complaint letters come from people that are upset because they dont want to pay there bill then they sit here and complain about the economy being so bad its becase they spend so much money on credit then fail to pay it back. If they would just manage there money instead of spending it on things they really dont need ( luxurys ) they would not be in this possition in the first place. Because they tell you to pay a bill dosent make them bad people.

GC Services are a bunch of crooks. These guys are "PATHETIC" you must really need a job to work there. They are in serious violations of FTC collection practices. I am reprsenting several clients in a lawsuit against this so called collection agency. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. If you owe a debt with them, send a money order and keep receipts. I will keep you updated..

Nobody goes to jail if you use FDCPA. It only results in financial penalty. If you're serious about getting CG Services then file a lawsuit for extortion because that's really what they are doing. Extortion is a felony. FDCPA violations are bandaids.

I do not like dealing with this company either! My husband has made monthly payments for the last two years on his student loans. lol... they say after 4 months of consecutive payments that you can go back to school. It has been over two months and he hasn't gotten the information back. Even though, I MAKE on time monthly payments out of my checking account. They still call daily! I am so sick of dealing with these awful people. If I make my payments on time then they shouldn't call at all. Other than that, I am nervous that they are going to sell, give away my debit card information. Also, they refuse to differ the student loan. Which is really strange because I have had mine on differment due to true hardship. It is really strange. I want to contact the lender directly and confirm with them about the loan and differement topics. By the way I agree with most of the other people's points. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with these people, go back to the source of the debt, if you know who it is. Let the original debtor know how you were treated by these people. also what debt collectors don't realize that some people have legitimate reasons that they can't pay the bill. Meaning that they might be on public assistance... and only get $500 and that is most people's rent. I think that there has to be empathy on both people's parts. Also if you are being harassed by these people and don't owe a debt. Call the original company that they say you owe. Complain to them the situation.
Have a great day.

This company continues to call my house after I have told them numerous times that the person they are looking for doesn't live here, my mother . They are telling me and my wife that they are authorized to talk to me. Suposedly I am a user on some AMX card- I've never had this card. I'm not sure what's going on here but they are rude to me, they lie, they are plain frustrating! I have told them to take our name and number off several times- sometimes they hang up on me and sometimes they tell me they will remove our number, only to call again anyway. They refuse to give the phone to a supervisor, they refuse to give out their first names. I am at a loss- I don't know what to do. It's frustrating and annoying. Is there anything we can do to insure they don't call again? What exactly is the law regarding this situation? Can we get his name off the account as a user?

It all really boils down to people trying to get away from paying their bills. I used to work for GC services and not one of my employees or supervisors ever yelled at, cursed, belittled or harassed a debtor. Now as for them calling your family or neighbors they are just trying to track you down. When GC gets a new account they don't "buy" them, we work the delinquent accounts for various companies, such as Sprint, Home Depot, Sears, to name a few. Now by the time we get these accounts they are seriously past due, over 6 to 9 months that no payment has been made and we are the third collection agency to handle them. So come on people don't shoot the messenger, we are hired by companies that just want their money for goods or services that were rendered. It would be so much easier for everyone to just make arrangements with the original creditor to begin, but no they choose to hide, alas that is where "the evil credit collectors come in".

I am reporting them to the Attorney General because of the harassment they have been putting toward me. They INSISTED that I allow them to take the money from my account, which I did, then they stopped taking payments without notifying me, and then say they are going to wage garnishment. I have paid 18, 000.00 in ONE YEAR and they want to do a WAGE GARNISHMENT? I only owe $5, 000.00 more...in addition...they talked to the HR person at the company I work at and told her how they are going to garnish my wages...ILLEGAL MUCH? And as for harassment, I won't even get into the things that were said to me! I have cried and cried and cried over these people! This is a student loan bill that I owe on, and I paid off all of my student loans, except for this one...which I didn't realize there was one left...you know there are so many "different" loans when you go to college...then I moved, and didn't forward my mail for other reasons that have nothing to do with bills, then GC comes at me like a freight train! The ONLY reason I stopped making payments is because they stopped taking them and didn't tell me. I'm going through legal channels! If anyone else has what they feel to be a legal case against this institution, please get back to me on this site! I am sending out my letter to the Attorney General tomorrow!

Posted by JOHN SMITH:unfortunately they have to track people down. so they call you because of the deralicts that you choose to associate with. maybe you should tell your friends how to pay their bills since you seem to do such a fine job of it yourself
#1 VERY original name to go by John Smith..lol
#2 The comments made by supposed GC Employees defending GC.
#3 How professional of these people who go by the "rules, laws and regulations" that they are supposed to by posting comments on a web forum
#4 These "employees" didn't keep their cool very long in the comments either..lol
I never heard of a collection agency or any place attempting to collect a bill to find out who you associate with to collect a debt. If you owe a debt and you give a contact number of someone to verify you are legit and to contact to find you if you don't pay then yes but they have no right looking into who you associate with and harass them and label them as derelicts. That classifies as stalking. So, the employee that responded " maybe you should tell your friends how to pay their bills since you seem to do such a fine job of it yourself" is ignorant.
These people do harass because my boyfriend has been dealing with them calling him at work and they call the house 9 times a day every day. They call 3 times in the morning, 3 in the afternoon and 3 in the early evening. They have no right telling you you have no reason to not owe a bill and tell you you have to pay them or else. Or else what? Is there is further action then take it. You don't sit and belittle someone to pay or else. If all the derelicts got a pep talk from their friends who can and do pay their bills and converted them in to on time bill payers then the rude, belligerent, sneaky, illiterate (seeing as they can not spell big words they use to threaten you correctly) collection agency workers would be without a job. Maybe the ones who take their jobs a little too seriously and get belligerent should lose their jobs and they will know what it is like to be without and struggle to pay bills. I know it is not their job to feel sorry for people as to why they are in debt but it is also not their job to degrade people either. I wonder if GC has awards they give to their employees for being the most belligerent? "John Smith" may just win after all. Just keep your chin up and don't give up little buddy. Hard work always pays off. Maybe invest in a megaphone to get your voice level way up there will do the trick and a spit guard for the phone? You want to get just a tad louder than your coworkers and a megaphone I believe is the next loudest.

I completely understand that it is my fault for not making the payments on time and getting over my head in debt. My life really is exactly like the movie, "Confessions of a Shopaholic." I work at a bank and yet i have no money management skills for myself. I'm just like every other young girl in America, I love to spend spend spend! I get a naturally high from shopping. These credit card companies know this and suck young girls like me in. So basically I had a rough month in March and was looking for that natural high, so I went on a crazy spending spree and spent $2000 and maxed out my credit card. For some reason i assumed that this credit card company was just doing automatic withdrawals from my account, but no it was another credit card of mine doing the withdrawals. I never checked on it because I was traveling all around the country with my boyfriend’s band for the spring and part of the summer. When I got home my mother, who is a reformed shopaholic, told me that someone from GC Services was trying to get in contact with me and this man was just here to help me. So I called thinking that this man was going to help me out, and to my surprise he was the biggest ### hole and had no intention of helping me out, just making my life miserable. He was completely rude and asking me questions about my mother that was absolutely none of his business, nor does she have anything to do with my situation! He also kept saying what a bad employee I am for being in debt and working at a bank, well I honestly don't give a ###. I'm only working at the bank as a teller part time while I am in school for psychology. I have no interest in working in banking its boring and I don’t want to work with a bunch of ###s like the employees at GC services. Also who the hell are you to tell me that? Stop lecturing me like you’re my dad! Now I totally understand that their job is to get people to pay their bills but in doing so there is no reason to treat us like ###! I hate when people treat me like ### and judge me, thinking that I deserve less because I made an honest mistake. To me it doesn’t matter if you’re a millionaire or living from paycheck to paycheck…we are all the same…people in this world with goals and dreams living our lives in one way or another. GC services employee’s treated me with zero respect and talked down to me. There is absolutely no reason for that. There is a way to get people to pay their bills by being professional and respectful; it might actually be more effective! And to everyone on here who is putting us down for complaining about this company saying “you’re just trying to get out of paying you bills and being responsible, ” that’s not true at all. I am not complaining that I don’t want to take responsibility and pay my bill; I am complaining that GC services’ employees are the most unprofessional, disrespectful, ###s that I ever had to deal with. So with that said, here is a tip GC Services, fix your attitudes and try showing some respect. You never know what people are dealing with and why they can’t pay their bills, not to many people just don’t pay their bills because they don’t feel like it. Also stop asking questions about my personal life, your job is to get me to pay what I owe not ask me questions about my mother and other unrealted things.

Wow! I am glad GC Services would not answer their phones because I googled them and found all of this! They have sent my mother a statement showing she owes $25.00 for a check that cleared the bank back in February this is now September. I love it when d/a low lifes do things like this. I own my own real estate business and I help take care of my parents due to my father having suffered a stroke a few years ago. When I see things such as this it gets my blood presure up around boiling point. I love the fact that they are tuff guys on the phone knowing damn well the guy who places these calls and works for chump change is also wearing a medium shirt. I typed my letter enclosed another letter inside that that would appear to be a check but is just a blank sheet of paper with a big F*** You! Please excuse me as I hate telephone tuff guys in medium shirts.

You know, this all reminds me of when my grandmother died. She had a couple of credit card debts totalling a few thousand dollars. She had nothing left her in her esate, so she didn't have anything to "give away" to anyone, leaving no one responsible for her debt. My father called the collection agency and explained that his mother passed, and he was willing to pay them a thousand five hundred dollars, the amount that she would have owed without interest. He was doing this because he was trying to do the right thing for his mother...not have her leave a bad name. He was in NO WAY responsible for my grandmother's debt. The guy on the phone said they would not except that as payment in full. Dad told them that he was doing this as a service and he didn't HAVE to pay a cent. The guy got beligerent, and told him to pay the entire bill. So dad tried to explain to him, you accept the $1500.00 as payment in full or you will collect NOTHING because she is DEAD! They wouldn't...the bull ### bureacracy and red tape has made companies lose all common sense. So instead of accepting the amount they were truly out...they demanded all the finance and late charges from someone who didn't even owe them a dime! It was completely senseless.

Are you kidding me? The best way to deal with these idiots is to not talk to them, not give them even a shred of information to use against you. They are not going to play fair. The more you cooperate with them, the more they will take advantage of you. Don't believe a word they say. They are liars, snakes in the grass. They prey on the innocent. They called me looking for a relative that lives in Arizona. I am stationed in NC and that relative has never been here or visited. They just saw "googled" the last name and figured that they could call and harrass me and that I would gather personal information on that person for them. They have called neighbors and asked them to go leave messages for people "HARRASSMENT". If you give them your social Security #, they will attach it to someone else's debt and try to collect the debt from you even if you don't know the person. My best advice is to not cooperate at all with these crooks and scammers. If you owe a debt then pay it to whoever you owe. Don't give anything to these people. It amazes me how they get away with their scam. I wish congress would secure our information. Anybody can find out any information on anyone on the internet. So much for privacy. Congress! pass some meaningful legislation for a change and outlaw the gathering of personal information for databases. You have sold out our right to privacy so someone can make a buck. Are we going to continue to stand for this? I don't know about you but it infuriates me. So much for anti terrorism. If you feel safe it is a false sense of security. The terrorist's have their own databases which are loaded with information on us gathered off the internet. The scam artists are the least of our worries. Gunnery Sergeant G USMC

If you give GC services even a dime, you are a huge fool. Pay your debts on time but if you default and want to make it right, send your money to the original company that you owed. They will take your money. Don't pay GC a red cent. If you do you will be scammed. Good Luck, Be smart and don't take any of their S*!T. You don't deserve to be treated that way. No one does. LOL GC Services, Be warned. Don't do it!

GC Service Legal dept [protected] or [protected] Fax [protected]. I suggest to people who being harassed especially when they are not the one who owes the debt to contact an attorney and sue. Get all on a tape recording and make sure you tell them you are recording ( it is illegal to record anyone who is not made aware). For those who do owe a debt again record calls because even if you owe the debt they are not legally allowed to treat you any way they want.
And to you GC service employees who keep posting comments #1 You must think something wrong is going on with your company for you to search for their name and find this site. #2 I am not a debtor, dont know the debtor however you keep harassing me and my family and giving personal info on the debtor to me. Incase you didnt know all illegal. And i suggest the employees listen to someone when they are told they are being recorded especially when you never know if who you are speaking with is a lawyer. :)

I guess if you can afford a lawyer, you can afford to pay your bill. I agree that no one should be treated disrespectfully, but you should definitely make an attempt to resolve your debt. All I see are excuses for you not to pay your bill, and how they called you and told you that you had to pay... well duh! It's your obligation to pay if you used the money. This is why our country is going to sh it! I was laughing at the girl who traveled with her boyfriends band and thinks that you can max out your card and think that everything is great. You're an idiot, and I pray that you don't finish school because you can't even control your own life much less tell people how to manage theirs. Make payment arrangements or settlement offers people. I promise it will help your credit score.
