Dear Gulf Air,
I am sending this email relating the the above mentioned flights to Thailand and the changes made shortly before the due outbound departure.
I booked these flights for myself, Kane Turner and my cousin James Radcliffe for the sole purpose of travelling to Thailand to celebrate an elderly relative's surprise 90th birthday party. Upon booking, the flight it was supposed to arrive in Bangkok on the morning of 30.12.2024 with a 2 hour lay over in Bahrain, it was due to depart Manchester at 10.30am on 29.12.24.
On the morning of 28.12.24 I logged in to check in but noticed that I was unable to check in as now the flight info was showing a departure of 9.20pm, with a layover of 16 hours in Bahrain and arrival in Thailand on 31.12.2024 - a full day after the original flight schedule meaning that we missed the very event we were travelling for!
This was massively inconvenient and upsetting for not just me and Jams but our extended family in Thailand also who were so looking forward to seeing the joy in my uncles face when he set eyes on us at the big surprise, there had been no emails sent to me to advise of this change, it was all very confusing.
After checking the live arrivals and departures on Saturday evening we decided that we would get to the airport earlier than necessary to go and speak to someone at the Gulf Air desk. When we got there we were advised that the staff there were not in any position to assist us with our enquiries and that we should email the airline directly.
To further add insult to injury, I have recently received an email offering chargeable flight upgrades. I have been travelling to Thailand regularly for the past 10 years although this is the first time that I have used Gulf Air and unfortunately this has not left a very good impression on us.
I would be very grateful to understand why I was not notified of the change to flight schedule as soon as it was made, as previously mentioned, I have not received any emails before speaking with staff at the desk in Manchester airport. They forwarded me an email with the amended flight schedule at 6.22pm on the day of travel.
Please kindly upgrade both myself and James Radcliffe's flights for the complete journey home on Thursday 23.01.25 by way of allowing compensation for the major inconvenience to resolve this issue fairly for all concerned, this way we will be more likely to consider using your company again for any other future trips that we make.
I look forward to hearing back from you,
Kind regards,
Kane Turner
