I contend that Houzz, Inc, an online vendor and a representative of Casual Home Worldwide, Inc. of Amityville, Suffolk County NY knowingly engaged in the practice of false advertising as set forth below
On 30 JUNE 2023 I ordered #2 directors chairs from internet vendor Houzz, described and pictured as "wide 18"" and "solid American Oak hardwood" construction.
I received 24" wide chairs with 18" canvas seats and backs and constructed in part with edge-glued and finger jointed wood. Both are in stark contrast to the online description and pictures provided by Houzz,Inc which show a completely opened and functional chair without edge-glued or fingerjointed components. Pictures documenting the online description of the product contrast starkly with pictures showing the flaws in the products received, substantiating my claim
Over the month following my purchase three emails stating my concerns and requesting resolution (including but not limited to return of items to be paid for by Houzz) were submitted. They included copies of a Houzz-generated order confirmation and screen shots of the original checkout page and pictures of the item received. After more than 1 month Houzz ultimately offered a full refund if I pay for return shipping, which amounts to slightly less than 50% of the purchase price.
Also, the fact that neither Houzz nor its supplier refused to accept complete responsibility for its error in shipping the misrepresented items, as well as the fact that I would have to pay ~50% of the cost of the two items in return shipping charges (the famous "one-way trap") is, in my estimation, typical of fraudulent internet "bait and switch" scams.
