Living 63 miles from the city has its advantages as well as disadvantages. Advantage: By the time I get home from my commute, I am usually decompressed and relaxed. Disadvantage: When I have a bad customer experience, it gives me time to crystallize my thoughts. Yesterday I looked into my closet and decided it was time for new suits. Being economically...

I went to jcpenney salon at fair oaks mall, fairfax, virginia on sunday, june 21, 2009 and saw mina. She ruined my hair, not just the color, but the texture and structure. It's not even repairable. You can just see where almost every strand on the top of my head was broken off. I wanted my hair lightened a shade or two. I specifically told her that I did not want my hair red whatsoever! It's very dark brown. Well, it turned out red. I've been dying my hair almost every day since with semi-perm haircolor and it won't even take any color. It's still red. I hate it... It'll take years to get the broken hair to grow out and not have little hairs sticking up all over the top of my head.
Never again! What a horrible place, horrible experience and absolutely horrible hairdresser! Don't go to jcpenney salons, ever! This hairdresser even stood there and tried to defend herself to her collegues that she did what I asked. Horrible! I cried for hours and my hair will be messed up for months. I've had over 50 people ask me what happened to my hair. It's absolutely awful. She should have her license revoked!

I needed new glasses in a hurry, the "thick" metal frame around my lenses cracked at the corner and would no longer hold the lense. I had previously purchased this pair and another pair of glasses from JC Penney and thought I might try them again. I looked online and saw that they had a special of 2 pair of glasses for $129, for frames valued up to $130/pr. I looked online to see what frames they had available, and found several, however, when I called my local JC Penney, they informed me that they only had one of the the three frames I selected and only in pink. I asked how much the frames were that they did have, well they were $159, so I made the appointment for the exam.
Everything was fine except when it came to selecting the frames and settling the bill. The only frames available @ $130 or less were of subpar quality at best so I wound up purchasing frames @ $230 and $160, plus $30/pr for lineless bifocals, and asked them to be expedited because I could not continue wearing glasses secured with a rubberband around the lense. I asked the sales person to explain the break-down of my now $318 bill, a far cry from $130 (not including the exam mind you). I didn't feel the sales person was very qualified to mark my lenses for the location of the bifocal, because she couldn't figure out how to expedite my glasses on the computer system, nor could she explain the details of my bill. She assured me that she would expedite my glasses "manually" by leaving her manager a note. Well needless to say, the glasses were not expedited, as the manager explained to me that once it's in the computer, the shipment of glasses couldn't be changed. The glassses were "hostage" to whatever was put in the "computer" and the only way to get this done was to re-enter the order, for which the manager did not do, why I don't know, but she didn't.
I received a call from JCP Optical the next business day telling me that they couldn't get clarity of my insurance, in addition the $40 optical exam I was quoted on the phone and ultimately had, would now cost me $85, with a ten dollar discount so it would only be $75. Asked for the manager, she told me the salesperson made a mistake and in fact it would be $40 as I had been quoted previously. The only reason I didn't pay for it when I had the exam is because the salesperson could figure out what phone number to call on the back of my insurance card, and when she did the offices were closed.
The manager asked that I call back on Monday to check the status of my glasses as she would do her level best to get my glasses to me in FOUR BUSINESS DAYS, as I had been promised. Well, I called on Monday, my glasses should be to me on Tuesday evening or Wednesday, however the proceeds to tell me that they might be ready on FRIDAY! She says this almost laughing, so much so that I commented on the fact that I know she thinks this is funny, but it is not.
My hands are tied, I am forced to walked around with rubberbanded lenses, for NINE DAYS hopefully, less. The manager asked that I call back tomorrow to check the status.
Signed,
So mad I can't see straight (literally)

I plcaed an order with j. C. Pennys. The girl on the phone told me that if i was willing to look over the rwards program i would recieve $25.00 off my electric bill and $10.00 off my order. I recieved the paperwork read through it. Decided it was not for me. I called jc pennys reward of the pawork to get $10.00 off. The woman said she would send me the paperwork, that was 2 weeks ago. Also she said you only get the elctric benefit if i signed up permanently forthe program. I am very disappointed with this whole transaction. I would like my $10.00 taken off my account and feel that since i called my electric company to get a copy to send in and also the girl told me i would get thii should. I am not going to argue that one, byt i must say i had problems before with jc pennys and it's been a very long time since i've done business with them and i am truly disappointed. Please resond.

Yes, i would like to address and issue i reason had at your merced, ca store. I purchased a leather jacket there in november, unknown to me i had received the wrong size. I do a lot of shopping at jcpennys in store or online. Now the tag on the jacket stated that it was and extra large, good you had my size and style. The first time i wear the jacket it felt a little snug, we all know that leather needs to stretch. I did not think to look at the tag on the inside of my coat which said this was a large and not and xl like the one i saw on the outside tag. Now my receipt clearly states that i have until 01-09-09 to return my merchandise, when i took the jacket back to the merced mall jcpennys where i bought it at i was told by the floor manager that they could not exchange the item, because i wear it, yeah i wear it i thought i had the correct size, so why wouldn’t i wear it. I tried to explain to her that my receipt clearly states that i have up until jan 1, 2009 to make and exchange or request a refund. She told me that this is a corp. Policy and or store does not go by this. Now i am a little upset and confused, how can you say you will not honor my receipt when it came from your store if this was the case i feel they need to but something in writing that they do not follow under the corp guidelines or what ever there receipt states. All i wanted was to get my correct size, so that i could enjoy wearing my jacket.
Thank in advance for your time in this matter and happy holiday's
A truly disappointed customer
This store, has the worst reputation for discriminating against African-American men, who are better employees! The female store managers continue to pick up for lousy women who usually tend to be the bad employees, actively discriminating against men, and deliberately making work environment hostle for good sales personnel (esp. when they are men)! It's not fair, by law; men couldn't get away with attacking or discriminating against women, but in Georgia-Carolina (esp. at JC Penney), is is not only encouraged- but ALSO ENFORCED! Then when the men lose their jobs, or go from job to job, or whined up in jail- for lack of employment; SOCIETY SAYS IT'S HIS FAULT!?! JC Penney, is a lousy retail store, that continues to get worse, thats why I stopped shopping there since last year!
I owed 300 dollars to pay off my credit card for the JC penney company. A man called me and told me to pay and i told him i am aware i am 6 months late on paying my bill and would not have the money for 4 weeks. He told me that i was fat and lazy and probably ate food in bed watching t.v. all day. He told me that a lowlife degenerate like me will never make it in life because i cant pay my bill. He then went on to say that i didnt answer his questions fast enough and that was because i stutter and my father must have abused me and my mother hated me since birth.
I do not stutter i was just amazed at what he was saying. He called me a drug user and that no man would ever want me because i procrastinate. This may seem like it could not have happened but it sure did. I called the JC penney customer call line to give his name but i was directed to their line in India and i did leave a complaint about what happened but all i got was someone telling me thank you for calling. I have since forgotten the incident but sometimes it creeps up and i cant imagine how this man wakes up in the morning, he must eat steel wool for breakfast and then take it out on the telephone. I have his name but he may not work for the company anymore.
When I was divorced there was no balance on my credit card thru JcPenney. It was not mentioned in the divorce since neither of us were aware it was still active. I went to apply for a card and was told I all ready had an active account, so I dug out my old records and found my credit card. I used it to purchase a few minor things, the bill came to me in my ex-husbands name and mine. I tried to call them, write them, email them to have my ex's name removed. I was told he was primary and I couldn't remove his name, change the name on the account or close the account. If I couldn't close the account, I could not open my own account. Since he refuses to answer any of my requests to close the account or contact them to change over to my name, I was unable to do anything. 2 years after our separation and divorce he finally had his mailing address changed and the bills went to him. My number was contact so they started calling me. There was just a minor balance on my account, less than $100. In this same month I had ran a credit check and found out the past year of timely payments meant to increase my credit rating was not listed, I contacted them and was told it was because he was primary, it went on his credit history. I was pissed, I not only had not received any credit rating on this account I was paying on, I helped him out! Then no one was able to take his name off the bill so it would come to me, so every bill and notice went to his home and he didn't respond to them, send them back to me or make any attempt to finish this matter.
I have stopped paying on the bill - since my credit rating is not improved, but his is, I can't get a bill sent to me, can't close the account, can't get one on my own, EVERY letter I sent to them - on my letterhead with my name and address was answered by a Dear MR XXXXX, I don't exist to JcPenney. I gave them his attorney' s name and address, told them to contact him and was told they could not discuss matters with someone not on the card without the primary (my ex!) giving them permission.
The sad thing is I am the one who opened the account in my name years ago, he was secondary, so I could develop my own line of credit. When it came in his name I was told by customer service this is the way they do business, it goes to the "head of the house" and being married made him head of household. Little did I know all those years ago it would come back and haunt me.
My Complaint Is about my salon manager . She is unfair and plays favorits twards other assosiates. Company Expects you to have a 18.50 a month quota or you will get a corretion, understanding that is easy but when the economy is down its hard to keep your quota up, alot of our business is by walk in / call in clientell and there is suppose to be a list of who get the first walk in/ call in, Well the main receptionist and the manager have there own way of doing things they feel they can give walk ins/ call ins to who ever can kiss up the most insteed on following the line up. I have had Clients call me that were refered by close friends say when they called to make a appointent knowing I was open on piticular day and time that the receptionist tried to place them with anyone but me, because of this it is hurting my business my client called and made a complaint to the store manager because the salon manager was on vacation, no actions were taking to dicuss this because it is still happening. More Proof On busy days working the same hours as other stylist that also have open books they recive 3 times more the walk in/ call ins that I have recived more proof is that There are monthly revenu reports and year to date revenu reports that anyone can view and it shows a % of walk ins / call in and our clients that were refered to you comparing to another assosiate that started working after me and has the same hours her year to date report she was assigned 133 new clients when I was assigned 93 new clients . the clients that returned to her for more services were 100 and the clients that returned to me were 89 it shows that im am able to keep returning clients. the percentage of clients that requested her 47.3% the percentage of the clients that requested me were 55.2% The clients that were assigned to her was 52.7% and the clients that were assigned to me were 44.8 precent the numbers do not lie ! On other proof one reseptionist told me that my manager goes up to her and says make sure you give her alot of walk ins as in the other assosiate. In other cases My manager has Denied that I have came to her and talked about whats going on and kept her informed about information in the salon. I thought Jc pennys is suppose to be honest and fair and loyal to there employees because if it wernt for us they wouldnt have a business Im very discusted with the way managment is running the store and the salon !
this all startd on Oct 09 I wne to get 2 pr of glasses 1 reading and 1 sun glasses...fater they broke one pr and having me go back and forth 10 times from the country rural area into town..nothignwas right..wrong script, 3 times changed glasses 3 times . all taken 2-3 wks at a time...while my cerdit card was being charged I finally had to get my money back as the glasses didnt not work.( hence time/money/car gas.)
now last mont Apr.-10 Im try'n again.as i have to use my pennys card to get eye glasses...new Dr gave me a different eye exam. wasnt even close to the first 3 ( by the way that Dr quit), So now its taken 2 wks for my new glasses and they told me they wont send in my sun glasses till they find out my script is corretc and will work...so ok thats fine..But for all the time /money/car gas un trips Ive made since Oct 09..I think I should be compistated for all this un get my sun glasses fer free...plus I went in on that 2 for 88$ well it is costing me 520 bux. for 2 pr. ( 129 of that is becuz I orderd thin lens.) But my sun glasses should be free...DONT U THINK SO...Ive paid enuff in time /gas / plus interests on my pennys card...both times. Now we are gonna do it all over again ?

I am writing to tell you my dissatisfaction about your coupons and the items you had in stock on Black Friday at your JcPenny store in Parmatown in OH. I had my list all printed, knew the sizes and colors of everything I had to buy total would have been over $200.
My 1st stop was the shoe dept. I wanted the tall boot w/ 2 buckles as shown on the cover of you black Friday add for $29.99. Well there were only 4 boxes to choose from- none in 8.5. Then next pair of boots I wanted again not there in my size. I did get 2 pairs I wanted and I had to settle for another tall boot because as mentioned the one I wanted was not there.
Then I moved on to your $6.88 Arizona long sleeve shirts- all they had were XS and S. I found 1 L in a bright yellow. I was planning to buy at least 6 of these shirts I ended up with 1. (when I stopped in again on Sat there were plenty of sizes besides XS and S, so why were they not there on Fri?)
Then I wanted the Farberware knives that were on sale for $19.99- guess what they were out too.
Now as I stated before I knew the sizes and locations of all the items I wanted to buy, since I was there a few days ago scouting it out. When I was looking at the knives then there were only 2 boxes.
This store felt like an OUTLET on black Friday. Only carry certain sizes or totally do not have the product. I was so disappointed. JcPenny was the store I was most excited to shop at and they had nothing.
I should have bought all my stuff on line - because there it was available and this brings me to my 2nd problem.
I had a coupon printed off JCP.com that was the $20 off $100 ect. that was good for Fri and Sat - NO TIME RESTRICTIONS like the coupon in your add. I had my orders separated into 2 and I gave the girl my $20 off my $109 purchase and she said the computer would not take it because that was for after 2pm. THE COUPON DID NOT STATE THIS. My 2nd order was for over $50 and I wanted to use the $10 off coupon, but again- not allowed. I had a save $10 off $10 that I used, but I did not want to and should not have had to use that coupon at that time- it was good until Dec.
When a coupon printed from your website does not have time restrictions, then why does your staff give me a hard time.
As stated earlier, I could have purchased everything I wanted in the colors and sizes I wanted, in 2 diff orders on-line and used 2 $20off codes (because when I went home I tried the online code and there the $20 off $100 came right off at 4:30am.) I would have saved $40, but I guess JCPenny does not care how much their customers save and deffinately does not look out for them.
Just thought I would let you know about my very bad experience at your store and I cant wait to fill out that 15% survey, even if I do not use it. I am giving your store all the worst marks.
So I ask you what is JcPenny going to do for me because of this bad shopping experience?
The coupon should be honored and I should get $30 off my purchase. If I do not get a satisfactory answer to this letter, I WILL STOP shopping ay JcPenny, it is as simple as that. Oh I will also spread the word about my VERY BAD JCPENNY EXPERIENCE.
JC Penney is not a good company; they're always changing their stores to confuse customers, have different prices on one sales tag, and is constantly trying to find ways to cheat the customers or loyal shoppers; and the way the company mistreats their own employees who do a good job for them is worse! Frequently wrongfully terminating good employees or forcing them to quit, to make room for more inexperienced & unprofessional workers, who often mistreat or harass the good & hard working associates that work there. The Managers at the JC Penney Augusta Mall are incompetent, and have recently been exposing the store to robberies, endangering customers & employees...
I am a new JCPenny Credit Card customer / Account and have never been treated worse by a retailer.
I opened a C.C. and a flexible payment account a few months back. I purchased $2, 000 on the account and made a first payment of $450. The second month the min was due on the 19th of Dec.
So on the 19th I electronic checked a payment - received a confirmation. I received 4 calls that day (Due Date) asking me for payment. I was then advised that they see that I elec. paid and apologised stating that it may take a day or two to post on my account - but the account will show paid on time.
I then received call after call that day - I requested a supervisor the second call - I was assured it will stop and apology given.
Call again 3rd time - I asked for supervisor - I was assured they were sorry for calling and NOW see where I have paid - the calls are auto generated.
Fourth call - I asked for supervisor - I was given another apology and advised it will not happen again.
Then I get my statement a few days later in mail.
It states I owe 2 payments and that it is overdue!
I call on the account and I get an apology and that my account is in great standing and nothing is due - that my statement was incorrect.
Wow - I am a new customer - NEVER been late on a payment. I am being treated like a deadbeat payer or a collections account.
My wife and I have been harrassed right out of the box from JCPenny and we are the good guys...
We will be paying you off very soon and never buying another thing on our card or account from JCPenny
manager
(I sent this to jcpenneys email online)
I would like to complain about the Manager Jessica at the Avon, Ohio salon. The last 2 times I have been there when she has been working she has been very rude and unkind toward me, also the sale signs were not up the 2 times I have been there and the employees that ring in the salon do not know how to ring correctly!
The first time I went there to return something I had a receipt and the stylist that was ringing me out I guess had clicked the wrong item that I was returning and it said this was not returnable so she then called her manager Jessica. Jessica made me explain the situation even though this obviously should have been the stylist ringings job since she had been the one who was having an issue with the register but I explained it anyways. After I explained she asked if I had used it I said I tried it but it was not what I was looking for. So she tried to return the item and it worked, since she clicked the right item but she then looked at me and was like "It doesn't say that it's not returnable" like I was the one who messed up! She should have been saying this to her employee not me the customer!
A few months later...
The most recent time I went I did not have a receipt since I had lost it but I did buy it within the last 30 days. I just wanted to exchange it for something that was the same price, so therefore it was an even exchange. So Jessica came to the desk to ring me out and I told her I wanted to exchange my item for something else she asked for the receipt I told her I did not have it. She then "inspected" my returning item which happend to only be a small shampoo and accused me of using it already which I had not, and even if I had if you try it once you can always return or exchange it if you do not like it! So she looked at me before she decided to do the exchange and said I remember you from a few months back you came in without a receipt then too (which obviously I did not otherwise I wouldn't have had the situation I explained above). I said actually I had the receipt then she was like either way this is the last time you are allowed to return something here with out a receipt! I just took my bag and walked away and figured I would e-mail you on here to let you know what kind of person you have representing Jcpenneys!
Also I want to let you know I happen to work at another Jcpenneys as a receptionist so I know the rules and Jessica did not know this which means if she is treating me this way then she most likely is treating other customers this way too. The only reason I had went to this salon was the first time I had been since I bought it from there and the second time at my salon we did not have the product I wanted so I figured I could exchange it at the Avon one since I was told that they had it.
That manager needs to learn that you are allowed to return an item (provided that we still even sell that item and its not a year or so old and that you didn't use half of it), to make sure the sale signs are up, that there is someone in the front to take care of customers and good customer service!

scam
My credit card has been charge $9.95 each month since January 2009. The claim is that when I ordered online from JC Penneys that I signed up for this. I did not sign up for this membership! First, the claim is that I took advantage of a $10 discount that entered me into this - no, I paid full price, I can track my order on the JC Penney page. I did not...

I am a an employee of J C Penney at Cortana Mall and my complaint involves the mistreatment of myself and specific co-workers. Over the past three months the harassment has become unbearable with constant threats and comments from manager (supervisors) in reguards of losing our jobs due to suspicious tardies and absences evaluations. This doesn't seem to be an overall store issue and only and select few have been repremanded for the issue. The store stays in horrible condition and is never kept clean and upright until there is a known visit from our district manager. We never receive our schedules in adequate time and when they are posted it is the week of never the week before. I have personally witness superisors let other associates take money out of the store cash registers and place into the own pockets. I also have been sexually harassed by one of my store high ranking mangers. I believe that this store needs to be put under investigation due to the fact the rules and protocol are not being followed properly.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I believe JCPenny is systematically mistreating their employees due to their financial state, what they are doing is a traditional money move that occurs when a company losses millions of dollars. I have a daughter employed at JCPenny and she is experiencing some of the same things.
arrest of shoplifting, no advise
I was recent caught for the shoplifting in a store of WA, it was the JC Penney For $135 they called the police! Police took my statement which I signed in which I accepted what I did. My wife was also involved but store nor police called for her but I do not remember if they wrote on the statement that my wife was involved or not. They just asked me for her name and her Date of Birth. Police said i will get a court of notice. I got myself into trouble due to this stupid act of mine. Im from India and on H1-B Guest worker Visa program. I work for the Microsoft Product Team. I cannot let stupid act interfere with Grteen Card!
This what happenedv I took some merchandise and I was actually going to pay for it. But my daughter was hungry so I was just going out into the mall to buy of something to eat her and then I going to come back and pay for it because my car was parked on the other entrance and I had to go through the store anyways. I did not say all this to loss of prevention and police officer because they say it work best for me if I cooperated with them and I say yes to whatever they tole because I was so nervous and I thought of they will never believe me.
I have following questions now:-
1. Reading on websites and forums, they suggest to not accept to be guilty. Should I have not given of my statement to police?
2. Can me and my wife get a jail term?
3. Will police inform my employer?
4. I am on H1B and my wife is going to India and may go for visa stamping if she needs to come back. What affect can this have on her visa stamping? Can my wife get job in US, she can be nurse or other middle class type jobs.
5. My wife is going to India in two days - should she not go to India? I do not know if the court of notice will ask her to appear in court and if stamping is reject and she can not come back, what will happen?
6. How can this affect my H1B? How can this affect my GC which is underway - My I140 is approved? I better than illegal immigrant I have skill and middle class acgtivity. I buy house not many Amuricans can buy house in market.
7. Another possibility is that I be going to India for good in June this year anyways if I do not get any projects due to slower economy so I would also like to understand my options if I am going for good and may not come back in near to mid term future.
8. I know nothing about lawyers. What kind of lawyer should I contact? Does anyone know how can I find criminal and immigration lawyers in WA state? Also any pointers to places or websites where I can get information on lawyers will also be very helpful. Also how much do the lawyers charge (range is fine so that I am better prepared)? Do they spend few hours or a lot of time on the case because I am guess that according there fees will be more?
9. Also typical in how much time the court of notice is sent from the time the incident occurs?
10. Police officer also said he will check if I eligible for a diversion program. I am on H1B so am I eligible for it? How does it work? What should I do next? Can judge accept money. Who knoew judge.
Thanks for your advise and direction!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Can a judge accept money? I must say.. I don't believe a word you say. I hope you will get a jail term because stealing is stealing. You are corrupt and your deviant thinking is wrong. My advice: You don't deserve a green card- Go back home.
men in women's dressing room's
i was at JCPenney today with my wife and she was looking for a summer dress, she found the dress she wanted and picked up two different sizes. we walked to the nearest dressing room and she went in to try them on, after about 30 seconds she calls out to me "i cant get the dress zipped up, my arm's cant reach that far back", so i got up and went into the dressing room to help her. After i zipped the dress up i exited the dressing room and so did she to look at her self in the gigger outside mirror, when she was done we both went back into the dressing room again.
About 20 seconds after re-entering the dressing room, i hear "excuse me, men are not allowed in the womens's dressing room", i exited the dressing room and so did my wife, i said to the women "she cant get the dress zipped up without my help", in response the women said "well im calling security" i said "go right ahead" and me and my wife re-entered the dressing room. My wife finished trying on her dresses and we continued looking around the store whe a woman appering to be the manager came up to me and said "Men are not allowed in the womun's dressing room", i told her "she cant get the dress zipped up without my help, what do you propose i do?" AND BELIVE IT OR NOT SHE SAID " YOU AND YOUR WIFE NEED TO GO THE THE "MENS" DRESSING ROOM AND YOU CAN HELP HER THERE BECAUSE WOMEN FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE YOUR IN HERE"
I said "EXCUSE ME? BUT THAT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL!, MY WIFE WOULD FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE GETTING DRESSED IN A MEN'S DRESSING ROOM", now I'm 6 feet 2 inches and to see into another woman's dressing room i would have to climb the dressing room wall, but i am not a pervert and not looking to get my jolly's of to any woman, I'm just helping my wife try on clothes. What the Manager told be makes no sense at all and she is stupid in my opinion, why can a man not help his wife or girlfriend get dressed?, and if it is a store policy, WHICH IT IS NOT, it should be posted.
your are stupid "manners101" every one says something about "calling the police"...calling the police would not do a damn thing because i have done nothing illegal!
i was not spying on anyone and you would look stupid for calling the police and i would laugh at you because there is no policy against men in the womens dressing room anywhere!
you need to realize that men help there wifes in the dressing rooms all the time and until JCPenney gets a dressing room where i can help my wife in privacy, i will continue to go into the womens dressing room.
i went in with her again into the womens dressing room today to help her again.
so screw off you loser women who think all guys are perverts and when something happens to you and you need help in the dressing room from your husband or boyfriend, i hope he is off cheating on you :)
Thank you "whatsupworld" and "F0xh0undX" finally, two people who understand what I am saying. I don't know why others can't understand where I am coming from like you can, I am not a pervert or a stalker or rapist, I am a man who was helping his wife, it is that simple. But people always assume the worst in people I guess. At least some people have brains like you two, again thank you.
WOW, "Mary007", I FEEL SORRY FOR HOW STUPID YOU ARE, "YOU" LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS MADE A COMMENT EXCEPT FOR (1 PERSON) HAVE COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT. AND CALLING THE POLICE WOULD NOT MEAN A THING, I HAVE BROKEN NO LAWS BY GOING IN A WOMENS DRESSING ROOM TO ASSIST MY "WIFE", SO YOU WOULD LOOK LIKE A TOTAL "###" AS YOU PUT IT, AND YOUR "HUBBY" WOULD BE ARRESTED IF HE TOUCHED ME AND I WOULD THEN PRESS ASSAULT CHARGES AND YOU WOULD LOOK EVEN MORE STUPID. AND I WOULD NOT BE "IN YOUR DRESSING ROOM" AS YOU PUT IT, I WOULD BE IN MY "WIFES" DRESSING ROOM, "ASSISTING" HER WITH HER DRESS, I FEEL SO SORRY FOR YOU "Mary007", YOU TRULY ARE A "###"
Okay, first of all. To "MZMICHIGAN" your comment: If another man was in the dressing room helping his wife or girlfriend dress I would NOT have a problem with it as long as he is not there to snoop around and not trying to get a peek at my wife. To "Common Decency" your comment about buying a Playboy Porn Magazine is 100% STUPID (I never said I was there to try and look at women nude) if I wanted to see a women naked I would look at my wife. PEOPLE are not understanding anything about what I was trying to say and anyone who says anything like what the comments are so far are just as WRONG. It is NEVER a store Policy that a man cannot be in a womens dressing room to assist his wife or girlfriend. Also to "Common Decency" you calling me a Pervert is very STUPID also, and saying my wife is not to bright is also STUPID, my wife is very bright, and a lot smarter than you are. I dont care if there are UNISEX dressing rooms, most stores don't have them anyway, thats why the manager at JCPENNY didn't know what to tell me. That's why there are walls in regular dressing rooms. Also to "Common Decency" saying your husband would punch me in the face is STUPID, if he did, he would be arrested and charged with assault and would face Jail time, so again, YOUR STUPID. (NOT ALL MEN ARE PERVERTS, I AM NOT A PERVERT FOR BEING IN THE DRESSING ROOM WITH MY WIFE TO HELP HER WITH HER DRESS, I WAS NOT LOOKING OVER THE WALLS TRYING TO CHECK OUT WOMEN, I DID NOTHING WRONG AND SINCE THIS ORIGINALLY HAPPENED I HAVE HELPED MY WIFE IN ABOUT 50 WOMENS DRESSING ROOMS AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOREVER, and if anyone has a problem with that then TUFF LIFE and suck it up :) :)
A man has no right to be in the women's dressing room. Period. End of story.
All dressing rooms in the stores have dressing room attendant's to help in matters of a female customer having short and stubby arms and legs that prevent her from reaching long places.
There are men who for whatever reason feel that they need to violate other women's right to public privacy.
The laws in California do not protect women and girls in bathrooms and dressing rooms. This state is 100% "unlawful" and immoral in every single way.
I just experienced something similar today me and my eleven year old went into a fitting room and saw a man trying to go into the female fitting room with his son I told told him he was not allowed to go in there because it was a female fitting room. Looking at the comments I feel there should be a fitting room that is unisex in order to avoid this problem. That way the customer would be able to go in with is wife. He is lucky that he didn't go into a JC penny in NY he would have gotten beat up. We don't play . Don't try that in New York.
8 years after the OP but oh well...
why do all the [censor] women who commented on this thread act like dressing rooms are just one big room with no doors or walls where women roam naked... lol. I feel like none of you have had long term significant others. as a woman as long as there is doors and walls in between us i don't care if youre in there with your wife. I can't recall anytime I saw a man helping his lady and my first reaction was "damn what a $$$$ing pervert." It's usually quite the opposite, i think it's sweet that youre so willing to go into womens dressing rooms and shop with her. Also if i don't happen to see you when youre going in or out i would probably have no clue you were in there in the first place. Theres unisex/family bathrooms in womens restrooms at the mall but nobody complains about that making them uncomfortable when it's just the same. stupid SEXist broads like the ones who commented on this are the reason suicide rates for men are skyrocketing.
JC Penney is charging taxes on the shipping price as well.
I dont think that is Fair pricing.
When I wanted to show my husband how I looked, I would step outside where he waited, to do so. He did not have to enter my fitting room with me. Regarding 'helping me zip up', if I couldn't zip it myself it probably didn't fit. Another thing, very often I would step outside of my booth to see myself from a distance in the larger mirror. If there were a man in there, even if I was covered, I would not have been comfortable. Males and females need dedicated fitting rooms!
Alright so I know this thread is very old, however I wanted to post in response to the unintelligent and obviously single women who have responded to this post negatively. Think about this for a moment, the majority of those dressing rooms have NO signs which direct what sex they are. And on top of that if there were, are you telling me that you wouldn't feel just as entitled going in to the dressing rooms in the men's section with your husband to tell him what he picked out was wrong. Or how about this. In your small point of view on the world have you glanced around at the fact that those same dressing rooms have standard walls separating each one and doors nearly as thick with... Get this... Locks. And even more so the fact that said walls are at least two feet taller then even the above average height man. Or the fact that women can creep on women's dressings rooms as well. And last but certainly no least. 99% of all you women are too insecure about your bodies that I don't understand why you would want to have a retailer force you out of those locked doors and high walls out into the public eye just so your husband or significant other can help pick out the perfect fitting, or good looking clothes. When in fact the majority of the men out there hate shopping and waiting outside these dressing rooms anyways they would still rather ensure there wives were comfortable with their choices and much rather be doing that privately in a locked dressing room.
First of all the idea that men are trying to get their "perve on is stupid". Are women running
around nude in the changing room? I dont think so. I have seen women in mens changing
rooms all the time. Plus women that work in the store as well as women customers have
opened the changing room door while I was getting dressed. Wow maybe that makes them
perverts. I dont think so. Many of these changing rooms have changing stalls with broken door locks. Wow maybe it is a conspiracy to walk in on men while changing. I dont see anything wrong with men going in a womens fitting room. There is one store that allows
their gay male employees to routinely check the fitting rooms. We all need to calm down it is silly.
People with even the slightest bit of common sense should have no problem letting a person of a different gender into a specific dressing room to help their partner or children try on outfits unless there are no walls/doors to lock the privacy of the rooms. Get real, firstly, do you really think that they will try peeking in front of their partner? Also, what are the individual rooms for, then? If it was supposed to be a gender based thing, then there should have been a whole area with some curtains to support faster changing and accommodate more people at once instead of having them wait in line for the next room to be free.
The ONLY reason that people should have to complain about this and call security is IF the person starts acting creepy which is guaranteed to never happen unless the person is nuts (no one in their right mind would take the chance of being branded a pervert in front of their family and risk getting arrested).
The person who designed dressing rooms with actual doors did it for this reason: So that people that are related can have privacy. If people cannot enter into the room where you are changing, they cannot do you any harm, period.
Stay out of the women's dressing room. Plain & simple.
The dressing rooms have doors. You're not bothering anyone else unless you open, or in other way look inside that door. So it doesn't matter if a husband and wife share a dressing room, not at all. Male / Female section of the dressing rooms are often in the same room, just at the right or left of it so you're still just feet's away of where someone else of the opposite sex is trying on clothes behind closed doors (sounds really frightening doesn't it? haha)
Failure to Act on Fraud
I will never do business with either of these associated companies ever again. I had opened one of theo JC Penny Dept store cards around the holidays, ya know when they ask if you want to save the 10% opening the charge. I've often do so in stores only to pay charge in full and close the account if the purchase was large enough to warrant it. Doing so had never damaged my credit until now!
As it turned out I was living with the borderline personality sociopath who was unfortunately the mother of two of my children. We had no joint accounts, she had no permission to use my accounts or open any in my name or jointly. However, JC Penny decided to send me an opt out notice and upon no response upgrade my dept. store card to a Mastercard. I never received this notice she must have destroyed it. I never knew of the card either she opened it, activated it and charged up thousands of doallars on it including airfare online. Yes folks we're talking about multiple felonies that need prosecuted here.
I ended up discovering her fraud only after finding a statement she had thrown in the trash after I'm not sure how many months it had been activated and been used by her. I filed a police report and due to other legal actions ongoing witht his woman was advised to hold of on prosecution of thise offense. Now the police detective refuses to do anything about it. The District Attorney would do nothing. The police report was faxed and then mailed by mail to Brad Yantz, JCP Fraud dept. (who I am advised no longer works there, likely due to his overwhelming imcompetence and repeated refusal to get on the phone and defer to his assistant). JC Pennny's still done nothing sold account to collections and this has been on MY credit since.
Someone who's been in the top tier of credit scores his entire life now pays the price for the felonies of someone else, and they've refused to prosecute themselves despite constant efforts to correct this matter.
Now the circumstances of my situation are particularly unique, but still what if someone stole your identity, whether they lived with you or now. Would you want to do business with companies like this? Legally I can not be held accountable for this fraud yet still I am and my life has been a living hell since. I'm about to send them correspondance indicating I will seek representation for their failure to clear my name from this fraud as they are legally obligated to do.
My advice to anyone who's smart enough to take it. Don't do business with these companies and if you do and fall victim to fraud. ONLY communicate by them by mail certified return receipt and save all records of your communication. Their dishonesty or incompetence, whichever the case may be, is only surpassed here by the perpetrator.
Ok some typos above sorry, I should have re-read it, oh well. Now to start writing up letters. Found this page searching for contact information.

$9.95 unauthorized monthly change on my credit card
JC Penny, under the SB FUN FAMILY REWARDS [protected], was charging $9.95 for this club membership rewards program which I did not authorize.
It was iniated by an online purchase I made by clicking a $10.00 rebate, which i did recieve. They charged me for 3 months and I was able to cancel and have them credit back 2 months.
This is a total scam. I'm pretty good at reading the fine print and don't ever remember seeing this membership enrollment and/or fee.
I will not order anything from JC Penny again.

terrible company
I made 3 purchases with JC Penney in the last three months. I spent over $300.00 on pictures of my children and $20.00 in the children's department on clothes. I also reordered more pictures online.
I downloaded my bank statement this afternoon and saw a charge for $9.95 for something called SBS Fun Family Rewards. I googled it and found that this is a program implemented by JC Penney. I have no idea what the program does -- I've received nothing in the mail or email describing it.
No one asked me online or in the store if I wanted to join this program. I never signed anything authorizing any debits from my account. I have contacted the local store and Tom, the Manager, is supposed to call me back tomorrow. No one at the store when I called this evening had heard anything about the program in either the portrait area or the main store.

My goodness...people are very ignorant. Read the fine print! You DID sign up for it.
How does this one problem make them a 'terrible company'?
you did sign up for it!... did you really think that 10 dollar coupon was free?

watch quit working 7 weeks after purchase - store wouldn't exchange
My husband gave my a Citizen's quartz watch for Christmas. I exchanged it for a different watch 2 days after Christmas. Mid-February the band fell apart (a pin fell out). I was going to have that fixed myself. A week later when I wasn't even wearing the watch, I noticed that it had quit running. I wasn't able to get to the store until today. I was told that they had already exchanged the watch for me once (true - but the other watch was unused and still in the package since I didn't care for the one I received as a gift) and since I hadn't bought the "customer care" plan they couldn't do anything for me. I was really surprised that they didn't stand behind a watch that didn't even last 2 months. Apparently their return policy is 60 days for "fine jewelry" (which is debatable considering the lack of quality of the watch) without the customer care policy. I would have been happy if they would have given me credit to exchange for a different watch. I had already picked out a significantly more expensive watch while I was waiting for the sales staff to figure out what they were going to tell me. But, of course, with the lack of customer service and indifferent attitude of the sales staff, I'll go somewhere else to buy a new watch. And, it's going to be a long, long time before I shop at JC Penney again.

Sorry should have bought the care plan see what 9.99- 11.99 would have saved you!
fun family rewards
I made a purchase on JC Penney web site 12-18-07 for some clothing. At check-out they presented a $10 rebate and asked me to confirm my Email address, which I did. A year later I'm looking through me bank statements for medical deductions for income taxes and I find "Fun Family Rewards" at $9.95 taken from my debit account for 14 months. I called the...

And never order from their catalog. They didn't offer the items I wanted in the store, but said they were available online. Even though I planned to order online, since I was in the store already I decided to buy the new ($3) catalog since it came with a $5 coupon "good for catalog orders or orders from jcpenny. com". Unfortunately when I placed the order online, the promotion code didn't work, so I called customer service. They said the code was not for $5 off, but instead for free shipping. So I said great, give me the free shipping. They said it had to be for items from the catalog and the items I wanted were in the catalog, but that the cost of the very same items from the catalog rather than online would cost me more than the cost of the s&h I would be saving!?! So I said then ship it to the store and i'll just pick it up. Only to find out that they charge almost as much if I pick it up at the store as if I had it delivered to my home. Somehow it costs them exactly the same wether they toss it on the daily truck from the warehouse to the store, as it does to have ups deliver the item to my door. I swear this is the last time I shop there.

ring sizing
My son purchased a ring for me for my 60th birthday. I took the ring back to the store to have it sized(they only sell size 7 rings)for my index finger. I ask if I could bring my own gold in so they would not have to stretch the ring, I was assured that they do not stretch but they add gold to the ring to enlarge it. I went to pick up the ring and the band...
Read full review of JC Penneytired of my supervisor!!!
I just I want to make my complaint public I move a year ago from washignton dc to houston and I start to work in another jc penney here my old supervisor left because she had big problems with the assistant manager because he's a perfect jerk... Since she left everything change! In less than two months I have 8 write ups warnings when I have'nt done anything the new supervisor doesnt know what she's doing she does'nt know how to treat her associates and im feeling that she's racist. She really is! I spoke with the store manager and he never pays attention on me! Im tired of that situation and I dont know what to do I been for 5 years in the company and this is the first time that something like that happens to me...

I am not surprised by what you have experienced in the JCPenney company. Unfortunately, JCPenney has a very long history of being racist to their associates as well as the customers. Look at the woman who went to the Southern CA store salon. She came in to get her hair dyed and the receptionist told her "we don't do hair like yours" referring to African Americans. The complaint went to the District Office. Well, since the district manager who was from the deep south and he didn't see anything wrong with what the receptionist told the customer-instead the company, district manager and store manager orchestrated a letter stating that the receptionist just meant "that their salon was not equipped to do your hair" Of course this is when Gloria Allred came to her rescue.
I was an associate of JCPenney for 11 years. I came forward with information regarding an upper management associate's unethical and illegal behavior after months of complaining they launched an investigation and the person was dismissed. I then suffered extreme retaliation-because I came forward. And by the way it wasn't like I could ignore his behavior as he would say he would blame things on me. When he was dismissed it benefited quite a few people because of his racist attitude and unethical behavior many people's jobs were in jeopardy. These same people have not shown any support which I understand they are afraid of losing their jobs. However, as long as JCPenney and companies like them do not have people come forward they will have the freedom as they think they do now to retaliate, cover-up harass employees. Also, want to add that the company's racist attitude can be illustrated by the fact that they continue to promote people to district management positions in their biggest market in the company (Southern California, including LA) with management from the south Louisiana, Oklahoma or Iowa not one DM has been from the diversified market of Southern California. Do they want us to believe that they can’t find talent here in CA? Does JCPenney have a prerequisite for promotion to upper management positions that they must have an accent from the Deep South?
smell on furniture
Bought bedroom furniture from jcpenny 2 weeks ago. About an hour after the delivery men left, this smell started in the room. It is horrible. I thought it was the wood itself, but its not... It the finish on the wood. I have tried every remedy I can think of and have taken a million suggestions and nothing works. It still smells as bad as the first day we got it. I have not been able to sleep in my own bedroom because the smell is so bad that it makes me physically ill.

charging late fees
I paid off my penny's card in nov 08. In dec of 08 I made another purchase but I did not receive the staement until jan of 09 they charged me a late fee for items purchased in dec but I didn't receive the statement yet, some foreign guy answers and argues that I should of made a payment for dec. I did not have a balance so why would I make a payment. First off I am sick and tired of trying to do business with someone who can't speak english and two them charging a fee for something that is not there.

Make sure this is not GE MoneyBank. Penny's tends to use them. If so...
a.k.a. GEMB, GE Moneybank, GE Money, CareCredit, Kwik Comfort, JC Penney Credit, others.
First:
Contact the Office of Thrift Supervision at www.ots.treas.gov
For some reason, GE listens to them.
Next, go to www.complaintsboard.com. Do a search on CareCredit, GEMB of GE Moneybank. You will notice they have a running scam.
1) Their offer is for interest free financing if the balance is paid in full after x-months, usually 18-24.
2) No matter if you mail in your payments, have autopay from your charge card, or direct debit from your bank account, GE will ALWAYS claim they did not receive your payment, or received your payment late. Why? Then they can add late charges! And of course, your last payment is always lost, therefore “you did not pay-off your balance in the predetermined time frame”. Then they try to collect a huge interest payment effective from the inception date.
3) You cannot contact the company via e-mail; they ignore e-mail.
4) You cannot get a response via snail mail; they ignore your letters.
5) If you are willing to sit on hold for 45-60 minutes, and punch in your account number countless times, you may be able to reach a person with a pulse. In most cases, the employees speak/understand English, but are not overly bright.
6) Said person will claim your payment was not received, or received late.
In my case, I had electronic records of every payment. I also paid extra every month. When asked that I provide the proof, I faxed copies of the electronic transaction records as well as e-mailed same. Of course, they "never received it" despite the fact that I was holding the FAX confirmation in my hand and looking at the e-mail receipt.
Advice:
1) If you have entered a contract with these scammers, beg, borrow or steal whatever
amount of money you ACTUALLY owe them. DO NOT PAY INTEREST OR LATE
FEES (unless you actually were late). Send a CERTIFIED CHECK, RETURN
RECEIPT REQUESTED FOR THE AMOUNT YOU CHARGED less any payments
already made. Write your account # and “Paid in Full” on the check.
2) If you did direct debit or credit card payments, close the bank account or cancel the
credit card IMMEDIATELY AFTER the check has cleared or the withdrawal is
posted. They tend to post charge card debits almost immediately.
3) Save all your evidence should they threaten to come after you. However, they won't
because they would lose; I am telling you from experience. I threatened them with
court and was refunded all interest and late fees.
4) Check for class-action suits in your area; there are many going on nationwide.
Here is a letter another gentlemen sent to CareCredit/GE MoneyBank:
To Whom It May Concern:
The purpose of this letter is to file a formal notification of complaint alleging numerous violations of the Consumer Credit Protection Act (15 U.S.C. 1601) on the part of CareCredit, in that CareCredit, aka GE Capital Cons Cardco aka GE Capital Consumer Card Company. GE Capital Consumer Card Co. is a ""creditor"" by definition of 15 U.S.C. 1601-§103-f (Consumer Credit Protection Act) and therefore falls under the federal jurisdiction of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). GE Capital Consumer Card Co. has knowingly and illegally: - made a promotional offer of ""interest-free"" or ""deferred interest"" which, by its actions as enumerated below, it had or has no intentions of fulfilling, said offer falling within the definition of Section 226.2 of CCPA.
- levied late fees and finance charges when payments were actually received - and deducted from my bank account - PRIOR to the due date, - charged illegal and exorbitant ""account security"" fees without any form of legal disclosure or explanation as to what those charges may be, constituting a ""surcharge"" under sections 103 and section 167 of the Consumer Credit Protection Act (15 U.S.C. 1601), hereinafter referred to as CCPA. - has instituted retroactive ""terms and conditions"" without proper notification, in violation of § 226.7 of the CCPA. - has provided such ""terms and conditions"" in a format that appears to be a third- or fourth-generation unreadable photocopy consisting of print so small and faded as to be illegible, in violation of § 226.5.
- has made it virtually impossible for customers (clients) to contact them in a timely manner by failing and/or refusing to answer telephone calls for periods of up to 7.5 hours (by placing the customer on hold for such lengths of time) and by failing and/or refusing to provide any means on its web site of contacting CareCredit by email or any other means than an unanswered telephone line. - has acted to quash any meaningful payment inquiries by refusing to provide requested information to the bank upon which payments were drawn, in addition to failing to provide telephone-answering staff as alleged above. DETAILS: Application for the above-referenced account was made under a ""promotional offer"" (Exhibit A - promotional offer), which provided for no interest if the account was paid in full within 48 months.
This agreement was for the issuance of a ""medical credit card"" issued by GE Capital Consumer Card Co, 5300 Kings Island Drive, Mason, OH 45050, to cover dental (oral surgery) expenses in excess of that which were to be paid by the payee's dental insurance. The debt agreed upon was to be $1, 500.00. The first payment was due September 4, 2004 (Exhibit B - statement of payment due).
Payment was received via electronic funds transfer on September 2, 3004 and was deducted from the payee's bank account prior to 2 pm the following business day, September 3, 2004 (Exhibit C - email from USBank, formerly and aka Firstar Bank). The minimum payment on the above account is $45 per month. The defendant states that ""payment is due by 5 pm on the due date"" to ""avoid additional finance charges."" Payment was received and cleared well before that time.
Electronic funds transfer payments through USBank is guaranteed to arrive on the date specificied. This form of payment was chosen specifically to ensure timely receipt of payment, since US Postal Service delivery to and from payee's address is often very unreliable. In four years, I have had no problem with electronic funds transfers reaching their destination late.
The payee then received on Sept. 13, 2004 a ""late notice"" (which bore no postmark and was, in fact, bulk mailed - Exhibits D-1 and D-2 - envelope and late payment notice) claiming that no payment had been received, when in fact, it had. In addition, the payee was informed that a late fee of $35.00 and an ""account security fee"" of $23.25 had been charged additionally. In a document received Sept. 13, 2004, after the contract was entered into, labelled ""Account Security Debt Cancellation Agreement"" (Exhibit E), there is no mention whatsoever of any ""account security fee"".
Payee contends that this ""account security fee"" constitutes a hidden and therefore unlawful interest or finance charge, in violation of federal law. On that date, Sept. 13, 2004, payee attempted to call the phone number provided [protected]) and was informed by a voice recording that ""due to a high volume of calls"" there would be ""a lengthy wait time"". Payee kept the line open and was on hold for 3 hours 47 minutes before finally giving up, unable to speak to single human being during that time.
Additionally, the payee contacted the bank (Exhibit F - email) to notify them of the allegation by GE Capital Cons Cardo that no payment had been received, even though existing bank records clearly documented otherwise. USBank aka Firstar Bank responded to the payee on Sept. 14. 2004 (Exhibit G - email) that it was investigating the matter, then followed up with another communication - also Sept. 14, 2004 (Exhibit H - email) that ""GE Capital Cons Cardco will not discuss customer accounts with third parties"" and suggested that the payee call [protected] - the same phone number which GE Capital Cons Cardo will not answer.
An additional payment of $55.00 was made by the payee and received September 17, 2004 and deducted from the payee's bank account on Sept. 18, 2004 for the payment of $45.00 due October 4, 2004. No statement was received for a November payment, due Nov. 4, 2004; however electronic payment was made and received Sept. 29, 2004 in the amount of $100.00 (Exhibit I - details of USBank transaction printout), even though the payment due was $45.00. For the December payment, due Dec. 4, 2004, an electronic funds transfer in the amount of $100.00 was scheduled to be received Nov. 18, 2004, though the amount due was $45.00.
On November 12, 2004, payee received a statement from GE Capital Cons Cardco (Exhibit G - statement) claiming no payment was received for October and that a late fee of $35.00 had been assessed, as well as a ""finance charge"" of $106.64 and an ""account security fee"" of $22.38. The payee was also informed that the ""promotional offer"" had expired on an unstated expiration date, in violation of the agreement made and the promotional offer (Exhibit A). Also on November 12, 2004, the payee again attempted to call both toll-free numbers provided and was informed by a recorded message that ""due to a large volume of calls"" there would be a ""long wait time."" After 2 hours and 17 minutes, the payee again gave up, and on November 13, 2004, sent this document with a certified letter to the defendant.
In summary, payee has so far paid $400 on a $1, 500.00 debt and is informed the balance is $1, 563.13. All payments have been made and received before the due date. The payee asks for full restitution of the unlawful and exorbitant fees in the amount of $463.13 charged by GE Capital Cons Cardco, as well as all attorney fees and costs pursuant to this matter, and for full reinstatement of the ""promotional offer"" terms which were, and are, part and parcel of the agreement between the payee and GE Capital Cons Cardco.
The payee hereby notifies you, under the requirements of the Consumer Credit Protection Act. [15 U.S.C. 1601], that the aforesaid charges of $463.13 are contested for the reasons outlined above and that no such charges will be paid in the future. Payments will be made to repay the original amount of $1500, as contracted, in the time length necessary to avoid interest fees, per your ""promotional offer."" It is my intent to file legal action - as a class action suit if possible - and to seek full restitution and double damages as provided for in the Consumer Credit Protection Act
charge on my visa
I had signed up for the jc penney rewards program and I was never told this would cost $9.95 a month. I never gave them my credit card number. I do shop jc penney on a regular basis but this was not something I agreed to pay for. It was very misleading inn the fact that this was a free service. I feel if I did not give authorization to use my charge card number, jc penney had no right to do so.
I will call my charge card company and jc penney and file a complaint with them as well. This service they so kindly offerred is fraud as far as i'm concerned and something needs to be done to stop this.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I made a large purchase at the Catalog Department (JC Penney - Dulles, Virginia) and the clerk gave me a card and told me to apply to the Rewards Program for additional mailings of coupons/discounts at no cost or obligation to me. I had my daughter sign up and then was informed this was a SERVICE OFFERED THAT YOU HAD TO PAY TO OBTAIN. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD PAY TO GET A DISCOUNT, ESPECIALLY AT PENNEY'S WHERE THEY SEND ALL THEIR DISCOUNTS TO YOU FOR FREE THRU THE MAIL?
I sent numerous emails to their website customer service link and finally in December I received an email stating that my "Rewards Account was Cancelled"...now it begins...the billings started to hit my Visa card in January and again in February...($9.95). I have never used their services or their discounts. I spent 2 hours on the phone today only to be told my account had just now been cancelled (today) and they couldn't tell me how to get the charges reversed or who in their organization or where in their organization I was to call to have it done.
Navy Federal Credit Union has been great in reversing the charges. I think JC Penney and their Customer Service Department STINKS! Do not get taken in on their Rewards Program! I haven't shopped there since!
I agree. I purhcased drapes for my home. After purchasing them I clicked a button on something small on screen that mentioned 10$ gift card or something. The text was in an area about 2" by 2". I thought that by clicking the box I would be seeing more details - not enrolling.
In reality I enrolled.
15 mintues later I called the 800 number to cancle my membership.
They told me I had not yet been entered in the database and they could not cancle me.
I called JC Penney and told them I want to cancle my membership. They told me to call the 800 number I previously called.
I called the 800 number and was told I need to opt out by mail by when I recieved my "membership packet".
I never recieved my membership packet. After returning from an extended vacation and looking at my credit card statements in greater detail I googled "SB *PERFECT HOME SLECT(Services and Merchandise)" and asked that they remove my membership and redact all chargest (from Aug - Oct (3 monthes) They removed the most recent but would not remove the charges from Aug and Sept.
I was not expecting such a hidden-enrollment to be offered by what I thought was a reputable company. Futhermore I am very dissapointed with JC Penney for failing to act on my behalf to remove charges or in some other way compensate me for my time spent dealing with the issues or the un-wanted charges on my card.
In no way did I check a check box indicating I wished to enroll.
Also, I did not recieve the compensation (10 gift card + membership packet) that I was supposed to recieved.
This is clearly not the way to support your customer-base JC Penney. I'm actually fairly shocked that something so shady came from such a formerly reputable company.
I look forward to speaking with higher management in the next 5 to 7 days. (what timelyness!)
I too, have found charges by JC Penney Telemarketing, bbut the charge on my card was 17.98 ? I am in the process of a complaint against them. I do not believe this !
That doesn't seem ethical for a business to do this either. It's still a scam if you have to call to get free rewards after being charged. They probably only did this because you caught them charging you the money. I don't trust JCP.
the jcpenney rewards program IS free.
you signed up for an additional program-- fun family rewards, health extras, perfect home rewards, motor plus, or something of the likes.
those programs are 9.95 per month.
look closely at you billing stmnt from your credit card and you will see a telephone number to call, or call [protected], they will help get you to the right group...
very sneaky
The family fun rewards program is very misleading. When you place your order on the JCpenney web page there is information about the jcpenney rewards program and the add says you can earn 10 dollars by signing up and that the membership is free.
When you complete your order you are offered 'Would you like to earn $10 toward this purchase' click yes and it asks if you would like to sign up. click yes and your confirmation explains that you have a free 30 days then the fee is $9.95 per month. (I think that's the right amount)
In any case I now know something isn't right. Your order page redirects you - not the the jcpenney rewards information - but to the fun family rewards program which is different and does cost a monthly fee.
VERY SNEAKY!
I called the corporate office to complain, my jcpenney credit card (they couldn't help me), the company who offers the program (stonebridge something or other) - they were closed for the holiday, So I emailed them to cancel the account. I am waiting for a response.
Everyone should call CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS AND SPEAK TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS [protected] Let them know what you think of their deceptive program.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

My hair has been ruined as well at a JCP Salon. I am missing half of my hair and it is broken off in small pieces all over the top. I got my money back but not my hair. I also did not get the products I was promised by the store manager. JCP is going downhill. They also quit selling my favorite pants, Worthington Curvy fit BOOTCUT. Not everyone is skinny and wants a trouser cut or skin tight pants to wear to work. Thanks JCP. I have been buying my clothes there since 2nd grade. Looking for new stores to shop and never again will I get a color, cut or eyebrows waxed at JCP Salons.
I also disagree and I have been going to Mina for a couple years and also a few of my friends. We woun't let anyone else touch our hair that is not Mina. Mina rocks she is one of the best hair stylist that you can go in Virginia.
I also disagree and have been going to Mina for a couple years and refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. She gave me the EXACT color I wanted on the first try and always gives me the cut I ask for and if I am not happy with anything for any reason will redo to my exact standard. Over the years of ending up with less than perfect cuts/colors- I have found that it GREATLY helps to bring in photographs of exactly what you want and discuss if it is possible with the stylist before hand. I know how traumatic it can be to have something like that happen to your hair and am sorry that happened to you, but I have never known Mina to not want her customer to be more than happy and always willing to adjust anything I am not perfectly satisfied with. Also I know it is bit late now as your post is from the summer, but in the future you never want to continue putting more color on top of color- as previous poster said you want to go into color correctionist and have a hair pack (special creme) put in that removes the color that was put in so they can then fix to the color you want. I am sure JC Penney would do that for free.
I disagree that the Fair Oaks salon is horrible. I have been driving over an hour for almost 5 years to have my hair done by Daisy. I wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair. I think your issuie is really with the stylist. Consider going to Daisy. Her specialty is color and color correction.
