Filthy disgusting changerooms and bathrooms - For months sludge and grime has been building up on counters, around water taps etc. I brought this to the attention of 3 different staff members over the course of 2 weeks. Nothing was done about it. I finally spoke to manager Ryan Maleganeas on April 13, 2018. I showed him pictures. He acted like it was the first he had heard about it (I later found that staff had informed him of the issues previously). He assured me it would be addressed. A week later (Aug 21, 2018) the same sludge and grime remained uncleaned and untouched. So I asked Ryan what was happening with the cleaning. He said it had been cleaned. I took him to the changeroom and showed him that none of the issues I raised with him had been addressed. Specifically black sludge in corners of counter tops, sludge buildup on soap dispencets and around water taps, black mould growing on calking along bottom of mirrors. Ryan Maleganeas then told me that this was cleaned every day and the sludge buildup (which I have been looking at for months) was from a single day's use! I informed him he was incorrect and he accused me of lying. He then said they were doing the best they could and that he expected gym members to be assisting in cleaning the facilities!? Then he said if I didn't like it I could cancel my membership! Ryan Maleganeas has Zero ownership or sense of responsibility for safety and cleanliness of his facility, zero respect for members, zero respect staff. Is it any wonder that none of the staff like him. Also when I was pointing out the deficiencies to Ryan in the men's room, others joined in and added their complaints about lack of cleanliness. Yet Ryan just brushed them off too. I have had others express their concerns to me. I have had staff tell me that others have complained to them as well. But Ryan Maleganeas says he can do no better. Well Ryan, perhaps you should look for a job that better suits your abilities! Something far from customer service, far from managing others and far from facility maintenance!

I am sending this e-mail to ask you to refund my membership fee, which was automatically paid by credit card between April and June, 2018.
In December last year, after the free trial, I joined the membership to take 8 lessons per month with CAD $271.2 program on the condition of paying for 12 months. At that time,
I was convinced that the membership can be extended(suspended) in cases of long-term overseas travel or business trip or it can be even cancelled without any penalty when my health issue is occurred, during the contract period.
After that, I ONLY had 3 lessons on December 12, 15, and 19, 2017, which covers LESS THAN 2 HOURS of training.
I decided to go back to Korea because of my health issues, which requires a long-term rehabilitation program for the herniated disk. After deciding to return to Korea on April 5, 2018, I expressed my intention to withdraw my membership due to the health problem to the receptionist, who refused to have a conversation with me saying that my English is not good enough to understand.
The receptionist consistently insisted me to pay the half of the fee for remaining period for penalty.
Thus LA Fitness charged me the amount of 7 MONTHS' membership fee. However, as I mentioned before, I had only 3 lessons last December. I understand the circumstance and am willing to pay the membership fee covering the period for me to take lessons, which started in April last year. However, I STRONGLY INSIST that I need refund my personal training lesson fee from April to June, total of 3 months'.
When I signed up for the membership, all of you said that you could understand my questions and talks without any problem. However, when it comes to the case of withdrawal, you refuse to accept my withdrawal request, since my English is poor! It is awfully insulting, and it can be regarded as severe racism. The attitude of your receptionist, who ignored the customer only because the latter cannot speak English, which was truly stressful and has been impacted my mental health.
The person who is in charge already knows that I don't get personal training at all, and even I left Canada, however, he(Jacqueline) sent me an e-mail twice to remind me the billing.
I definitely would not have signed up for the membership if there had been special conditions that the payment cannot be withdrawn even in case of the health issue or official leave. No one will sign up for that kind of contract. Do you think you could you do that? I suggest you to put yourself in my situation.
I hope LA Fitness is rational and warm-hearted company understanding the members' situations. Please request to refund my membership fee amount of three months'.

changing my bank account 1 year after I visited
La fitness have over charged me before, but this time my bank account got charged 1 year after I left the USA and LA FItness.
I am clearly in no contact or buisness with them since do not live in USA or near a LA fitness. I have tried to reach out and clear up why I am beeing charged, but no answer from LA fitness, its been a month at least.
Worst company I have done buisness with, sad because I love there gyms.

I joined LA Fitness back in January in Rock Hill, SC. I signed up for personal training for one year. In May, I found out that my work visa was not renewed and I had to leave the country for a couple of months. I stopped working on May 17th. On June 7th, I went to the gym to let them know I wanted to cancel both my membership for the gym and personal training because I was leaving and I did not have a job anymore. The next day I was charged for my personal training fee of $220. I talked to Darian and he told me they would refund the money. Every week since then I talked to him about it and he told me the refund was going to be processed soon. Today I called him again and he told me he talked to his boss and they said they could not process the refund for whatever reason. They stole my money because they charged me the day after I cancelled. They promised me a refund. And now they saying they cannot. I paid for a service I never received since I never had any personal training sessions at all since the cancellation. This is ridiculous and someone needs to something about this before I take action because they literally stole my money and lied to me.

We have been founding members of LA Fitness since they bought out our local fitness club. For the past 4 years our son has been away at College and unable to use his membership. However, expecting he would want to use his membership once college was over, we maintained his membership and made payments for 4 years. This past month (May) when he returned from college, he tried to use the gym, but was turned away because his membership was "revoked". My wife called the next day and made payment in full for his back balance (which was caused by an invalid charge card after ours was compromised). The next day, he again tried to use the gym and was told again that his membership was revoked. I then contacted the branch manager named Naomi, and after several days was told that there was nothing they could do but start over with a brand new membership (at 2x to 3x our contracted prices). This poor decision apparently came from David Bogdan, the regional manager of this poorly run organization. Clearly they are in violation of contract law by accepting our payments, but not providing the services contracted for. Beware of joining this company!

Today at approximately 8:10 pm I went into the main entrance and scanned my bar code to get inside the gym in Huntington Park California.
I have taken my friends to try it out and 2 out of 5 had signed up (customers) and the girl in the front desk advised me not to bring anymore people and started to laugh in my face in front of other customers. I felt embarrassed and harassed by this girl.
In my thoughts as business man that is in sales management I figured it was a good thing as I'm bringing potential customers (Prospects)but I guess new business is not welcome.
It was a female I'm the front desk a little in the chuncky side and could not get her name. Very rude by the way.

I am writing to complain about the poor service of your fitness center in particular to the unacceptable response of the manager named John at the front desk at 9:00m today. John has displayed an unpleasant look when I walk in the doors in the early morning. For some time I did not come because of his behavior. Today I placed my keys in the womens locker room with my water bottle as I have for over a year now. After my workout I went in to get my things from the locker and it had been shut with a lock by another client. I went up to the front desk and when John saw it was me, he made it clear that he did not want to be bothered. I stated my complaint and in a rude tone he stated "you will have to wait until the other client unlocks it"( that could easily be another hour). I told him there had to be another alternative, like maybe going to the classes that just started, ask the instructor to ask her class... He said" yeah, ok, fine", and sent Emily, who kindly assisted me and I was able to retrieve my keys within 5 minutes. Johns response in not seeking an immediate solution to my complaint is unacceptable. His manner and response is rude and irresponsible. I had an important exam scheduled at 9:45 that I would have missed. At this time I am considering looking for a new gym when my renewal is due in January .

My son has been a member for many years, and likes the gym very much. Until a personaL training sales person sold him a 12 month contract for $4, 419.00
A $459 down payment and $360 per month. My son only makes $800 per month on his job, with his car payment of $350 per month, plus gas, food, cell phone expenses...This type of expense he can not afford. The very next day we went down to the branch below:

I spoke to the personal Training Manager Ryan B. and explained our situation to him and he flat out said there was nothing he can do for us, my son signed the contract and the only way out was to pay a 50% penalty buyout fee. How ridiculous is that. For the past few months I had to pay this bill for my son because I was trying to build him good credit. I called Ryan B. again to confirm my situation to him, this time he said I was there after 3 days which was not the case, but again there was nothing he could do for me. I thought the days of pressure selling contracts to young kids was over a decade ago. With just about every place you buy something from has a very forgiving return policy`, LA Fitness in North Naples, Florida still deals in high pressure sales and deceit tactics and hides behind there contracts to rob you of your money. My suggestion to find another Gym to join without contracts, there are plenty of them out there.

Usually my husband and I going to LA Fitness on Barker Cypress @ 529 FM, in Cypress Tx.
Saturday May 12th we decided to invite some friends to play racquetball, we ask for some guests passes and we were to play at LA Fitness on Louetta Rd.
We're playing like 2 hours, and then, our friends left the place.
We decided to go to the pool, and as always, we left our backpacks in the corresponded lockers and we went to the pool.
Like 20 minutes later, we decided to take a shower and when my husband went to his locker, it was broken an his backpack stolen.
he immediately went to the front desk to say the employees, what was happened, and try to look over the cameras.
I called to the police and when the police was in the gym, they going to look the cameras, but was to fast, so was very difficult to see something.
we made the police report, I was looking his phone by google find, and we found the phone in front of Chase ATM, completely broken.
The people stoled the backpack tried to use the credit cards.
He has in the backpack $1800 cash, credit cards, driver license, the phone, and all his stuff and new outfit, car keys. So in fact, my husband backpack has around $2, 500 of belongings.
Well, we had to pay lo lock smith for a new key and control, and the man who did it, told us is not the first time someone call for make a new key car in that location, if not,
like 3 times for same thing, theft.
A women inside the women's locker with me, say the same to me, few weeks ago, her husband was the same, somebody stole his backpack from the lockers,
but the manager told us is lie, because they have not any theft.
I don't think that people need to lie and tell me that.
We always go to LA Fitness on Barker Cypress and never happened something.
I need you help me out with this, because you need to find who was the robber.
The manager said, they going to try to find, but cannot guarantee nothing. Why not?

This is Sijian Chen, a member of LA FITNESS located at 1380 Don Mills Rd, North York, ON, Canada. My membership NO. is S663428. I am writing to complain the manager there for his attitude is so rude and arrogant. I registered personal training program in March, it was actually a one year program. Because I did not want such a long term program, the staff promised me that I can cancel it after four months. However I was not informed that the sessions were not extendable. There was an accident happened to me at the end of March after I only took two training sessions. My right hand got a very severe injury. My tendon was cut and my nerve was hurt. I did surgery, and currently my right hand need a long term rest to recover. I am not supposed to use it as a normal hand within at least one year. As such horrible accident happened, I want to cancel my personal training in advance. Today I went to LA FITNESS and talked to the manager and the staff Andrew, I told them what the situation I was facing, and wanted to get understanding from them. However the attitude of the manager was so cold blooded and arrogant which made me feel very uncomfortable. He was not willing to cancel my sessions, and also compared me with those who have no hands, the way he said like mocking me that I was just pretending to be injured. What's more, today I was told my session was not extendable, as it was 4 months, which means If I do not want to suffer $2000 lost, I have to go to the session every day from now on. However if I do so, can LA FITNESS guarantee that my hand will not get hurt again during it is recovering? The manager never want to help me with such situation, he just want me to wait until the 4-month session expires, and I am keeping paying $500 every month for nothing. I am extremely angry about what happened today in LAFITNESS. If the problem cannot be solved, I have to go to the training every day from now, and not only me, LA FITNESS should also bare the risk of bad consequent which would happen. Also you should take action to improve the customer services, the customer experience now is horrible. People who work there should at least be friendly and helpful. The attitude of the manager hurts me, and make my day sucks.

Whittier's 830 am Saturday class is entitle by day works plus abs. I went and was very disappointed that the instructor was instead teaching a step n sculpture class. She said you didn't need to use the steps but then focused on using the steps so that for the majority of the class if you didn't use the step you weren't doing anything at all. I looked her up and saw that she teaches many step n sculpture classes at other locations. My complaint is that the class shouldn't be called body works if it's really a step n sculpture class. Step n sculpture is a lot more dangerous of a class and so it's very misleading to call it body works if people want to come in for strength training. I would hope that you as a company will either change the name to the course but it actually is or get the instructor to actually teach body works or, better yet, get an new instructor. There was a sub for this class last week and she was excellent. It was a true body works class and my muscles felt it for days afterwards. When I go to Debbie's class I always leave feeling like I didn't get the workout I needed/ looked for/ offered and will not return to her future classes. I really love your body works classes when they are body works but this doing steps without the actual use of weights is just bogus. She does have as hold the weights. But if your not doing step that's all your doing for much of the time is holding them
poor management of exercise classes in edmonton
Recently all Pilates classes in North and West Edmonton clubs are canceled despite the interest of many members. We want to bring back the Pilates classes, so I and some members have sent in many complaints, via email and phonecalls. I also organized a petition and got 40 signatures from interested members. Each time we sent in a complaint, they just responded that they've received it. It has been 2 months and no action has been taken from the management. I asked to speak to the person responsible and they said they cannot let me do it. I asked for a name and they gave me a different name (Monica, Lisa, Angelica) each time . Words are spreading around about the poor management of LA fitness and many members are getting upset and angry. Quitting the club is an understatement and we'll got to media (BBB, google review, twitter, Facebook, CBC news marketplace) to express our dissatisfion if our complaints are continually being ignored.

First of all I love the facilities. It is very close to my place. But "Angelica" (in the front desk) that claimed to be the manager is incredibly rude and disrespectful. My brother and myself were treated as if we were criminals. She came to us with such aggression asking us to come back to the front and make sure we signed in. It is a part of the job which I understood clearly but isn't it also a part of the job to have some decency?! to have good manners and the most important is to provide a great service to your clients?
I decided to speak with one other manager (just the manger Jeff and myself in his desk) as I was stating my situation, Angelica then came aggressively beside me with her arms crossed and started ranting about she is doing her job. She then told me "OH and if you are that sensitive, my apology" (by the way thats still when she has her head up high with what ever attitude Angelica is trying to prove me. She then threathened me and told me "I will be happy to cancel your membership and refund you one month fee" again with her aggressive attitude (not sure is she knows I have signed up for 12 month personal training)
With my surprise I had to ask her myself her name information and Angelica did not even looked at me, she walked away and said have a good day, have a good day while her back is facing me.
By the way... I want to remind everyone again that I am a client. I will be spreading my experience and I will never ever want to deal with LA FITNESS ever again, as I was treated by their manager in such a humiliating way.

After many years of being a member at LA fitness Hazeldell Washington this club refused to let me in due to not having ID? Funny, I use my phone number everyday to get in every other day but not today. The girl at the desk said they where having issues with fraud, come on u have my picture for crying out loud. Well looks like I need a new gym now. Hard enough getting my fat [censor] up to show up to the gym. Don't need the excuse of they would not let me work out today as one, God knows I already have a million excuses not to go work out.
I get u need rules and have to enforce certain policies but if I've been doing this for a year now without an ID or card, notice would of been nice instead of a rejection at your door.
Also if you didn't believe I was who I said I was why would you print out all the account information and give to me so I could cancel? So really if I'm not who I say I am I can cancel this other persons account. Odd really! Probably not the best business practices. A course no manager on duty to talk to at the time. Wife Called a couple days later talked to manager and all lies and excuses to the Extent of saying I was yelling at the desk people. That could not be farther from the truth. I left that gym feeling low and beat down by employees eforcing a rule that they never enforced before. The new LA Fitness in Seminole Florida opened 9 months ago. There's dirt that has never been cleaned in the 9 months. The same spill on the floor for weeks, underneath the machines dirt, let's not mention the bathrooms and let the picures do the talk. I'm attaching 16 pics. Staff useless.
We are asking for basic cleaning here, at least not having to gag when we grab a dumbell or when we go to the restroom. Basic is not being done, and we pay for basic maintenance with our membership.

I moved away from home in early January and stopped using LA Fitness. I didn't have time as well as forgot to cancel my membership. I now haven't used it in about a month. Since Friday, I have been receiving several calls a day from LA saying my card has expired and I need to pay my monthly fee. I have been receiving
So many calls it's on the verge of harassment. I haven't nor will not be using the gym for the past month and don't feel as if I should pay, or at least should get a Pro Rate which every other decent gym provides. I am extremely displeased with LA and will never be using their gyms again.

I went in as a guest and I made the mistake of giving my real number. I went in two weeks ago. I just got my ninth phone call. They say "when are you coming in to see us so we can schedule you with a trainer." I even got calls asking me why I never came back." Whew okay I see I'm not bugging lol. La fitness trainer calling me hounding me for a training session but I was having car issues and told him I can't make it my car Is in the shop. He asks me to tell my friend to bring me of course my friend declines because he works and is tired don't want to make unnecessary trips. So long story short I have a warrant and I started thinking maybe it was police trying to coax me to come to the gym thinking I'm meeting for a training session. I receive calls everyday, twice or more. They call and leave messages. I block their numbers on a daily basis but that don't stop them. And i never even had a membership or visit their gym. They sre relentless and nothing seems to stop them.
I am first reaching out in this most simplified way. I have been a member of LA fitness in Levittown, Long island for years now. I find myself in a situation as many other men do while in the locker room. At least once or sometimes twice a week while I'm there in the shower area or just going to the bathroom in the urinal, a cleaning women just nonchalantly just walks in and casually starts cleaning. So, even though she puts a sign up about 75 feet away at the entrance of the locker room saying "woman working in locker room" it doesn't help those that are unaware taking a shower, urinating, walking naked or just getting dressed. I have felt on occasions extremely violated and embarrassed when walked in on using the urinal as she stands right by starting to clean. They would never let a man clean in the women's locker room. That would be unheard of. I heard some men talking saying exactly the same thing and if by some chance a man was in there he would be arrested! Something should be done about that. I do hope so since every time I am in there I have to be cautious and watch out for this woman.

she became very aggressive and started saying things like the next time that happen again she will cancel my membership I being in this gym= for many years and this is the first time I got late taking a shower and because that little incident this young girl said something like that to me I request from la fitness administration to please remind this employee that as a customers we deserve some respect and I hope this do not happen again thanks for your cooperation.

Hi, my name is Rachel Yang, I'm writing regarding my stolen jacket which is Canada goose. I wear my Canada Goose jacket to your club located at 8555 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, ON, Canada. And I hanged my Canada Goose jacket in the hanging area in the women's changing room and went for running. And after one hour, I found my jacket is gone when I came back. I'm so angry, I lost over $1000 jacket in your gym. I have been with your club for over one year and your club is membership club and your club didn't take care of my property well and lead me lose my jacket. The Markham club didn't put any note reminding clients that"do not put valuable staff here". And your club has responsibility to pay for my loss. And if there are thieves in your club, you'r responsible for finding the thief otherwise there is no other customer will come to an unsafe gym with thief.

personal training charges
I was never told that getting the personal training would be a contract. Now when I dont like the services at all and wanted to cancel it all, turns out, i have to pay about $700 to get out of it (buying the contract out). Would they have told me this before, I WOULD NEVER EVER SIGN UP. I was told for the first and last month payment. I DON'T LIKE THESE SESSIONS AT ALL. I need to get out of this. I dont want to be in a situation that I am paying for something that is not at all useful for me. My body and myself arent liking it at all. All of this is very stressful. Need someone to contact me asap.
