I paid for my Lufthansa ticket return, on February 2024, from Birmingham/UK to Sao Paulo GRU. Due to a delay of Lufthansa in BHX (Feb. 28th/24, flight LH0957) of more than one hour, it was not possible to get the connection flight from Frankfurt to GRU.
I should arrive in GRU on July 29th for a root canal dental treatment. I missed the appointment. Lufthansa haven’t provided me with a flight from Frankfurt to Sao Paulo on Feb. 29th. Then Lufthansa offered me a flight to Lisbon LH1172/181 and the flight to Lisbon was also canceled. On October 30th Lufthansa provided me with a ticket to Bogota and from there to GRU. At the end I have spent three days to arrive in Sao Paulo! That is not fair, and I suffered strong tooth pain and stress. I was on medication (please see attached).
I had to pay a new dentist appointment for July 3rd, once I lost my emergency appointment of June 29th. I also had expense with new ticket from Sao Paulo to Morrinhos/Goias/Brazil where I had the dentist appointment (ticket attached).
As I read the passenger rights on EC Regulation 261/2004/EC, I am entitled to have 600 euros for flights of more than 3500 km (Frankfurt to Bogota), and 600 euros (Bogota to Sao Paulo).
I received a 15 euros voucher for food to spend a day at Frankfurt Airport. The amount is ridiculous so I could not even have a sandwich and a hot drink with that voucher. I am attaching to you the expenses that I bought meal there on June 30th.
At least Lufthansa must provide me with an open voucher of round trip from BHX to GRU because I could not finish the treatment due to 3 days late, a very ridiculous time that I spent to arrive in Sao Paulo.
It is very reasonable and fair, much better for Lufthansa to pay me 1200 euros, and an open voucher for a new ticket from BHX to GRU once I need to go back to Brazil to finish the root canal treatment.
As I said above, I had paid for the ticket to Sao Paulo GRU in February 2024, four months before my trip and I also had trouble with Lufthansa at GRU Airport to come back to BHX, because I had to wait until last minute and I was given a standing by ticket (attached on this application). This caused me stress and I was not sure if was returning to BHX on September 4th.
Thanks for your early answer and I hope I will get paid as soon as possible.

Through all the Waits, connecting flights and ambiguity caused by Lufthansa, you have ended up missing your appointments and incurred other expenditures which must be really furious for you. Considering your problems, it is necessary to forward this issue to customer’s service of Lufthansa, in connection with EC Regulation 261/2004/EC prising prospects such as the delays, the expenses incurred and the level of payment deserved. Just the distance and the delays give you a right to bonus, even the other expenses which have been incurred (for instance, the bonus new appointments to the dentist or even travel attendants) are covered too.
Also, it could be worth trying to approach relevant aviation authorities in the UK and EU, as there maybe able to resolve this kind of dispute based on passenger right law. In case Lufthansa fails to make the response in due time you may as well option this issue by filing a legal complaint or the help of consumer protection organizations can be sought.
