Magic Jack does not have a customer service rep when you call, they try to force you to order on their hotline. They tell you it works with DSL, sure, it does, but you still need your phone service to use your DSL, therefore, you still have two bills. one for their product and one for your dsl. If you have a cable modem, then you may want to get it, but if you google: Magic Jack complaints, you may want to think twice, because the internet is full of complaints from them. Which is how I found this site. BUYER BEWARE!

MY MAGIC JACK UNIT HAS MALFUNCTIONED.
CAUSED ERROR MESSAGE ON COMPUTER IN WHICH IT WAS INSALLED.
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

asked question on magic jack pros.Did not get an answer . I tried to reply to them to cancel like 4 times . They kept coming back, tried to cancel the credit card No answer When I got my cretit bill, they put a charge of $30 on it . That is fraud in my book I want a refund on my bill Answer --- tmalbin@verizon.net

When my one year was up with Magic Jack, I didn't renew. I assumed with none payment they would disconnect my number. TODAY I got an email that I had a voice message. I have tried everything. There is no way to cancel, chat with anyone or disconnect the service unless I have the original order number!

The most frustrating experience I've ever had; spent over 12 hours online in their chat session (was booted out 26 times) and still with little or no service; could not receive calls; could not make two consecutives calls without upgrading between them, and no one could hear me when I called them. Please don't spend your money on this "product of the year".

When itworks it works well- however. Almost every call results in other party complaining about "clicking", which causes dropouts in the conversation. I have stopped using Magic Jack for this reason. My internet is Comcast (average download speed measured by SpeakEasy at 18.7 megabits per second.)

magic jack admitted to a mistake they did and turned my phone off. They said it would be resolved in 24 hours. It is now been 2 days and they haven't fixed their error yet. They keep telling me to wait. I'm tired of their crap and need my phone back on or a refund

I just bought a Magicjack and it ONLY works sometimes. I dial then it would die and the dial tone comes back. I dial it goes silent then I later learned the call went through but I can't hear the other party. I dial then silence follow and the other part gets the call but he can not hear anything.

I bought 2 of these things and they work only part of the time, I have spent hours chatting with their so called techs with little success, guess the old saying applies here, you get what you pay for.

The device does not work correctly. It causes your computer to take forever to boot up, and will run, and run for the longest time.
When connected to phone, the phone does not work properly. Even my computer speakers do not work now.
Don't order it!

I found a website very helpful with email addresses that hopefully you will get somewhere if you send a group email . Just the first email on the website is no longer valid since the person no longer with them.

Hi its me ArishKamal,

I got the magic jack last week only one day that was working... then now its not getting connected. It shows some error like You connect with the USB it seems. I have checked in USB port and which is working good while connecting other usb devices.

I think this is like stupid product, don't buy this... the worst product...

I'm inclined to agree. My sister had a Magic Jack and EVERY time she would call me or I would call her the call quality was so badI could never understand a word she was saying. It ONLY saves you money folks if it works!

During my conversations, the phone is constantly beeping in the other persons ear. I don't hear it but they do. Can someone help solve this situation because i have tried updates and it does not work.

Do not buy Magicjack it will continually restart & stop customer service via Chat keeps doing same thing ove again does not fix. Then you get another Jack they Charge you for it. They will not refund you Long distance Credit if you bought. nor will they cancel & refund a 5yr plan if git it. so they make money you loose out. Highly Di satisfied with the whole Company. use at your own expense.

Even if you can not ditch your phone companie (witch i can) but i decided to keep em and still saving a bundle of money just by doing my long distance with the MJ.. As for why i kept my original phone company... Well the number supplied to me by MJ makes it that everyone local would have long distance charges to their phone bill.. Same also applies to my wife when should would call home from her cell phone.. Now that would be the only problem i see with it.. Let's hope they make their phone number range wider for this to not happen..

I didn't know the charge for shipping and handling is $9.95. But if they are going to shoulder the S&H themselves then they might increase the price of their service.

i purchased a majic jack for my desktop computer and it does not work., i tried to get customer service for help and got no help in correcting the problem. i do not want to keep this majic jack and i would not recommend it to anyone. i want a refund, but don't know how to get my refund.

Magic jack as a product is merely adequte; you cannot use a fax phone without paying xtra; however the larger issue is you cannot contact them when they cut off service after 1 year after paying for 5 years!

It worked for about a week and then suddenly stopped working. U might be expecting an important call and u don't even know that your phone has been disconnected for hours. It is a cheap product and they try to sign u up for 5 years up front cuz they know u wont be back after the first year.

Awful. Lots of gaps in conversation makes you work hard to "figure out" what has been said or not said. I work with contracts all day and this could be a disaster. They have NON-EXISTENT customer service. Too much for too little! I give it a YUK.

Well when I bought the magic jack I was very disappointed about the magic. It was a complete lie! The magic jack has nothing to do with magic. It's an electronic device that runs off of electricity. I honestly believed that this ran off actual magic. First I find out that Santa isn't real and now this. What is this world coming to.

Magicjcak is a one way phone sytstem MOST of the time, very UNRELIABLE. You can hear the other party or they can hear you but NOT at the same time. If you don't care about connection every time and have good connection like the normal phone system then it is for you.

My service was suspended for excessive use. The company has the right to suspend your service at anytime if they feel your use exceeds their guidelines. Read part 6/proper use of the terms and policy.

I installed the Magicjack and rite from the start I had bad voice connection. I went online to tech support for 3 hours and they had me make all kinds of changes to my computer but they could not fix the problem. My computer is not that old. Do not buy magicJack. It may not work.

I do not get caller Id and I have done everthing suggested. The live chat people have NO CLUE as to what they are talking about. I switched from Vonage and that was a big mistake. DO NOT buy Magic Jack.

I bought a MJ about 6 months ago - late Feb, 2009 and have used it for perhaps 30-45 minutes. last week (late August 2009) it quit. VERY difficult to get them to even consider it was broken. The local Radio Shack where I bought it, exchanged it. (The MJ folks were VERY reluctant, ) The new one doesn't work either.

After renewing my subscription I lost all in coming calls, I spent hours with there Tec support, still nothing. In addition, they discontinued the do not distureb feature, they also have problems with cell phones calling the MJ number. At most this is a quick scam of your money.

At first the service was very good but a month ago I start getting cut in the voice and I can use for regular call anymore.. I access customer services but just a robot answer and did not fix it.. I wont renew and not recommend the service to anyone.. I have switch to Skype and its fine..

Magic Jack is a total rip off not to mention it does not work well. I have spent over 7 hours in less than 3 days with on line chat support team they have and then just in a little while later...more problems. For $20/year and countless hours of my time...I would rather add another cell phone to my Verizon plan or get digital phone for an extra 20/month. This is a serious Rip OFF for magicJack OFF.

Product is simple to use and easy to set up but is unreliable. Returned my after 3 calls to customer service trying to get the line to consistently call out on the first try and receive calls on a consistent basis. Customer service is great but the product is a piece of junk just like LINGO's VOIP. dont waste your time.

I have had two units fail in the last 60 days. This technology is not ready for prime time and part of the "cost" is hidden in the software that monitors your use of the internet. This software cannot be easily removed.

Magic jack is supposed to be so easy. The piece of crap does not work. I was never even able to register the product to get a phone number.

Customer support is very limited and they could not help me.

Never was able to connect the product and they would not give a refund.

BUYER BEWARE! This product does not work!

They, Majic Jack, has over billed me and there is no way of getting a hold of anyone. There seems to be no phone number to call and acknowledge my order information or anything. This is no way to run a business.

After the initial setup worked for awhile, I experienced difficulties making outgoing calls. The customer service
q & a did not resolve the problem and no one responded to my chat inquiry.

There is no one to speak with and get any customer satisfaction. Yes, this is very disconcerting when you sign up for long term service.

Too many to write here but down to the nut shell this is a rip off and they will not stand by their warranty and they lie. Then the employee would not give me the information to contact the founder, the company, or any address, phone, or her id number so I could report them.

Our majic jack has not worked for weeks .you get a dial tone you dial the number and then it shuts off. I cannot find any help or number to contact magic jack.

We bought this thing and here is my why this thing sucks so much..

1. CRACKLES HORRIBLE SOUND(was not our expensive phone, it works just fine with a regular phone provider nor the new computer)
2. Wreaked 2 of my computers, One was brand new!
3. Customer support is horrible and the website is hard to follow.
4. Its all a Scam, don't waste your money on this piece of junk!

I have magicjack and it works great. Voice clarity is crystal clear, never a single dropped call on a call to a landline (so you can't automatically blame magicjack if a cell call is dropped) and certainly never "wreaked" a computer.

I've had lots of trouble with computer gadgets but Magicjack is one of those that I didn't have issues with.
