Maytag nothing but trouble

I bought a Maytag Atlantis washer model #MAV8551AWQ in 2004 it has been nothing but trouble. Constant repairs, peace of Junk that should be recalled! Ate up the belt, black soot came out from underneath. Two valves. Two switches, two water pumps replaced. Motor replaced. Would not spin. Loud noise when washing and spinning. Twists and tears clothes. Leaves clothes wet after it is done. Is there a class action Lawsuit against this model? I know there was one for the Neptune washer. I also bought an Atlantis dryer Model #MDE6400AYQ it smells like a burning smell. Had a repair man look at it he claimed there was nothing wrong. Now it is starting to catch my clothes in the inside rim and tear my clothes!

Maytag customer service

Worst customer service I have ever experience. From dealing with an incompetent service person to a very rude customer services manager. I do not think in today market, that one should have to wait 4-6 weeks to have something as simple as a washing machine repaired. I will never recommend that a person purchase any product that Maytag offers. The whole experience has just been troubling.

The handle broke right off my $500 wall mount microwave in less than 2 years. I called Maytag and they took all the information including model number etc. They sent a technician out to have a look. As it turns out you cannot just get the handle, something they could have told me BEFORE coming out. Sure they were willing to replace the door for $300 plus the service call. Maytag should NEVER have sent a tech out to look when they KNEW the handle could not be replaced. Now I am out $120 for the cost of the service call and a microwave with no handle, still works just looks like crap.

Maytag has gone from being one of the best home appliance products to one of the worst piles of garbage that one can spend your hard earned money on, and it is all due to the quality of their after sales service and back up which is non existent, they simply do not care at all about the poor suckers that are stupid enough to buy the products that they build.

But what makes dealing with them so much worse is that their after sales is even worse than normal.

You spend your hard earned dollars on their product and then they have the absolute cheek to treat you as if its a privilege to deal with them or to get them to come out to deal with warranty issues, you are expected to accommodate them after you spent your money with them.

Where did we go so wrong that it has come to this, we as consumers should never have to accept such inferior products or service from anyone we are spending OUR money with.

Maytag defective refrigerator

The control panel on the left door of my Maytag Ice20 French Door Bottom Freezer went berserk--all the lights starting flashing and the water/ice dispenser door started flapping. I researched this problem on the web and quickly found a huge number of complaints from other consumers with the exact problem. Apparently the problem is so widespread, the Maytag/Whirlpool company is providing a free replacement control panel and in some cases free installation even after the warranty is out. This product should be recalled--it may be a fire hazard. Some consumers reported the ice and water poured out of the dispenser and could not be stopped. I turned off the water supply and emptied the ice tray. I also found a temporary solution which tells how turn off the lights and flapping door until the control board can be replaced-- http://www.fixya.com/support/t148884-maytag_ice20_refrigerator.

One person on the above site also tells how to do a self repair of the board.

I also have Maytag front loading washer and dryer. The control panel on the washer was defective and had to the replaced the first week after the washer was installed. I will never buy Maytag again--they no longer have quality products.

Maytag peeling plastic, moldy, dented easily, chipped paint already,

two years ago we bought a maytag refridgerator and maytag gas stove... both are VERY poor quality. The stove grates are chipped and we have used it less than we usually would because we have been away a great deal. the stove grates are very difficult to clean when one follows the instructions. The grates will not fit in a sink and they are heavy to lift, something we should have noticed before buying. The refridgerator is already dented and the plastic is peeling and the place where has a slight dent is rusted because the paint came off. immediately when a frozen vegetable box hit it! The lift to veg compartment broke and cannot be repaired aand was attached by teensie pieces of plastic...On top of all that the drawers seem to mold because of the dampness?! I have no idea what THAT is about! We have never had any problems with our appliances in the past. we have never bought Maytag before and we NEVER will again. We paid a GREAT deal for these products and are VERY unhappy. Enraged would be more appropriate...

Maytag technician from a& e repair never show up

We have Maytag washer which is still under warrnaty and making a noise. We called Maytag and they diverted us to "A & E Factory Service" for repairs. We called "A & E" and they showed up once to check that status. After checking the machine, technician suggested to do repair and order parts (Outer Hub etc.). Then they said schedule appointment after you receive parts. We did that. But technician never showed up for replacing the parts. We have to wait for morning 8.00 am till evening, but no body showed up. whenever we call they said "technician" is on his way. We have to take day-off from work to wait for customer. This is happened 4th time that we schedule next appointment and no technician turned around. When we call "Support" number, it was the same answer. No body from "A&E Factory Service" bother to give us status.

We have since many complained launch against this company on internet in different states. We strongly suggest not to choose "A & E Factory" service for any repairs as this company does not know how to statisfy customer or what customer service is.

I bought my washer less then a year ago from Home Depot in Fullerton, Ca. A Maytag washer. The door latch went bad, and the tech was suppose to come back out when latch was mailed to me. I was set up a second appointment with A&E for service on [protected] between the hours of 12pm-5-pm. On [protected] at 1530 hours I called A&E to find out the status of when the tech will be at my home to repair my washer. I was told the tech had to go to the hospital. No one would be showing up. They scheduled for [protected] between 12pm-5pm. I have been in contact with Home Depot where I purchased the washer from, and spoke with a Christine who says A&E is the only contractor maytag deals with. I told her at 1550 hours the tech has not yet arrived and I will be calling at 1700 hours if the tech did not show up. If the tech does not show up, I will be taking the store and A&E and maytag to court . Christine said she is keeping track of my calls. Update...Tech just called 4:10pm, stating he is on his way. I will never buy another maytag product.

I agree customer service stinks. It's been about a year and my deluxe model Whirlpool Duet Large capacity front load washer has still not been repaired or replaced. We endured about 10 service calls and waiting for more than 20 different parts over the year including an overhaul taking almost 4 hours service time in attempt to fix it but they can't get it to work properly. Problem breeds problem. A and E repairmen (authorized factory rep of Sears, Whirlpool and alot of different manufacturing lines) called the stack line and reported it as not repairable after the 1st overhaul attempt failed but Whirlpool refuses to replace the machine or offer a reasonable monetary compensation. The machine was 3 yrs at our first service call and now has problems much worse with each repair and still not resolved (Initially we heard a noise during the spin and wanted to nip any problem in the bud so we called for service to check it out but the machine worked). After they made attempt over attempt to fix constant problems following this 1st repair we complained because we were without a properly working washer after so many attempts to repair and never mind the mess in my home from malfunction following a repair, thats a whole other story. They offered a 20% discount on a new machine by the first rep and when we said this wasn't satisfactory were offered a 10% discount by a supervisor not knowing (or knowing and being nasty because we were not satisfied with 20%) as the orginal rep offered 20% prior. I don't think this is fair for a 3 yr old $1, 200 washer. Please note it has been used very gently by a couple of older folks in their 50's with no children left in the household not a public laundermat . I am saying this costly machine should be expected to give 10 years service or possibly more. Mean time we used 10 days from work and countless hours on the phone trying to get this machine fixed. I think these big companies know the individual consumer is helpless to do anything and they take advantage. Thats the history. Today the service man was supposed to be here between 8 am and 12 noon after a 3 month wait for all the parts on back order to arrive ( filling my garage and preventing our car from it's home). They are offering an other overhaul costing more than the machine rather then replacing the machine despite the advise of their own repairmen . They call first so you have to leave the phone free as well as wait. No show. I call and am told it won't be longer. 2 pm in the afternoon and still no service. I call again and again. It's now 5pm. I am so frustrated. I am writing this in hopes the consumer can bann together and gain more protection against this mistreatment. I do remember when appliance companies were service and product oriented. Consumer affairs had power or at least time to get involved and protect the individual customer. Companies were not comglomerates (Jennair, Whirlpool, Kitchen aid, Maytag all the same company now) and needed to be competitive by maintaining the integrity of their products and consumer service.
Whats a consumer to do? We need representation and advocacy. No working washer. No show Service. Lost wages. Unending calls. Problem time over a year.

Maytag not worth the price or reputation

Convection & regular oven work the same. It doesn't matter what I'm cooking or what temperate & you pay extra for that! The porcelain is so thin it has chipped off at each point the grate touches or rubs. The pullout draw has 2 gauges in the porcelain from screws in the oven door above it. Poor insulation leaves outside frame pretty hot with normal bake temperatures.

The microwave above doesn't vent (pull out smoke, heat)anything and the installation was ok'd by appliance service.

Jenn-air/Maytag never responded to written complaints except to send me app for extended warranty services. I've bought enough service warranties to cover the cost of a new range. no more Jenn-air for me.

Maytag what a joke!

I have a four year old Maytag Neptune washer that has a worn out spin bearing and I am looking at anywhere between $500 to $700 dollars of repair because it is such an involved repair. After checking on the web, this is a very common compliant about Maytag's Neptune. Maytag customer service--what a joke--only could offer me a 15 percent voucher the purchase of a new clothes washer--what arrogance. Maytag engineers must know of this flaw. I checked Consumer Reports and they rate the Maytag Neptune the highest in repairs of any washer tested.

Our Maytag Neptune has also been troublesome with a spin cycle that wouldn't complete without changing it to the extended spin setting.

Now, it makes noise, but won't do anything and the feedback on the units scares me. Should I even both with the repair of this thing?

We had a Maytag neptune purchase in June 05 and it would cost us 600 to have it repaired -we purchase
a new one in the 3000 series i'm hoping it will last longer . Just 2 people in house using it . If I start having
troule with this on -no more chances. We were stuck between a hard rock because we would have owed the service co over 300 in repairs they wiped it clean. But still on the fence whether we did the right thing.

Maytag I will never buy a maytag again

We also purchased Maytag Legacy Series washer & dryer's four years ago. The washer broke after 2 years and now the dryer is no longer blowing any hot air. I was under the impression that these type of appliances should last much longer (the Kenmore in my last house lasted 20+ years...it was still working when I sold it with my last house).

We were lucky that my husband is quite handy, so he repaired the washing machine (at a cost of $150 for the part). But now we can't even find a "trouble-shooter" to find the part that is broken in the dryer. I will never buy a Maytag again!

My Maytag Legacy Series Quiet series 300 is under 2 years old. I had a repairman look at it and gave me an estimate of $259.00. W T H is going on with Maytag selling garbage appliances? We canot afford to have that kind opf money spent on something that is almost brand new.
What a shame!
Very disapointed!

Maytag door doesn't go all the way down

My maytag door doesn't go all the way down. Model number MDBH955AWS. A&E service has been out to my house many times. One tech said that the door isn't suppose to go all the way down. I have had other dishwashers where the door goes all the way down.
I called Maytag and they said that A&E service wrote that my dishwasher was fine. This is not true. I would like a new dishwasher.
A&E has been to my house for repairs since I bought my dishwasher in March.

I have a Maytag MDBH955AWS. Purchased November 2006 from Home Depot.
I have had 2 electronics boards, 3 Motors, 3 pumps, 2 door seals, numerous other parts. A & E and Maytag are both on speed dial. It is the worst Dishwasher I have ever owned! I am currently waiting for a tub replacement which Maytag is telling me is 7 weeks out. They have extended the warrenty twice. They'll call me back within 48 hours, sure they will! It has ran a total of 6 months in that two years. Maytag has no problem violating Lemon Laws. I will never own another Maytag appliance as long as I live!

Maytag maytag sold their company and their promises do not exist.

I built a new home in 1998 and insisted on all Maytag appliances. The Maytag oven we installed has a white finger touch control panel. My wife and I are both professionals and travel most of the week and eat out or microwave precook meals all the time. The stove was only used 3 or 4 times a year for the last 8 years. The white control panel quit working and an f7 code appeared. We called the company that installed it and they came out and removed the panel. On the back it had a sales sticker that showed it cost $35. When they tried to order it they found that it was not an item that anyone stocked and since Maytag was sold to another company could not be replaced. I got online and searched for several nights and called several places across the US only to confirm that Maytag no longer exists and their appliance parts a no longer being manufacturerd. What is in inventory is all that s available. A $35 dollar part cost me $1300 to purchase a new stove because Maytag no longer exists. I just watched a Maytag commercial on tv and felt I needed to make people aware. MAYTAG SOLD OUT AND THEIR PROMISES DO NOT EXISTS THE NEW COMPANY IS MARKETING THE NAME BUT DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THE APPLIANCES MADE PRIOR TO THE SALES. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A MAYTAG AGAIN.

That isn’t necessarily true. Many companies stop making certain parts for major appliances after the 7 year mark – depending on demand. Your appliance is 10 years old and your particular model, there just might not have been a demand for it. This was true even when Maytag was a stand alone company. And as of right now, there are hundreds of models that were manufactured by Maytag (prior to the sale to Whirlpool), that is currently available and still produced by Whirlpool.

This is a fast moving industry and with its constant updates, changes, and new technology that’s thrown out at us (the everyday consumers), what may have been available for your appliance a few years ago just may not be available now. And while this doesn’t help you now, it also isn’t due to Maytag/Whirlpool’s negligence.

I have a Maytag Neptune MAH4000AWW front loader and the washer quit spinning the clothes. When the cycle was over the clothes were still very wet. In addition, the door locked light on my machine would not come on. After researching this failure I discovered that there were a lot of Neptune owners that had the same failure and that there was a class action...

Maytag broken rollers on the upper racck

The rollers which support the upper rack of my Maytag dishwasher broke and I was unable to obtain replacement parts for the rollers. After several hours talking to Maytag service representatives, the company sent an unrelated part. I contacted a local dealer who attempted to get the part through his supplier. He discovered that Maytag could not supply the individual roller; it was necessary to purchase the entire upper rack to replace the roller. The upper rack was $130 plus shipping.

My husband epoxied and redesigned the wheel attachment to operate the upper rack. I'm certainly disillusioned with the Maytag dishwasher. Previously I was annoyed with its noise level and its inability to clean dishes using dishwasher tab products. A seviceman explained to me that this type dishwasher should be used with a liquid dishwashing product and liquid rinse agent in order to clean dishes effectively. I will not purchase another Maytag and will definitely caution friends and colleagues about Maytag products.

I had the same problem too. Being an engineer I knew I could make a better wheel, so I did. They worked well, and I had some extras so I passed them out to others. Now we're making them and we've helped hundreds of people fix the basket rollers on their dishwashers. Check out http://maytagwheelhubs.com for more information. It's all written up there.

I have the same problems, When it was 2 weeks old they had to replace the pump, it took 6 weeks to get it. It is noisy and does not dry things well. I bought a Maytag because they are said to be good, never again. My 15 year old Kenmore still out preformed this machine.

Sounds like we bought the same dishwasher. I will never buy a loud no clean maytag again. It's two years old makes noise, doesn't clean very well, been repaired once and now the rollers for the slide out basket are broke. you cant just buy the 50 cent roller they want you to buy the hundred dollar basket. to think I paid extra for this piece of ### a maytag

Maytag maytag refrigerator!

Following is a letter I wrote Maytag dependability Plus on February 19, 2008. I had received no reply as of March 11, 2008.I had copied Maytag with the letter. A rep did call to very officiously tell me Maytag would not help in any way and that I should take it up Dependability plus.

I bought the above referenced refrigerator at Jessups Appliances in Venice, Florida, on 1/12/07. While the machine was under warranty it ran constantly. We were told that Mr. Appliance of Punta Gorda FL did the warranty service for Maytag. They subsequently replaced the thermostat, which a technician had found to be faulty. This was done on 12/27/07 under the original warranty.

Shortly thereafter we were solicited by you to buy an extended warranty on the refrigerator. We (my wife and I) bought the plan, but not before asking the rep if Mr. Appliance was authorized to perform service work under it. We were specifically told that Mr. Appliance was an authorized repair company under Dependability Plus.

In late January 2008, we called Mr. Appliance again because the refrigerator was running too frequently again. We did not know if the old thermostat problem had returned or if another problem had developed. We felt comfortable calling Mr. Appliance because we believed they were authorized to do repairs under either the Maytag warranty or the Dependability Plus contract.

On 2/11/08 the Mr. Appliance technician examined our refrigerator and determined that the problem as a “leak in the dryer.” He told us that the freon line had a crimp in it—put there at the time of manufacture— and that it was leaking.

The technician called Dependability Plus to get an authorization number to make the needed repairs. He was told Mr. Appliance had no agreement with Dependability Plus and that he could not be authorized to fix the refrigerator.

I spoke then with your agent and was told the same. Your agent said you would call the dispatcher for the repair company you used who would, within the next 24 hours, contact me to make an appointment to fix our refrigerator.

At this point our refrigerator was sitting in the middle of our kitchen, not running, and leaking freon into a plastic bag the Mr. Appliance tech was using to contain the leakage. We had no way of knowing then when your “authorized” repair people would be here, but we rationally projected it would be at least a day and probably more—after hundreds of dollars worth of food in our refrigerator would be unfit to safely eat. At that point I called Maytag to get their position on the matter and to see if they would authorize repair by Mr. Appliance. No. They passed the buck back to you.

Having relied on your assurance that Mr. Appliance was authorized by Dependability Plus to repair our refrigerator and faced with the distinct likelihood that your repair people would be too late to save our food – causing us a great deal of inconvenience and extra work and you additional expense for reimbursing us – we chose to authorize the Mr. Appliance technician to do the repair work then and there. He did, and it cost us $352.89.

Whatever rationale you may want to use to escape legal liability for this repair bill, the fact remains that we paid for a repair covered by our agreement with you and that the repair was done by a technician employed by a company you had told us was authorized to do repairs. We ask, therefore, that you reimburse us the $352.89 we paid to fix our Maytag refrigerator.

Maytag horrible company!

Maytag is a horrible company! On july 28, 2004, I purchased a maytag neptune top load washing machine, model no. Fav6800aww for $999.00. Today, february 29, 2008, the washing machine is worthless! After one or two washes where the load balance sensor kept tripping and turning the machine off we had an authorized maytag repairman come to fix the machine. He advised that the washer drum, clutch and balance sensor had to be replaced at a cost $822.00. The repairman also advised that it was not worth fixing and to throw it away. He further advised that they have received a lot of calls regarding problems with the maytag neptune washer and that he has seen the same problems over and over when the machines reach an age of approximately four years. The repairman stated that since I purchased the machine maytag has changed the major parts at least twice making the parts hard to find and very expensive.

I contacted maytag with the naïve hope that they would stand behind their product. What a fool I was. When I spoke with the first customer service representative she advised that there were no “quality control” issues with the model. She also implied that the repairman was lying about problems with maytag neptune and that repair technicians often lie about quality control issues during service calls. However, she was sympathetic to my problem and made the generous offer of a 10% discount on the purchase of a new maytag product. I advised that it was unacceptable and asked to speak with a supervisor. A few minutes later she advised the supervisor was on the other line and increased the offer to 15% discount. Given the age of the washing machine I asked for a 50% discount and was cheerfully declined. I spoke with maytag supervisor of customer service ryan tibbett. I explained why the repair was too costly and asked that they send someone out to repair the machine for a reasonable price; $100 to $200). Mr. Ryan explained that maytag does not have repair people (So much for the lonely maytag repairman) and would have to contract with a private company and the cost would be no different for him. As an alternative, I asked that he make arrangements to send replacement and I would pay to have them installed. Mr. Ryan advised that it was not possible for maytag to provide the parts. I told mr. Ryan that after our last washing machine (Not a maytag) which lasted from 1990 to 2004 failed we thought we were buying a top-of-the-line washing machine, which was one of the most expensive washers on the market. I asked mr. Ryan if maytag was going to stand behind their product. Mr. Ryan advised that maytag does stand behind their product for 1 year. Mr. Ryan then explained about the one year warranty. When I express my dissatisfaction with the results, mr. Ryan told me that nothing I say will change the outcome, an offer of 15% discount on a new maytag product. I asked if I could speak to his supervisor and he said no that there is no one else in the company that I could speak to. I asked if he could speak to maytag corporate headquarters on my behalf and he advised me that he was a representative from headquarters and the 15% discount was a headquarters decision. I told mr. Ryan that I would be making complaints regarding his product and he again told me “nothing will change the outcome”.

So hear I am making the first of many complaints about maytag. Long story short: do not buy maytag – horrible products – horrible company!

Based on the complaints I have read about the neptune dryer is sounds as though my dryer’s days are also numbered.

I really appreciate your posting. My Maytag, same as yours, has refused to start its spin cycle for the past 4 loads. It was balking more and more before that. Thanks for saving me the frustration of dealing with Maytag. Why would I want a 15% discount from a manufacturer who consistently fails to make a high quality product? I'll be shopping for a new washer but I'll walk right on by anything from Maytag or Whirlpool (Maytag's corporate owner).

Maytag refrigerator fan quit working

We purchased the Maytag FDR in February 2017, just shy of two years old and the fan for the refrigerator has gone out. The freezer continues to work, but the fan which blows the cool air to the refrigerator is gone. We called the company and had an independent contractor come out to repair. Now we are finding out the part on back order at this point. The cost of replacement part with labor is a quarter of what we paid for the refrigerator. Meanwhile, our food is in the garage in the "yellow" beast that is about 20 years old (age based on the color) and never had any problems...I wish I would have read this board before buying it. Poor quality from a manufacturer that claims their products are repair free and fixing surround sounds on the side to stay busy.

Maytag Product Quality and Extended Warranty Service

We were warned before we purchased the refrigerator not to buy it because it was a Maytag – this was from someone who had so much of a problem with theirs that the refrigerator itself was replaced two (2) times. But we did purchase it and because of their experience purchased the extended warranty.

Approximately six (6) weeks ago on a Saturday evening about 11:00 PM we realized the refrigerator portion of the unit was not working. I immediately called the 800 number for the extended warranty, and after waiting on the phone for 30 minutes finally hung up – never having spoken to anyone. The following morning (Sunday) I called about 8:00 AM and spoke to someone immediately, who took all of the information, and then proceeded to inform me that they would contact a repair Company in my area on the following Day, Monday. Monday morning, I received a call telling me that the service call had been referred to a company approximately 20 miles away.

I was called later by the repair company and informed that it would be the following day, Tuesday, before they would be able to make the service call.

So much for 24 hour extended warranty coverage!

The serviceman arrived on Tuesday as scheduled and after determining what the problem was (a small fan which circulates cold air from the freezer to the refrigeration section), called a local parts supplier to determine the availability of the part. The part was available, and much to his surprise and mine, there were 44 of the fans in stock. Both myself and the serviceman questioned why a product less than 2 years old would have that many replacement parts stocked locally. It is not a good omen when a single part is stocked in such volume for an item so new. the serviceman went and picked up two (2) of the fans – he rationalized he would probably need another in the near future, so he might as well have one in his truck.

The serviceman did his job, and did it well, but certainly the overall quality of the end product is questionable and the Maytag extended warranty did not respond in a timely manner.

Maytag extended warranty rip off!

I purchased my Maytag dishwasher a couple of years ago. The first time I had a repairman out for service, I purchased an extended warranty from him. All that I received was a credit card receipt and a Certificate Number to show that I had coverage. I never received any contract in the mail and was told to set up service, I could schedule online - which I have been doing. I recently made an appointment online for a technician to come out, and when he did, he confirmed what I explained what was the problem, and then told me that I must pay him $65 for the service call. He said that I had no coverage and after an hour and a half on the phone with Maytag Dependability Plus customer service - I ended up paying him more than I paid for the extended warranty. They suddenly changed the rules and stated that I must call them first and get a claim number and let them schedule the service call or they would not pay. They also informed me that they do not cover all parts and service under their warranty and that they would not order my part. You see, my middle rack broke, and the technician said that in order to fix it, he would have to order a completely new rack - which Maytag claims they will not cover. He informed me that it would involve more than just sliding out the old rack and replacing with the new. After speaking with a supervisor for some time, she finally agreed to order the part and ship it to me, but said that they would not send a technician out to replace the rack and that I would have to do it myself.

How can they not send you any documentation and then change the rules as they go along. Seems to me after seeing all of the complaints against them, that someone would see this and start a class action lawsuit against Maytag for deceptive practices. I can't believe this because I have always heard that Maytag has the best appliances and the best service. What a rip off.

I have had tremendous difficulty with getting service under my extended coverage policy from Maytag Dependabilty Plus. After four weeks without a washer waiting for service, I was finally told by them that my warranty is being canceled, because the repair cost is too high! I am one and one half years into a three year policy, and the machine is only two and one half years old!

The customer service people are trained in sidestepping the issue, delaying progress, and work from scripts. When I ask to speak to a supervisor, they say they will e-mail one to call me back within 24 hours. The supervisor has no more knowledge than any other customer service rep. Every call in requires the same routine, even after opening up a claim #, and giving it to them! I need to repeat my information, including the washer's serial #, model #, place and date of purchase... absolutely absurd.

My Maytag Lemon has been replaced by a new Kenmore, as I have already spent $300 in laundromats over the last 4 weeks doing Laundry for a family of 6.

My recommendation to anyone is NEVER purchase a Maytag Dependability Plus Extended Service Plan, and as far as the actual appliances... my experience using the warranty should speak volumes about the product itself.

Maytag Washer and Dryer purchased at Pacific Sales in Carlsbad California. I paid good money for my washer and dryer along with the extended Warranty. No one waited 3 Months for my money.

- I called in april 2006 to have both washer and dryer repaired a tech came out and I had to call the next day to say they both didn't work. They rescheduled for 2 weeks as the soonest it could be repaired.

- Since that time - appointments have been canceled without a call to me many, many, many times.

- Always schedule for 2 weeks more.

- It never mattered if I spoke to a supervisor or not they always told me there was nothing they could do.

- Information in everyones data base is different from the factory services dept extended warranty all brands services etc.

- A supervisor will say it was rescheduled because of a part and I am told it is because the tech is sick.

- What I have learned that is a big problem everytime a tech cancels, the part is sent to someone else across the country hopefully by the time the new date they have rescheduled you they can get more parts and if they can't guess what they push it out 2 weeks more..

- I am angry, that I have been treated with so much disrespect. Lied to repeatedly, with no consideration that this has gone on for 3 months plus. I have had to cancel doctors appointments, and not attend a funeral believe it or not. As it was going to be pushed back 3 plus weeks if I did not take it.

- I have had to have people assist me in clearing out my laundry room so they could do the repair as I am disabled.

- If you have had any success in getting maytag to repair your washer or dryer, or you got the number of the president of maytag or maytag dependability plus, please email me at janice@icoe.us

- Has anyone been bought out this was offered to me today. To give me approximately ¾ of what my purchase price was, I would not get the check for 2-3 weeks, and then I would need to buy a washer and dryer and have delivered that would probably take 2 more weeks

Another month with no washer and dryer.

Please if you are considering maytag think twice and above all do not get the extended warranty... They do not honor what you pay for.

Maytag has come out several times to replace an auto damper 6-8 times in my New refrigerator bought in 2006 and now refuse to fix it any further. They say noise is not a reason to fix it as the unit as still works, yet they fixed it in the past.
Maytag extended warranty is not worth the money or the paper it is printed on.
Even trying to work with the store, Maytag and contacting the BBB is still have to listen to this loud and noisy refrigerator.

I have three maytag appliances in my home and I will NEVER buy a MAYTAG appliance again.

So for all of you wanting to buy a Maytag product, DON'T as you will be sorry

How do these people stay in business, worst customer service as far as repairs, I have dealt with in my life. One day they didn't even show-up, and didn't bother to call!

I have had nothing but problems with my BRAND NEW Maytag 4000 series & Dryer 5000 series. I bought these appliances in Sept. 2010. The dryer's lint flter pieces fell apart within the first few times of usage. From literally day one of using the washer upon spin cycle it sounded like a jet engine taking off. It is so loud I have to plug my ears when I go into the laundry room. A repairmen this week in February 25, 2011, told my husband we should get a new replacement on the washer because it would be a lot of repairing on the washer. It needs a new outer tub, inner basket & spinner assembly. We called the corporate office & we were told that Whirlpool has to come repair it at least 3 times first. How ridiculous is that when it was brand new & I have had these issues. It is a no brainer! It is not their $2000 down the toilet! We already had problems just geting the repair people out to replace a pedistal that was damaged. Talk about cancellations like I have read of others going through. I agree we need a class action. I just want a washer & dryer that works for the money that was paid out!

fridge goes on the blink at 2am wed. morn. 6/9/10, ice maker door flapping away driving the dog crazy, in turn waking the whole house. I call MDP that morning at 8am, they say they can only fax the repair shop so it may take 24 hrs to get someone there, I say what about the food in the fridge? (i had to unplug the fridge cause the flapping noise is driving everyone crazy) they say when the repair man comes, tell him and he will in turn verify it to us . I say okay, when will they call? they say I will hear from them between 8and 5 thursday, I say okay. No call thursday, so I call MDP again and tell them the story. friday noontime i get a call from the repair company, Yale Lighting and Appliance in mansfield ma. They tell me it will cost me $200 plus parts and labor! I tell them I have a contract, and they say well you didnt buy the fridge from us so you will have to pay. I call MDP again and get the same old run around, finally I tell the girl on the phone to let me talk to her supervisor, He's in a meeting but he will call you as soon as he gets out, that was 7 hrs ago, still no call. So here i sit waiting for them to get back to me, $225 worth of food to the dump! Why are these people getting away with this? This couldnt happen at a worse time, been outa work for 18 months and they have the gall to blow me off after hooking me up with some half assed repair shop that wants to charge me an arm and a leg to fix something that was supposed to be covered under this "policy" ? Whos running MDP BERNIE MADOFF? I say lets get together and sue the balls off of these corrupt SOB's

I like many others was going to purchase an extended service contract with DEPENDABILITY PLUS; I won’t even place the Maytag name in front being Maytag has nothing to do with them They’re a 3rd party company using the Maytag name for business (which Maytag/Whirlpool should put a stop to). First off the company is a complete rip off! I wouldn't trust them to throw dirt on my casket after I've passed away!

I was on the Maytag website and noticed the extended contract was cheaper than what was offered when my husband and I purchased our new washer/dryer set. So we decided to go ahead and extend online. After submitting all of my information including payment I received an error message stating there was an error in getting my conformation code but it will be emailed to me within 24-48 hrs. Something seemed a bit odd so I called and spoke with the 1st rep. who also seemed a bit odd and off when she quickly looked me up and was so eager and happy to say "Oh no payment's gone through I can take that now for you!". Was she serious, I mean did she really think that I was going to pay again twice? May I add that upon calling them the 1st time I was placed on hold so too many times to remember because they had incorrect information in "their system" on me such as address, purchase date names and numbers! I couldn't figure out how the even had my address listed as a PO Box when I've never contacted them before. So after getting all of that straight (so I thought), I hang up with the off the wall money hungry rep., I wait a few minutes them I call back because something didn't seem right. Now the 2nd rep. tries to verify my mailing address for security reasons...uh this is very interesting. So after he looks up the account in "their system” I’m on hold again!

Here we go ROUND 2! Once again they have incorrect information, so I'm on hold again and all of a sudden we're disconnected. I call back for ROUND 3! Rep. Number 3 who name begins with V seems to be legit. I explain to her the issue (3rd time doing so in 1 hr). She then tells me the company has been experiencing web issues. After this blah-blah-blah she quotes me an over the top price which is obviously way more than what I thought I was paying for online. I then tell her that's way more than online and asked why. So after some more blah-blah she and a supervisor agree to honor the online price if the payment didn't go through online. I was then instructed to give it a couple of days and call back if I don't get the confirmation email. I take the reps name just in case someone all of a sudden develops a case of amnesia. Ok so I wait and wait and wait, a week later still no confirmation email. I go back to the site which doesn't even let you get further than entering what type of appliance you want a quote on before giving a website error message. Here we go again ROUND 4! I call and immediately tell the rep. that unfortunately gets my call that I would like to leave a message for V. being she took my call and was familiar with the situation.

Mr. Jarred then goes on talking about how he’s the only Jarred there and the name his name is slowly becoming popular because of the Subway guy…hush who really cares! So Jared tries to sell me an extended contract costing more than the online site and more than what all 3 reps quoted to me last week! WHAT ARE YOU SERIOUS! Here we go again, after going through the entire story again he tells me they can't honor the price, I say yes a rep. and supervisor told me on XX date that it will be honored they would have to handwrite in the price. Once I say that he all of a sudden remembers...oh yeah thank you for saying that, yes they can. He puts me on hold fpr the 4th time then comes back telling me oh my supervisor says we can't because that's the price from our old site and we have a new site (which Maytag's site doesn't direct you to). I tell him to put his supervisor on the line! ROUND 5! She gets on and once again I explain the situation she says the same blah-blah, I tell her put her supervisor on because she's not making any sense to me!

Here we go ROUND 6! This lady whose name I won’t mention but it does begin with MAR and end in LENE. So she gets on the phone trying to say whatever while cutting me off whenever I try to speak! Now by this time I have an outer body experience and let her have it while still being the professional that I am. I tell her it's time out for her to be talking to me she needs to listen because I'm the paying customer! She gives me the same old blah-blah then says a reps. word doesn't hold up...uhh ok! I let her know that I will add to the 200 something complaints already placed on their company within the past 4 months to the BBB. I also let her know that I hate handling business over the phone especially when the person on the other end isn't in the same state or location because you always get the round around and that I like to say what I have to say in your face so nothing gets twisted. She apologizes for me feeling that way and says she will discuss this at the morning meeting to see what can be done but doesn't guarantee anything...well go freaking figure! By the way they never put me through to Valerie's line saying at first they couldn't when I was told they could, then after I pointed that out to them they tried to say they didn't know who she was then covering that up by saying well she's not in today.

ROUND 7! So Marlene calls me back the next morning with more blah-blah, when she finishes I then try to tell her that It's ok because my we've decided not to go with their rip off company and will contact BBB she tries once again to cut me off so I say what I have to then as politely let her discuss anything further with my dial tone! TKO I'm so done with those idiots and will write a complaint on every complaint board that I can find! My advice read the complaints and DON'T PAY THEM ANYTHING, THEY ARE RIP OFFS!

I called my DEPENDABILITY PLUS EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN last Monday Oct. 3 2009. Still have not heard from them, they lost my plan. I had to email them a copy of my reciept and two days later they still did not have it on record. I paid for a local tech to fix the unit, I actually need my dryer and do not have time for a service plan like this.

My advice- NEVER purchase a DEPENDABILITY PLUS EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN.

Maytag blinking lights!

We had the same problem as sooo many others, but we had good luck with getting the bad HV board replaced free of charge even though our frig. was 4 mos. out of warranty. It seems to help if you mention this website when you call and tell them you know the scope of this problem. All in all, we were pleased with the service we received. We had a new board at our house within three days and installed the next. I did have to help him with the programming, this was only his second repair for this problem. we've been pleased with this frig. otherwise, I just hope there are no other problems headed our way.

Maytag condensation

I purchased a maytag french door refrigerator from sears. After 7 repair visits-it is still not working correctly. I have a warranty by sears they came out 4 times. Then they send an independent contractor. The independent contractor said it could not be fixed. Next thing I hear is that parts were ordered 10/06 to fix the condensation inside the doors. No part has ever arrived. Ups says the box was empty because the parts fell out of the box...? Now the independent contractor must come out again and order parts again. (Wonder when they will arrive) if you pay attention to the warrenty you must have major parts put on 4 times before you can call this a lemon. This was a lemon from day one. I always felt secure purchasing from sear and with a warranty also. But it seems this is not the way it goes when maytag is involved.
The question now is what do I do next?

Maytag maytag french door refrigerator

Maytag French Door Bottom Freezer, Model MFI 2568AEB purchased in June 2006 and immediately experienced problems with food freezing in bottom drawer and fruit drawer. Phoned for service while under warranty and repaired with no charge. A broken thermostat slider was the problem. Second problem occurred January 2008, damper door is opening and closing on it's own and dispenser lights are flashing when compressor turns on. Placed a call to Maytag and still awaiting response.

Encourage others to report problems to the Consumer Product Safety Commission at www.cpsc.gov (especially if you have property damage and Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov (complaint form). The more people that file formal complaints, the more likely a product recall will occur.
