North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] undisclosed charging / enforcement extortion

I have received unsolicited draconian type bill for X$ for supposedly exercising life, liberty and the pursuits of happiness driving on what I had no idea were 'toll' roads in [my] country. How can I be billed/charged in what by all accounts doesn't hold up to contract law? How can the gq public be extorted for using it's own roads?
How can any psuedo governmental organization legally engage in such extortion where people have no recourse?
If there is recourse how is it that this fact is conveniently omitted from such 'billing' correspondence such as were the charges for the tolls in the first place?
This is like receiving a bill for breathing after the fact without first knowing you will be charged for breathing.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] fradulent billing

I received bill for four Tolls amounting to $1.86. I have lived in Dallas and driven the same roads for 30+ years and NEVER USE THE TOLLROADS. It appears that public streets like Spring Valley at the North Dallas Tollway intersection and being used by NTTA cameras to capture license plates and bill people. I commute to Irving every day and have never received a bill from NTTA until December 2013. The bill contains codes PGBT-CRIRD-03, DNT-SPVRD-03, PGBT-FIRPY-03, PGBT-CRIRD-02. I only found DNT-SPVRD-03 on the NTTA website (as Spring Valley). The others are not listed on their site. There is no way this is legal. The disappointing part about all of this is that no one will prosecute the NTTA management and send them to jail. IF YOU USE THE TOLLROADS I AM ASKING THAT YOU STOP DOING SO IMMEDIATELY. DRIVE NTTA'S REVENUE DOWN TO ZERO. DFW IS OVERPOPULATED. ADVISE PEOPLE IN OTHER STATES AND CITIES THAT YOU KNOW TO NEVER COME TO DFW FOR ANY REASON. DFW HAS BEEN INFILTRATED BY THE COMMUNIST PARTY AND ARE HARD AT WORK TO STEAL EVERYTHING YOU OWN.

NTTA charged me a late fee of $10 for being late on an 0.84 cent charge. The fee is 12 times higher than the charge.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] stop and review your bill

wow i got anxiety over this day light robbery. So i take the tollway sometimes and i stay on top of my bill payments especially to ensure the "Administrative fee" is not applied for payment being late. Oct 19 2013 i go into the online payment of NTTA, i pay up all i owe including uninvoiced charges, so am at 0 balance as far as i know. Come early december i got a past due bill in the mail for using the tollway in october with $10 administrative fee applied to it, i was totally confused, i call them up, the lady tries to twist my words totally confusing me yet when i called i had my facts clear, puts me on hold and gets back on saying they will wave the administrative fee as a one time courtesy, am like ok you are going to use my one time coutesy late fee waiver for a mistake on your end? All because your balances don't stay updated like they should. I would think they make enough money to ensure good service. To think how many people pay for late fees they shouldn't be paying. I asked to speak with the supervisor to express my concern, lets just say i waited enough to know that the supervisor was not about to get on the phone.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] billing

At the end of June I went to Dallas for a family reunion. We drove all over the area, utilizing the tollways.

Obviously, in July, I was sent a bill. The bill totaled $9.30, which I promptly paid. They payment was posted to my checking account Aug. 5, three days before the due date of Aug. 8.

Sometime in August, I received a second bill in the amount of $14.26 with a due date of Sept. 7, 2013. Since I had the previous invoice, I compared the two. Six of the charges were also on the previous invoice!

Subtracting those charges, I came to the conclusion that I owed $7.56. I called NTTA and they did not seem to understand or care. Therefore, I sent a check ($7.56) and a letter along with the two invoices to NTTA and asked them to please call me if I was misunderstanding anything. I received correspondence from NTTA leading me to believe the matter was closed. Today, however, I received a new bill for the $14.26 and an $8 administrative fee for not paying my bill. I called NTTA again and finally got a supervisor. She gave me a list of charges the $9.30 covered. I NEVER RECEIVED A BILL FOR THESE CHARGES! Therefore, for someone who likes to know what he is paying for, how am I supposed to know.

The supervisor says she understood my confusion, but she would not waive the fee unless I opened up a tolltag account. I live in Lubbock, Texas. Why in the world do I need a tolltag?

I am being punished for thoroughly reviewing my bills. I tried to make contact and received nothing in return. They sent me a bill, I paid it. They never notified me of closing an invoice and then administering charges that were never billed. Makes no sense.

I now have to pay the amount as they will send a bill in the amount of $88.26 if I do not. What a crock. All I wanted was an explanation...

To be fair to NTTA, a customer service rep did contact me and resolved the issue. It's all about getting in touch with the right person. I'm thinking the operators do not have all the info. It appears they did not overcharge me. Regardless, it has been resolved to my satisfaction.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] overcharging

COMPLAINT regarding overcharging by Zipcash when I gave them the correct address tied to a debit card in December of 2012. Then NTTA keeps trying to charge my card with the wrong address so it gets declined. Customer Service (Heather) flat out LIED and said that the address had nothing to do with the credit card going through. WRONG! Using the incorrect address, it was declined...using the correct address (that I supplied MONTHS AGO), it miraculously clears! During the same phone call! What a LIAR! THOSE PEOPLE ARE JUST A BUNCH OF CROOKS!

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] failure to follow protocol

I was recently a victim of credit fraud through NTTA. Someone added themselves to my account, making my car’s toll tag deactivated, and making theirs the primary vehicle. When I contacted NTTA I was told that someone came into their facility and showed my ID, gave my name, address, email, phone number, and DL number. Because of that, I was unable to refunded. In so many words, they said they didn’t believe that it wasn’t me who added the vehicle. My TollTag account was drained of the funds I had in there by daily use from the perp. When I called Plano PD and did a police report, the woman I spoke to said that is NOT the first time she has had that SAME report about NTTA. The person who added themselves to my account was a MAN (I am a woman) so obviously if an ID was checked or a name verified, this misrepresentation would have been noticed. Their office obviously does not follow protocol and just added someone to an account willy nilly even though when I call I pretty much have to hand over my arm to verify I am who I say I am. I had to involve my bank to get my money back.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] late fees

Several times I recieved Toll invoice from NTTA, these invoices are always a FIRST or SECOND NOTICE OF NONPAYMENT and already includes a late fee. I never got a new invoice in the first place. I contacted NTTA several times before to complain because I never got the original invoice. What a coincidence that I always receive the NONPAYMENT notices one right after the other, but never the original invoice. At one time I was invoiced for over $2000 that icluded tolls and late fees for over a year.
Also, It's impossible to check balance or amount due in the NTTA website if you don't have the invoice number. A very well planned scam to overcharge for a service that should be free in the first place.

Why do you choose not to pay these invoices? Did you drive on one of NTTA's roads or not? You are either an idiot or a thief!

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] invoice a year later

I got an invoice dated due 12-6-12, with a photo of one of my license plates from JULY and NOVEMBER 2011. First of all it was almost a year later that I get this invoice. And second, we live 300 miles from the Tollway in Dallas, and I don't recall driving on the tollway. Is it possible they send an invoice that much later, thinking it won't be questioned? Am I responsible for it after almost a year later getting an invoice?

I had the same question and called the NTTA. They told me they have a rule about how many toll charges they have to have for your license plate before they will send you an invoice. They said that until a couple of months ago, that number was 5. So if you had 4 charges on your license plate, you would not get an invoice until you got that 5th charge. Those 4 charges could get really old if you only come to Dallas on rare occasions.. Then, the folks at NTTA told me that they had recently changed that rule from 5 to 3. All those old transactions at 3 and 4 got invoiced, but only those that happened in 2011 and 2012. Hope that helps. And, yes, as far as I know, you are still have to pay for those old charges. If you a get TollTag, you want have this problem and you pay less for your tolls.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] late invoice

I just received an invoice, the first week of November 2012, with tolls it says I drove on in Dallas back in January 2011. Why does it take more than 20 months to send me a bill? The picture of the license plate is so dark that one of the numbers could be a 6 instead of an 8.

I think I was in town for a friends birthday back then, but I can't remember, and if I was, I would have avoided posted tolls at all costs, as I hate them. Either way, this is ridiculous. Is there a statute of limitations on collecting tolls?

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] ridiculous costs

I will never drive on this toll road again. $180 bill and it is not my daily driver. Much rather drive an additional 10 min to work than drive on this again. Unfortunately for the ntta, this is the same response I receive from anyone I talk to about the toll road. What a waste of money by the state. Perhaps more people would drive it if the tolls were not so high. Terrible.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] shoddy records/billing

Received notice from my bank that I had an outstanding check that hadn't been cashed by NTTA - Zip Cash from mid August, during that same period I received a refund check from them for $20. Nothing on the account reflects a refund, nothing reflects that there should still be a balance owed from the over payments I've made. I spoke to the center and was advised that I still owe about $45 for a $9.90 toll charge that I haven't received a bill on, the only $9.90 charge on my bills is showing as paid. He was kind enough to remove the late fees, but I'm not paying until I get a bill that shows me what it's for. The bills reflect that they were paid electronically and by check, I've only paid one way - though my bill pay service who sends them a physical check. Rather than establishing a single identity though driver's license/name/address, they like to confuse the users by creating multiple accounts under the license plates so that if you do send a payment it will go to the wrong account and not get posted, living large through those late fees. I'm not getting my notices in a consistent/timely manner, evidently one is still hanging out there that I'm getting charged over $6.00 on each point I went though - gonna love to see that - and the invoices that they emailed me don't reflect this...Are they pulling rabbits out of their hats or what? Someone needs to do an audit and trace every single penny, begin auditing for themes. I told the guy I completely understand why people aren't paying their fines, they are beyond reasonable. I feel like state government sold us out for the benefit of more profiteering.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] billiing

We live in Oklahoma and visit our daughter and family in Dallas Texas from time to time. We just received a bill that starts back at 8/17/2010 through 10/9/2011. First bill we have received and surprised that it is three separate invoices. Would liked to have received them earlier so it would not be so much. I might add, they stopped having toll booths on GBF some time ago and I would much rather stop at a booth, since we do not live there. At least in Oklahoma, we are man enough to steel your money face to face...

Had a similar problem in Texas with Texas Tag.
http://www.txtag.org/index.php
I used the toll road to go to Austin and then come back to San Antonio.
Being the first time using the toll road I was expecting an invoice in my home but I did not get it. Since I drive a company car my company got the bill in March 13th. There was an internal miscommunication and then we got a Notice of Violation for $39.96.
The bill showed a due date of 5/22/13.
On 5/21 I called to pay my bill by credit card (Tried to do it on line but the system did not allow me). When I called to pay the $39.96 they told me that the amount was not $39.96 but 87 and some dollars! I do not understand since the Notice of Violation [protected] was showing $39.96 and it showed it must be received by 5/22/13 to avoid additional fees.
This motivates me not to use the toll road never again.
I will also bring this complain to the Texas Department of Transportation.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] late charges/collections!

I have always paid my zip cash invoices, I will admit maybe one or two late but this is just ridiculous.
First of all I never received a bill or any indication that I owed money to the company, second of all the only notice I get for said charges is a collections agency!
When I call NTTA to see what the heck is going on I speak to a rep and then speak with a manager, well the manger (Melba Siebel) gives me the run around and says there is nothing they can do and that I would have to contact the collections law firm which now has the case.
She gives me the information of LGS with my so called case number as well the person whom I will be speaking with.
The following day (today) I call said person and leave a voice mail turns out that the said person is not from the agency she is a CUSTOMER OF NTTA also in a dispute with them because she is getting invoices from years back. ( I will not release the name of said person because I do not have their permission) Although she was nice enough to give me the name and contact information for the Assistant director of the LGS group whom I will be in contact with shortly.
I am not going to stand for this and something needs to be done just like everyone on this site is saying.

Called to make a payment on my tolls as I have always done for the last year and half. The customer Service person did not tell me I had any violation invoices that needed to be apid before it goes to collections. In fact this imcompentant employee applied my $100 to current invoices! The next time I called to make another payment i was told the account went o collections 3 wks after my last call! the original tolls were 211.10 but the amount sent to collections was 2, 300.00! I spoke to one supervisor who did not want to listen at all, then I was transferred to another but told it takes 6 months for the Collection Agency to return my account to NTTA after I make the request! This is not only highway robbery (literally) but complete injustice as they are the ones at fault.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] fraudulant charges

NTTA is a private company that is out to only to take your money. You can pay your bill and not get posted. These ridiculous fee's have got out of hand. Its Fraud, to post that it cost .75 to drive and send you a bill for ten times the amount and then if you don't get the bill it will go up 50 times the amount. This needs to be stopped. I have paid my bill and today it has gone up to over 4000%. Lets do something about it.

They are a joke. Worse yet they are theives. They charged me full picking up my son (Should have been $3) for a full day $14 because their equipment malfunctioned and did not registared my entry but registared my exit. They were informed 2 months ago that their charge was unauthorzed and they refused to return the money. I simply collected my money another way. They are so stupid to think they can rip people off.

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] retro-billing

I received a bill in October 2010 for $15. Paid it. Less than a month later, I received ANOTHER BILL for $19. Paid it. Yesterday, I received 3 invoices in the mail (Dec 6, 2011), all CONSECUTIVE INVOICE NUMBERS, for over $100. When I checked the dates of these tolls, they were from [protected], WITH TODAY'S RATE CHARGES ($1.62, $1.78, $.91)! As of November 2010 I had a ZERO BALANCE with the NTTA. When I called about the obviously WRONG charges, the supervisor was very rude and was no help to me at all. She let me know that these particular invoices "were lost in the shuffle" and are JUST NOW being billed, and it wasn't her problem. She also stated that there were LOTS of bills that went out like that. When asked "Why are we being billed for 4 years ago, when we had a zero balance?" She let us know again that we were billed late and she's "sorry" but failure to pay these tolls would result in a citation from the DPS office. This is a total scam! So pay the bill or else? Each invoice is over $30, and all of them are from the years [protected]! Please explain to me HOW this is legal--and WHO AUDITS THE NTTA? I will never use the tollways again. Someone needs to invesitgate this company. $2.50 late fee, $6.60 fee PER TOLL if not paid by due date, court fees, admin fees, and a DPS citation if necessary. Word to the wise---STAY OFF THE TOLLWAYS!

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] admin charges

After a friend used my bike 2 years ago on toll road, an original toll total of $11 became $200. I received no bills untill August 2011 when I got final demamnd from collection agency. Costs were now added, an admin charge of $25 for each of the 9 entries. I did not know it was even legal to charge fines of over 18 times more than the original charge. Have never experienced anything like this before. And no, I will not be driving on any NTTA toll roads again. Thought in America we had rights and protection by the laws. Not so sure of that statement anymore.

I am 100% in agreement with you! I had a similar situation and had $500 turned over to collections when the original tolls were around $50 for 3 violations. It is rediculous that they can charge this to the consumer and get away with it. I have made several calls and talked to several supervisors and they don't care. No one is listening or trying to cooperation with me in making the original toll payments. I've been a toll tag customer for 10 years and this is how they treat customers. I am all for paying the toll because it is a nice highway but I am just at a loss of what to do. Any suggestions?

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] change made booths on gwb???

What is up with building the change made booths on GWB (190) tollway?Did the state just have extra money laying around in the budget for all the added materials to make these booths...but not utilize them? or is this a ploy to get you to take the tollway thinking you can throw change in it and when actually getting to the booth it says "Don't worry, we'll bill you." but then it's to late to turn around and take an alternate route. What the what! If they would just give people the jobs to make change, collect the money to carry to the NTTA office and many other assorted jobs this would create, instead of charging outrageous administrative fees for things that everyone knows is computer generated. The computer programs of today do not need a person to actually enter the info of each car that goes thur the booth. The camera at the booths, the computer program and the TXDMV database (which is collected when you pay your auto registration every year) all work together, No human input needed because it was already there thanks to the database (which is used for hundreds of other things). How stupid does NTTA think the Texas people are? NTTA would have more people paying their tolls if the person were given the opportunity to pay at the time they use the toll road. Instead, NTTA waste the time of police officers, constables or sheriffs office, court clerks, judges...(I could go on but whats the use) trying to collect a fee that starts as a mere .43 and now that it's reached the court system has balloon to a whooping $1, 100. And if NTTA has went as far as to prosecute you and a warrant is issued, now a 68 year old confused woman is under arrest and has a police record all because she was not given the opportunity to throw her .43 cents in at the time she entered GWB. And may I also add it clearly says something that YOU can read at the beginning of the entrance ramp up by the booths...CHANGE MADE...what you can not easily read until you are at the booths is...WE'LL BILL YOU...A case of fraud...I think so, because I and no other person I've talked with has ever seen a single human being working in the change made booth. Another Texas Job Opportunity Lost in this corrupt system!

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] over charge

NTTA Texas is ridiculous with its penalities. I received a toll notice #33.63 due August (I admit) was late, next notice I received was for $833.63. Never received any other notices for being late, only original notice then violation invoice. Original notice does say a $2.50 late fee will be assesssed if not received by due date. Per their notice (on the back) here is how it should go. 30day invoice--cost of tolls only. 15 days late notice--cost of tolls plus addtl $2.50 late fee. 30 days violation---cost of tolls, plus $8.25 admin fee per toll. 180 days collections--cost of tolls, plus $25.00 admin fee per toll. DPS citation--cost of tolls plus $25.00 admin fee per toll. 200 days JP court--cost of tolls, $25.00 admin fee per toll, penalties & court cost. Well, I received a notice from an attorney office stating I owe $2, 077.46 as of October 8th. Now, I am no mathmatcian but I do know that from Aug-Oct its only 60 days, so why am I being assessed $25.oo admin fee and it has not been 180 days? Received this notice today 10/18/2011. Will give you an update after speaking to NTTA & attorneys.

They did the same thing to me a couple of times sent me bills for ridiculous amounts said they had been trying to reach me but didn't have my correct address, Humm you found me when the bill got up to(your admin fees) 600.00 Really? So after that I kept calling back just to make sure I was current and they kept the correct address on file, I don't move around. So low and behold what did I get today in the mail 4 invoices 4! all the way back 2010 even tho I just called and paid my bill and was told that was all I owed it was like 5.& some odd cents not much cause like I said I kept it caught up sooo there were no problems now she telling me yes they were in a oce file or something idk, and that it was good because it kept me from getting charged admin fees and I can pay it out, are you serious so then I requested to speak to someone else and got ANGLE JAQUESS the call center supervisor, said if I don't pay this fee there will be an additional 6.60 PER TRANSACTION And it gets better she seeing another 53 dollars that have been sent out yet, lol here's your bill but not all of it, well bill you when it gets up to an amount you can't pay so we can tac on the ridiculous admin fees! Thank you very much! And for the record I was told I could have till the middle of Feb to pay it, snh probably have fees added in lets see, but yeah someone else needs to take that over! This don't stop here...

North Texas Tollway Authority [NTTA] never receiving bills

I am sick and tired of paying late/administrative fees on tolls that I never knew existed! I have given this company so much money to avoid collections on bills I never received in the first place. They are scammers! I even bought a toll tag, yet tolls summons from 6-8 months ago still trickle in! Please help! Get your crap together NTTA.

Got an invoice for 6.62 in tolls invoice to be paid 3/26/2012

Sent check stub to NTTA showing the car was sold on 1/25/2011 for junk since it was wrecked on 7/14/2010. Got another invoice for $39.62 in May 2012 for same vehicle. Called the people who the car was sold to and they said there were no plates on the car when they got it. Called NTTA back and asked how they took a picture of a wrecked car in feb of 2012. The lady I talked to looked up the transactions and the last three transactions did not belong to our car. The transaction was a V when ours was a Y. How many people are paying for someone elses bill without knowing it. If you ever go to court over a toll invoice ask them to produce every single transaction with the picture. I will get a refund but have to wait 30 days to put in for it. Cute huh.

I just received a "bill" from Southwest Credit for over $500! NEVER have I had a notice from NTTA. I have two cars with perfectly good toll tags. Not only am I suspicious about the credibility or Southwest Credit, I'm getting even more suspicious of a coordinated scam between NTTA and the credit collecting gestapo. Far too many of these cases for them to be considered "rare and unfortunate occurrences".
STAND FIRM PEOPLE! OUR GOVERNMENT AND ITS MINIONS ARE ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE!
