Bad vision exam, cheap quality of frames, defective lense, poor customer service.
In June, I had a vision exam at a PV store. What I needed was reading glasses, but I also wanted to check out my distance vision which I thought was already excellent. After the exam, I purchased Flexiron frames with blended bi-focal lenses (very small adjustment to distance). About 7-10 days later, I noticed a corner of one of the lenses had clouded up interally somehow, and about 3/8ths inch of the finish on the metal frames had worn off across the nose and between the lenses. Also, I could see distances much better without the glasses than with them.
A PV technician said the defective lense was not centered correctly when made thereby causing the defect, and that the frame could be re-finished to look new. He said the defective lense is probably what caused the distance problem. I was told the glasses would be "fixed" within 10 business days. After 21 business days I called and was told they had sent me several text messages but with no response. I asked them what number they sent the text messages to and they were to my landline (I never gave them my cell number). No attempts to call me. When I picked up the glasses the employee handed them to me and walked off without saying anything. My distance sight is still worse with the glasses, and the frame was never refinished. DO NOT GO TO PV!
Desired outcome: Improve quality control, hire and promote promote quality customer services in all positions, closely monitor employee performances, and focus on immediate corrective action (new management) where needed.
Sunglasses
I had my eye exam I got my regular glasses which are fine no problem at all. I also bought lens for a pair of sunglasses frames I had. I have taken them back 4 times and they were still not right blurry vision looked like the objects were right in front of me. Finally I went back and asked for a refund. The lady took the lens out of my frames printed up a paper and wrote refund on top and stated she would give to the manager. A couple weeks went by and I never got a refund. Called talked to the manager and he stated he doesn’t give refunds it was my loss. I received a birthday gift for free sun lenses was wondering if I could just bring in another set of frames and get the regular lens in then instead of sun lens since the prescription should be the same and I have a magnetic frame that can be used for sun glasses. I think this should be made right since the lens are already paid for out of pocket and me being a senior citizen. Eye glasses
On 2-Nov-2022 I had eye appt and purchased lenses and frames in the same Pearle Vision store (Burlington, MA). I wanted a metal frame. I told the clerk I had good luck with 'Flexon' before. She suggested I look at Silhoutette brand, which I purchased. I picked up the new glasses on 7-Nov-2022. While adjusting the frame, the clerk told me she damaged the lenses with the heat. She told me to take the glasses with me that I could still wear them. When I took the frames home I realized these are plastic, and not the metal ones I came for. Also, the lens is too large in area, which does not allow me to 'peak down' (I do not have progressive, I peak down without lens). I went to the store to return the damaged glasses today (12-Nov). The clerk told me this cannot be done because she ordered new frames and lenses already (btw - those are not in yet). Only today when I went to return the glasses, I found out that the clerk had also ordered new frames because she had also damaged the frames. She did not mention this when I picked up the glasses on 7-Nov.. Well, it was not my fault that she damaged the frame and lenses when she adjusted them. The frames she recommended are not metal. and the lenses are too large. The glasses the gave me were damaged. I left the damaged glasses at the store. I want my money back.
The clerk refused to give me a number to call a manager. She told me she is not authorized to give a number to call to, and that Pearle Vision does not have a complaint number. I found this form searching the internet.

My glasses I never received
I was transferred from 15th & walnut all paperwork they aren't putting in the paperwork correct it's been 3 months or more I have cataracts in my left eye & filed a complaint with keystone insurance David vision says they're not doing it right my cataracts are worser I don't have any glasses now I'm going to get a lawyer to sue for neglect when I said I'm going to get a lawyer they laughed this is a neglect on there part
lenses
I bought a pair of Kate Spade eye glasses in 2019/2020 (approximate) I went Aug 4th 2022 for an eye exam. It was not shared that the computer imaging was not covered by my insurance ($40.00) (and that it is optional). I also needed to get my eyes dialated (100% covered by my insurance) since the imaging was not 100% clear. I would have preferred to solely do dialation if that is more accurate and 100% covered by my insurance.
In the end I decided to update a pair of glasses (the Kate Spade glasses) with new lenses. With my insurance I was charged $10.00 for plastic frames.
Two weeks later I was called to pick up my glasses but when I got them I could tell my lenses were not uipdated.
On 8/31/22 a message was left that they needed to discuss a situation with me regarding my lenses. I called back 9/1/22 and talked to a gentlemen who said they had no record that I purchased Kate Spade glasses from them in the past (their system said I bought Burberry glasses (which I did but exchanged for Kate Spade in the same visit).. and that these lenses need to be polycarbonate since they are rimless on the bottom. The initial order when I first purchased the glassed were plastic lenses (which cost me $10) with my insurance. Now I being told that is no longer an option and I need to pay another $40.00. I do not understand the disconnect. 1. I do not understand why the Kate Spade Glasses are not shown in the system? 2. Why were the glasses initially able to have plastic lenses? 3.Why was I called to pick up my glasses and given my old lenses as if they were updated? 4.Why should I have to pay another $40 for another type of lens (this was not told to me when I bought the frames, and again I had plastic lenses to begin with)? 5. Why would I agree to computerized imaging if dialation in more accurate and free under my insurance?

Wrong billing
Hello, my name is Theresa Goldsmith, I was scheduled for an eye exam on August 1, 2022. I was asked if I had insurance and I shared that I did, I have VSP through my employer. The lady said ok, yes we take that insurance. During my exam, I had a retinal exam and was told that my insurance may not cover it but they would bill and see. I told them I am a diabetic and they typically do cover it. After my meeting with the doctor, I looked for some frames and asked if they had any other options. The lady at the desk who I believe was the assistant manager, said they have more options at the Greene since its a bigger store. Then she told me that the Trotwood store did not have approval yet to take VSP yet and that if I wanted to use my insurance on frames I would need to go there. When I left, she gave me my prescription and that was it. No bill nothing, I just pulled up my Aetna account and see where you billed me for $354. My portion of the bill is $123. This is ridiculous. I am not going to let Aetna absorb this and I am not paying $123 for a service that your store lied about. My co-pay for my VSP insurance is $10. Please contact me at [protected]. I am going to contact Aetna on Monday and tell them about this. I would like to get this resolved ASAP. I have filed a fraud charge with Aetna.

new prescription issues

I visited one of your stores on May 13, 2022 because I was having some issues with my eye sight, reading and long distance, and thought I just needed new lenses. The exam showed that I had cataracts, but he wrote out a prescription for new glasses anyway.. When I picked up those new glasses on May 21, I could see no better than before! No improvement, no change. The manager even told me that I had cataracts. I was charged $493.78! It was all a bit confusing. I went to an ophthalmologist on June 2 and was scheduled for surgery for June 22 and July 5. I had cataracts removed. I feel that I was taken advantage of and cheated out of my money by the Pearle vision staff. I request a refund of the total amount that I was charged.
I thought I just needed new glasses! At Pearle he told me that I would need cataracts removed, but tweaked my prescription anyway. I am elderly and I live on a fixed income from social security. Chose PV as a big name in industry. had exam another vender but not open Sat to shop and discuss rx in old frames i wanted to use. so i used. $283.00 w/ my rx. told 3 wks out. what? only lab in TX. ok. call 3 wks later and said they are expediting as had to send to Tampa Fl which is only 20 minutes from St. Pete my location. told TX doesnt do transitions. glasses in finally and not good. said my frames to small for rx. had to buy new frames from them...just a few days, should be in. 3 more wks later still no glasses. one excuse after another. totally not using t hem ever again. bunch of BS. store assoc. are nice but so tired of wating now. old glasses so scratched its hard to see. tried to be patient but its wearing very thin now. like all businesses today, no one wants to work and hold a job. and with the technology we have today, 1 wk is all it should take. thats all it took before we had hi tech stuff to make our glasses before. such BS.

Customer Service has gone out the door. My mother has been waiting to hear back to complete her exam. Pearle Vision was expected to request records from another doctor. I call and the young lady pretty much brushed me off and said that they would call them. I checked with the other doctor and they expressed that they never contacted them.
I contacted Pearle again and asked the same question and received the same experience. I even gave the name of the person they should communicate with to obtain the records.
I am tried of calling and leaving messages. I guess we will go to another location or to another company. So do not go to the BridgeWater Falls location!
Desired outcome: Want the co pay returned if they can not finish the exam. Refund.

02/21/2022 according to your records, an unauthorized alleged procedure was billed to me and my insurance company. The account number is [protected].
1. I was not advised this procedure was taking place. Thus, the cost was not discussed.
2. The billing date was 04/20/22, months after my visit.
3. I feel this is medical gaslighting and my civil rights have been violated.
4. I am filing an appeal with my Medical Insurance.
5. I want this charge rescinded, I want you to never use my medical or vision insurance again.

Pearle Vision Customer Service
Called to schedule an appointment. The woman clearly didn't want to be at work, she was in a bad mood and rushed me off the phone. I was trying to ask her about insurance and copays. I was told $10 copay for the exam. At the appointment, door was locked to the store so I waited patiently for them to come open it. The customer that came in after me was pulling on the door and the representative was screaming hold on, I'm right here lady, acting like it was a inconvenience to her. Not sure why she didn't just unlock the door to begin with. It was 3pm. The Doctor dilated my eyes BEFORE he put new contacts in my eyes so I wasn't able to get a good reading. He said well, just wait till the dilation wears off. When I went to pay, it was $110, not $10 and they wouldn't accept my exam on us coupon from the Pearle Vision website. I just paid it and went on. So, I've called for 3 days now...left a message on their voicemail...and no one will answer me. The contacts DO NOT WORK correctly. They need to be adjusted but I can't get a human to answer me. I tried to go in person on my lunch break but they were closed with a be back later sign on the door. This is so unprofessional guys. I chose Pearle Vision for quality...and this is what you allow? Not ok.
Desired outcome: I want a refund for the exam so I can go to a different Doctor and get a prescription that works.
Versace glasses
Purchased from Pearle Vision Huntsville Ontario. Dec 2019. However have had ongoing issues since purchasing.
Logo for glasses has fallen off both original pair and replacement pair. Didn’t even have original color frame I bought for first replacement.
Replacement ordered in may was mailed, stolen from mail courier, got replacement provided finally in December 2021. Only had four months. Recurrence of same issue. Replaced with same model no choice. To avoid another broken pair.
Broken again same spot same issue.
Paid 721.00 something for glasses
Nothing but problems since start. Poor customer service. Was yelled at by person at store first time went to get them replaced.
Offered only 50% off new pair second time around.
Not enough, given both pairs breaking not happy at all with service or resolution. I want full refund. To get a new pair of my choosing.

i had regular eye exam appointment with co-pay of $10. checked box that i did NOT want eye photographs.
was charged anyway and told that it is required now and that i would have to pay for total exam if it wasn't done.
i called my insurance company later and they said photographs have not and still is not required for regular exams and that i was being misled.
i tried calling back to the office but got no reply.

I doubt I will be returning to pearle vision for myself and daughter, and will spread this news high priority. I dont like to be treated like i dont matter.

My elderly father got his eyeglasses from Pearl Vision in Boston last month. Due to COVID-19, we moved him down to our house in NC. His glasses are scratched and he called to get a copy of his prescription from them so I can get him a couple of spare pairs of glasses from the VA nearby. He was told that they can't provide him a copy of his prescription and that he would have to come back to Boston, Mass and pay for another exam or he could order more glasses from them... This is an obvious money grab aimed at an old Vietnam vet... Either travel 800 miles in the middle of a pandemic or pay us more money and we can help! Unsat!

Transition lens and bifocal for 2nd pair
I purchased 2 pair of glasses a week and a half ago. She only gave me the price for the expensive lenses she never compared the price of the progressive lens to the other lens they sell. I never had any problems out of the cheaper lens. The progressive is supposevto be a better anti glare lens. One to wear as glasses and one as shades. The transition lens are not dark and barely transitioning. I can see me eyes thru them when looking at them from the other side via phone. I ask other people about the look and they say I can see your eyes and something is not right with them.. When I clean them they have a film on them. I have had transition lens all of my adult life and never had a problem with them ever. I ordered the shades without the bifocal but I want them with the bifocal now. I asked the girl about that when I got them back and she said I would have to get new lense and it would be much more money. I don't see why they can't swap them out and charge the difference for the lense. I have insurance to cover it and I don't see it being much more expensive. I would like the transition lense to do what they are suppose to do turn dark and work like they should. If I can't get it done correct then I would like to return them. I paid for them in full when I ordered them. I am so disappointed.
