Petronas review: cheating: fake job offer from email address [protected]@petronascompanymy.com 44

Beware of cheating. I have received a fake employment offer from the email address [protected]@petronascompanymy.com

Based on my research, it is found out that on-line communication on recruitment from PETRONAS, would be sent by PETRONAS' officials using only the following email domains:
• discoverpetronas.com
• petronas.com.my

The following raised suspicion (red flags)

1) The offer was made without any screening (test or interview). There was only a questionnaire that I filled up and sent to them.
2) The offer was simply too good to be true (very high salary and out of the world benefits)
3) They offered me a salary that was much more than what I asked
4) They asked me to make arrangements to pay $895 upfront
5) Even though land line numbers are listed in the company website, cell phone numbers are used in the email and offer letter.

Please be aware that these people will change the name of the persons, email ids, company name, and cell phone numbers to come up with such scams in the future.
If you search the internet using the name " Dr. Arif Bin Mahmood (GM)" you will see such scams in the name of CALTEX OIL COMPANY,
PUBLIC BANK OF MALAYSIA etc.

Here is what you can do if you are suspicious:

Most of the companies will have a web site and their web sites will have a "Contact us" link. Request the company to confirm the authenticity of the offer letter by providing them details. Most companies will respond within 24 hours because it is in their best interest also to keep their reputation.
