I went straight to the BBB with my complaint, but figured I would also put it up everywhere else .
I started to place my first order through the Postmates' app. I selected my food and was about to continue on to confirming and placing my order. I had to add my form of payment. I put this information in and then was notified that a charge of $79.10 had been charged to my account.
WHAT?!
Then a small green disclaimer pops up on the Postmates' app stating a 'temporary authorization' will be placed. The actual charge for my order will be made within 24 hrs. and the temporary authorization amount will be returned within 3 business days.
There was no warning, no disclaimer, no notice prior to Postmates charging this temporary authorization.
I immediately ceased to proceed with the actual ordering of my food. However, the $79.10 will not be returned to me.
How can a business take $80 from me without my authorization. I had not received a service from them yet.
I tried to contact customer service to resolve this issue. IMPOSSIBLE. They clearly do not care about their customers at all.
So I got no dinner and now have $80 less in my account for the next 4 days.
Postmates is TERRIBLE. I will never use their service.

Hello, My name is Stephanie I ordered 2 slices of cheesecake from the cheesecake factory to be derived to the US Grant and luxury collection hotels at 326 Broadway in San Diego. When we get any delivery service brought to the hotel the valet will send them to the front desk. I contacted valet to see if anyone from any food delivery place has stopped by and they told me no. The payment went through and I have tried to contact both the driver and the company them selves and still no answer. lousy delivery service and charged $15 for failed delivery
The driver with my delivery order was obviously lost, I watched the driver on my iPhone driving basically in circles. I received 3 text messages indicating (1) 10:05pm my order was received, (2) at 10:33 pm that my driver was arriving now, and (3) at 10:36 pm that my driver is currently at my address. About 2 minutes after that text message all of a sudden a pop-up from post-mates asked me how much I want to tip the driver; I posted that my delivery never arrived. I then received a message that I would be charged $15 for not being home for the delivery.
I was standing at my patio slider the whole time, waiting and watching for the driver, the driver was a no show. I had even texted back to the third text message an "ok" which obviously indicates that I was waiting.
I contacted customer service and received a standard brush off email.
Never again!
Charged for an order never given to the restaurant
We ordered a meal from BJ's in West Palm Beach, Florida. We waited for an hour watching our estimated arrival time change every few minutes and extend out. We finally called the restaurant planning to just pick it up so we could eat only to find out that the driver did not physically enter the store to place the order as required. Since the order never made it to the restaurant and per Postmates, we should have not paid BUT of course, they charged us for an order never received. No phone number, no response to email or in-app requests. Thiefs!

On 10/11/2018 I was overcharged by Postmates. They originally showed a credit but it dropped off and never posted to my account. I have emailed them multiple times with no response. They charged my credit card twice for same order. Terrible customer service, no phone number to contact a person. Only an email option, this should be a red flag to any consumer.
Postmates charges twice and does not refund or respond to emails.

I placed an food delivery order through Postmates from Chipotle. I also added a $5 tip to the order(big mistake). Food does not arrive so I send a complaint through the application two hours after placing the order. Postmates replies (via email...you cannot call them!) and they tell me that there is no record of the order that I placed. I immediately go to my credit card online statement and I see a $5 charge for the tip that I added to the order. I email them again and send them screen shot of the charge and I request a refund of the $5 tip. I get a reply that they cannot find the order and that tips cannot be refunded. So let me understand I say...you cannot find the order yet you billed me $5 for a tip that I added to an order! this is absurd...its a scam...and I will never use that app again.

I have a food trailer. I am not a merchant for Postmates but for months have been receiving DAILY robo calls to my home, that my tablet is offline and cannot take orders. They provide no assistance in resolving this issue. Apparently the only way to change anything is to log in to their site but that is impossible if not a participant. They do not publish a phone number to contact.

I've experienced several issues with Postmates from failure to deliver to missing items. While one or two missing items can happen failing to miss a component to every item on the order takes it to a whole nother level. My recent order had a component missing from each item or the item was missing altogether. Rather than reimbursing me for the missing items Postmates offered to reimburse me a small fraction of them and did not even offer to refund me either the service charge or the delivery fee. I understand missing one item and I have dealt with it a few times but missing something from every item on an order is just pathetic. I would have been better off going out and getting it myself or seeking of of the many other vendors offering the SAME service.
Not only are others offering the same service they don't charge as much of a delivery fee as Postmates does. I do not recommend them if you want a hassle free experience.

I’m having a very similar issue! The app won’t accept my bank account information so I can receive my direct deposit, and I have contacted postmates through the only method they offer SEVERAL times with no response. It’s now been around two weeks and I’m not getting paid because they won’t help me. Very frustrating. Have you received any response yet on your issue?

Hey so... we're both super hungry thinking our Indian food is gonna show up... apparently so does the restaurant making our food... but you guys being the trash you are cancel our order, allowing the restaurant to make it, wasting all that food, and just fail to pick it up and deliver it. You guys are trash, who only care about making a buck, no concern for local people or local customers. I will make it my personal mission to make sure everyone's aware of that. Best of luck. my order never arrived. they claim I cancelled and will not give me a refund
I placed an order with Postmates this past Saturday. The driver sent me a text saying, Almost there. I watched the little car on the app drive to the restaurants location and then I watched as the drove toward my home. I noticed the little car stop. I waited and waited, but no food. I sent a text back to them asking where they were. No replay, so I called the number and no one answered. and the food never arrived. I ended up ordering from Eat24. The next day I noticed the Postmates had charged me. I sent a message to Postmates and was told that I canceled the order and they will not refund my money, because I canceled too late. I replied back saying that I never canceled and the food never showed up, but they still refuse to refund my money. I sent another email and no one has responded. I want my money and now I want an apology. I have never experience such poor customer service.

How is there no way to reach anyone when your order is received and it's wrong. There is no recourse for correcting the order and obviously there is no one verifying the order is correct at time of pick up prior to delivery. I guess I should cancel the charge on my card as I did not receive what I ordered.
Not very happy and will not use this service again. Up to 48 hours to be contacted for an issue with my food order makes no sense whatsoever.
I certainly wouldn't have to wait 48 hours if I got the wrong order in the restaurant or if I picked up the wrong order. It would be handled right away as it should be.
My order was for Caribbean jerk wings not hot and for some reason you people entered in the order as Caribbean jerk and hot. Why?
wrong order and no resolution from postmates
You should be able to give 0 stars. It seems that this company is more frequently having issues due to incorrect menus listed on their site. Most recently I had ordered 6 meals from a restaurant and only 2 orders came, 3 were missing completely and 1 was incorrect. While I have the original order on my app Postmates refuses to fix the issue and only issue a partial refund. Driver had originally stated he was confused on how to place the order, yet never tried to call me to clarify (even though it was a straight forward order). After receiving the items I immediately told driver the order was completely wrong and missing items. Driver couldn't do anything and told me I had to go through the app. It has been 2 days of going back and forth with Postmates through email as they do not give you a phone number, and will only issue a partial refund making me still pay for items I did not receive. Will not be using this service again. Terrible customer service on all ends.
overcharged
My wife and I ordered from a pizza place in Tucson, Arizona through Postmates, as Postmates was the only delivery service providing delivery from that particular pizzeria. The order we placed was $67 before fees from Postmates. I should have cancelled the order when Postmates claimed fees and taxes, etc., would add an extra $30 to the order, but I went ahead with the order. At that time, the Postmates site claimed there might be additional charges. Sure enough, I checked a few days later and found out that Postmates charged me another $20 for a grand total of $117! The whole thing should not have been more than $75 at the highest. Stay away from Postmates, and hope and pray Doordash, which provides excellent service and doesn't overcharge on fees, don't merge, as is currently rumored in the business world.

There's a dilevry guy come to placed an order of 4 steak burgers at the old home stead and we placed the order and after he left we found out that he didn't have enough money in his account which we Owen him now 17dollars .the card finished this last numbers 9425 .LZEKBAP3JC postmate . undelivered order
I placed an order through postmates on may 17th 2018. I received a a text that said postmates delivery dude was here, so I looked for them and saw no one... No call, no car no person nothing!
I contact postmates to tell them my order wasn't delivered and they said they were so sorry however they basically sided with the driver. I'm out my money now because they refused to refund it. I will never ever use postmates again. Terrible customer service.

We ordered a meal from BJ's in West Palm Beach, Florida on 10/17. We waited for an hour watching our estimated arrival time change every few minutes and extend out. We finally called the restaurant planning to just pick it up so we could eat only to find out that the driver did not physically enter the store to place the order as required. Since the order never made it to the restaurant and per Postmates, we should have not paid BUT of course, they charged us for an order never received. No phone number, no response to email or in-app requests. Thiefs!
double order due to website error
I tried to order postmates last night, and when I clicked order, I kept getting messages that the order could not be placed. After getting this message three times, I attempted to place the order again, with it going through this time, with a screen popping up telling me the order was successfully placed. It was only when I checked my email a few minutes later that I noticed that the first order had actually gone through! I then tried to cancel the second order (about 8 minutes after it was placed), and ended up having to pay 35 of the 40 dollars the order cost, plus and additional 4 dollar cancellation fee. This is ABSURD. It was a problem with their own website, and when I contacted customer service, they just doubled down about it being their policy when the order was in the "preparing stage" without acknowledging the fact that the order was doubly placed due to an error with their own website. I'd really like my money back, as it's ridiculous to pay $40 for food that I didn't even get. I'll certainly never be using postmates again if they can't make this right.
I trust that Postmates.com will make this right and come up with a resolution that is fair.
delivery (walked to my home, 53 minutes away)
I placed my order yesterday at 6:33 p. m. My food was ready to go at 6:50pm. Estimated delivery arrival was 7:12pm. The time continuously kept getting pushed back, all the way to 7:38pm then 7:48pm is when the person arrived. This person walked for 53 minutes to deliver food! That practice is unnacceptable and needs to be looked into. If someone lives within a 5 block radius of restaurant, makes sense. But to allow someone to walk for 53 minutes with food, in a regular bag (not a warm bag) is completely rude. I spend $40.30 for cold food which I had to microwave! I contact support and they give me their normal templated talk-offs regarding their estimated delivery time, attempted to do nothing about my issue, credit me $3.00 measly dollars! I want a full refund. I will continue to file until this issue is resolved and your company changes those business practices. Unbelievable. I will never use your service again! And will make sure to tell everyone to not use Postmates ever again!
failed food delivery
I ordered thru postmates from George's Greek Cafe in Long Beach, Ca. Five minutes before the delivery, the message was received and that he was on his way. Then, another message that he arrived. Then I received a call that I have to pick up the food. I asked him where he was and he was in another part of town.. he was in the West Long Beach area and I was in East Long Beach. He said that he was delivering using a bike and that where I am was too far for him. He said he will let them know (Them?) and that they might arrange for the delivery. Not delivered. I had been contacting postmates but the reply was "the delivery had been done and that I will be charged for the whole amount." I kept on emailing but will not reply anymore. So, I filed another complaint thru another site and the reply now was, there was nothing they can do because my address was in Bellflower and not Long Beach. And they cannot do anything further. I am in Long Beach and when I called Georges Cafe, the girl I talked too said that that delivery guy was not reliable and he looked intoxicated and that they will not hire him themselves to work in their facility.
So, it seems that postmates will just believe the delivery EVEN IF THEY LIE and let the customers suffer. Mind you, I am a senior citizen and on fixed income and every little bit counts. I just tried postmates because my granddaughter complimented them for good service in San Francisco. But definitely not in LONG BEACH.
failure to deliver
I placed an order and followed the status from the time the driver picked up to when it said it was delivered. It was never delivered and i called to complain about it and the customer service rep said she couldn't refund me my money because the driver posted it was delivered. I asked if the driver would take it back to the restaurant and she said they don't and that most likely she left it outside somewhere. I wouldn't complain if this was a $10 order, but this was a total of $50 for an order i never received. This was the first and last time i will ever order from them. I will warn my family and friends not to order from this delivery company again!
