harassment, suspension hours cut
I have worked at Publix in Decatur Al for almost a year. I have been written up 14 times and suspended twice for a week with no pay. I went from part time to full time to part time and I now get 10 hours a week until the store manager says I have improved. When I was hired I informed them of my disability... major depression and anxiety. I am a 55 year old widow who lost a daughter to sucide. I have been under a doctor's care for decades for depression and anxiety. It is Christmas and the store manager has made sure I have practically no income. Anybody's welcome to read these write-ups and reasons for suspension. I work at store 1609 in Decatur, Al. On Point Mallard Parkway. I do not know what to do... I hope the manager taped the times he has called me into his office for write-ups etc. Because he has said some pretty horrible, embarrassing, mean things to me. I know I have anxiety and get jumpy, exhausted... mentally and physically and emotionally. I have no other means of support and my store manager just took that away... not for any customer complaint.. not for any safety issue. For what appears to be second hand gossip.. accidentally bumping the dept. Manager with a cart.. complaining because we weren't allowed to use the dishwasher. Everybody has done these things and alot more than me. Please help me. Mindy Birdwell
customer service
I went food shopping yesterday at the Clermont Publix (usually I do not visit this location). I was surprised when upon returning the shopping cart I was approached by a Publix employee wearing a light blue shirt (not sure if this means he was a manager). He came towards me and said he would take care of the cart. I held the shopping cart and moved it in a position where he could push the other carts into it (making it easier for him to do his job).
He proceeded to yell out: "Git, Git"... "We don't want you here anymore"; "Get out of here".
Now I am sure that Publix employees are not trained to speak to their loyal customers this way. I was in shock after being insulted and disrespected this way; but using all of my patience I just walked away. I would like this person found and retrained since I believe he needs to be mentored in order to know how to speak to customers respectfully and also to make sure he is not being racist towards minorities.
thanks
This is very sad. Racist towards minority is not tolerable. We raised our voice against it. http://odhikar.news

pay
I have been working for publix for 4 and a half years. I just received a message stating that they are raising the starting pay again this deember which is fine . However if they do what they did the past 2 time and not give their current employees a raise I will call corporate. Its not fair for a new employee to start making what I'm making and I've been there 4 to 5 years . Its like all the hard work I've done mean nothing.
false employment security
After working there for almost three years and not being properly aware of the substance abuse policy, I was fired for consuming one serving of wine after a manager was informed about it. Despite it being months ago and my managers being well informed that I was a few months pregnant, I was terminated with no warning nor counseling. I was asked to write a statement regarding my side and HR decided my fate that the future of my child and all the times I achieved role model status and bent over backwards for the company still made me expendable.
Forgot to mention I was on my one hour break! I worked with people that would drink on the clock, smoke weed, and even do coke in the parking lots and I was still fired for misconduct!
pharmacy at beckett lake plaza in clearwater fl store #4548
We went to the above pharmacy for our flu shots today. We had the paperwork filled out and the pharmacist said we would have to wait 20 minutes as he had "things to do" even though there was no one else waiting there. So we shopped and came back and proceeded to wait another 20 minutes while he waited on other customers. We finally left after he said we would still have to wait. We complained to the store manager, Brian, who could not help us either. The pharmacist's name is ANH NGUGEN and I considered him to be extremely rude and it was like he was deliberately making us wait. I intend to move my prescriptions from the pharmacy and never step foot in there again. It is not worth the $10 gift card to be treated like this. This happened on Oct 13, 2018. I would like to see this Mr. Ngugen disciplined for his rudeness to a customer.
produce
I am a religious Publix shopper as my husband and I are also a former employees. The Snow Hill Publix in Ooltewah TN has really went down hill so much that I drive out of my way to go to a different one.
Their produce manager Aaron is the biggest jerk I have ever met. I filed a complaint on him a couple months ago for pretty much telling me that he didn't have the time to help me when I called the store about something. He also doesn't seem to know how to manage his staff that work the floor. Staff, younger staff, always on their cell phones or standing around talking to each other or what looks to be their girlfriends. On the now rare occasions that I do stop there I am NEVER greeted in that department and to make matters worse their produce looks like crap. Wilted greens, bruised apples and onions. The local Aldi has better looking produce.
When I filed a complaint the store manager Jackie emailed me and gave me some half assed apology and said she would speak with Aaron about what I had said in my complaint. She didn't offer anything more even after I told her that I was taking my business elsewhere. She doesn't care just like this jerk Aaron who manages the produce department doesn't care. So maybe someone important to the company will read these complaints and see how they have gone by the wayside and start doing something. Because as a former employee of Publix working in the customer service area as a cashier and customer service desk I know that this is NOT what Publix stands for.
YOUR STORE SUCKS as do most of the managers there. Shame on Jackie the store manager, Jeremy the assistant store manager and Aaron the produce manager.
Most retail problems will be solved if customers care more about how employees are treated than wanting things cheap. I refused to do business with WalMart, Meijers, or Amazon just because I knew people who worked there were treated very badly, not just from my observation, but people I met who quit because of it. The price is insignificant! I would rather pay more if management was really polite. Most mangers I saw would be fired if I owned that place. Human treatment is far more important than money! ("Love of money is the root of all evil." I Timothy 6:10)
I am complaining about a recent experience in the publix store located on atlantic blvd in pompano beach, fl.
Last night I went to return an item that my fiance had purchased. I'm an advent customer at Publix and I'm in this particular store everyday. Upon trying to return my item I was faced with immediate discrimination by the store manager who goes by the name of Danny. I believe because there are a lot of homeless people in the neighborhood he just stereotyped me and basically refused to return my item for me. he broke protocol against storeo policies and had a discriminatory remark towards me and told me that it was his discretion if he would decide to take my food back that's not Publix store policy. I have a copy of the store policies and I shouldn't have to go through what I went through dealing with this manager. I think he should be reprimanded I mean some legal actions may be taken because I was totally discriminated upon and I have witnesses I have receipts of where I purchased over $100 worth of food earlier that day so I'm a paying customer and store policy says that they will return without any problems without any hype without any scenes and that's what I was faced with when trying to return an item that came from that particular store and all of it is on camera. I feel there's no place in the workforce for discrimination for racism for aggression for blatant and outright just rudeness. I am highly upset I'm highly disappointed in Publix I'm highly and upset about the fact that they would even consider hiring someone of that magnitude and I think that he should at least, at the least be fired. but I am sure just like any other case here in United States of America were a person of color discriminated upon no action is going to be taken this person's going to continue to do this until something significant is done. this happened last night 9 12 2018 around about 8: 30 at the Publix on Atlantic Avenue in Pompano Beach Florida the manager's name is Danny.
publix - produce
The last two batch's of Gala apples purchased at the store looked like an apple, carried the usual price for an apple and was nicely displayed but it had no taste. This is the apple season not the season for stored or gassed fruit. Don't the buyers taste before bid? Of all your store departments produce is most likely to lay out bruised, tasteless or old product.
deli
The morning deli associate "Cody" at Riverside Landings store in Oviedo-FL was not friendly serving me seems having attitude I recognized that as soon as he noticed that I am not American " which I am now" and having accent placing my order,
He provided me dry service I felt like I am not welcomed in the store and make me feel that I don't want to come back to the store I visited daily on my way to work to shop.
Very unpleasent experience.
Last Sunday I on-line ordered 3 deli sandwiches for my friends for a remote lunch on Monday.
I had a tight schedule, but Publix Deli in Winston Park, Coconut Creek, FL claimed I could pick-up at 7:30AM.
No sandwiches were ready. No info regarding a problem. The clerk said, disinterestedly, "our system was down".
No deli worker made any effort to help me.
I'll never order from Publix Deli again.
The almond tarragon chicken salad is way to salty. I used to buy this several years ago in Charleston, sc and it was perfect. Now the salt is overwhelmingly to the point that I can’t enjoy the almond tarragon chicken salad. Please take some of the salt out of this product.
food rotten, fish rotten, hormell meals rotten continuously
continuously recieving rotten food, fish, hormell meals, wattermellon, I pay alot of money to shop at publix. As a single father I dont have time to keep bringing rotten food back. I feel like Im being ripped off, because of the frequency of the rotten food. ive been shopping at Publix for years and am willing to pay the prices that they charge but all to often am I receiving rotten food and to take it back is so time consuming that it almost adds insult to injury.
continuously buyin rotten fish an rotten hormels meal rotten watermelon rotten strawberries
cookie cake
The cookie was not decorated very well for the size of the cookie. It didn't have enough icing for the size of the cake and it didn't look like anyone took much care in decorating it.
When I called to ask if they could add anything to it they said they were unable to do anything once the cake has left the store.
I'm very disappointed in the service. We have been ordering cookie cakes from Publix for a very long time and have recommended the cookies to our friends.
The last couple of times the people taking our order have been less than friendly and not very accommodating.
In fact I actually ended up ordering the cookie from The Great American Cookie Company the last time bc I didn't quite meet the 24 hour notification and was told they would not be able to do it.
That cookie ended up being much better decorated but we still like Publix so I was hoping to have better luck this time. Needless to say, I'm disappointed.
I'm sending pictures to show a comparison between the 2 cookies I was describing.
horrid management trend
If you live in the Gallatin, TN area, please, do yourself a favor and stay far away from the Publix deli. The manager of it is the spawn of Satan, not to mention incredibly incompetent. I'm noticing a trend in the people now managing departments. There are obviously some who do their jobs well, but there are more and more who obviously were picked out of favoritism or desperation. They are an embarrassment. Publix obviously doesn't have the sense to be embarrassed, these idiots still work there. Way to promote mediocrity. I'm done with Publix. Walmart offers the same stupid people for cheaper. Kroger gives gas points. Publix needs a new District Manager in this area. His "method" obviously isn't working.
I'm so tired of being in the stores and seeing managers who are jokes. The store in Gallatin, TN currently has a deli manager who must be kin to Satan. What idiot promoted her?! Her accociates know more and can answer questions better than she can. She's awful. I live in Hermitage, but shop in Gallatin, Hendersonville, and Nashville stores. There's a recurring theme I'm seeing. Promoting people that can't hack. I think the District Manager must be playing favorites. Nobody with a mind for growth and prosperity promotes these idiots. I'm done with Publix.
every time I go publix don't have the product
I have made complaint many times about not having green tea Arizona I go to purchase two or three times a month. The Publix on Old Cutler Miami Florida are always out . The manager and general manager have told me that they were increasing the order but still the samething.
I have pictures of the empty shelf. I have to go to another store far away from me. Not the one in my neighborhood because they never have it.
employee was rude
My lunch break is 30 minutes so I ran to Publix next door to grab some chicken tenders. When I approached the counter the employee stood there and wouldn't acknowledge I was there so I asked her how much the tenders were and she said nothing but how many do you want. I wanted to know how much one was to check my cash. So I just left the counter and purchased some crackers. I then asked for the manager and the lady said she was the manager and wanted to know what the problem was, as I told her another lady showed up and then was told she was the manager...she held her finger up and said wait. I walked out of the store when she came and followed me I told her what happen but she didn't seem concerned either...DONE WITH PUBLIX...
publix size 5 bogo rain check
I have always loved shopping at Publix and until this week, haven't ever had a problem. It all began with Publix diapers, BOGO offer in later part of June. I shop at the Old Cutler Publix in Miami 33189, as well as the one on SW 184 Street, Perrine 33157. Neither had the diapers in size 5, no matter how many times I went back that week. Although annoying, I accepted the raincheck and went on my way. Last week, I decided to try again to get the diapers, going several times to each store, to no avail. Finally at the one on Old Cutler, Miami, FL 33189, I found 4 packs of the size 5 I needed, so I went to the cashier and showed her my raincheck, but that would only use 2 of the deals I had for the BOGO and would still leave me with 2 deals. She said ok, and charged me for the diapers. I asked her, what about my raincheck for the 2 deals I still need? The cashier went to customer service and I followed. The lady at customer service said it isn't Publix's policy to reissue a raincheck, even if there are items remaining I could use. I said please call a manager, which she did. The manager told her the same thing and suggested I go to another Publix. I said, I have repeatedly gone back and forth to both Publix, but you never have size 5 Publix diapers in stock, sufficient for me to use the raincheck I have! I was so upset. I left the store, extremely disappointed with both Publix and the Managers who represent this particular store. If Publix can not keep in stock and/or order the amount required to satisfy their customers, then they have a problem. Also, in not honoring their own rainchecks is extremely frustrating.
bad customer service "all around"!
Shopping at this Publix in North Port for the last 10yrs and never has service been this horrible. 7:30 pm show up to get dinner and a few items. Deli special "chicken sub". Not available. Even though pre made they say "we're out". Sushi "out". Rotisserie chicken response "we're out". Nothing less than this response. Checkout line Manager "Glen". Ask if we...

I bought this product to give it a try and because it was in sale.
I was disappointed to find out that it has a corn starch as one of its ingredients, and that one with coconut blended flavor has added something called by publix coconut flavor preparation. Does this sound authentic?
So I called publix to find out why these 2 ingredients that are fake are included in their "authentic" product. I can say that someone who put this long name together dis not look up the definition for "authentic".
I was also hoping to get an "authentic" or at least professional explanation from publix. I received a voicemail from what I found out later their general manager of their dairy plant in lakeland, fl.
He made sure that he spoke so fast that I wouldn't be able to get his extention to call back.
Publix's customer service explained to me that the corn starch ingredient is not in the yougurt but in its fruit component. So that makes the yougurt still authentic. Are you kidding me? Wheather you add that corn starch to the yougurt or its fruit flavoring it affects the whole product and its authenticity. This explanation coming from publix really insults my intelligence, and the complained handling by their general manager mr. Greg rudolph was insulting as well. Maybe get a secretary next time to live a message for you mr. Rudolph? Just a suggestion. And please stop calling any product authentic when adding a corn starch to it in any form or shape.
spring water
Publix brand spring water smells bad and taste like chemicals. It leaves a tingling sensation on your tounge. I buy it all the time. This is the first time this has happened. My whole family has noticed this. I'm afraid someone is going to get sick from it. It's so bad I find it hard to believe this water is meant to taste the way it does. There has to be something wrong!
We experienced the same thing. We purchased it from Publix in Mary Esther Florida. It has a horrible taste. We buy this water often and it is definitely not right. Hope it isn’t going to make folks sick.
spoiled produce and refrigerated food
Publix Supermarket 4950 Belle Terre Pkwy Palm Coast 32137
Produce & Refrigerated foods
Refer to the attached pictures of spoiled food and checkout receipt, said items were purchased on June 18, 2018, that is 7 days ago. As indicated by the photo showing ambient temperature on refrigerator of 0 for freezer and 37 for refrigerator, squash was stored in refrigerator and ravioli was stored in freezer.
As the pictures clearly depict the mold on ravioli must have been present when purchased as mold will not grow in a 0-degree environment, as for the squash, it had to be rotting from the inside when purchased 7 days earlier, and only the refrigeration saved the exterior of the vegetable from spoiling.
To offer this poor-quality level of food to its customers is disgraceful particularly at the prices being charged. I am particularly concerned about the ravioli, had someone bought this product who was not as astute due to age or failing eyesight and had eaten this! What would have been the implications of having consumed spoiled, mold laden food, could it have caused sickness or worse.
"PUBLIX" is the largest grocery provider in the State of Florida and they consistently sell foods that are on the verge of going bad. In addition to this one experience listed below, I have also purchased apples that when cut open on the same day as purchase where rotten from the inside, I have purchased tomato that spoils at room temperature (77 degrees) in two to three days. These experiences are not that of fresh foods. I think that it is disgraceful for a food supplier the size of Publix to be selling this poor-quality food. I think it is high time the State of Florida Department of Health look into the practices of Publix, storage, handling, date coding, disposal of food stuffs, particularly refrigerated or produce items this is disgusting, and it needs to be addressed by some state agency. It is clearly obvious Publix supermarkets are incapable of policing their own
Follow Up: today is 8/16/18... To date not a single word from Publix, after having posted this on several sites including Publix own facebook page. Says a lot doesn't it ! Sure would like to see some competition move here and give Publix a run for their money.
The counter clerk gave me a store credit for the value of product! However clerk at counter had no interest in addressing the issue of spoiled food, just gave me the store credit and sent me packing. Frankly, I think the drones working at the registers do not comprehend the seriousness of selling spoiled or mold laden food. Most if not all are children under the age of 20, and mommy cooks, cleans, and feeds, these little snowflakes, so they have no ability to distinguish fresh food from spoiled. Had mommy served up for dinner what I brought back I am sure they would have taken interest, however in this instance all they wanted is to move on to next customer. Sad, very very sad, not only do I have to deal with spoiled food, I have to deal with the "drones" at the register. Seriously, I don't know which is worse.
