Furnace By-Out
On July 29, 2022 First Canadian Title Company Limited who are the service providers for HomeEquity Bank, disbursed funds in the amount of $ 3, 872.15 to a number company 2035881Ontario Inc. These funds were to by-out my furnace equipment and to remove the lean on my mortgage.
On September 26, 2022 I received an invoice from Reliance Home Comfort for the above amount. I called Reliance Home Comfort and spoke to two people in the billing department. They both informed me that these funds have not been received and that they were not familiar with the numbered company 2035881 Ontario Inc. A corporate review of this numbered company has confirmed the affiliation with Reliance Home Comfort. So why are the billing department denying knowledge of this company?
As far as I am concerned this amount has been paid as of July 29, 2022 and I am not submitting any further money to Reliance Home Comfort. HomeEquity Bank have confirmed that these funds were disbursed. I am awaiting further information, but this is clearly an administrative between Reliance and 2035881 Ontario Inc. that needs to be resolved today.
Desired outcome: To reverse the invoice amount and confirm that it has been resolved.
AC and water softener rental
Can you explain why Enbridge is still charging me for A/C a water softener?
Air condition - Contract Account [protected]/ Buyout $1290.46( including tax)
Chlorine Filter - Contract Account [protected]/ Buyout $3637.47( including tax)
I have paid in full on August 26/2022.
air handling unit / customer service
I bought this unit 4 years ago from Reliance at a cost of $10.000 and this has never worked right since the day it was installed by contractors first of the unit would cut out, the contractor's replaced the flow switch not once but twice and this was not the problem a tech called Jason worked for 6 hours on the unit and sorted out the problem. But for the last 4 years it's been contractor after contractor as Reliance techs don't do attics. To the extent that last year after phone call after phone call reliance sent out several techs an engineer, they said that the air handler was for a 1500sf house my house is 3800sf so the unit ran all the time and only drop the temperature one degree over a 10 hour period they installed two Mitsubishi heads on the main floor and split the system said that the air handler would cool the upper part of the house. Well, this has not happened the air handler runs all the time, and at this stage I just want this unit removed and refund me my money as this unit just doesn't do what I was total it would do cool the house.
On August 15th, 2022, I called reliance for service on the air handling unit it stopped working Reliance tech showed up on the 16th and said Reliance THECHS don't get into attics (so Reliance sells you a unit but can't service it)
SO, a contractor was called he showed up on the 17th got in the attic and checked out the unit said the blower motor was burned out and a new one would be shipped out in a few days. Will 6 weeks later and several phone calls made by me to reliance and guess what nothing not even a phone call to say what the statues is this is the worse customer service i have ever experience. there have been so many contractors in and out of the house and it still doesn't not run right. when i call the call center for updates on the parts they want to send out and other contractor were is the communication here ?
In closing this air handler unit has cost Reliance a fortune in contractors and me a lot of heartache and stress just do the right thing for all parties and remove the unit and refund me the money and let us move on from this.
Desired outcome: if you can't service the unit and can't get parts to maintain it removed it and fully refund for me this is the best solution for all parties.what has the cost been on this nightmare
A/C
Sales person came in the night fill out the form for only air condition replace for rent. She only had ipad and I cant read anything I signed.
Now I found out she did add two more items which I did not know about it.
She asked me to sign again and again I asked her why two times and she said its for air condition rental.
I only want to pay A/C only please remove other items. I called few time and someone said other department will call me but no one called.
Sales person fooled me, She said she can install the a/c tomorrow and no need to worry only pay less than $50 for month, I will cancel other maintenance fee as well.
I called Reliance and complained but no one take any action.
Desired outcome: I want all three units removed and leave me alone. I don't want to deal with Reliance. Cancel all my documents or contracts.
Air humidifier assumption
It’s been 2+ months and the new owners still have not assumed the humidifier in my previous home. Both of our lawyer have been engaging the generic lawyers. Reliancehomecomfort. Ca email and the portals and I have not had any traction. I am still being billed and to top that off reliance customer service is denying any credits past month 1 and hanging up on my multiple times.
Please help!
Desired outcome: Legal department to finalize assumption of humidifier
Water Heater Rental
I too, just moved into my home and been automatically charged by Reliance an account set up fee for existing equipment already in this house. 35.00 . Also being charged monthly when it's suppose to be a quarterly rental. Unfair and ridiculous high priced over 46 dollars for ONLY 21 days billing period the 1st bill , here! 👎 My bill - $91.62 un-real.
Desired outcome: "Please waive set up fee" "Charge quarterly rental not monthly.
Furnace service
Booked service one week in advance 8 to 12 (morning time) - Sept-2-2022.
Friday: no sign of tech. A e-mail shows up saying the tech can not get hold of me. Finally the tech shows up around 2pm. Determines new fan motor needed. Orders it and have it delivered to my house at 5pm. The tech indicated that Reliance will send tech to install same day.
Alia the customer service books some one to come before 8pm
The technician calls at 7.03pm saying he will be here in 15 minutes (caller id is displayed)
At 7.26pm I get the e-mail message "no one was at my house". My door was wide open and waiting for tech to come.
This blatant disregard for the customer tells me that RELIANCE is NOT a reliable company. What other conclusion one can draw?
Contacted Nikita at Reliance customer service at 7.43p
She has indicated that tomorrow at 8am some one will be there as their first call (hopefully it is not a lie).
Alia has signed me up for "upgraded service"! Hopefully, I don't have to pay for it. I am really shocked by their disregard for customer's time.
Is there any good reason why I should not pursue the BBB and Ministry of consumer - enlisting the actions of this company as stated?
As I said before, I booked today's call a week in advance. There is no excuse for this time action by Reliance Home Comfort.
Took the day off from my work. Waited and waited. Shocking.
What kind of word of mouth advertisement can one get when you are not acting in good faith?
Reliance Home Comfort
My furnace's motor was not working.
1. Booked one week in advance.
2. Took Sept-2-2022 off from my work and waited all day (8am to 12noon appointment).
3. A tech comes around 1pm
4. orders the new motor
5. motor delivered at 5.
6. Dispatch books some one to come between 5pm to 8pm
7. around 7pm a tech calls (with caller id) to say he is coming in fifteen minutes.
8. around7.20pm e-mails me saying no one was at the house - blatant lie.
9. The dispatch books a call for Sept-3 8am
10. Some one does come at 8 am
11. spends an hour and finds out the parts delivered is the wrong one.
12. the tech says it will take more than a week to get new parts.
13. the tech suggests that I rent a new air condition!
Draw your own conclusion as to how reliable is Reliance Home Comfort. Imagine if this was winter. Wait for one to two weeks because they do not have parts.
Furnace
It has been since Sunday that I have been out of a furnace due to a flooding in my basement. I have been contacting Reliance since Sunday night and they are sending the wrong people to the house. Mon am the service technician was like the furnace just needs a control board he will order and it will come the next day, nothing arrived. We asked him to look at the water bottle and he said it was fine. Mon evening around 7pm we had no hot water. Called reliance again and they said we have to reschedule another technician for the next day. My husband found a Technician on the street at 10pm and asked him to help me and he did. Kudos Kenmore! He repaired it and the next day Reliance schedule a sales rep to show up at my home, why? The equipment is under rental and it is not working they got damage and I would like them replaced not repaired, Nine years ago they repaired a motor from the other furnace a a couple days late it started burning. I always pay for the extended coverage and they made me replace at my own cost just as when my AC died to. Too many issues for a healthcare individual to go through right now. Another appoint was schedule for today for someone to come after 5 the person called at 4 to say he will be there in 10 mins, Why? What is going on I am fed-up and can't keep on calling Reliance 2-3 times a day. This is unbearable now and I would like my service ASAP. You guys better do something to resolve this incident before it ends up on CP24. We are all going through many issued since Sunday and would like some empathy from the workers at Reliance customer service.
Hot water tank
Staggering incompetence and lack of care. My rented water heat sprang a leak Tuesday August 9 and I was over a week without hot water. Three times they sent a tech The first one left us with flooding (didn’t drain the tank or check the shut off valve) and told us we’d have to cut through the wall and move the toilet to get it out. ZERO emergency service in spite of advertising 24/7 service. I explained it was an emergency as my flooring was being damaged, I had to pick 3 sons from the airport and it was my mother’s funeral the next day. We drained it, bought a clamp to shut off water flow, got it out of the closet, no cutting required, and when they sent a pick up tech ( I specified a 50 gallon tank needed to be removed from my basement) they sent one fellow who took a look and said he couldn’t do it alone I have spent countless hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue to absolutely no avail other than wasting my time! Finally emails and phone messages to the CEO resulted in a phone call Tuesday August 16. All this after paying promptly for 15 years! Appalling !
System protection plan
I cancelled my water heater and protection plan after renting for almost ten years. Yet I continue to get charged month after month. I have called in numerous times waited for hours on the phone and spoken to several people who all confirm that everything is cancelled and I will not get charged anymore. A new month is upon us and I get a new bleeding invoice. Is this company really this incompetent or do they just keep doing this to continue milking the customer?
To anybody thinking of renting a water heater, or furnace or a/c from Reliance I have one suggestion. DON'T! Read all the complaints below and see what is in store for you. It's a nightmare.
Desired outcome: A full refund of all payments to the plan. Closing my account and not a single bill or letter from this company any more.
Unauthorized Service Protection Plans.
I have been on the phone daily with Reliance Home Comfort only to get the royal run around each time I call. As I am writing this I have been on hold for the Customer Resolution Department for over 45 minutes. They have been taking money from my personal bank account without my consent for two service plans. System Protection Plan and Plumbing Protection Plan. The total owing me as of today is 1,118.21. I would like my money back and would like to know how this was done without my permission.
Desired outcome: Total refund of what they took from my account, 1,118.21 and an explanation as how this happened without my knowledge or consent.
Purchase of a/c unit
my goodman a/c unit purchased from reliance in the fall of 2016 stopped blowing cold air I had a service tech from reliance come out and check it He said my compressor was gone and I would be better off buying a new unit I have only used this unit for 4 summers and am still making payments Called the resolution department at reliance and was told I only had a 5yr warranty that was sept 2021 and I should call the manufacturer of the compressor and she gave me the serial # to give. The guy who answered checked it and said i only had 5yr warranty because it was never registered. I went online to Goodman and found out they have a lifetime warranty for their A/C units but it needs to be registered within the first 60 days of purchase WHAT! At no time was I ever given this information by the reliance sales rep who sold me the unit. I want to know if I have any recourse for this situation If I had of known I could of simply registered my unit for a lifetime warranty I would of done so, instead of now making payments on something that is no good.
Desired outcome: Any thoughts on what to do next?
incompetent service by technician
Service location: 305-4975 Southampton Drive, Mississauga ON, L5M 8E5
I am the owner of the service location and have tenants renting there. On July 26, 2022 a technician came to the service location to inspect and determine why AC was not working properly. Following his inspection, he stated in his field notes (attached) that the system was blowing warm air. He verbally recommended a full AC system replacement. My representatives for this home visited the service location to assess later that day. They noticed that the system knobs were not in the right location, so they adjusted appropriately. Following this step, cold air was coming out of the vents and the AC was working properly. I want to express my dissatisfaction towards the Reliance technician that concluded the entire AC system needed replacement. If my representatives had not gone to the service location, this would have been a severe expense that I would have had to pay. I pay a monthly charge to Reliance and expect competent and honest technicians to deliver their service.
Lien
I need someone anyone to contact me regarding a lien on my home. I have emailed so many people and spent countless hours talking with people. I just want to settle this. It has been so exhausting, and it shouldn't be. I trusted you to help my family and I and this is how you treat people. Sean OBrien, this is not a company that I would be proud of and I'm sure this is not what you had imagined. Is money that important.
Please help
Desired outcome: Just for someone to help me
Lien on our home
I went to sell my home only to find out that we have lien on our home. This is so crazy. I have tried numerous ways to contact them and when I finally reached someone they had my wrong name and phone number. I need help in locating my bill, paying off what I can afford. I might just drive to TO and go directly to Head Office.
Please please can someone please help me.
We sold our home and we need this rectified prior to August 24/2022.
Desired outcome: To have someone help me remove the lien and pay off some of this account. It truly was a horrible experience.

Double Water Filter Scam
My elderly mother living in Georgetown, On was coerced into purchasing a second water purification unit when she already had one. This company was purchased by Reliance Home Comfort….who she has a furnace & air conditioner with and they refuse to correct this foul play/deceit. They offered to give a 15% discount on both the air con and furnace calling it 30% which was their limit to offer. When I said ok….30% on each would be fine as it would offset the majority of the scam unit….they backtracked their offer!
Desired outcome: Removal of 2nd scam unit and elimination of the monthly charge
furnace buy out
For the past 2 days I have been trying to buy out our rental furnace. This morning I was transferred to 6 different representatives, where finally I was put through to automated payment where I entered my credit card information and the amount I wanted to pay. When I entered the last information needed I was cut off before getting confirmation of payment. I called back again and this time I was told I would have to call my credit card to find out if the payment was pending because nobody at reliance could tell me if the payment went through. I have now been on hold with my credit card provider for the past 40 minutes. This is very frustrating. It should not be this difficult to buy out a furnace. Our house has sold conditional that we buy out the furnace, our closing is Sept 2nd and I need to get this cleared up with proof of buyout.
Desired outcome: to be able to buy out our rental furnace and get proof of payment for buyout

I'm very frustrated to learn that Reliance placed a lien on my home for $13,300 under 2035881 ONTARIO INC.
They are not responding to First Canadian Title and I have been waiting for an approval to refinance my home for MONTHS.
Desired outcome: Temporarily suspend the lien so FCT can approve access to funds.
Reliance hot water on demand boiler install
I discovered that Reliance put an undisclosed lien on my house after I sold it this spring following renting a hot water on demand system from Reliance. This complicated and almost jeopardized my real estate deal. I then had to stay on top of them to generate a NOSI Discharge report. When they finally produced, I noted that it stated, "pending discharge", with only 4 days in the system even though I had paid out the amount owing in full over a month earlier. The fact that Reliance even felt a need to secure their chronically dysfunctional hot water tank that needed servicing every other month, at a worth just $11,300 against my house raises question marks. Furthermore, the fact that it was secured using an unknown numbered corporation is greasy and questionable for a company like Reliance. I was also unhappy when I asked for the total bill owing back in early April to clear the amount and their customer service representative forced me to wait a month to get the auto-generated total before allowing me to pay it. I was exceptionally dissatisfied that this has impacted on my real estate deal, complicated the relationship with my buyer, and resulted in a holdback of funds owed to me solely due to Reliance's inaction/incompetence.
During the 3 years that I had an account with Reliance, I would on average wait an hour to talk to customer service, would usually then get forwarded to another division of Reliance where I would be put on hold for another hour, sometimes the line would drop on their end, and I would have to repeat the entire process again. Often, even after getting through to a customer service representative, they would not be able to answer my questions, or would contradict what other Reliance representatives had told me.
For me to take the time to time to write this essay should speak loudly to how I feel about this company. Easily the worst one in the industry, avoid at all costs!
