I went to Kaneohe Safeway on June 22, 2019 at 12:25am. At first I told my kids to go and get 2 sub sandwiches from the deli the lady that was working told my kids we have NO MORE! And I can't go in the back to make it for you.. she then said come back tomorrow.
I then came inside and asked the lady if she could make us 2 sub sandwiches. She then told me that she can't because she is short handed and she is just helping the deli out, she is a cashier, and if customers come she won't be able to help them.
WHAT I don't understand is that I am a customer myself! And she couldn't help me because if other customers came? That is such bad customer service! Unbelievable!
And on top of this all. I also came in last night for the sub sandwiches. And the deli was out of them! I drove down to Safeway twice just to get sandwiches. And left with nothing Such a waste of time and money.

I purchased Vanilla bean for baking and when I went home noticed the lid was cracked and seal Broken when I tried to return the item that was damaged and tampered with I was refused by Mike a young man who claimed to be the only manager around today. He stated the item was to much price wise. I have been left with damaged and tampered with in useable beans. This is not a store I will ever use again considering I can't even have an item replaced or returned when you sale. Damaged product.
rude unacceptable employee
I live in Chelan, Wa. A popular tourist destination, on Lake Chelan. I am a 64 year business owner with a very positive attitude. I shop at the local Safeway 6-7 times a week and have a good rapport with the store employees especially "Kelley" in customer service. So on Saturday late afternoon I drove my boat to the Safeway gas station an fill my boat with gas. The outboard motor requires mixing oil in the tank which I did. I made certain I wasn't preventing any customers from accessing the fuel station. It was a slow time of day. I also tossed out a few cans in the garbage. I had no need to go inside as I paid at the pump. Now with my back to the door, out steps the station attendant, Mark Fix. He says "Excuse my sir but you will need to move your van and boat to somewhere else" . I looked to make certain I wasn't preventing any customers to fuel their car. There was no one. So I told Mark Fix, " I'm not preventing anyone from accessing the fuel pump and soon will be done" He quickly replied in a very negative tone, "This is not a detail shop, you need to go now!" I was shocked to the point where I was speachless. I was not detailing my boat, so it was a very odd thing to hear him blurt out. He then goes into his work station. After going boating, it really bothered me that this guy would say such a negative thing to me. He knows I'm a local in our town of 5, 000. So after boating I decided to go back and get his first and last name. He knew I was going to file a complaint, so out of the blue he now says to me, "Don't threaten me" I made no threat of course. So it was bizarre to hear him make such a foolish statement. Knowing logic would not apply with him, I then just left.
Our Safeway has a shortage of people and are even offering people a $500. bonus to work this summer. So I'm not trying to get him fired. He just needs either re-training or placed in the warehouse away from customers until he can get his head together.
I know the manager, Bill but just from friendly hellos. As I mentioned it's a small town. Not sure he knows my name we just smile, have small talk and move on.
So that's what happened to me and it should never happen to anyone. Totally unprofessional and without merit.

I was like to file a complaint regarding one of the delivery drivers. On Saturday, June 15th 2:12pm the man driving one of your delivery trucks tried to drive me off the road. He also was tailgating me and mouthing for me to pull over. He was very hostile.
The licenses plate was Washington State and the number was #C10738H. Just wanted to inform this company on one of their delivery drivers and the type of representation it serves for Safeway.

Our DC Safeway on Georgia ave asks you to donate $ for the homeless, or kids bs constantly! You have no clue where the $ is going and when you say "not interested" the cashier is immediately cold and rude! Safeway you should not be turning your miminum wage/or close cashiers into beggars! This just happened at 6am at Georgia ave and Roosevelt in dc nw. Cashier was a deep voiced black woman. It's really the managements fault not hers but she was rude when I said no.

I was at the store yesterday at about 5 PM to buy a bottle of pop but I left. There were about 30 people waiting in the self serve aisle and a dozen each at three open check-outs. I complained to the Manager but all he said is "what can I do?" I understand he was overwhelmed but he has to be better prepared. This neighbourhood of Kitsilano is growing so fast... you need more people to get the customers in and out. I've been going to Safeway for 50 years but I've become impatient to stupid people. I'm going to go to IGA just up the street from now on... it was all the wasted time standing in lines that pushed me over the edge.

Although majority of Safeway employees are hardworking individual the store located at ''9620 28th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98126'' overnight stocker I believe he is of ''Mix Race'' and ''iam a white guy(Writing this complaint) and I seen how this guy(another customer) was treated ; last night by this overnight stocker and not by the clerk but how the customer last night was not happy and the customer(Another) kept saying this worker who did not have a ''Name Badge'' was hostile now I witnesses a cutomer get mistreated by this stocker(Mix race Guy) who had ''Wireless headphones in his ear'' not the ''checker(heavy set guy) and whom was polite and respectful the entire time, but the worker(wearing glasses and wireless head phones was hostile and disrespectful) toward the other guy.. I over heard Kurt is the Store Manager and Kurt has been notified but after seeing another person get treated this way I will never shop at Safeway again.

safeway's "signature" brand
I've noticed a trend at my neighborhood Safeway of replacing well-liked name brands with your Signature brand. I just opened four cans of varied beans for a salad only to find probably 50% of the beans broken. This doesn't happen with name brands. I've also tried your brand of frozen foods, rice mixes, etc. and have never been happy. If you expect me to continue as a Safeway customer, you'll need to step up the quality.
rude service from employee
On May 30, 2019 at the Lake Stevens store I purchased a six pack of non-alcoholic beer and proceeded to check out using the self check out. I was approached by the clerk that was working the self check out and she demanded to know my birth date. I informed her that I was purchasing non-alcoholic beer and she proceeded to tell me that if I did not give her my birth date that I could not purchase the product. I gave her my birth date and paid for the items. Upon leaving I stopped by her station and told her that she was extremely rude and needed to work on her customer service. She blurted back at me that I was rude to her because I did not give her my birth date when she asked. I told her that I wanted to talk with her manager. The store manager came out to talk and immediately told me that I was wrong...
This is the worst customer service I have ever seen. Now mind you, I am over 60 years old so I dont look like a teenager trying to buy alcohol. More than that, I did not expect an employee to reply back to me for being rude. I dont think that is how customer service works. As a last note, I appreciate the manager sticking up for his employees but needs to understand his role as a service manager in taking care of customer complaints.
lorry dangerous driving
Lorry YB18 OSL today at 9am in Leamington by the Shires roundabout was driving dangerously with speed towards the junction. I was on the roundabout, which forced him to break. Then he was abusive because he seemed not to want to stop and follow rules of the road. If he had not stopped in time, at the speed and the vehicle, he would have undoubtedly killed us on impact. This experience was very traumatising and hope that this is dealt

I do not normally send complaints however I felt that this time this needed to be addressed as this is the second time I have witnessed this situation. A couple months ago I witnessed a situation where an employee was being yelled at by another employee in front of all the customers. Did not catch his name but I think it was very inappropriate. On Friday the 17th I again witnessed the same man yelling at yet another employee, pulling meat from the coolers throwing it in carts in a violent manner using offensive words and again in front of customers. I am not sure what this mans position is with your organization however this time I got his name off of his name tag. His name is Doug. Both instances were in the meat dept.
It appears that your employees are working in an hostile work environment.

I have been coming to the Safeway gas station here in Phoenix Arizona located on 83rd ave and Camelback . I have never had any issues with any of the employees at this location till just recently. I always go to the gas station and the gentleman name EARL is so unprofessional and rude, does not have the basic manners as to please and thank you . I know what it is to work in customer service as I am a General manager myself . This gentleman has came up to me for not wanting my receipt telling me I have to wait till he is done. A few other incidents that have occurred with gentleman has caused me to to make the decision to never come back to this location again.

I have been getting Safeway delivery for 8 years. I am disabled, hard for me to get to the store. I lived in the bay area 7yrs ago and had Safeway delivered there for a year, it was really successful so when I moved to the Central valley, I continued but it is different here. My deliveries come from a very small older store in Stockton Ca, about 20 miles from me in Manteca, Ca. I have contacted Customer Support here several times about why they would not use the newer larger store here, or the big nice new Tracy, Ca store about 15 miles from here. The old store consistently has out of stock problems, and for a good sale like $5 Fridays, I would have to order delivery early in the morning approx. so that the picker would have first pick of stocked items. Otherwise most items will be out of stock on my receipt. The drivers always have told me the Stockton store isn't large enough to stock up items enough for the large amount people that come on Fridays. But all orders I do or have done in all these years will have 2 to 8 items out of stock and/or substituted with whatever the picker or shoppers want to substitute with. Even though I have now resorted to all capitol letters, they do not read my instruction on the notes. I Take the 45-50Min to type in what can be substituted on each item, one by one and feel extremely disrespected by whoever is shopping for me. A lot of times I have to call customer service to get reimbursed because the shopper substituted with a very expensive item I did not want. I have shopped at Safeway for years myself and I know very well, that sometimes I had to search for an item, maybe 5 minutes or so, and I truly feel the shoppers are a lot of times being lazy, and just say out of stock instead of going to another part of the store. Just a few orders ago, I really needed medical tape, My first order I ordered it, out of stock, 10days later, another order, I put in two different substitutes and still out of stock they said, so using non medical at home, my next order, I ordered TWO different medical tapes, both with 2 possible substitutes i typed in, on EACH tape, and STILL got note out of stock! I knew this item was in middle of store, in the foot care, wound care area, the shopper would need to go there and look little bit. I could NOT believe all those were out of stock so the same day, I called the store with my issue, the employee went and looked, and every item of tape was there but ONE! So I called customer service with the order number with the number of the shopper. All I can hope is that person is NOT shopping for another person who is dependent on delivery for their groceries.
I do want to say that ALL these years of delivery, the drivers have very consistently been so very wonderful. They are kind, helpful, responsible, apologetic for store issues they have no control over, and knowledgeable. I can always rely on them for their jobs.
clerk customer complaint
I just got back from the longest wait ever at my nearby branch, where I've been shopping for decades. Not only was it something like a 40-minute wait while only ONE new, inexperienced young checker named Conan struggled to serve an enormous line of customers (I counted over 30) all by himself — until his register went down, and then he couldn't get anybody to come help — but when a manager finally did come (he was on his all-important break while the store was totally jammed up), he had quite an attitude. The new manager's name I don't know, but it might be Brian.in any case, Brian was a jerk. After he finally showed up and started taking customers (from the end of the line, not from where he should have taken them from), all he cared to talk about was his break — he had no idea about apologizing to everybody for the extremely long wait. Neither did Conan — all he could do was smile, which was charming but rather mindless — but he's inexperienced. Brian seems to be more experienced. But not enough to know how to treat frustrated customers. The glare he gave me as I was leaving was truly ugly. I hope I don't have to deal with this guy again, even if it means not shopping there.
Ever since the excellent, professional Greg Peterson was recently transferred out to another branch, and most of the decent employees have been totally replaced — very much for the worse — the entire store has gone sharply downhill. But tonight was the lowest of the low. Really lousy service, and lousy attitude to go with it.
You don't need to ply me with coupons — but what I would like to know is whether you're going to do anything about it. Does the idea of training come to mind? Whe Greg was there, newbies had a great model to learn from. Now — the store is in pretty bad shape.

I was in the saferway of SAN RAFAEL CA STORE 653, B STREET, I HAVE NEXT TO HERE, to do some shopping as usual, before I had nothing to complain about I was always very well attended by the staff of the box, but today it was different until I was surprised, I was served by a person so badly educated, bad tempered, thick and everything else, imagine that she wore an ID of "Tamara the manager" who was in the box queue looked at her without believing, she did not talk she just spoke too loud and in a very thick, crude and irritating voice. I had to ask her if she was feeling well, if her day was good, what happened, so she softened her tone. simply because when I got a can of coffee that was in the promotion I took a price together that was loose on the shelf, she got angry and began to talk without stopping, I left her screaming, screaming, enraged. I have not seen a person who says that a manager of a place acts like that without a reason. I HAD TO REGISTER THAT, NOW I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT I WAS THERE.
