mice in the french bread bins
I was shopping and was looking for the thin rolls of french bread and the manager walking the floor showed me where I could find them. As I squeezed a couple I looked down into the bin and saw a live mice just helping himself to the bread. I walked away deciding not to buy any french bread. As I was walking out the door I saw the manager again and told her about the mouse. She rolled her eyes as if to say it wasn't a big thing. I thought her response was pretty flagrant. But hey that's Safeway
starbucks employee
It was my worst coffee shopping experience ever at the Starbucks inside Safeway, at first she didn't know how to make the Frappuccinos and she wouldn't listen on how to make one until I asked if she could call her boss and ask, then she said she was waiting for reply, then I asked her what other drinks she knew how to make and her reply was a lot of drinks, I told her that wasn't my questions, then the person called her back on how to make it, then she asked me would it be ok if she used chocolate coconut whipped cream cause she ran out of the regular whipped cream and she didn't want to make it, I was like are you for real, I told her not to put any on, I almost felt like asking her for my money back after that reponse. It be like me sending my apprentices out to a commercial building and having them hook up a 400volt panel with only 2 weeks of training well there smart of enough they probably could do it...

rewards points
I am writing to you to let you know, that I am disappointed in your rewards points system of deleting the news points at the end of the month. As a devoted customer of yours, I work hard for my money to go to your store and purchase your products and earn rewards points and then come to find out if I don't use on by the end of the month you delete them. To me and to many others and probably to everyone that is a customer of yours the earns reward points it's disappointing that you actually steal, take away without us actually allowing you to, are rewards points that we rightfully earned. So I just thought I would let you know that there are many people who are not very happy with the method that you are doing with your rewards points system. I think there's probably a better way of doing your system without giving them to I found then taking them away. If you're going to give them 2S there should not be a limit on when we can use them. I know that if the word got out to everybody in they really understood what you're doing to us, by stealing our rewards points that are rightfully ours to use pama that you might have many customers that don't shop at your store anymore. I hate to say that that um that's just the way it goes cause people have many many more choices than just to go to your store. And you should realize that .
I'm hopeful that someone in your company will read this and have a few heartfelt feelings for all of their customers that are spending their hard earned money in your store. It would be pretty easy to change the way you're doing your reward point system and make your devoted customers much happier people. And then maybe they wouldn't be going on over to Fred Meyer Walmart all those other grocery stores that are enticing them to shop at their store instead of yours.
So I will be waiting for an answer to this message to you. I'm pretty sure you realize what you're doing to us. And it's not the fault of Employees at your Stores they don't make the policies you do.
I take this complaint earlier but when I got to the proceed the process my complaint section it said that it wouldn't even be recognized as it wasn't 350 words are more. That's crazy! Why does a complaint or an idea make any difference if it's 5 or 350 words?
Well I guess I got to complaints in there now. I just hope um you will understand your customer's feelings towards this and maybe remedy the situation.
Regards
Eileen

supervisor
I want to file a racist supervisor who tried to kick me out of the Redmond store tonight around 9:09pm.
I have a picture of her as well as a video recording.
Before this blows up and I post on social media on how she misrepresent Safeway which my family shops there for years.
For final remarks is if I catch you in my store again, I will kick you out!
Pls give me a call at +[protected].
cashier
Walked up to self check out, cashier rushed over to watch my check out two items, then went a nd watched other lady. Got bag and receipt, I had trash in hand threw away, leaving. Cashier asks could she help, i daid no, i just felt racislly profiled. ( it was very weird) then a short old cashier passed by and said dont pay any attention to that, go back to your station. I went and asked for a manager. While tellung her what happen, the same old lady with black and white hair left the customers in line and came over to customer service counter to repeat what i said. I told the manager I thought that was odd also. The manager did not say I am sorry, she did not say she would speak to cashier. She said it was weird. It was the most stupid, dumb, ignorant hick thing I habe ever seen

Safeway Store # 1222
Lahaina, HI 96761
Aloha;
I've been coming to Safeway since it opened in Lahaina many years ago and I've been a member of the "Just for You" program since its inception. If there has ever been a discrepancy between the price at the checkout register and the price offered on the just for you system over the internet; I've always been able to take my receipt up the customer service counter, show whoever is working there my weekly confirmation dated email on my phone or on a printout of this week's deals from the "Just for You" program, and they have always corrected the issue on the spot.
Except for today…;
No; today I had the special experience of meeting someone I have to assume is a manager…; named Cheryl. And she informed me that my confirmation e-mail sent to my phone was not good enough and she needed to see it on something she called the "Safeway App."
But wait - It gets better.
Well; there four people in line at this point (Including myself) and so I said "Well, can you take care of this problem now and I'll get the app at another time ? To which she replied; "No I can't…, I'll just wait until you install the 'app.'
And to put this in perspective…;
No manager at Safeway, EVER, up until now, has failed to immediately take care of a simple register error promptly when shown a receipt and a dated email on the phone, or as a printed copy, of same.
So lets hear it for Cheryl; she's decided to set a new standard for customer service that hopefully won't carry any further than her own personal agenda.
Now, I certainly didn't want to hang everybody else up behind me and honestly, I also didn't want to use up my limited data on my "El-Cheapo" phone plan just to add an app when I can have free Wi-Fi at home. (Did I mention that I'm a 'computer illiterate' as well ?)
So I took my receipt back, went and did my shopping, and then went home to attempt to install the app. Now, for what its worth, it didn't take that long to install and after it installed itself (In about 5 minutes); it asked me for the location of the store by zip code. And then asking for my phone number.
But then; I couldn't use that number because I already use my home phone for my Safeway card. And I still haven't cleared up that mess yet.
The point here is twofold. Nobody has ever asked to see my
"Safeway App" before and it clearly wasn't a simple little addition to my phone.
It still isn't even "Up and Running" as I type this.
Look; I know that the present "Store Upgrade" has got some people on edge. And we all have bad days now and then…; But
Is this the type of management experience you want your clients
to have when shopping at your store ? Really ?
Sincerely;
Steven Jenison

This is my first complaint and there is nothing to update
expired food
Hi, normally I don't submit complaints like this but it is the second time it has happened at your Kingstowne, Virginia location in the last year. Over the weekend I purchased a pack of four pre-made premium beef burgers for $10. When I got home, I looked at the small print and they had expired four days prior. I understand mistakes happen but I bought gluten free pancake mix in the fall and it had expired three months prior. By the time I got home in both cases, I didn't want to battle traffic and drive back to the store so I had to throw them away. It is extremely frustrating that expired food continues to be sold at this location. I shouldn't have to search for expiration dates on everything I buy from your store. Has definitely made a negative impression and I've already told my roommates to be on the lookout and avoid that Safeway location if possible. Completely unacceptable
general food products
My store is baker city Oregon 97814. My concern is the waste of food products that could be donated or discounted to avoid throwing away . Last year I watched a worker in the produce dept throw away plums and other fruits that could of be used for eating or juicing or livestock food. I did ask him where they were going and he said the trash . couldnt discount, couldnt donate for people or livestock . what a waste as they were still edible. this year I had workers in the deli throw in the trash bbq ribs that were partially burnt on the grill. I told her my concerns about wasted food . no couldnt discount, couldnt donate. Part of the racks were still good . she threw away 6 racks while I was watching and talking to her. I find this unacceptable with todays poor and needy people.MY area is lower income and alot of needy reside here. Do you have a store policy or program in place to remedy this? If not please look into this it would do alot in the way of shining your light and brand in the public eye. thank you
harassment
The night "Manager" accuses customers of stealing. Claims that he actually saw the person put something in to their pocket or bag, even says he has it on video but when the customer asks him what it was that he saw them take or to see the video of his claims he then tells them "I saw you, I saw you I'm the manager". Then proceeds to tell the customer they are going to let everyone know, spread their face everywhere. Meanwhile the customer is still asking what it was that he says he saw them take. He proceeds to insult the customer and act big and bad when he's half every customers size.
This guy has a serious problem. Possibly little man syndrome. I'm a frequent customer myself and have seen this so called manager do this to a few customers and it is wrong. Something needs to be done about this man.
customer service
Safeway please, please do something about your employees at store # 1690 Corvallis Oregon. Such a lack of professionalism (Kayla & Cheryl) Ha! Kayla called me, the customer unprofessional. I told her I don't need to be but you do. So much nastiness at this Safeway today. See the chain reaction you caused Cheryl. I wonder if you will ever learn. I am very upset with these people and Safeway in general.
Cheryl works at the Corvallis, Circle Blvd store 1690. Cheryl would argue with a sign post! Because of her attitude and constant arguementive behavior I will no longer frequent this store. Good job Safeway, getting rid of most of the knowledgeable, kind employees. Cheryl is a piece of work. Whatever promotion she was given has gone to her head. The Albany store however has kind compassionate employees like Rhonda who goes out of her way to satisfy her customers. A HUGE shout out to Rhonda at store #1659. Her words were exactly what a customer likes to hear. Cheryl on the other hand has no filter! It's a shame. I've been shopping at the Corvallis store since it opened. No more. I'll go out of my way for good customer service rather than being belittled by some wanna be that can't keep her mouth shut. RUDE! This is not the first incident involving her. I've let it slide before but no more. I'm done! Cheryl is petty & ridiculous.
Are you kidding me?!?!? I decided to take the outdated scallops back to this store since the assistant manager was so apologetic concerning an earlier debacle with Cheryl. Now Kayla the night manager was snarky when I told her who I was. I've heard about this situation she says in a not so nice tone. She basically called me a liar & said she knew nothing about exchanging/returning the scallops there instead of me driving back to Albany. I thought I was going to lose mind. Is she really doing this? I'm thinking this particular store skipper the customer service training. I'm done. Goodbye Safeway
deli
I quit recently and the deli manager (who was my manager) said today "how dare you come in here. You have some nerve. I hope it's the last time". I quit three days ago. They are not short staffed. There is enough employees and i had to go back to school. As a customer instead of an employee this is ridiculous. I will not be told to not come to a grocery store because i quit. The store number is 1519.
rotisserie chicken stand
On Sunday, 7/8/2018, my hand was burned by retrieving one of the rotisserie chicken at Safeway, 2600 Fifth Street, Alameda, CA. As I lift the rotisserie chicken container handle, my hand accidentally touched the heat lamp. I put the container back down immediately. I was trying my best to grab the container without touching the heat lamp. The space from the chicken to heat lamp is very small. There's not much room to maneuver the rotisserie container to the cart. Not only that, the container lid slightly came off and the hot steam came out. It was very hot. I had to juggle with it and put down the container quickly into my cart. I fixed the lid immediately so the steam and liquid won't pour out. My hand was in pain from the burn for a few hours. For some reason, that day specifically and that time of day (at 10am), the heat lamp was scorching hot and the temperature was turned up. It also seemed as if the rotisserie chickens were straight out from the oven. The whole stand was hot. I've bought rotisserie chickens plenty of time from this location at Safeway and never burned my hand and was never that hot. I'm glad it wasn't a huge burn as I will say something to the store manager. It was a small burn only. I understand the rotisserie chicken stand is hot. What I don't understand is that the stand was small. There was only a small space to grab the containers in between the heat lamp. There should room to grab and go. Just like Costco. By doing that, there will be a peace of mind to not burn your hand by accident.
Also, the rotisserie chicken stand was full at the time. It was filled with at least 6 containers. I was trying to grab the container behind the front one. That's why I was trying to maneuver it into my cart and got burned.
non service dog allowed in the store
First off I understand that there are people with needs for a service dog in public. But there is no place for them in any store where food for my 10 month old baby and family get our food source from. Tonight I couldn't take it and complained and was asked to fit this into a 350 character complaint. I will stop spending my $ at any store that does
The service do did not have it's vest or paperwork. the lady was a transient all cracked out too. This store has the most I've ever seen in the bay area. Its sad the employees couldn't even control the store by being allowed to ask them to leave their NON SERVICE Dog outside. What has this store, city, and country come to where we are so affraid to stand up for what is right. If it was such an important service dog the person's wellbeing couldn't be without it by it's side for 15 minutes then it's important enough to abide by the rules of law to carry paperwork and the working dogs vest. This lady had neither.
service
I bought 349$ worth of groceries had 2 carts and had to ask the girl that was bagging my grocery for help out, she ran my foot over twice and they just left my second cart and went inside, never offered to help put groceries in the car.. this is the only Safeway that I have been to that baggers don't want to help put groceries in car.. Dillon Montana Safeway needs to get better at customer service all around period.
medication refill
Unfortunately I am a very sick person and I get about 60, 000.00 a year worth of medication. I recently moved 3 blocks away from Safeway and thought it would be great to be so close to one of the limited pharmacies I can go to. In the 6 months I started using Safeway Pharmacy ( 69th and Sandy in Portland Oregon 97213) it became clear this Pharmacy was unusual. They wouldn't order my medication until the refill date and then I had to wait 3 to 6 days for it to arrive. This essentially was forcing me to make my previous 30 day supply last several days longer which is dangerous for my long term health. The last straw occurred a few months ago and now I get on a bus and go all the way downtown once a month to flawlessly get my medication refilled.
The final straw was when the Pharmacy Technician inadvertently typed in the wrong information to my insurance company. I was supposed to get 180 pills for 30 days but Safeway told notified my insurance that it was 180 pills for 90 days. So when I went in the following month for my refills, I was told the insurance would not authorize one for at least another month. I investigated and the Pharmacy admitted they accidentally entered 90 days instead of 30 days.
You would think this would be a simple fix but as it turns out the Pharmacy wasn't interested in making this right. My insurance company understood the error and said the Pharmacy only need change and call my insurance to fix this. The Pharmacy did call my insurance one time but it did not get resolved because there was still confusion. I called my insurance and told them my Pharmacy tried to fix once but got no where. My insurance assured me that was because there was a misunderstanding as to what actually happed but assured me the Pharmacy need only call in for an override. I told Safeway Pharmacy, to call back, they said they would. Safeway Pharmacy is always understaffed and the techs are always snapping at each other due to the stress. Anyway, Safeway said they called back several times but my insurance said they had a record of me calling them 5 times and the Pharmacy only calling once. Out of frustration and the fact I needed my meds, I just paid out of my own pocket nearly 60.00 when it should have been 3.00.
Even if my insurance did refuse to rectify this due to Safeway's original error you would think Safeway would pick up the tab for their own mistake!
In all my 55 years I have never experienced such incompetence.
an employee
Her name was Trust at the customer service desk.
I sent my husband to get a money order for a bill that was due as I had just delivered a baby at the hospital. After being very rude to him about where he should stand to create a line behind the current customer she then told him that she couldn't do the money order because she was closing in two minutes, after sending him behind in a line.
After he told her he needed the money order for a bill she then huffed and was super angry and said she was closing in 60 seconds. After she printed the money order he asked for a pen to fill it out and she threatened to call security on him. He had to come all the way home to use a pen to fill it out. I am extremely upset at how she handled the situation.
If she told him to get in line she need to finish up the line before she closes and not act like she isn't getting paid to do her damn job.
Darn auto correct. Her name was Trudy
pharmacy tech's behavior
On June 5th I called to speak to a manager regarding the behavior of the Pharmacy tech that told my husband he was nothing but a drug addict. I spoke with Andrea and she said she would check into it and call me back, which she did later that evening. She said the girl said she just told him she wouldn't be able to fill both since it was for the same medication. He had one from the pain clinic and another from an Oral Surgeon, he had surgery the day before. Since he has a contract with the pain clinic he has to let them know if he gets a script from another Dr. Which he showed them and they said to go ahead and get both filled since it was for something different. She embarrassed my husband by calling him a drug addict and she has no right to judge him. I talked to Andrea about a week after this happened and she asked if the Pharmacist ever called to discuss what happened and I told her no. Well here it is July 5th and still nothing has been done. I am sure my husband won't ever step foot in the store again and we have transferred all his scripts. I just don't understand how someone like that can get away with treating customers that way.
security guards and manager on duty
I witnessed 2 men who are security for the safeway on church street in san Francisco on the morning of july 4th team harassing a young lady half their size to the point she was crying for trying to wait outside the store for customer service to open at 8am i approached the manager who was bothered by me asking to speak with her and when i explained what happened she rolled her eyes and told me not to bother her with pety things and i didnt know the situation. This is disgusting and i am going to encourage the young woman to contact a lawyer and a news channel. There should have been another way for the security guards and the manager to treat customers. I will not be patronizing establishments any longer. This should not be tolerated in any store anywhere
fuel
I went to the Safeway gas station on Madison and and Dewey in Carmichael, CA. I bought ten gallons of gas and then went into the gas station to buy chips and ask the attendant to turn on the air so I could check my tire pressure. I waited outside for 5 minutes and she did not turn it on. I then went back into the gas station, waited in line and asked her to turn the air on. She said give me a minute. I have now been waiting for 24 minutes for her to turn the air on. The failure of the attendant to provide free air violates California state law as I purchased motor vehicle fuel (10 gallons).
