Unauthorized charge
My vehicle was totaled in September 2022. I called and received a quote on 2 different vehicles that I was considering purchasing but never confirmed the activation of the new policy. On 12/16/22, State Farm deducted $427.22 from my account without my consent for a policy that I did not start (I don't even own the vehicle the policy was started on). I called the office and spoke with an agent who documented that the charge should not have been put through and to cancel the charge. Unfortunately, the charge cleared which caused my account to become overdrawn and all charges following have been charged overdraft fees. I then called and spoke with an agent who informed me that if I was actually due a refund that it would take me 5-7 business days to be refunded. I could not be guaranteed any overdraft fees. I don't think that I should have to wait that long to be refunded nor do I think I should have to eat up over $200 in overdraft fees when I had funds in my account to cover those charges. I was told that someone would return my call (as usual) but of course I will have to call again to request an immediate refund.
Desired outcome: Immediate refund of amount charged as well as overdraft fees acquired.
Refund on cancelled insurance policy
When I paid, you got your money just RIGHT NOW. But, when I'm due a refund, it takes FOREVER! Where's my money? State Farm is worth Billions, yet SO demanding to get their money. And State Farm probably wonders why people are leaving them. Not just the child thing, (GenderCool) or gouging prices, or excuses for raising prices, or stuff like this. We've had enough!
Desired outcome: Direct Deposit my money immediately upon cancellation
Water damage
Claim# 05-41W028K
I am very disappointed to know that my claim had been denied. I am not happy with State Farm at all for not considering the damage done to my property. I have been very faithful to tell the truth about the damage, alternatively I could have told a lie to get my claim paid.
The leak was behind a wall that no owners would know, how would you expect for me to see behind the wall what's going on. There was no pool of water visible to report the claim immediately, (per your requirement). You should be considerate and stand for your customers, in need for help in this situation.
I pay home owners insurance for a reason, and this is one of the reasons. I was bluntly denied on my 1st conversation to a claims specialist (Michael Anderson), bringing up some hidden disclosers as a result of the denial. The fine print disclosures are hidden during selling of insurance policy and during payment for losses, these fine prints become readable even with blind eyes.
I hope some responsible managers will take a look at my email, and perhaps re consider my claim. If still the answer is no, then I will probably reach out to some higher-level management for reconsideration. If my attempt fails completely than I will have no option than to: #1-Change the insurance company and, #2- file report with BBV and beyond.
Another matter that I want to bring up to you guys' attention: please be advised that in June of this year, I got a rental car for $25/day from State Farm. This price qualifies for the smallest car in the car industry, e.g. a smart car, I than upgraded to a better car for extra $5/day. My portion was $68.12 for 13 days plus the tax @ 9.875% should be a total of $74.84. The rental company in conjunction with State Farm charged me TAX on the full rental cost amount of $451.51, upon advice from State Farm-per the rental car company. I now understand that millions of customers are being victimized by State Farm for passing their portion of the tax to the poor customers.
I consider this as a tax fraud, that is a serious offence. I spoke and pleaded to your agent in regards to this matter, and also to the claims team a number of times but they bluntly told me they don't pay tax. It's a surprise - State Farm is a Tax-Exempt company? I was about to report this to the IRS but decided to put a temporary hold. I will now go ahead with my report to IRS, I have all my documents in possession as evidence. I will request IRS to carry out an audit, not only on this issue but the denied claim to me and also the previous denied claims to all other poor customers.
I will wait for a response and a reconsideration to my claim, before proceeding with this action. I hope that someone look into this immediately and respond, to avoid further action as explained above.
Sincerely,
Karan Singh
Desired outcome: Response and re consideration.
Auto insurance claim
On October 19, 2022, my husband drove his truck through the Autobell car wash here in Virginia Beach. As soon as he returned home, he noticed there was damage to the paint. He immediately went back to Autobell to try and resolve the issue but was unable to. That afternoon we filed a claim with State Farm online. I sent a copy of the carwash receipt along with some pictures that probably weren’t the best pictures. I believe it was around end of October that we received a voicemail from SF stating they do not cover chipped paint on seven year old vehicles. I did call the claims department at that time and they had already closed the claim. I explain to the person that it was not chipped paint but had been damaged by the jets and brushes at the car wash. We then notified our agent and sent him more pictures and he agreed that we should resubmit and he did that for us. After not hearing for sometime, I called the claims department and they informed me the claim was closed so I inquired further and was told it was denied because they don’t cover normal wear and tear. We were never contacted about this either by phone, email, or text. We contacted our agent again and he contacted them on December 2nd that we wanted to have an adjuster look at the damage. I received a phone call from a SF claims person on Friday, December 2, stating they were setting us up with an adjuster and it would take 3 to 5 days to get the appointment. Yesterday, December 5, we received a text message at 8:11 AM with an attached estimate. The estimate had all zeros And at the location, it said residence along with our address and the word “virtual.” We were totally confused by this and then at 9:51 AM I believe it was, we received another estimate via email stating the same thing. There was no explanation with these estimates about what was going on so I again called the claims department and was told an adjuster looked at the pictures and decided the paint had come loose from the primer or something like that and therefore claim denied. All in all we’ve been told three different reasons why the claim was denied. We were told that we were being set up with an adjuster. We were never told that someone was just going to look at pictures again. We feel like we have been extremely miss treated by Statefarm with this whole process. My husband keeps his truck meticulously clean and in very good shape. There is no other part of that truck that has paint wear and tear, chipped paint or anything like that. We have never put in a fraudulent, frivolous claim with State Farm or any other insurance agency. We feel like we were not believed and we are really struggling with having any kind of trust with SF. We have never received anything in writing other than the estimates with the zeros on them which was confusing because we didn’t understand why we were getting estimates with zeros when we hadn’t even met with the adjuster. I understand that you probably get many claims from people that use car washes as a means of putting in a fraudulent claim. However, we have never done that nor would we ever do that. we are just having a very hard time with the way this whole process was done.
Desired outcome: We would like to meet with an adjuster in person like we were led to believe was going to happen, would like an apology for the way this process was handled.
Vehicle insurance
I recently changed fromm USAA to State Farm, what a mistake. Found out real quick how dishonest and full of crap they are. USAA was always great for 30 years, money got a little tight, so I switched to State Farm. Was involved in a nofault accident, I was rear ended while sitting at red light. My vehicle was totaled. They want to give me 5 thousand less that it was worth. All the upgrades that were completed in the past year and a half they aren't giving me the value even with receipt. If it wasn't an option when puchased you are out of luck. And if the upgrade was older than 1 year you receive 0$ for it. The comps that they sent were pieces of crap. I should be made whole as if I wasn't in the no fault accident. They are recuperating the money paid out from the other insurance company. I would like to see what they are paid for my loss vs. What they pay me. Totally dishonest company, be aware stay away!
Desired outcome: Pay me what my vehicle is worth.
Auto insurance
Claim number 3740p933j recovered the car around oct 20 asked state farm to take it to gladstone mazda it is now november 22... Do the math its been over a month the sits at gladstone mazda because state farm adjuster (I think ive had five so far) no wonder none of them are familiar with the claim... Dont know if your feelin the vibe, so let me be clear as a 25 year probably longer state farm customer im fn pissed! That should provide some clarity. I try caling the 5th adjuster cant talk to him... My car continues to sit at the dealership waiting for state farm to do I dont what. I have all the texts emails etc etc etc so there is a long paper trail of extremely poor customer service... No wait there has been none of that. There has been nothing making any premiums state farm has taken worth a single dime. Im getting an ulcer im getting the run around and did I mention im pissed. This should concern you it would me if I was portraying myself as a "service" provider that accepted monthly premiums then said "who cares we got paid" let him be pissed we got the money... Its wrong its criminal
Desired outcome: i dont need apologies excuses or any of that what i need is my car repaired so i may use it because well thats why i bought and paid for it and yes insured it. seems pretty reasonable to me... im pissed.
Auto
On Nov 2, 2022, my catalytic converter was stolen at my job. Since it was around 5pm I took it to a shop that was open. State Farm agreed to replace the catalytic converter costing over $2500.00 but would not give me a rental car. State Farm states my vehicle does not have coverage.
Almost three years ago I had Farmers, and my old truck was hit Farmers gave me a rental while I was transferring to State Farm. I was transferring my vehicle and my girlfriend's vehicle to State farm because of cost. Since I asked for full coverage because I my truck was new when I bought, I thought rental would come with it.
I was told my girlfriend's vehicle had rental car coverage but mine did not. Both vehicles were switched over the same day. State Farm states that rental car coverage is an added feature, but I did not ask for my girlfriend's vehicle to have it and there is nothing stating I declined the coverage. State Farm inform me that they are still going to deny the rental car because I did not check my coverage.
Desired outcome: cover my costs for the rental car
Injury claims specialist
I had spoke with steven senera injury claims specialists with state farm september 21st 2022 about my injury and possibly needing to go back to the doctors, he gave me his number to call back once I was ready to finish processing my claim I call him back november the 2nd 2022 with my call back number and claim number never received a call back I call again on November 8th 2022 left another voicemail called same number to get transferred to another claims specialist and he answers let him know it had been a week since I called and left a voicemail and it was very unprofessional that I had not received a call yet and I would like a call back from his manager today by the end of the day he laughed and said that that was unlikely. I have been without my truck for two months have medical bills piling up and would like to get my claim money to get caught up on my truck payments and other bills ASAP I will not be dealing with STEVEN SENERA AGAIN! thinking about switching insurances as this is my insurance company as well as the driver that rear ended me
Desired outcome: My injury claim money and my medical bill money
Denial culture! Roof damage during a storm
During a storm in April 2022 our roof was damaged as shingles became loose and tore apart from the roof and as a result, we had water leaks in the main bathroom ceiling, living room ceiling, bedroom closet ceiling. We had a public adjuster come on May 19, 2022, with a State Farm adjuster to do a walk-through around the property and inspect the damage. Pictures were taken, a report was processed, and according to the State Farm adjuster he stated they would review and find out if our shingles are still being produced but unfortunately there was no follow-up from State Farm. A few days after the walk-through inspection I received a call from the State Farm representative that shingles on my roof were not installed correctly and therefore could not replace the roof. On May 26, 2022, State Farm processed a check for $1,030.23 to repair the loose shingles and the water damage in main bathroom ceiling, living room ceiling and bedroom closet ceiling. I have not cashed the check we received as I am unsatisfied with the outcome. I have been a loyal State Farm client since 2011 and have a bundle package and feel dissatisfied with their service and treatment.
Desired outcome: I would like State Farm to acknowledge their lack of response. Secondly, I want them to assess the damage and finally I want a refund to cover the replacing of the roof and cover the damage of the interior of home.
Renters insurance
We've been paying renters insurance for 3 and a half years and we had a storm that flooded the wall. Water is coming through in a little crack but need rain to show it. State Farm is doing everything they can and manipulating verbiage to get out of a 100% legit claim. We went to State Farm to not deal with problems if anything was to happen. But they are trying to weasel their way out laziness or just trying to not pay. Not fair. If this isn't resolved I'm getting a lawyer. To crazy
Desired outcome: Stop lying and hold up their end of the deal.
Unjustified insurance increase
Recently I received an increase in my premiums. When I contacted my agent through emails, they stated it was just a "simple increase." When someone is retired on a fixed income an additional $37.77 from the pension each month had nothing simple about it. So I asked again why the increase? This time they stated it was because of my 1980 GMC van, saying the cost of labor and parts has increased. I explained to them that that increase doesn't apply to me, because I only have PL/PD insurance. So instead of correcting their mistake, the manager wrote back and stated that they were going to "resign" my account. We (all of us) pay the insurance company to be responsible for our accidents, but because they singled me out within a group, I demanded a separate contract. If they claim to be responsible for all the people they insure, it's obvious they have lied, because in singling me out, they made me responsible for other drivers. Under the Uniform Commercial Code 1.207 I cannot be forced or compelled to enter into any contract without knowing the implied benefit or the compelled performance of any contract. Which is why I demanded a separate contract.
To cover the cost of the ring which would be over $60,000.
More than 3 years ago, I filed a claim where a property crime occurred via the Internet. Unbeknownst to me, I sold a diamond eternity ring valued over $60,000.00 on the Letgo.com website; A site where people can sale items of value to anywhere in the world. But the payment platform where the buyers used was a spoof site made to look like the legit Paypal site. The name was in my name: Willam Salzman and a payment of $60,600 was in my account.
I was told that when they receive the ring via mail, the money will transfer into my bank account form Paypal. Instead, I was robbed of a ring that was valued over $60,000. I made a claim with State Farm, but they told me I was not covered under my renter's insurance.
Personal property damage reimbursement
My personal property was damaged by a storm roughly June 14, 2022. I have no receipts for the personal property that was damaged. I have supplied multiple photos of all the damaged property. I have also supplied comparable items and the cost to replace. State Farm has not had a problem with paying out the replacement cost for all items except for 1. The one items they are refusing is my Patio dining set. It is an 8 person, 10 piece set with a stone table top and metal frame. I have sent multiple photos of my set and the damage done to my set. I have also sent multiple photos of comparable sets for replacement that seat 8 people and has a stone top. State Farm in return has resent comparables that only seat 6 and have metal frame tops. Obviously the price difference is huge. My table cost roughly $5,500 when I purchased it. The comparables that I sent ranged from $4,300-$4,600 which is well below my original cost. Instead State Farms sends their comparables that cost between $1000-$1,400 and only seat 6 and has a frame top. Definitely not comparable. The adjuster hasn't even sent any comparables that are stone top with seating 8 people. I have asked them to at least supply me with comparable sets with stone tops and seating 8 people but they have not done so. This has been an ongoing ordeal back and forth and I still have not seen any real comparables from state farm but they are still refusing to pay out without a receipt which I do not have. Again, they were okay with approving the other items without a receipt but not this 1 item. I would like to escalate this to a supervisor or manager of the claims department and I have requested for this escalation to the adjuster as well. She has not given me the contact information to speak with a claims supervisor or manager to date.
Desired outcome: I would like state farm to pay out the replacement cost amount for the most comparable table.
Total loss of vehicle
My claim number is 59-39X7-04L. I have called several times. Trying to get an answer on why we have not received our payment for our vehicle determined to be a total loss. Can’t get anywhere! Get a different answer every time we call our “Claim Team”. PLEASE help! We are desperate to buy another vehicle and we can’t do so until we are paid for our Tahoe we lost in hurricane Ian. My number is [protected]. Any help you could give would be a huge help. Sophia & Scott Straka
Desired outcome: Payment of total loss vehicle.
A completely inefficient claims processing resolution which will soon my family thousands of dollars a month.
Early this summer, my wife's and my vehicle was struck by lighting, causing damage to the vehicle's internal engine components. I immediately filed a claim with State Farm and after several delays (it took two weeks just to have the vehicle towed to a mechanic as I had to explain to repeated claim handles that the damage was not external, it then took another month, with the assistance of my agent, to finally talk to someone who realized that no body damage existed and that the damage is internal to the engine, finally I am still waiting for a payment to be made to the dealership for a sensor (the mechanic has to file a separate claim for each sensor , renewing this lovely process with a seemingly inept claims handler each time).
Up to now, I have been patient but as our rental coverage will elapse today; I asked for an extension for the coverage last week. My request was sent for further review and I heard nothing until yesterday when I called to check its status. At that point, I was told that my request was denied because I did not provide pictures of the damage ! I am sick and tired of explaining to what is now probably twenty different claim handlers that I can not provide pictures, that lighting caused the damage, and that the damage (as per our mechanic's estimates) is internal.
Without rental coverage, my family is facing paying not only our auto loan but also rental coverage which based on the current track record will probably take years to resolve! We can not afford to continue this route. I find it very unfair that inefficiency and a general lack of critical thinking and demonstrated shortfall in professional judgment on State Farm's claim processing end could cause us to incur several financial penalties.
After this experience, I have no faith that the expensive premiums that we pay every month, have any value. What is the good of paying hundreds of dollars a month to only pay thousands more when we need coverage to be fulfilled?
Water damage during a storm
In August 2022, a severe rainstorm dropped historically high amounts of water in minutes. On one side of my house, mud or silt runoff suddenly clogged a drain, and debris piled up against the bottom of a fence, trapping water which quickly became approximately 18" deep. The water level rose above the brick ledge and/or went under the slab and appeared in the middle of a bedroom and in a tiled bathroom, approximately 1/2" deep of brown water. We quickly unblocked the water so it could run under the fence and the water level subsided in minutes, but the carpet was soaked and the bathroom vanities were damaged. We do not know if there is concealed damage in the walls or elsewhere. State Farm says this was a 'flood' and said we had no coverage. I understand that a 'flood' involves a lake or tributary leaving its boundary. This was a storm, no where near a river or lake, and likely exceeded the 100 year record. Understanding my policy is next to impossible. Seems like the only thing that is covered is hail and a tornado. Can State Farm deny coverage saying it is 'flood' damage? Also, State Farm refuses to communicate in writing, completely ignoring multiple requests by me. They insist they must speak by phone, recorded, questioning me without giving me opportunity to know the questions they wish to ask, or being able to be represented by someone that knows their tactics. This tactic of refusing to communicate in writing is also experienced from Progressive in a claim where their insured rear ended our car and they have delayed us by over a year while refusing to communicate in writing. Is this acceptable behavior, or a tactic to delay or deny coverage by clever questioning?
Desired outcome: I want the carpet replaced and the bathroom vanities replaced. I also would like to see State Farm sanctioned for delay and denial tactics
Handling of your homeowners insurance claim
After being a State Farm customer for 30 plus years we had to file a homeowners claim due tom a leaking refrigerator. Claim was started 08/15/2022, since then we have had 6 different claim adjusters, 1 approval of the first estimate submitted by contractor. 1 reversal of same estimate by a different adjuster and delays that are too many to count. We are constantly being told policy this and policy that. All requests to speak to a manager in the claims department have only resulted in that a message will be send to the appropriate manager and we will be contacted. Now that has not happened at all after 165 phone calls this morning, I was finally able to get the first name of the manager (they would not provide last name (another SF policy not to provide last names) and get her voice mail to leave a message. Did I get a response to my urgent message NO I DID NOT!
bottom line DO NOT FALL FOR THE "FRIENDLY NEIGHBOR" line, what you get is a very rude and unprofessional company that has no idea what customer service is and has no intention to help you in in a reasonable time frame. ALL I CAN SAY, IS BEWARE WHAT YOU THINK YOU WILL GET DEALING WITH STATE FARM YOU WILL PROBABLY NOT LIKE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FILE A CLAIM AFTER BEING A CUSTOMER FOR 30 YEARS.
Desired outcome: We would like our kitchen tile floor replaced according to the contractors estimate. we would like to finally speak to a MANAGER IN THE CLAIMS DEPARTMENT.
Water/storm damage and theft of household goods
I have had State Farm Insurance on my home and household goods for 20 years. I paid exorbitant premiums and put extra riders on furs and jewelry. I sold my home and prior to removing my household goods from the home, I called and spoke to my local State Farm contact Michael Griffin located in Dunmore, PA. I asked if I was covered for storage and transport of my goods. I was explicitly told yes, I was covered. I chose a local moving company in order to support a local company. BNT Movers in Covington Township, PA. Tony Bader is the owner. Tony assured me that my household goods would go into a brand new facility with temperature control that he just acquired. The company removed my household goods from the home two days prior to the closing on my home, When BNT was delivering to my home in Georgia that I had built, I received a phone call from Mr. Bader when they were approximately half way to my home. Mr Bader informed me that my household goods were damaged and he would let me know the extent of the damage upon arrival at my home. He would not tell me anything else. I was so sick with worry I was vomiting. Most of my goods were damaged, sopping wet or missing. The bill of Lading wasn't even the same one that was used when they took my goods. I immediate made a claim with State Farm. I asked State Farm to come to see the damage. They cancelled the visit. They approved the claim. They then reassigned the claim to someone who denied it, claiming they do not cover mold. There was not mold. Mold was secondary to water/storm damage. The items sat on my driveway and I had to get rid of them due to vermin, heat from sun, etc. 12 months after fact they asked if I still had items. No I did not. They kept giving me new claim people. when one would approve the claim, they would give me someone else. up to 16 claim people. I would like my claim paid so I can move on with my life. it is 3831T979P and 38Z0T017Z. They opened two claims for some reason and had me running up and down the highway to PA and back. My phone number is [protected] I am so tired of them playing checkers with claims examiners. I have told all I know to tell and am tired of being treated like a common criminal. I know there are people out there that do try to claim insurance by lying but my son and I walk with GOD. I have replacement coverage as well. One claim adjuster actually lied to me claiming she had nothing to do with the claim when I called to follow up on the claim. I have all the dates and names of everyone I spoke with and she sure did speak with me and each and every claim person told me it would be completed by the end of the week, the current calendar week I spoke to them. I would hae to start all over again the very next week with a new claim person. This is very poor customer service and someone within the company needs to address the problems and get to the root cause of these issues.
Desired outcome: I would like my claim paid so that I can move on with my life. I cannot afford to live like this with nothing. We slept on blow up mattresses for I can't even remember how long.
Property/homeowner's insurance claim
This is an email I sent to the Claims Dept. & Customer Solutions Dept. on 10/4/2022 and no one has bothered to get back to me.
"Attention Claims Department and State Farm Customer Solutions Department.
I am reaching out to Customer Solutions for assistance with claim number XX-XXXX-XXX. I implore for someone to please take a detailed look at our claim which was filed on our behalf by Storm Life Solutions LLC on 5/11/2022 due to damages caused by a storm in our area on 4/30/2022.
It has been more than 7 months and we are still struggling to get this claim resolved. Attached is a letter detailing all of the ups and downs we have experienced as State Farm customers. Never have we been treated as if we are begging for money. All we ask for is for a fair settlement that should've been resolved months ago.
Upon reading the letter, you will notice that the last update as of 10/3/2022 states that my contractor/public adjuster agreed to pull a shingle sample for the claim handler/adjuster to pick up and submit the State Farms investigation department. This sample should have been picked up today 10/4/2022. I sent a text message to my agent Grace Murray as soon as the sample was pulled letting her know the sample was ready as she had agreed to let Sarah Constance know to pick it up. My contractor also sent Sarah Constance a text message letting her know the same. It is now passed 6:00 PM and I had to call my agent to confirm the message was received since a response was not received and the sample has not been picked up. During this call, my agent let me know she would personally pick it up tomorrow 10/5/2022 from my property and send it to State Farm's investigation department via UPS next day if necessary. At this point, I don't know what to expect anymore!
As you can see, we have been more than patient with this case, but we are running out of time and patience. The weather is unpredictable, and rain is in the forecast followed by snow. Also, the situation inside our second floor continues to get worse every time it rains as water gets in between the walls due to roof damages.
All we ask is to be treated with respect and fairly since we have been loyal State Farm clients for years. I look forward to getting solution soon and really hope State Farm stands by their process as stated on their website."
Attention Customer Care Department,
This letter is to seek customer assistance with homeowner’s claim number 13-33V7-40J was submitted to State Farm Claim Department on our behalf by Storm Life Restoration LLC on 5/11/2022, for severe damages done to our property due to hail and heavy winds in our area on April 30, 2022. An adjuster by the name of Titus was assigned to the claim and was in touch with our Contractor/Public Adjuster with whom he scheduled the first appointment to assess the damages but was cancelled due to rain forecast. A second appointment was scheduled at my property, but the adjuster failed to bring his own latter to climb on the roof to assess the damages. Therefore, my contractor/Public Adjuster offered him to use his latter. The adjuster proceeded to say he was afraid of heights but managed to go up on the roof. While at the property State Farm’s adjuster verbally mentioned to my contractor that there were enough damages to replace the roof and that he would submit it as such. At this point, the adjuster failed to inspect the inside of the house on the second floor where there was water damage as mentioned on the claim when it was submitted. We received an estimate by mail after the claim was evaluated and a decision was determined by State Farm for the damages based on what the adjuster had submitted, indicating the damages were less than our deductible and it only qualified for repairs. Since my husband and I disagreed with the decision, I proceeded to email State Farm Claims Department on 6/10/2022 requesting for the claim to be reopened considering not all damages were assessed for and based on what the adjuster had told my contractor in addition to all the damages found by my contractor while doing the property inspection. State Farm Claims Department proceeded to reopen the case and assign a new adjuster on several occasions once on 6/11/2022 and the second on 6/20/2022 and a third on 7/25/2022 (Sarah Constance). On 7/25/2022 and 7/29/2022 I shared via email all the pictures taken by my contractor showing the damages found to our property.
The first meeting at my property with the new State Farm adjuster and contractor/public adjuster was to take pictures of the internal damages and for my contractor to pull a shingle sample to submit an ITEL report. He offered to pull a sample for her as well, but she said no and said she would need to come back with a latter service for her to reassess the roof damages.
By the second appointment, the ITEL results had come back and indeed the results came back confirming the shingle is no longer made which I proceeded to share via email with State Farm Claims Department. At this appointment on 8/26/2022, State Farm’s adjuster proceeded to reassess the roof damages. My contractor brought a shingle sample of a similar match as indicated on the ITEL report to do a match and in fact if was not a match (different size and color). After adjuster Sarah Constance completed the reassessment of the roof, she proceeded to say (this time directly to me, not my contractor) that “there were enough damages for a replacement” but to give her a couple of days to submit the report and await her manager’s response.
A few days went by, and Sarah never got back to me, nor updated the claim status online, or called or emailed to give me an update on the claim. I’ve constantly be the one calling and leaving voice messages or my contractor doing the same to get a response or me reaching out to my agent to contact her.
The last conversation I had with Sarah the adjuster was that the ITEL report was accepted and to give her 10 days to get me a response by September 29th. She never called or emailed. I left her voice messages on her work and cell phone number, my contractor tried reaching her as well. Comes today Monday, October 3rd and I decided to talk to my agent. At the same time, my contractor finally got a hold of Sarah who tried to conference me in but was not on the call anymore as she picked up a call from my agent reaching her as well. They conferenced in my contractor/public adjuster and told him that State Farm did not accept the ITEL report and that he needed to pull a shingle sample for her to pick up and submit to run their own report. This is something that could’ve been addressed months ago when he offered to pull her a sample. Being proactive and efficient goes a long way and saves a lot of headaches, misunderstandings, and frustration.
We are now talking 7 months into the claim and State Farm has not provided a solution to our claim. The last update is that Sarah Constance is to come and grab a pulled sample from my contractor to submit to State Farms investigation dept and verify if the shingle is longer made. Based on those results I will get a final decision. Now to wait at least another two weeks.
The service has been horrible to deal with and the back and forth asking for one thing, then the other or that they need time to determine a final decision has been long extended. My patience is running out and my frustration has been growing knowing winter is near and this claim remains unresolved.
Desired outcome: I would like an apology for how long this claim is taking. Then for a fair solution to be offered by State Farm as quickly as possible.
Abraham jones, claims agent for claim 4033p089d
I was wrecked by one of your insured on 2May of this year, the accident required that i be bused to the nearest ER for injuries sustained in the accident.
Despite this, I filed/ opened the claim on 4may; Cynthia Fortune was the assigned agent.
By the 6th, I was informed that lindey corely (your insured, also found responsible for this 3 car accident, at the scene) had obtained an attorney who had advised him to NOT speak to you (his insurance company). Sensing OBVIOUS concerns, i also obtained an attorney.
By the end of July, I received an voice message from on abraham jones, requesting consent to recover my vehicle for inspection. This is where the problems begin:
jones, NEVER moved the vehicle (until prompted by me to do so, as soon as i discovered it had never been moved, and was alerted to this by a sf agent who asked ME where the car was).
I have never been given an explanation, or apology as to:
1. why?
2. and more importantly why NO ONE EVER CONTACTED ME TO INFORM OF THIS, specifically jones, who "owns" the claim. by the way in all of this time, I have only received 2 calls from him, and spoken to him directly or by any method 2 times as well throughout the entirety of this. both of the times i spoke to him were calls made by me. he has about a 7% availability ratio.
So, recently being totalled (by you) to the amount of $14,588, of which corely only has a remaining $11,995.60 available to pay. because of this limits issue and NO communication - my claim got queued, and you are short, PRIMARILY because you recovered the vehicle FOUR MONTHS AFTER the accident.
I am fighting insolvency, AGAIN, since this accident, as i have been paying bills, and purchasing food for my family by maxing out almost all of my credit cards.
Does any of this sound like a way you want your company's image carried? By incompetent, remorseless fools, who wont even take accountability for their own mistakes, or lack of efficacy?
0 professionalism, 0 lack of understanding about how his job functions and that he is employed by you, is not very encouraging
Desired outcome: my money (preferably 2 months ago) IN FULL, which you and corely are responsible for
Home insurance:
Originally they sent out an adjuster who said all the nice things and submitted the claim. He asked if I would like his friend to come out and give me a bid. Sure. So he came out and was so rude and obnoxious. He lied about my coverage. His bid was sent directly to State Farm Office (Mark Coleman, Napa). I never did receive any paperwork, as he just filed the claim and called me and asked me when he should come out to fix my ceiling. Never! Meanwhile, I called 2 other companies: DryWall Pros and Rick Robbins Construction. Got bids for $8500 and $8300 from each one. They were rejected because they didn't file a "detailed report" like original contractor did. (But he lied! He added things like "water extraction: $2500" that weren't even necessary). My contractor, Cary from DryWall Pros, spent hours on the phone with Tyler explaining the situation. Then claim was transferred to Kohl. Both guys were argumentative. Tyler didn't take the prearranged video call with Cary and later said they removed him from the case. Cary did all the videos and pictures and they were denied. Kohl was argumentative on his call to me and to Cary and I was in tears by the time he got off the phone.
I later complained to management (James M.) and he referred to another person named Vince. Vince wants further details, which he was given by both DryWall Pros and Rick Robbins. The ceiling is worse than originally thought. Now Vince wants pictures, although the original adjuster (Michael Blank) took lots of pictures. Monday, we called Vince, and he was so rude my daughter even "called him out on talking to me that way on the phone". I took over 40 pictures and figured out to email them to State Farm fire claims. Still not enough. Today I talked to Vince, and he still says that Cary's bid is not enough, even though it is how they do their bids for this company. Now Vince, who originally said they weren't paying to paint the ceiling, told me that they have to paint the rooms: living room, family room and hallway, But Cary hasn't filed the correct bid of what he is going to do. So now Cary is calling him again...
I have been a customer of Mark Coleman State Farm Insurance for over 25 years and feel abused after being treated like this by all these various people. Cary (and his company) will be calling Vince this afternoon. I am 70 years old and technically (and emotionally) challenged. Plus I lost my husband and I am just not up to doing all this). To have Vince tell me..."you think that State Farm should just pay you because you say so" was rude. To treat people like this is terrible.
Desired outcome: I just wanted my ceiling damage taken care of and the rooms painted. Both of the bids were in the same "ball park" except drywall pros was adding an additional $2000 to paint. Rick Robbins doesn't paint. I just want my house fixed.
