Last year took camper out of storage and it was ok this year found water damage to side wall and floor at the slide out. Called State Farm and they said take it to RV repair place and get estament for damages. When I called adjuster said it was of lack maintenance. Realy! I see State Farm is knowen for this type of action.
Was it a lack of maintenance? Did you have a busted seal which allowed water in? The adjuster might have a point.
I know what you mean my awning flipped over on the roof after the stakes were ripped out of the ground by a wind storm in October of 2009 and we had no rain during that period then in January of 2010 I opened the sliders to empty it out and left the sliders opened and we got water damage and the camper is now declared totaled but State Farm is only giving us $2000 for a camper that is worth $15000 because water damage is not in our policy where is the logic in that when the only way we found it leaking was forgetting to close the sliders. From October til May my camper sat at my house because all the places said that they did not have room for my camper.
Every insurance company now handles water losses on a case by case basis. I am sorry that happened to you, but you can appeal with the company. You can also go to the insurance board of your state. If the insurance board sides with State Farm, they probably have a legitimate reason to decline the claim.
I am going through the same thing. I take excellent care of my camper. I pulled it out to use it and found that there was water damage inside on the walls and floor. I filed a claim with State Farm only to receive a call from a claims rep stating that they believed that the damage was a maintenance problem. State Farm had not even sent out a claims adjuster to look at the camper before they made the decision to decline my claim. I will say that my agent called me back after I blew a gasket with the claims rep and advised that he would have someone look at the camper before a decision is made.
