My husband and I visited the Steak 'N Shake in East Peoria, IL on 9/8/2018.
I had to asked the girl to set us down a table in the front of the business because she was going to take us to back the building. I ordered the Royal Double Steakburger / ff. My husband ordered the chili 5-way and a bowl of the vegetable soup. We were there at 4:00 p.m. and they werent't busy at all. It took approximately 30 minutes to get the food and I was very disappointed with the food. My burger was only warm and the french fries were cold. My husbands chili 5-way was mainly noodles and very little chilli.
I have had this meal many times and this was the worst that I have ever had. If the fries aren't cold then it seems that they reheat the cold ones. Our waitress was only at our table once before the food got there and then she never came back.

Is my first and last time in this establishment it the worst the table and the floors are very dirty and the service has been so much desapointed it the longest someone came to our table to the the Oder and. They were. Busy my daughter just wanted her shake and were waiting for 30 more min like they don't care about customer service the worst customer service ever I don't recommend.

Was hungry - visited your location at Touhy & Mannheim in Rosemont, IL and my receipt (which I left at home) said 6:05PM. The order kiosk was roped off and out of service with equipment strewn about, no signage, so I proceeded to the pick up window to order. After waiting almost a full ten minutes, a woman leaned out and politely asked - I requested a double burger with tomato, ketchup and onions. Then I asked her what beverages you have, and selected a small (Junior) Dr. Pepper. I think my bill was around $7.00.
I was going to continue home with it but hunger got the best of me and I pulled over in a grove of trees to enjoy my meal. I like your steakburgers although I don't often have fast food. Upon opening the paper in which it was wrapped, there was ketchup and cheese everywhere. The cheese, which I did not ask for, made me feel sick, which is probably why I never order cheeseburgers. Took two bites and had to throw it away because I found it tasted repulsive drowned in ketchup and smothered in cheese.
Waste of time and money.
Will you make good on that and keep a customer or not.
poor service
Went to dinner tonight. Order was very simple. When the waitress came with our meals, she had not brought 2 of the milkshakes that were ordered. When we asked about them, she said she had to go get them. It took almost to the end of the meal before she came back with 2 shakes. One was correct, the other was not. She did apologize, and said she would be right back. About another 10 minutes or so, she was clearing a table next to us, and we had to flag her down to get a to go box for my son and ask about the shake. At which point, we asked for a to go cup for that too. She had left the bill right away, and we noticed that she had not added in the 2 shakes that didn't come right away. The bill was right around $24. We had coupons to use. When we went up to pay, the coupons were not honored, and the bill ended up to be $29. There was no reason or explanation on it either. What a joke.
We have been to this establishment 3 times. And each of the 3 times I have gone, the service is poor, there is something wrong with our order, or just bad service.
3 strikes your out is my method. Unfortunately, I do not plan to go to steak n shake again.

The booth table was filthy, and they never offered to clean it.
No silverware - the manager said the dishwasher wasn't working properly. He eventually brought ONE fork for both of us to share.
No napkins - we asked for them multiple times until a couple in another booth shared a couple of their napkins with us.
My cup of vegetable soup was less than half filled. I asked for more soup to be added, and when the waitress brought it back, it had exactly two carrot slices and half a green bean and was at room temperature. The 'soup' tasted like dish water & was absolutely disgusting. I asked for it to be removed from our bill, and she complied.
Our waitress did not know the difference between oyster crackers and saltines. I asked for one and she brought the other.
This restaurant is completely understaffed AND undertrained. Please send someone from corporate to help them get it together, or you are going to lose a lot more customers.

This place is filthy. Showed up at 7:30pm on a Sunday (9/16/18) and there are very few customers and not a clean table in the place. We helped our server clean the table we sat at. In the hour we were there not one of the 3 servers cleaned a single table. It took 40 minutes to get our burgers (again, the place was almost empty), and our server checked on us once the entire time we were there. Food was cold when it arrived and instead of getting milkshakes for dessert as planned, we went to Sonic for milkshakes. This place needs a new manager and new employees. Worst service I've ever experience at a Steak n Shake. Shame on you, Antioch branch. Get your [censored] together.

Group of 6 of us waited about 2/4 mon6s to be seated someone seted us and left us w our menu then after 9 mins ( that I no of ) a very rude waitress came to take our order then we waited another 8 mins ( yes at this point I was watching the clock) before we asked another waiter for our drinks ... I also used the bathroom Durning this time which the manager was washing her hands in bathroom needed cleaned asap but I still haven't seen anyone go in there trash thurnout the store on the floor ... All this and we are still waiting on our food been 25 mins at this point

1 The facility is consistently dirty.

6 sat and waited for food for over 45 mins. Customers arriving after me received food before me.

9 tables not reset after customers leave nor wiped down till new customer is taken to table and then it is soaking wet!

As a person who recently moved to area where steak n shakes are at and recently started working for company. I have spent 20 years managing or owning corporate food restaurants. I just want to say working for steak n shake has been the worst and most horrible experience I've ever had at a job. Its nothing but slave labor without breaks. Managers lack leading skills. The district manager belittles everyone and has no people skills. Managers don't communicate with each other or respect employees. As a person with serious health issues and drs have given restrictions on what I can do. Managers ignore restrictions and continue to work me in hardest position forcing my medical issues to get worse. You all should be ashamed of how you conduct business and start respecting employees.

I'm writing about the Steak and Shake in Altamonte Springs Florida then general manager in this facility has a habit of handling money licking his fingers and touching food without gloves he also informs employees of washing mop heads in dishwashers instead of ordering new ones the cleanliness in the back of that facility isn't to par. I placed the complaint over the phone where in fact I gave my name and number and received the call from the general manager asking me not to complain to the Florida food agriculture why would corporate give him my information if that's who the complaint was about that's not a correct way of taking care of complaint they need to send the corporate employee to go check out the facility they have cameras why not go back on the cameras this place needs to be cleaned from the kitchen to management. So if an employees is not able to complain about things not being done right because the general manager tells them they can be replaced or Cuts their hours who should they complain too. Who allows a sink full of dishes long enough in the sink to grow maggots it's disturbing to hear he drops the utensils put them back without washing what managers teaching their servers and employees that it's okay not to wash your hands after using the bathroom or licking your fingers or messing with the trash someone needs to take care of this I will not stop until someone reads what I'm writing and goes into that facility to see for themselves employees hours have been cut because they speak up because they have been sick back to back something's not right two-day-old chili being served to customer slime nside cups customers have complained to managers they come to the tables and managers decide to show up in their pajamas and tell customers if they don't like it why do they come to that store if a customer is complaining that her lettuce is brown manager should just take care of it not telling customer why do they frequent here if they don't like the service you're in our community we live here our elderly and children eat here so if we don't speak up for them then who will something needs to be done they need to send an inspector. Why not investigate don't just go off on my word speak to your employees and read your reviews for that location it repeats a lot of the same thing it's very disappointing no one cares.

On September 15, 2018 at 3:00am my girlfriend and I went inside to eat at the 6575 ROSWELL rd Atlanta, GA location and were treated horribly. There were 3 women working and the male who was the manager. We walked in and no one said a word to us until we finally seated ourselves and a lady told us to move to the other side because she was going to mop there. So we moved and sat in our booth and waited for 7 minutes before we were acknowledged. The one server kept saying April would be serving us. Finally she came up and said "what you want." We ordered all at once while she was rolling her eyes. Oh and waiting 7 minutes to be askowledged while only one table was there in the whole place. We waited about 5 minutes for our drinks. About 15 for the food. All while these employees didn't say anything to us and would listen to our conversations and make comments to each other about what we said. We never once were asked for a refill nor anything extra. Never got the sauces we asked for and she was very rude when I asked for the check saying "awww can't stay longer with us?" I still tipped the lady 20% because I am not a rude person. So when it comes down to it, I'd like a superior or someone high up to contact me. I've never been treated like that ever in my life at a restaurant. We eat there multiple times a week. We will not go there and will write bad reviews unless someone contacts me. These employees should not work there anymore and I will make sure it's known how bad that location is.

drive thru attendant
Before I could place my order through the drive-through the window attendant had stopped me and said that it would be a 25 minute wait and I said it would be fine. I started to place my order and was going to ask for milkshake and she said that it would take longer because they were backed up I also said that it would be fine. before I can get to the window the person behind me got up to the box to order and she told them it would be a 45 minute wait by the time I got to the window it had been 8 minutes. when I got my food it was approximately 10 minutes. This window attendant was such in a hurry then when she started to hand my milkshake she had dropped it on its side and some of the whipped cream had Spilled Out which I didn't want whipped cream to start with but instead of making me a new milkshake she just handed me the original one which doesn't bother me what bothers me is that she didn't take initiative to change the milk shake and what bothers me also is that she was such in a hurry to leave I'm guessing that she didn't want to take anybody else's orders and lying about the wait time. This is not a way to conduct business and I would like a call from a manager to me about this.

poor service
Was at your Old Fort Blvd, Murfreesboro location for lunch. The server Savannah took our order but never brought us any silverware to eat it with. Or did she provide us any napkins to wipe our fingers off with. We order 2 Caramel Apple Milkshakes but never received any straws to drink it with.
So we had to eat with our fingers, drink our milkshakes with a spoon.
When a manager asked if everything was OK. I asked for 2 to-go cups which he brought but SOB did not give us any straws OR any lids for the cups! What was I supposed to drink the milkshake with?
I paid for the meal but the cashier kept the receipt. How in god's name was I suppose to relay the transaction number, store number without the receipt.
So...you deliberately give me poor service, without proper eating utensils then keep the receipt with all the proper documentation? I sure as hell hope you don't expect a good rating from me. I have ate there before and NEVER WAS TREATED LIKE TRASH BEFORE! On a star rating of 1 to 5 I GIVE YOUR ESTABLISHMENT A RATING OF MINUS 10!

This is the first time in my life I have ever written to any place about poor service. I just never go back to the place if things were very wrong but I really love going to steak 'n shake and would hate to stop going.
Here is what happened yesterday september 13 2018.
Not expecting poor service I did not start to record things right away.
At approximately 5:16 I entered the store and stood next to the register at the order area.
Nobody notice I was standing there for about 5 or 6 minutes, then the grill man shouted to some one near the milk shake making area that I was waiting. After another 5 or 6 minutes that grill man took off his gloves and came to assist me. It was now 5:26.
I ordered 2 hershey special dark chocolate shakes like I always do.
Since I was taking them home I requested no whip cream and no cherry and flat lids.
During my entire time there only one person entered or left the store and that was a ups man that only used the restroom and then left.
As you can see, if you look at the register information no one paid between the time I came in and the time I left which was 5:38 when my 2 shakes were finally given to me.
I was there from 5:16 until 5:38 for 2 carry out shakes. I can understand slow service when it is busy or when the place is understaffed, but there was only two tables being occupied and there was one tall gentleman serving those customers and there was at least 5 people working the kitchen area. 2 were working around the grill, one was working the drive area, one was making shakes and there was one short woman but I was not sure what she was doing.
Then I get home and not only was there no semi sweet morsels in my shakes but the the shakes were not as chocolate as they usually are using the hershey semi sweet syrup.

Visited cattleman location in Sarasota FL on 9/13/18 at 9:23 pm. We were the only vehicle in drive thru. We placed our order, paid and were asked to pull forward and our food would be run out to us shortly. 26 minutes later a gentleman donning a hair net finally brought our "food" to us. We did not receive one of the orders of shoestring fries and the ones we did get were greasy and soggy and maybe room temperature. All the burgers looked like someone stepped on them, completely smashed, one burger had about a 1/4 cup of mustard oozing out of it and the entirety of the meal was so saturated in grease you could have rang it out and cooked the fries in it. Very disappointing especially after the 26 minute wait.
free birthday reward
Hello,
I am writing this complaint because I never received my birthday reward on 7/14/18. I made contact with customer service around 7/15 or 16 of that month and was told it would be taken care of. I waited and nothing happened so I reached out to them again a few weeks ago and was told by the end of the week my reward would be in my e-mail, I have yet to receive anything and it's been almost two months. I and my children love to eat at your restaurant (We went there for my birthday) and always find it a treat. I am disappointed that it is taking so long for me to receive my birthday reward... I feel like I'm just being dismissed and run in circles.

oreo milkshake
I received an Oreo milkshake that taste like it had been burnt... weird right? It's a milkshake... it tastes like i ate someone's dead ashes. Either they need to clean their machine or stop poisoning the milkshakes. My chunks of Oreo tasted like burn charcoal and the cherry on top was the about 1/4 the size of an actual cherry and that also tasted burnt.

Been eating Steak & Shake since 1955, first in St. Louis and now in Florida from 1980 until now, Used to be our hangout in high school . Eat there at least once a week. That's a lot of double cheese burgers, I'm an expert. You ruined the burgers with the new buns "hate them", please bring back the old ones. When It's perfect who's the new person that wanted to change what was perfect. Grew up on the "hill" in St.Louis, grandparents had the first Italian restaurants in St. Louis pre world war 11. I'm a chef and own restaurants.
chili mac supreme
Steak n Shake west Washington street and Holt Road in Indianapolis, IN, once again, on my way to work, go thru the drive thru and order a chili mac supreme, get to work, don't get to eat lunch til 7pm, open it up and all thats on it is maybe a couple pieces of meat, a dabble of cheese and that it! Its disgusting. I have never in my life had such a nasty so called lunch in my life, there is no where else around here to eat. So you guys have lost a very loyal customer, I have submitted numerous complaints about this place and nothing has ever been done about it so apparently I'm probably still wasting my breath.
