Upcharge for Roadside Assistance/Insurance
My wife used an online booking agency to book a car with Thrifty. I picked up the car in Detroit Airport on 8/26/2021. I was not given any paperwork at all, I was only asked to sign the electronic keypad. I asked for the rental agreement and was told that it would be emailed to me. The lady behind the desk told me which parking slot to head to. Once I made it to the car I noticed a lot of nicks and scratches on the car. I flagged down a person working on the lot and asked him how to record this since I was not given any paperwork. That person went to the station and returned with a blank incident form and that is the only paperwork that I used when I drove away. The rental was uneventful. When I received my credit card I saw the charge. I called Thrifty and was given an email with a 7 page agreement that had my signature on page 7 and the charges on page 1. Of course the lady at the rental desk only presented me with page 7 at the time when I signed. If the charges was near the signature box on the display screen or if I was given a paper copy of the agreement I would have been able to clearly see the charges. Now the Customer Service Team at Thrifty is not budging from their stand of the cost of the upcharges.
Desired outcome: Reserves the charges which by the way are greater than the total cost of the car rental.
False billing
I rented a car from Thrifty Pearson Airport in Toronto on the 24th of July 2021 till the 13th of September 2021 but I was surprised that I was overcharged on my card with an amount of 8700 canadian dollars. I delivered the car with a full tank Abd as received. As agreed with them, I had to call after one month to extend and I did in the 24th of August . I was surprised that extra charges appeared on my card that was already deducted and leaving me with the problem to pay the bank for the charges that occurred with the false billing of thrifty.
Desired outcome: Refund the false charges
Roadside assistance
We picked our car up at around 12.30am left the airport to travel to our final destination. But half way there the car refused to restart with the lights flashing about the radiator overheating. We then spent a number of hours searching online for any sort of 24 hour number linked to thrifty but could find none. There was only 1 number for roadside assistance and this was not 24 hour so we were stranded in the middle of Malta in the middle of the night with no assistance from thrifty who had given us a faulty car. We paid an extensive amount of money for super cover yet we were given no help.

Desired outcome: Refund

This is my official statement in regards to thrifty car rental charge of $1044.10.
We have filed a dispute with our CC company since nobody can seem to call us back to get a resolution.
To validate this statement we have our call log showing when we called Thrifty, how many times we called Thrifty and thrifty calling us back, timestamps can confirm we were in contact with thrifty and length of call on the log can prove we didn't just call and hang up, we spoke to people to figure out what the process was for reporting an accident and getting a tow and Lyft. We have a police report and contacts a Florida highway patrol as to who was there, road rangers, and which officer with a case number.
On July 29th approx. 5:30 PM EST we were in an accident in a white Kia, plate 8LCM468. We imminently called Thrifty/Hertz to ask what to do. Our call logs for this first call says 38 min. During that call, the thrifty/hertz rep told us we MUST call the police, file a report, and thrifty would get the car towed and reimburse us for our lyft. During this time, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) was very short staffed so we were on the side of the road for 7+ hours waiting for FHP to meet us and write a statement because Thrifty told us that we need to do that. During that time we had road rangers with us during the wait, when the officer arrived and waiting for the tow.
Once the officer arrived, we had him write up a statement and he provided a case number, please see attachments. The office explained to us that he cannot leave nor can the road ranger until the car was picked up since it was an accident, so at some point (which we aren't aware of because we were told a tow was in place by thrifty) the car was picked up early morning 7/30/21. When I called Thrifty today (9/2/2021) they explained that they see the record of Thrifty calling Geico to tow the car but no record of time, who, when, where, and same for drop off, which makes no sense to us.
Fast forward - we call Thrifty numerous times to see if the car was dropped off, they don't know, they can't see that information and they would put a request to close the ticket but nobody called us back, I had to keep reaching out. I get a letter 8/6 in the mail with a date of 8/3 saying the car wasn't in their possession, to which I reached out and they stated "oh, we have the car as of 8/6, it was dropped of by the tow company", which to my surprise is odd since it was picked up 7/29 or 7/30 per their request.
As you can see, I did everything requested of me, and to think Thrifty is trying to charge me extra for the car for XX amount of days even though Thrifty called the tow company and what they did with the car for those XX is not my responsibility, Thrifty has notes detailing when we called to report the accident, stating the car wasn't driveable, the office stated that as well, and the tow request, so why would Thrifty charge us.
Please see the attachments.

Desired outcome: Refund for $1044.10 and reimbursement of lyft ride we were promise would happen
Look at that, nothing still.
Two administrative and toll fees
We paid our first fine and money we owed for tolls on a trip in August in Wisconsin. THen we received another one for $9 worth of tolls and then an administrative fee of $60. We were not told how to handle tolls and saw signs of the road being "toll free" during that time. What is the story? Why are we being charged twice for tolls between Chicago and Milwaukee?

ldw/cdw on my rental car
on march 12, 2021, i rented a car from thrifty rent a car at chicago ohare airport. i had made and prepaid the reservation with priceline. when i returned home to tucson, i discovered i had been charged $169 for cdw and ldw, which i never accepted. i have contacted thrifty repeatedly but have had no satisfaction. my rental agreement number is [protected].
Desired outcome: refund of $169.
Car Rental
I booked a Thrifty car using Economy Bookings...the rental was prepaid.
I picked up the car July 24, and was to return July 31 to same Love Field location. I returned the car early, the evening of July 30 to that location.
I began getting calls from Hertz Car Control that the car was not returned.
I finally got thru to a person, and then also spoke with someone directly at Thrifty.
Subsequently I got a receipt showing the car was returned late and to a location in SAN ANTONIO! I have reported to the credit card company as fraud and have closed the account.
We have a similar issue with them and towing our car through them and claiming we didn't return it for 6 more days and we were charged that, how is that even possible OR FAIR.
Car Rental Services
I booked car rental through Expedia with thrifty car rental. Immediately after booking I realized I had wrong dates so I called an they refunded in 24 hrs I then rebooked with correct dates. Upon arriving the day to pick vehicle up I had paid $377 so then they told me I needed to pay $500 more due to the fact I used my debit card instead of a credit card! So I then told them to forget it! After leaving I called Expedia to refund but they said I had to wait for them to cancel. Later I got a email saying it was no refundable! I will never book with them again $377 I just gave them for nothing! Very disappointing an very nonprofessional
Desired outcome: No refund when it debited from my account
Car rental
Flew into DCA and had a thrifty car rental already reserved. When I got to the car rental area of the airport by shuttle, the line was the only one in the entire area. Again thrifty is the only one that has a line. Hertz, dollar and budget have no one waiting. There are 20 people in front of me. And many waiting. The people waiting after check-in were told they have at least a 45 minute wait after check in. This is a mess and needs to be rectified immediately.
Desired outcome: Money returned
Fuel charge
Was charged beforehand for fuel but the agent informed me if I returned with a full tank that charge would be dropped. I filled the tank at the airport and still charged for fuel. I emailed the company and waited for 9 days for them to finally call, when they did they said I signed knowing I would be charged and not reimbursed. If I knew I wouldn't be reimbursed I wouldn't have returned the car with a full tank. This company is going to lose all my future business over less than $100
Desired outcome: Refund my precharge
Overcharged on Rental Rate
I made a reservation through Southwest for a rental car with Thrifty for April 12-16th 2021 at a rate of $48/day with a total estimated cost of $303.49 after taxes & fees. I picked up and returned the car without issue. At return, I asked for a receipt and was told it would be emailed. I was never emailed the receipt, but my credit card was charged for $1, 276.64. Upon requesting a receipt, I was charged a rate of $235/day. I've called, filed an online complaint, contacted them through social media and have never received an explanation of the rate difference. I also filed a dispute with my credit card company who sided in my favor and refunded the disputed amount. However, Thrifty is now sending invoices for the amount in question with threats to send it to collections.
Worst Experience with Any Company, Ever. Unethical and Unconscionable Business Practices
I have been battling with Thrifty since May 4, 2021, when I returned the vehicle I made the huge mistake of renting from them. I returned it on the day and at the time listed in the original reservation to the same location I rented it from. I currently have 73 pages of documentation concerning my complaint and unacceptable/unethical treatment by this company. The employees at the Orlando International Airport location did not close out the rental and "lost" the car for over two weeks, upon my returning it. I received incessant robocalls, texts, emails and a threatening letter, telling me Thrifty was going to report me to the police for stealing the vehicle. They accused me of committing a FELONY with no proof and ZERO INVESTIGATION! Luckily, I had already reported the incident to the police because after calling customer service seven times, and having them send seven requests to the airport location to close out the vehicle, (this was confirmed by someone I spoke with in vehicle operations) it still was not done. Once the police got involved they "mysteriously" found the car, but only after the employees at the airport location putting the officer off for another 24 hours. It was quite obvious that once the police officer went to the location and began investigating, they were stonewalling him for some reason. Common sense dictates they had to buy some time, in order to notify the person who had the car to bring it back, once the police became involved. Someone finally closed out the rental on May 26th. I then received a charge on my credit card for over $1300 for the time between when I returned it and when they closed it out. I was forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in order to get the charge credited back to my credit card. Once that was done, they then sent me a bill for tolls. The total bill was $149.85 after all the admin. fees were added, but apparently, because of the 2018 legal action taken by the state of FL, they "credited" me $59.94 as an "admin fee discount amount, " bringing the bill down to $113.12. Apparently, the discount is supposed to make me feel better about the unethical, most likely criminal, price gouging and horrendous business practices of this company. The toll bill indicates that the rental period was from 4-27-21 to 5-26-21 which is not accurate. The rental period was from 4-27-21 to 5-4-21. This new bill, with the unconscionable administrative fees has forced me to file a second complaint, because they refused to deal with it in the original BBB complaint. It should be noted that I took my own Speedpass transponder and used that during my trip, so I should not be receiving a bill for tolls at all. However, they charged me for some of the tolls anyway. If it was just the tolls being charged, I probably would have just paid it, because they only added up to $23.00 and I understand that those roadways may not have been covered by my speedpass. However, because this company has treated me with such blatant disregard, accused me of committing a felony, and has refused at every to help me, I, in turn, refuse to give them another dime of my money unless I know that I truly do owe it to them. They have proven themselves so untrustworthy that I will not let up until I get truthful answers-answers that EVERY consumer deserves. The main reason I am filing this complaint is that they are now charging me a $9.99 administrative fee PER TOLL, on top of the toll amount. Every other rental agency I have ever used charges an admin fee per day, no matter how many tolls you go though in a 24 hour period-not PER TOLL! Thrifty's business practices are completely unethical and there needs to be a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of all the customers they have screwed. Apparently, the legal action that that the State of FL took against Thrifty in August of 2018 didn't phase them, as they are still up to their very unethical practices. There are hundreds of complaints on the internet about false and inflated charges to customers credit cards after the vehicles are returned. Many people have complained about charges for gas being applied to their credit cards, when they returned it with a full tank, charges for tolls and fines they did not amass, the exorbitant and unethical $9.99 fee per toll they are charging and damage to vehicles that the renters were not responsible for. There is even a few complaints, in addition to mine, by customers who returned the vehicle and yet the rental did not get closed out. There is now MORE THAN ENOUGH evidence for a criminal investigation to be initiated into this company's business practices. It was confirmed to me by law enforcement that at some locations, the vehicles are purposely not being checked back in, employees are then renting those vehicles out on the side to make extra money, and they are being returned with empty gas tanks, damage and tolls are being amassed by the fraudulent renter. These charges are then being passed on to the last listed renter. I MADE THRIFTY AWARE OF THIS INFORMATION in my complaints to them through their corporate email, and all the people I dealt with to try to rectify my situation. I put it in my BBB complaint as well. NO ONE HAS RESPONDED to me about these allegations. Heck, they haven't even told me the car was found yet! If it wasn't for the police calling me to let me know, I'd still be wondering I guess. During my original problem, I asked every single person I dealt with at Thrifty to review the video in the garage at the time I returned the vehicle, and they would see me exit the vehicle, remove my suit cases from the trunk, talk with the Thrifty employee and then leave the area. Not one person did what I requested in an effort to rectify this situation. Had they done what I suggested, my issue could have been rectified within 24 hours of my first phone call to them. Yet, they continued to charge my credit card every day for another day's rental. Once they realized that they could not charge me the $1300+ for the time they lost the vehicle, they then slammed me with these bogus toll administrative fees. I will be calling the FL Attorney General's Office in addition to my filing this complaint. What has happened to me and hundreds of other consumers is unacceptable and can no longer be tolerated.
Desired outcome: DO NOT bill my credit card for any of these outrageous admin fees for tolls
Pre-paid Voucher Dispute
On 23rd January, 2020, I purchased a Voucher, in the amount of $604.12, from Thrifty Car Rental, Lynden Pindling International Airport, Nassau, Bahamas, in payment of a rental vehicle from Thrifty Car Rental, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Airport, for the period 22nd-29th March, 2020. (Voucher Ref. No. 14517 Confirmation J2851733573).
Unfortunately, COVID-19 pandemic came, and my trip had to be cancelled.
I called Thrifty's Office, where I purchased the Voucher, a few days later, regarding the situation, and was told that no decision had been taken, at that time, regarding vouchers, and that I should call back at a later time.
I called back some time later, and was given the same answer.
I called back a few weeks ago, and was told that Thrifty was no longer honoring the voucher.
I was most disappointed to here this, because I am cancer patient, retired, and need to travel to my appointment at The Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida, in July. $604.12 is a lot of mone for me to loose this way, and especially, at this time.
I will require a vehicle for 2 weeks, while I attend the Cleveland Clinic, and request that consideration be given for a re-instatement of the voucher, or, credit be given for its value.
I would, therefore, be grateful for your assistance in this matter, and look forward to your favorable reply.
Kind regards

Admin fee for tolls
We rented a car from Thrifty for travel in AZ and Colorado. When we rented the car, the agent never asked us if we would be going through any tolls so I assumed there were no toll roads where we were traveling-my assumption was correct, except for our trip to Denver airport. These were drive thru tolls with no booths to pay anyone. The weird thing too is we received 4 toll charges from 10:42am to 11:05am totaling $15.30 and then on top of that we were charge $60 in admin fees-that is excessive, which is an additional 300% over the cost of the tolls-Why would there be a fee for each toll? I would like Thrifty to credit back $45.00 worth of admin fees. I will send in a check for $30.30-please confirm this has been done-I gave your company an excellent review, but now I feel I should change it-please respond.
Desired outcome: $45.00 credit for excessive fees
The same thing happened to me on a recent trip to Ft Lauderdale. I was charged $9.99 fee for each toll totaling $89.99. I’m sure that this is stated in fine print in the rental agreement but it is dishonest and unethical !
I have never had this happen to me with any other company unless this is the new normal as a result of COVID.
Overcharged, changed contract rate after signed contract
I rented a car with Thrifty and according to my receipt, the rate increased AFTER my contract was signed.
1/16/21
• Arrived at HNL (Honolulu Airport)
• Picked up prepaid rental (paid $147.13 on Expedia) at Thrifty on North Nimitz Hwy
• Prepaid contract was for 1/16 - 1/23.
1/23/21
• I exchanged the car at Thrifty with a new reservation until 3/8/21
• Contract rate $100/week, $13.99/extra day, estimated charges $1216.58
3/8/21
• I contacted Thrifty to extend reservation until 3/17/21
• I was assured that rate would be extended as well ($100/week, $13.99/day)
3/17/21
• Car was returned, was told final receipt is available on-line
• My card was charged $4173.18
• Rate increased from $100/week to $460/week, $13.99/day to $74/day AFTER I returned the car
I have stayed on hold with thrifty many times for over 40 minutes. The two times I was actually connected to an agent, I was disconnected after I was told that they are "looking into it". I have contacted Thrifty 5 times via their website and have received no answer. I have a PDF of all supporting documentation.
I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. I have filed a complaint with BBB. I am at a loss as to how to proceed. Thank you

False charge of $155 for body damage on my return car
I picked up my first car on 4/22/21 at the ft lauderdale location, you just go to your catagory and pick out car no rep with you. During the next 5 days I drovemy family to melbourne to meet a realtor and I was told by the gas station about a bubble in the front tire. We then searched out a thrifty location in melbourne that was at the airport. We drove to the airport and the rep at the desk said she cant help and go to hertz counter then walked away, the hertz people said they cant help and I should go to the hertz corporate location several miles away nowi lost a half a day and missed my appt with my realtor. Jennifer at the corporate office switch the car, we had to unload the luggage. The car had 29000 miles and was fine. When I returned the car to the thrifty location in melbourne I was told just to park over there and we will e mail statement which I did. There was no shuttle to my terminal and I had to walk. When I received my statement there was a fraudent charge of $155 for body damage with no explanation. I have triued for 3 days to reach out but cant get through and no one answers my complaint.
