Thrifty Rent A Car My refund deposit

I hired a car on the 1st of January 2023 to the 5th of January 2023. However I extended my rental
Every day I was making the payment every day as well. I returned the car on the 15 January 2023. Now they are telling me that there is an outstanding rental
Of r1300 and I have been inquiring about it for
5 days now and no one is giving an answer. Please help!

Thrifty Rent A Car Toll admin fee

I rented a car for 1 day at the JFK airport where I was told I do not need the toll transponder (obviously taking advantage of a foreigner). Driving to Boston and back I was recently charged months later 90 USD for admin fees on tolls in sum 33.34 USD. Nobody has explained that at the counter but most importantly it is nowhere in my contract signed with Thrifty via RentalCars.

Totally unethical, far from good practice.

Thrifty Rent A Car Fraud: (car rental) for reversal of my deposit amount that I paid when I rented the Car

On the 8th of december 2022, I rented a car from thrifty at east london airport. I returned the motor - vehicle on the 12th of december 2022. When days passed without the deposit payout. I inquired and was informed that it takes 14 working days.

On the 8th of january, I noted an email that reflects an amount of r2763.43 which is however reversed. When I endeavor to reconcile that with my account it becomes irreconcilable as payments of the amount mentioned above do not reflect on my statement.

So an impression is created that payments have been made whereas in truth no monies are made permanently to my account. Fraud is a result of misrepresentation that is created.

May you kindly investigate this misdemeanor/offense and revert back to me asap? [protected] email:[protected]@yahoo.com

Thrifty Rent A Car Overcharged on a rental car

I rented a vehicle through a third party website called Hopper on 11/17/2022 the total amount charged for that was 229 10 this covered the complete and total Car Rental for the entire time that it was needed when I showed up to the car dealership after a long flight around midnight and waiting 2 to 3 hours to get to the counter to speak to someone I was informed that I would need to get insurance after I spoke with the woman and told her that I did not need the insurance that I contacted my insurance carrier before I left town and it covered the car rental she informed me that because I was going to Kern County she was going to have to charge me for car insurance no matter what and I wouldn't be able to get the car rental unless I agreed and signed the paper to get out the door being as it was 2:30 in the morning and I still had a two and a half three hour drive ahead of me I went ahead and agreed and signed the papers to get out the door I felt forced into doing this I knew I didn't need the car insurance so now I've been charged another 67911 making the total for a car rental for 5 days a total of $908.21 quite the leap from $210 which is what I originally paid and thought that I was going to get out the door with I've tried speaking to Representatives through Thrifty I've contacted an 800 number I cannot get through to anybody nobody is willing to help me I am at my wit's end with this and I need someone to assist me with this problem it is irresponsible of your company to inform me that I am unable to rent the car unless I receive insurance through the car rental company when I've already spoken with my insurance company and I've been told the opposite it's not okay to do that to someone when they've been on a flight and it's now 2:00 in the morning and they still have a 3-hour drive ahead of them I would really appreciate it if someone would take this seriously and give me some help because my next step is the Better Business Bureau I hate to do that but I just feel like I'm not being taken seriously

Thrifty Rent A Car Bait and switch on existing reservations

I booked a rental for a vehicle that seats 7 (the reservation said pathfinder) for

$456 (including all fees) for the 10 day rental. However, when we arrived at the Sacramento Airport Thrifty Car rental, the Thrifty rep told us that they didn't have our car but we could upgrade to a minivan. She told us we had to insert our credit card in the machine in order to tell us the price. She first said we could upgrade to a minivan that would normally be $300 to $500 per day for a total of $6000 but she would give it to us for only five hundred more than our original estimate. When I said no, she said she would upgrade us for $275 plus fees more than our existing contract stated.

She also said that the original $456 cost on our reservation did not include the NEW airport fee ($60 more). This is clearly a bait & switch scam. We were not the only ones at the Thrifty desk getting this bait and switch treatment. We felt conned into taking a minivan for $336 more than our reservation cost (we already booked a car for 7 people).

Is this THRIFTY policy or just the SMF THRIFTY?

Desired outcome: I would like a refund of $336 - the difference between our original contract ($456) and the cost that we were scammed into taking (what she claimed was and upgrade at $792).

Thrifty Rent A Car Being charged for damaging rental car without any proof provided

rented a car out of Cleveland OH 8/11 to 8/17/2022. Received a bill form Thrity Car Rental for $175 claiming we damaged the rental car. No proof or pictures provided. We ignored thinking it might be a scam. Bill was passed over to Viking collections so we decided to pay to avoid any damage to our credit score. I'm asking for proof of damage, time stamped photos, anything to prove we damaged this car. If proof can't be provided I want my $175 back. So far Thrifty hasn't done anything other then tell me I can rent from them again now

Por este medio informo sobre el inaceptable e irrespetuoso servicio recibido por su empresa Thrifty en Orlando Florida (MCO Orlando International Airport ), e interpongo

formal reclamo y restitución de daños .

HECHOS

Hice una reservación a traves de expedia y la pague. Al llegar al counter me cobraron 263.93 adicionales de los cuales yo acepte el cargo por la gasolina y tolls. Desde ese momento ya se presento el primer problema que no esperaba ya que lo llevaba prepagado. ya había pagado $214.75 (adjunto factura y pago a expedia).

El desastre empezó al recoger el vehículo. Estuve en fila dos horas de las 12.30 hasta pasadas las 2.30 am. La fila era enorme y solo 3 personas atendiendo. Los clientes empezaron a quejarse pero a nadie le importaba. (Adjunto contrato donde consta la hora)

Cuando fui a recoger el vehículo me dieron que no tenían el que yo había reservado y me dieron una camioneta muy grande e incomoda para mis propósitos. Sin embargo la acepte porque no tenia opción a esa hora.(adjunto foto de mi reservacion)

Al día siguiente con pocos kilometros recorridos, al carro se le encendió la luz de motor recalentado. Nos detuvimos y llamamos a servicio de thrifty. Recibimos el peor servicio inmaginable:

Logramos comunicarnos a un call center a las 8.04 pm. Les dijimos que estábamos solas dos mujeres en un parqueo desconocido y oscuro.

Solicitamos el reemplazo del carro y nos dijeron que No. Que para eso primero teníamos que esperar la grúa y luego irnos a traer otro carro al aeropuerto.

Con mucho temor nos movimos al parqueo de Disney Springs pues donde estábamos era oscuro y desconocido.

Solicitamos nuevamente la grúa para las 11 pm y nos dijeron que no sabían ni que compañía de grúas iría ni la hora .

Como somos turista con telefono internacional dijeron que no se podia contactar con nosotros. Y nos dieron numero de claim [protected]

Finalmente pedimos el telefono del chofer de la grúa ( nos dieron [protected]) nos comunicamos con el quien nos dijo que nos fuéramos y que dejáramos el carro ahi abierto y con la llave debajo del mat. Que ellos pasarían después.

Esto nos pareció muy poco profesional y riesgozo, por lo que se lo comunicamos a . Thrifty quien nos confirmo que ese procedimiento lo hacían con frecuencia. Nos mandaron un lift que nos llevo al aeropuerto.

Ahi finalmente a las 00.14 de la madrugada nos dieron el carro y regresamos el hotel a las 2 am habiendo perdido toda la noche en esto.

Adicionalmente nunca logramos que nos dieran un telefono para estar en contacto. Todo lo tuvimos que hacer por el call center y pagar nuestras llamadas ( adjunto detalle de las 22 llamadas realizadas ).

EFECTOS

Esta actitud de Thrifty y sus empleados, de dejarme sin asistencia en peligro de cualquier situación en horas de la noche y de la madrugada es inexcusable y nos causo graves molestias y angustias a mi y a mi mama de (66 anos que me acompañaba). Ademas nos hicieron perder el tiempo y nos provocaron alteración de nuestros planes de vacaciones.

DERECHO / SOLICITUD - PETITORIA

Con base en todo lo anterior exijo la devolución de mi dinero y la disculpa de la empresa por la falta de atención y exponernos a peligros tanto generados por un carro desperfecto como por el abandono completo en el que nos dejaron con el problema en un país extranjero expuestas en altas horas de la noche.

Thrifty Rent A Car Recent rental

Rented a car at Atlanta airport on Tuesday 14 November

Drove 60 miles to Cumming Ga

The next day car wouldn’t start customer service sent triple a out to tell me battery was dead and because it was a rental they couldn’t help

Called back to customer service who stated only thing we could do was to return car to airport for a exchange mind u this is around 5pm day before Thanksgiving and I’m unable to drive at night

They suggested on thanksgiving am they send tow truck to return car

Day 3 we took a Uber to dinner location at 2pm still with no resolution later called to thrifty they say nothing open today to replace battery but suggested and gave us location to go to on day 4 of rental

Day 4 have early am doctors appointment but woke up neighbors for jumping of battery and went to location of auto zone that your representative directed us to as she told us they would give credit card purchases over the phone … just call when u get there so that’s exactly what we did have them case number left car running and customer service back tracked and say needed to return car to airport for exchange

Guess people don’t realize how dangerous this would be with the new technology that basically shuts down the car at any stop and uses the battery to start back up

So had 2 phones calling at once and finally management gave authorization to manager at auto zone to put new battery in the car

Was able to make doctors appointment so was a good thing it only took 1.5 hours to resolve the issue

Because our holidays was ruined we returned car one day early before anything else could go wrong

We paid 441$ to use car for 2 days so currently have disputed all charges related to rental until we can come to agreement with thrifty as to what would be appropriate.

This Nissan a 2020 with 56k miles oil change was supposed to be done at 47k miles according to records or April 2022 so not sure what else wasn’t done on this poor vehicle

Would love to talk with someone regarding our dispute

Thrifty Rent A Car Administrative fees for Tolls

On 10/05/22 I rented a car from Thrifty Car Rental at Raleigh Durham airport. At the time of rental, I was never told there would be administrative fees associated with tolls. I drove on a toll road for 5 minutes and have been charged $60.00 in administrative fees. The actual tolls are $4.31. I was charged $15.00 administrative fee every time I passed an exit. 4 exits in 5 minutes. Seems like excessive price gouging and taking advantage of an elderly person from out of state.

Desired outcome: Remove administrative fees, I will gladly pay the actual tolls.

Thrifty Rent A Car unauthorised credit card charges

confirmation number K1222237957

As recommended by Thrifty I enrolled to pay tolls for this rental through Linkt - a flawed system which other rental companies manage differently. and which charged me for additional tolls on my rental registration 565DV9

Further to that I've been charged an additional $48 on my credit card with no explanation from thrifty.

Please explain what this is, if tolls I've been double charged and want this refunded

Thrifty Rent A Car toll charge # [protected]

I received this invoice to pay a 1.49 toll charge with a 15.00 admin fee. I rented vehicle for 2 days, not intending to use any toll roads. I do not recall ever being on toll road, I am not from this area. I also paid an additional 50.00 gas fee at time of purchase that counter agent said what over is not used from the 50 dollar gas prepay, it will be returned to me. I reality, I brought the vehicle back with just above a half of tank. I assume I used 6-7 gallons. but they charged me 7+ dollars a gallon.

Desired outcome: cut your losses and the remainder you owe me on the fuel prepay will cover this toll bill.

Thrifty Rent A Car Fraud, unethical behavior towards a customer (lying), price gouging, senior citizen's abuse

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to the unfair treatment of Thrifty Car Rental Company. How they have overcharged me with no proof and price gauging. This is a case of taking advantage of a Senior Citizen and they literally lied and changed their stories with not one shred of evidence. I wrote two separate Customer Complaint with two different stories on 7/1/2022 & 7/10/2022. This was NEVER told to me when I was charged with the bill. Both emails are enclosed. No pictures, nothing.

Even the Collection Agency Joseph, Mann and Creed never mentioned these allegations. Or finding cigarette but in the car. There was not a claim of either of us seen smoking as we were leaving the exit gate. They could not answer my questions and accused me of closing my credit card account. My bank sided with me and stopped payment. They thought Thrifty was not being honest. They encouraged me to reach out to them and try to settle it. They would not communicate with me or my wife. They kept saying the charges stick. Yet every time I asked for evidence, they had none.

My wife or I don’t smoke. When we dropped off the car, no one checked it in. We had a 5:15am flight back to Detroit, MI. We only drove the car 16 miles to the hotel and back to the Thrifty Rental Terminal with a full tank. We can’t even defend ourselves. They accused us of stealing a key fob at first. The original charges were $937.61. They finally took that off. We asked the shuttle driver where to leave the keys. But we are stuck with the $400.00 smoking charge with NO evidence.

These allegations just came in the two emails dated 9/2/2022 and 9/7/2022.

I have two emails, the first one said they found a cigarette in the car. The second one said I was seen smoking at the exit gate. WOW! Different stories in a couple days, no pictures, no witnesses. They are making this up. Why was this NEVER mentioned when we called numerous times inquiring for proof? Which you still haven’t provided.

I’m now in Collections with the above agency. Put a mark on my credit and on the do not rent list with Hertz, Thrifty, and Dollar. Can they just charge someone and get away with it? This is just a case of FRAUD and taking advantage of the Senior Citizens.

I worked for Chrysler Engineering for 42 years. Our company always used Thrifty for traveling. That was my first choice when we decided to rent a car. Your unethical business practices and the way we were treated has changed my mind. Your customer service is something you need to work on.

I would like an apology and have all charges removed for lying about me. Take my name off the do not rent list and remove the mark off my credit. Remove me from Joseph Mann & Creed Collections immediately. Your behavior was unprofessional.

The 2nd copy is dated 9/7/2022. This one stated I was smoking at the exit gate. They never replied or gave a reason for the two different stories. I also asked for a receipt for the previous person who rented the car.

This is totally ridiculous. This is completely made up and want to be vindicated of all charges.

Desired outcome: Apology. Taken out of Collections. Removed off the Credit Bureau's. Put on the list to rent from Hertz, Thrifty and Dollar. All in writing.

Can a class action lawsuit be brought against Thrifty? It seems you have plenty of people in the same boat.

I just received 3 bills for tolls that appeared to total $41 for tolls and $90 in administrative fees. A toll fee of $6 is charge $15 admin fees to Thrift. That changed each $6 toll to $21. I was told by the check-in clerk that he was setting me up with the best value for toll charges.

Upon closer look, they sent me 3 bills that look like I owe $141 total but they are listing the same tolls, adding a new one to each bill. (Bill #1 - $26, #2 - $47, #3 - $68) I wonder how many naive people (like myself at 70 years of age) would pay the $141 when it should only be $68. Still, the $15 admin fee per $6 toll is ridiculous and needs to be clearly explained and on the contract.

Thrifty Rent A Car Exorbitant admin fee for tolls in Florida

I'm jumping on the bandwagon with a complaint against thrifty's anti-consumer toll fees. I somehow missed a series of 4 tolls on my trip from Naples, FL to Miami Fl a month ago. I recently received a letter from Thrifty charging me a $15 admin fee for each of the tolls I passed through with my vehicle, resulting in a $60 admin fee for missing $8 of road tolls. This was ludicrous to me, so I wrote to the address provided in the letter and received an 'offer' that they would cut the admin fee to $30 instead of $60. As if they were doing me a great favor. I proceeded to look into whether this was a complete scam, rather than just highway robbery (no pun intended) because the email address of the contact at thrifty didn't match to a thrifty.com email (It was [protected]@atsol.com) instead. I then proceeded to Google around and found this forum, where I'm lodging this complaint. In an age of social media, it's absurd to me that @thrifty attempts to extort this unusually disproportionate fine to consumers. During the rental process, I wasn't alerted about pre-paying tolls nor did I see how I was passing through four toll booths on a short 100 mile trip. Alas, I'm piling on and will write the CEO to express my dissatisfaction and commitment to not patronize Thrifty in the future. What rats! - William It Was Really Nothing

Desired outcome: Make penalty proportional to the toll expense. I'm happy to pay the toll fee with a small admin fee to cover the costs of processing the fee, but not going to pay $30 for an $8 toll.

Thrifty Rent A Car Administrative Fees on Tolls

I rented a car from Thrifty Rental car in West Palm Beach. I drove that car to Universal Studios in Orlando. The family member I was visiting and going to Orlando with, went to the Florida site with his Sunpass to pay before I turned in the car. He entered the license plate and is showed $0 due (we figured that the tolls were still suspended due to Hurricane Ian).

Now I have a bill for $115.11 with no explanation - no break down of what the tolls are and what the fees are. This is absurd!

Thrifty Rent A Car Rental car

Car was filled with roaches could not continue to drive had to take car to get sprayed and cleaned was horrible and just gross I still feel like things crawling on me. Just horrible. When explained this to rental staff they looked at me like that is normal. was an hour late to return car due to this and was charged for a whole extra day. This is just unacceptable and bad business. Car filled with ROACHES not spiders or ants ROACHES and charged extra. Again

Oklahoma thrifty will Rogers airport. Very horrible EXTREMELY HORRIBLE!

Dear THRIFTY,

On September 3, 2022 I reserved a one-week rental car with Thrifty from Washington airport for a sum of $401.19 (plus EZ-PASS and StaNav). Booking confirmation number: K23938105C9.

However, the final bill includes $703.49 of items which were already “included” in the original quote, or not requested and not wanted.

I am truly annoyed by this more than doubling of the original quotation and ask for the unjustified $703.49 to be refunded immediately.

( I have rented cars over 100 times in my life, and never been treated like this. )

Details:

I arrived, very tired, at the Thrifty rental car office at Washington airport at 6pm on 22 September after travelling for 18 hours. However, instead of presenting me with the reserved car, the Agent commenced on a long discussion culminating in his asking me to sign-off for the car. Which I did. As you can see below the final bill includes many errors and many unrequested items:

THE ORIGINAL AGREEMENT (near the bottom of this email) INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WHICH HAVE BEEN CHARGED TO ME:

1. AIRPORT CONCESSION FEE RECOVERY. Incorrectly charged to me at $97.45.

2. CUSTOMER FACILITY CHARGE. Incorrectly charged to me at $21.00.

3. VEHICLE LICENSING RECOVERY COST: Incorrectly charged to me at $2.75.

4. TAX: Incorrectly charged to me at $99.56.

Additionally, the following items were NOT WANTED and NOT REQUESTED:

1. LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER: Incorrectly charged to at $244.73.

2. PREMIUM EMERGENCY ROADSIDE SERVICE. Incorrectly charged to me at $62.93

3. VEHICLE UPGRADE: Incorrectly charged to me at $175.00.

I would greatly appreciate Thrifty’s immediate attention to this matter, especially as so many of the items directly contradict the Agreement sent to me by Thrifty on September 3, 2022.

Otherwise, taking into consideration the magnitude of the errors, as compared with the original rental Agreement, I will feel compelled to inform various media about this total disregard of the original Agreement between Thrifty and myself.

CHECKLIST - WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

• When you collect your vehicle you will need the credit card you used to make your booking (if you used a debit card, you will need that card plus a valid credit card in your name) and a full and current driving licence for each driver.

• Also, the name and details of the renter must be the same as the person that made the reservation.

PAYMENT, PRICING & CHARGES

• Please note: we will block an amount on your credit/debit card equal to the anticipated cost of your rental over and above the amount paid at the time of reservation.

• Most locations accept the majority of debit cards. If you have questions about the acceptability of your form of payment, please check Rental Terms, Qualifications & Requirements.

• Although we try to ensure that all prices quoted on our websites are accurate, errors may sometimes occur. We will inform you as soon as possible if we discover an error in the price of your reservation and give you the opportunity to confirm your booking at the correct price or cancel your usual cancellation charges will not apply if you choose to cancel. If you cancel and you have already paid for your rental, you will receive a full refund. If we are unable to contact you we will treat your reservation as cancelled.

• An additional daily charge may apply for renters under 25 (see Rental Terms, Qualifications & Requirements).

• Estimated amount to be paid at the counter is based on available information at the time of reservation for renters age 25 and older. This does not include any additional items you may choose at the location, such as refuelling, LDW, etc.

• Where the booking is a prepaid booking and additional product have been selected, the total charge is estimated based on local currency conversion, where applicable, at time of booking, and is subject to exchange rate fluctuation at time of pick up for any additional products selected.

• At the time of booking, you authorise the Hertz renting company to take payment from your payment method for any charges incurred under the Rental Terms and Rental Agreement, in accordance with the terms of those agreements. You acknowledge and agree that Hertz is authorised to charge such payments for the charges arising from your rental during and after its end to your payment method without any further authorisation. For pay later: You acknowledge and agreed that Hertz is authorised to make a 0.00EUR transaction for the purposes of authenticating your card.

Please note that our Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection policies have an excess amount payable by you should there be loss or damage to the vehicle during your rental.

CHANGES TO YOUR RESERVATION

• You can amend your reservation free of charge online through the View/Modify/Cancel button on our website or you can Contact Us, although we reserve the right to charge an administration fee.

• If you make a change we will recalculate your rental charges based on current prices, which may be more or less than the price originally booked. Please note that you must use the same credit card you used to make the original booking or you will need to cancel (see Cancellations below) and make a new reservation.

• We are unable to accept changes to the renter or the pickup location. If you want to change these, you will need to cancel (see Cancellations below) and make a new reservation.

CHANGES AT TIME OF PICK UP

• If you wish to rent a larger car or rent for a longer period, you can make these changes on pick up, subject to availability, on payment of additional charges, which will be quoted in the currency of the renting country.

• Please note that prepaid vouchers can only be used for rentals on the actual date quoted on the reservation. If you wish to change the pick-up date you must cancel (see Cancellations below) and re-book.

CANCELLATIONS

• You can cancel your reservation online through the View/Modify/Cancel button or you can Contact Us.

• If you made a pre-paid reservation and cancel no later than midnight 2 days before the date of your scheduled pick-up we will refund your reservation in full. If the cancellation is made after this time and before the scheduled pick-up time, we will refund your prepayment less an administration charge of: EUR 56.

NO SHOWS / LOST RENTALS

• If you pay at location, fail to cancel your reservation and do not collect the vehicle on the pickup date, we reserve the right to make a No Show / Lost Rental Charge of EUR 119 (or local equivalent) which recovers our administration costs. This will be taken from the credit card you used to make your booking.

• In this case we will refund your prepayment, less the No Show/Lost Rental Charge, if you write to us within 90 days of the pickup date at Thrifty Prepaid Accounting Department, Hertz Europe Service Centre, Swords Business Park, Swords, Co. Dublin, Ireland requesting repayment and enclosing a copy of your Reservation Confirmation.

• If you pay at location, fail to cancel your reservation and do not collect the vehicle on the pickup date, we reserve the right to make a No Show / Lost Rental Charge of EUR (or local equivalent) which recovers our administration costs. This will be taken from the credit card you used to make your booking.

EARLY RETURN

• Please note that we are unable to give a refund if you return the vehicle early.

NATURE OF THIS AGREEMENT

• These reservation terms cover your booking with us (Hertz Europe Service Centre Limited, a company registered in Ireland) and are governed by Irish law. Your rental terms will be given to you by the Thrifty company providing your rental, which is a division of Hertz, and will be governed by local law.

• Acceptance of your reservation and completion of this contract for provision of a rental vehicle will occur when the vehicle is made available for your use on the agreed pick up date by the Thrifty company providing your rental.

Thrifty Rent A Car Charge for Insurance

I rented a car from Thrifty on August 4, 2022 at Ohare Airport in Chicago and returned it on August 20, 2022. When your representative asked if I wanted insurance, I replied, as I always do, that I did NOT want coverage. I NEVER take the coverage as records of previous rentals from your sister companies, Dollar and Hertz, will verify. I was asked to initial and sign the agreement on a tiny electronic device and did so without hesitation, never expecting to be charged over $18/day for insurance.

I don't care whether this was an honest mistake or a scam, I clearly said no to insurance coverage. It increased my cost by $300 and I should receive reimbursement'

Dear Sir, Madam,

During the period between August 14, 2022 at 10:32am to August 20, 2022 at 7:42am, I rented a car from Thirty Car Rental in George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) located at 17330 Palmetto Pines, Houston, TX 77032 under rental agreement no. #[protected] and Reservation ID # K21636702C2 .The rented vehicle was a Kia Sorento TAG #MPH3877.

I am dissatisfied with the way you charged me twice with the toll fees and service fees. With this email, I am requesting a response and an appropriate resolution of my complaint.

The services you provided do not fulfil my expectations because prior to renting, I contacted Thrifty Car Rental’s Customer service [protected] and asked if I would be able to use my personal Pennsylvania E-Z pass while I was in Texas. The customer service representative was not sure and placed me on hold in order to find the right answer for me. A short time later, she confirmed that I would be able to use my PA EZ-Pass while. I understand that this is my words against the customer service representative words, but I am confident that your company recorded our conversation. Also, as a currently Police Supervisor, I uphold my integrity to the fullest.

INCIDENT #1:

Before I departed with my rental vehicle, I went on PA EZ-PASS application on my phone and added the listed rental vehicle license plate to on my account.

A few days later after the vehicle was returned, I received a letter in the mail from Thrifty Rental Fine stating that I owed a total of $120.35 for toll and service fees. The service fee was $90 and the toll fees charges was $30.35. I was charged a total of $330.00 for the administrative fees, but received an “Admin Discount”. I received this letter on September 6, 2022 and I had until September 9th to pay it off. The letter stated I will be automatically charged to my credit card account #8215 if I am unable to provide a proof of payment by September 9, 2022. After looking into this matter, I discovered that PA EZ-Pass and TX EZ-Tag are not the same. Texas Toll does not recognize PA-EZ PASS. The customer service representative provided me with an incorrect answer.

Unfortunately, I unable to clear this matter with the Texas toll issuer. On September 11th, I was charged by Thrifty Toll [protected] in the amount of $118.94 to my chase credit card ending in the last four digit #8215. The credit card transaction reference number is 24430992254083746973517. I understand that there was a miscommunication in this matter, so I did not dispute this with my Chase credit card company and just accepted this charge to my credit card as a lesson learned.

INCIDENT #2:

On 09/16/20222, I received another letter from Thrifty Rental stating that one or more toll charges were issued to my rental car in my possession. The associated toll charges were paid. The total Toll charge for this letter was for the amount of $33.10 and 6 Admin fee of ($15) was added to my fine by Thrifty Car rental. The total amount is $123.10. The letter also indicated that if I don’t take any action, the credit card I used to pay for my rental in the ending account number of #8215 will be charged for the toll amount and administrative fee on 09/22/2022.

Since I was already charged for the initial incident on my credit card on 09/11/2022 for the amount of $118.94, I am now force to make another automatic payment of $123.10 on 09/22/2022 for the same incident. If I am charged again, the total service fee will be $180 ($15 X 12) and I will be paying $66.20 ($33.10x2).

My expectations were based your customer service representative. She stated that I was allowed to use my PA EZ pass while I was using your rental vehicle. However, I wasn’t charged just (1) time but, I was unexpectedly charged (2) TWO times for the same incident. I received (2) letters

This situation is disappointing and frustrating to me. I did my due diligent by contacting Thrifty Car Customer service to check if I would be able to use my Personal PA EZ-PASS and I was told I would be able to. Instead, I was charged (1) time and have another pending charge against my credit card. I am quite sure that it was just a misunderstanding and this situation can be resolved.

I hereby request that you respectfully waive all the service fees and provide a refund of $90 back to my credit card. In addition, don’t charge me for a pending fee that is scheduled to charge my credit card on 09/22/22.

If fail to do so, I reserve the right to claim compensation for the loss I have incurred. A formal complaint will be filed through the Consumer protection agency, PA State Attorney General’s office, and the Federal Trade commission. I am hoping we can come to a resolution and no legal steps have to be taken.

Thrifty Rent A Car Rental car charge from Denver Airport

Rented a car from Denver Airport and when we declined all the options the agent was very short with us and never mentioned the tolls that could occur. Kept the cars for 8 days and the charger for our phone never worked. Our phone battery died several times while we were driving and we could not use Waze which produced some problems. Waze was not on when we were returning the car to the airport and somehow we ended up on a toll road. There were several signs stating that the toll would be $2 and change for each one we pass, amounting to approximately $10. When we turned the car in we were told we would be charged $80 or we could wait until we got a bill. When we explained about the non-working charger the manager gave up $20 off but we were still charged $60. We understand that we owe the toll amount of approximately $10 but are requesting a refund of the $50 extra we paid in administrative fees since the tolls were never mentioned when we rented the car and we could not charge our phone to use Waze. We returned the car on Wednesday September 14, 2022.
