Sauna / steam facilities
Facilities not open after close on a year . Notices oN the door stating government rules . This isn't true as the top clubs have their facilities open . Yet customers are lied to and still pay for the services . This has hindered customer well being and health. I urge someone to take this up legally. Virgin may not be under obligation to keep these facilities open . But the lies surrounding it is indeed not good.

Pathetic customer service
This dates back to March/April this year when I needed to cancel my wife's membership. I, as the main member of Vitality, and the payer, went into the gym to cancel my wife's membership as she was not keen on venturing out to train due to COVID and affordability.
The receptionist there said that she needed to come in to cancel it and said nothing about a 30 day notice period. My wife, who is a healthcare worker and works far from home eventually got to the gym only to be told they need a 30 day notice period which was not advised in the first instance. We had then spoken to Ronel who eventually advised that they would refund us the premium that had been debited for the new month, that has not started yet, despite us saying that we do not wish to make use of the facility.
The refund, that was promised to me, is still pending for the last 5 months. I have been receiving no feedback and have to continuously follow up with them and even then there are excuses. There is absolutely no customer service with Virgin Active. Please just give me my refund

Sub-standard equipment
ON 20/09/2021 we attended an aerobics class at 17:05 at the East London Beach Front gym, but half way through the class the small speakers used for the music cut off. We did not have music for the better half of the session and for only 5 minutes towards the end. They are currently using small portable speakers whose sound quality is just poor.
This is demotivating as the class duration has already been reduced to 45 minutes and I do not expect this of Virgin Active.
Virgin Active Membership
I am waiting on a refund from Virgin Active since July 2021, despite several promises of the process taking 7-10 days. I have tried to cancel my membership and can get no response on any emails that I have sent. I have sent follow up emails regularly at least once a week about both problems and nobody ever comes back to me. This service is unacceptable. Ref : [protected] was given to me which is meaningless as nothing is ever resolved or responded to. I pay a lot of money to this Gym and I am being treated terribly. I was happy to keep my membership going but after this shocking service I am cancelling my membership

I called on 29.07.2021 to cancel my membership. The consultant confirmed that the request has been logged, last payment would be 01.08.2021 and the cancelation would be finalized at the end of August. Another debit order went off on 02.09.2021. I called on 02.09.2021, spoke to a consultant who advised that there was no record of a cancelation request on the notes. He said he would get his team leader to pull the recorded call and call me back with feedback. I heard nothing from him then I called again on 07.09.2021, spoke to 5 or 6 different consultants because each consultant cut the call while I was explaining my issue. I managed to speak to yet another consultant, gave him the details of my initial call. He also said he'd have the recorded call pulled and get back to me. I still haven't heard anything.
Desired outcome: I want this membership canceled a refund of the money taken on 02.09.2021

I was approached by a Virgin Active member and she told me about the promotion that they have on virgin Active., she said I can join virgin Active and I would get the 1st 2mothts free then after I can start paying but that didn't happen. They started deducting money from the start of the 2nd month tht I was told it was going to be free

I wish to cancel my membership. I have called to cancel, filled in forms to cancel, been offered a freeze of membership for four months.
NONE OF THE AGREEMENTS HAVE BEEN HONOURED.
I have been a Virgin Active member for over twenty years now. I have valid reasons for cancelling my membership.
AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE, EVEN IF I WANTED A GYM MEMBERSHIP I WOULD GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I WOULD ALSO ADVISE ANYONE WHO ASKED NOT TO SIGN UP WITH A COMPANY WHICH IS CONSTANTLY, INCOMPETENTLY "OFF-LINE".

Non-disclosure resulting in double debit.
I joined at the end of June and in July I paid my agreed amount of R222.50 on the Vitality plan. On 1st August they debited R445 from my account stating that I'm an adult dependent (which was not disclosed to me). I switched to my own medical aid, and now they want to charge a joining fee, even though I'm already a member. Now that I want to cancel my membership, they have the audacity to charge me 2 months of premium.

I've recently signed up however due to too your computer hack my vitality points for gym visits are not filtering through
I presume the manual allocation of points is not being done

Unethical Behaviour
I have been a Virgin Active member for the more then 10 year. I was a member
at the N2 Somerset West branch, this branch closed and I received a call from Virgin Active office informing me that seeming they closed the branch I was at they will fix my premium and upgrade my packing at no extra cost and I can now move to any Virgin Active branch at no extra cost and this cost for me has now been fixed. This was great news and I moved to a difference club. Unfortunately covid happened and we all had to make some changes, I canceled my Medical plan with Discovery and did not stop my Virgin Active premium. With out contact me they deducted money from my account 10 times more then what the agreement was on. They informed me that as I am no longer with discovery my premium changed.
Now this I would understand if my agreement was still on a lower premium as a result of the medical aid benefit, my benefit of the lower premium was given as a result of the branch closing nothing to do with my medical. I have asked for feedback on the 01/02/2021 and every week till today 12/08/2021 asking weekly for feedback and no feedback.
Cancellation
In February 2021, I decided to join virgin active. I went to the one at cape gate, I spoke to one of the staffs there and was really specific about my request:
basically I came here in Cape Town on the 2nd of November to be with my partner, when I got here I applied for a spousal visa to stay in the country, I told the staff that I needed a short term gym membership because I wasn't sure if I was going to get the visa or not, to which I was told that they don't do anymore. He insisted I should go for the one year contract and if anything, I should meet with him and he will cancel it for me. And also I get the month of April for free... I thought that was nice and I signed the contract.
I started going to the gym n even booked a personal trainer. First my card didn't work and the staff had to touch in and out for me. So I wasn't qualified for the April free month coz they think I didn't come.
then my visa got rejected, and immediately I phoned virgin active to let them know and they told me I should go to the store. I did n told them the situation, they started telling me I should pay for the cancellation etc etc, I told them about the dude that dealt with me initially and was told by him that he would sort it out but he was nowhere to be found. And because time was ticking and had to act fast, they told me to freeze the account AND I DID JUST THAT! While I was dealing with my visa, and also lost my job, I was depositing money on my account to pay my solicitor and the immigration office etc... next thing, virgin active took that money from my account which left me with nothing and delayed my application and I had only 10 days to find money. I phoned virgin active, they said somebody hacked into their system and they can't give me any information and that my account is still active etc. months went by, they were still taking money from my account, I kept calling and I was getting the same hacking business. I sent them several emails and no reply from them.
Can they still legit charging me for the service?

The transparency of the gym and the workers
I joined virgin active and they had told me that I'd get the first month free if I work out for 4 days straight, that did not happen. I was told if I could help a friend join I'd get the following month 50% off, that didn't happen either. When I joined the employee that helped me wasn't transparent with me, she did not mention how long the contract would be, she was more in a rush to get me to sign on the dotted lines than to actually evaluate now the contract works. If you have an alternative option, do not choose virgin active. Their services do not match their prices.
Desired outcome: Live up to their promises and they need to be transparent with their customers. As soon as this contract ends there is no way I'm re-signing with Virgin Active
Membership status
I have now been trying to get an update on my Membership status for two weeks. Each month my debit order is different and I don't know what I must pay. I have sent many emails and have called your helpline 10+ times. The emails go unanswered and the call centre numbers either does not work, or the operators simply put the phone down while I'm explaining the situation to them. Furthermore, neither your website or mobile app is allowing me to check my account and all the contact numbers on your website is incorrect. This will be my last attempt to reach you and if I do not get a response by return email, my next step will by Hallo Peter, Social media and contacting your HQ in England, as well as emailing your CEO directly. Your client service is simply unacceptable and pathetic!

The Virgin Active Waterstone number does not work. This is very frustrating to say the least. I then tried to phone the Head Office but it only rings for a couple of seconds then it stops.

Membership
We were phoned by a consultant over a phone. He never mentioned all the rules etc regarding vitality. Since february that we joined I tried to resolve this and requested that my membership must be fixed and to get a voice recording of what was offered by tony. Until today no feedback because apparently system was hacked. I want our account to be fixed immediately and refuse to pay for the normal fees. Trying to find a resolution for this but no one wants to assist. I was promised by thulisa that she will phone today but i'm getting ignored. Please I want to pay my membership what was offered over the phone and resolve this. It is 4 months now. Virgin active n1 city is also aware of this but they can't assist.

Inappropriate music at the gym
Good day,
I am a member of Virgin Active and have been for years. I mostly train at Virgin Active Rooihuiskraal in Centurion, Gauteng.
In multiple occasions this gym plays kwaito music to which everyone must be forced to train on. This is simply not cultural sensitive and truly frustrating.
I have suggested and will again suggest playing pop music, which is popular in the broad terms.
I am truly so sick of this and considering taking legal action against Virgin SA.

Poor service
I am urgently looking to cancel my virgin active gym contract, I have been trying for weeks. They are near impossible to get a hold of on call. I finally found an email address which is not listed as a contact on any of the south african websites only to be met with lazy poor service consultants as Tyron.
I am unemployed and my 24 months on contract has passed however I have not received any assistance. I have been calling since 27 May 2021, emailing since 4 June 2021. I have been met with nonchalant lazy workers and have not received any feedback other than the systems are offline, for over a week.
