pickpockets roaming store
This review is about Aldi Cleethorpes Road Grimsby as of May 2015. This store absolutely disgusts me, There is a gang of pickpockets operating in the store and they tried to thieve from my shoulder bag. Whilst this is happening the "security guard" is watching and doing nothing, do they only move if Aldi food is being thieved? These pickpocket thieves roam the store I saw 3 or 4 of them, they had baskets so they pretend to be shopping whilst they loiter looking for targets. This attempted theft has been reported.
majority of box are burnt
I take my mom to Aldi's every week and we both by 'Savoritz Cheese Baked Crackers'. She is elderly and only buys one as opposed to me buying two boxes. Not only have I turned my friends on to your product but actually I can eat almost both boxes by myself. I cook with it using it as a crumbled topping on several dishes. I buy your cheese crackers because I prefer your's to ' Cheese It's'.
MY COMPLAINT IS:
I had to open three boxes this week because of the number of burnt crackers in the pkg. The last two that I opened were two-thirds burnt. In fact the second box I may have only gotten 15 decent crackers in the box. Needless to say the remainder of both boxes were thrown down the trash chute. Today I really want some so I broke down and opened it. The third had only about 10 bad ones but as I poured more out of the box into a bowl, I picked out the edible one and had to throw the remainder out. Have you ever tasted a burnt one, they are really bad tasting. Now this week I'm not sure what to buy. Can I get some feedback?
If a picture says a thousand words, then my crackers are definitely on the burnt side of things! What an embarrassment for me to serve at a party!
Hi, I also always shop at aldi and love the food but recently I bought 2 boxes of the cracked black pepper triscuits and they are both plain . Nothing on them at all. I've bought them lots of times and they were great.
I got a box with damaged inter packaging . probably a thin sheet or a hot spot in molding process. Thought there might a place to declare .
Your Savoritz Cheese Crackers are the best crackers I've ever tasted. I bought a couple of boxes while I was down in South Carolina at the Aldi Store. I didn't open one box so I brought it home with me. I was wondering, is there any way I can purchase these delicious crackers in my area. I live in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada. If I'm not able to purchase these crackers in Canada, I guess I will have to wait until next year when I'm back down in South Carolina.
Please advise.
Many thanks,
Pat Savoy
offensive content
The recently shown tv advert for Aldi has really offended me and a few others that I have spoken to. Showing a man brushing his teeth dropping the toothbrush into a toilet and instead of throwing away he changed the toothbrush with his partners and placed the toothbrush into their holder? I understand the concept of swooping supermarkets but the hygiene and honesty / decrepit on does not advertise the correct message to encourGe new customers instead it gives the wrong message and it is disgusting behaviour and dishonest. Not good for adults or children's viewing. I am a regular shopper with Aldi but this advert is not funny at all.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I really don't see how you find it offensive. It is a light hearted advert. I would be very surprised if somebody decided to use that as an example of good oral hygiene.
rude employees
I went to aldi and bought almost 100.00 worth of products. When I was standing in line a guy behind me got out of line and went around to the front and handed the cashier his purchases and she rang him up. They did not even ask me if he could go first he just cut in front of me and the cashier said nothing and she knew he was behind me. I am done with this store. If you do not have a coin on you for the cart you have to go get change. Don't forget your bags you have to have your won our buy theirs. It is so unprofessional for the cashier to be sitting ringing up and just THROWING YOUR STUFF IN THE CART. HATE THIS STORE.
I WAS USING MAXWELL HOUSE COFFEE. I BOUGHT BEAUMONT COFFEE IN TIN. 33.9 OZ CLASSIC ROAST MEDIUM I HAVE NEVER TASTED COFFEE THAT BAD. I ENJOY COFFEE AT IHOP AND SONIC. THEY ONLY HAD 1 BRAND OF COFFEE. I DONT THINK ANYONE THAT BOUGHT IT WOULD EVER BUY IT AGAIN.
Other than the rude customer who broke the line, nothing you complained about is hidden from you. Everyone knows Aldi you have to buy the bags or bring your own, and everyone knows you have to pay a deposit for the carts. If you hate it so much why go there?
As for the customer who broke the line, why didn't YOU confront him? It is not the cashier's place to do so, it is yours.
how cases are packaged
The cases of 16 oz bottles of Pur Aqua Spring Water is packaged in plastic which is fine, but has no support like cardboad to avoid the bottoms of the bottles from getting damaged & unlevel. The bottles won't stad up straight. Sometimes they don't stand up at all. Aldi also sells rhe 10 oz cases, but they are supported by a cardboard bottom. The 16 oz needs the support even more with the bottes are just as flimsy as the 10oz & heavier. I need 16 oz as my medical supervised weight requires I drink 70 oz a day. I buy at least 2 cases a wk because I as well as my husband likes the water. This is a legitimate complaint that needs your attention. I have bought them whete bottles are burst on the bottom.
dihonesty
I worked for this company for 12 years before I witnessed my store manager David Schweitzer stealing $400.00 from the store safe. I utilized the open door policy and reported it to my District Manager, Erika Lempa. Other associates witnessed this theft as well and soon after I reported it, I was called on the carpet by the District Manager, Erika Lempa, and the Director of Operations, Jon Dana. I was swiftly bullied by these two and told that I was putting the store manager in a bad spot because now the other employees would not respect him (they already didn't). I was told that I was not supposed to use the "Open door policy" the company has in place, I was just supposed to keep it to myself and do as I was told. I was ordered to apologize to the thief and when I refused I was fired on trumped up accusations of "working off the clock". I had been expected to "work off the clock" for the past 12 years without incident. This company's dishonesty is part of the corporate culture from the store managers all the way up to the president of the company. Do not give them your business. The only way people like this learn, is by hitting them where it hurts, IN THIER WALLETS!

Can someone please give me banking advice? I posted a question.
Tasha13 what is it like being in prison with all that spare time?
They are supposed to allow you to see the prices as they are rung up. Reach over and turn the thing towards you, and if they object, insist on seeing a manager.
a wheel missing on my new wagon
I had bought a foldable wagon, i got it home and it is missing a wheel, i dont have the receipt or box i threw them in the trash, not thinking my trash picked up the next morning. i figured i could just pick up a wheel at lowes but they dont carry them.
everyone told me to get ahold of you and maybe you would send me a wheel. I really wanted this wagon for my antique store to move stuff around in side the store. can you please help me out and send me a wheel, thank you.
Poor quality
Aldi has a habit of switching their store brands on a regular basis and often this has meant a poorer quality replacement. But nothing prepared me for my first and last can of Hereford Canned Beef Corned. The new (improved) pull-top lid failed immediately. Since the lid was clearly marked do not use a can opener I resorted to hammering it with the butt of...
Read full review of Aldi and 7 commentswhy are credit cards not accepted?
I find it demoralizing that Aldi accepts welfare credit cards, has all the equipment for processing credit payments but does not accept consumer credit cards. I'm sure that most consumers would gladly pay a 1 or 2% premium for accepting credit cards thus invalidating Aldi's claim that they're not accepting credit cards to save you, the consumer, money. If they chose a premium that represented their actual cost, the consumer would have the choice of either using their credit card and paying the premium or simply paying cash. Personally, I believe Aldi doesn't care what the consumer thinks. To accentuate this point on a recent shopping trip to Aldi I chose not to play the ball and chain
$.25 shopping cart routine and instead put my groceries in a empty Aldi box. Upon checkout the clerk told me that I would have to take everything out of the box and put it on the conveyor belt before she could ring it up. When I asked her why she couldn't simply take them out of the box as she rang them up; she said that I would have to take everything out of the box except the head of lettuce. When I asked if she was serious she told me that it was Aldi's corporate rules. Aldi rule #1, consumers concerns are not important. When all is said and done it's really all about the lettuce.

Why do you have to be a jerk when you go there?
Aldi doesn't care what you think. They are a business and do business their way. If you do not like the way they do business, shop elsewhere. As for the credit card being declined, learn to read. There are signs on the front door and in the store as well as at the checkout that plainly state they do not accept credit cards. And one person, 1% isn't much. But Aldi gets more than one customer, and those percents add up.
Good for them for not bowing to pressure. Another thing I love about Aldi is they do not allow customers to wreck their store or abuse their employees.
There is a sign on the door and in the store that plainly says they do not accept credit cards. The reason they are cheap is that they keep their costs down by not supplying bags (which stores pay over a million dollars a year for if they are a big corporation), they do not pay credit card processing fees by not taking cards, they charge a deposit for use of their carts, which is smart, and they make you unload your cart to the belt, also smart.
People complain all the time about how expensive things are, but they never take into account how much it costs to run a business. Aldi also does not allow their customers to abuse their employees, which is another plus in my book. If you want fancy, go elsewhere.
I agree with you, I my Capital One card was denied at Aldi because they won't take it. I had to leave all the groceries there and go to a bank across the street to get a cash advance which was another fee.
bad return policy
Hi i was wondering if someone can help me out, 2 days ago i brought a router from aldi when i opened it i noticed parts were missing from it, i took it back to the store and told them what was wrong with it and that i couldnt find my reciept the manager asked me when i bought it and what else i bought with it i told him the bits to go with the router and some veg he asked me to wait while he did a print out of my reciept.
When he returned i asked the manager if i could swap it for another one he told me they had no more left so i asked him if any of the other stores had any left, he went to check for me, when he came back he told me swinton did have one that i would have to collect it today, i asked him could it not be brought to this store as i didnt drive he told me no they didnt do things like that and if i couldnt get there to write off to workzone the company that make the router and see if they would fix it i said its not broken that parts were missing he then said well explain that to them and send it back to them at my exspense.
As i dont drive that me having to get 2 buses to the other store with over a hour journey there and 2 buses back another hour, i am disabled i cant make that sort of journey.so i am stuck with a take doent work and the router bit set i am £32.00 out of pockte surly this isnt right. If he could do me a copy of my reciept isnt that proof enough.
I shop in the bayswater victoria aldi store every week and have complained several times to various staff about them leaving unatended with the key in the thing they transport good around the store with as i think it is very dangerous as any child could turn the key and cause damage to themselves or other customers….. on sunday the 4 th of december i had cause to complain again and the lady i complained to to said she had her eye on it all the time and i said the key should be taken out as she could be distracted..
at the time she was on the phone which is a distratction it only needs seconds for a kid to turn the key and operate it anyway she took offence at this and told me to get out of the store and called to the chap on the check out not to serve me so i didn;t argue i went out of the store and left my wife to go through the check out and i waited for her outside but two mins later my wife came out and said that she had taken the trolly and goods off her.
and would not let her go through the check out with them this had nothing to do with my wife so why did she take it out on her for what i said anyway whilst i was outside the store two people spoke to me one said she had no right to speak to me like that as that is not the way to speak to customers and she would not be shopping there again the second couple who had a small child said that there child would have turned the key had it had the chance and they said they would also complain but later as the person in question seemed to be in a foul mood.
and it would have made much differance anyway i feel you should speak to the person at the bayswater store and i think that she should apolagise to me and my wife also i am thinking very seriously of reporting it to the health and saftey people i have not put my name to this for security reasons but the person in question knows who i am and could apolagise to me when i return to the store again as i am not going to stop shopping at aldi as it is a great place to shop i hope some action will be taken in regards to this email.
Okay get a life people. wrote this complaint over a year ago and you are still talking about it. I forgot about this until I got an email saying I got replies.
lowlife 1.
Do you really think parents have time to watch their children? No lunkhead because they are too busy shopping.
lowlife 2
Yeah you are right she cannot apologize if I don't return to the store. However I was asked to leave the store by her and the manager because I called her a b**ch and told her she was ugly. I was angry at that time. They asked me to leave the store. They had no right to kick my wife out of the store and neither of us will be returning. I told my wife if i hear she stepped foot in this store again I will slap and beat her up.
Wow, I can't believe that I wrote this review like a month ago and two ###s replied. First of all do you really think people have time to watch their children? They are busy shopping ### to watch their children you ###.
To ### number 2. I won't be returning to the store, and yeah I have left out my name for safety reasons. My wife won't be returning to this store either because I told her that if she ever stepped foot in this store again I would slap her and beat her.
At our Aldi store we don't usually have unattended children running through the store. Perhaps they should remove the key, but watching our children is really the best thing to do don't you think?

very poor
Aldi, you have the worlds most expensive food. Why? Because I have had to throw most of it away! Frankly I don’t understand how you getaway with it. My experience with Aldii/Carnivor in France was just the opposite – excellent there. But, then, they would not let you get away with selling garbage, now would they? The plum tomatoes were like easting tasteless red toothpaste. $2.00 wasted! The stakes were rubbery and tasteless. $4.71 down the drain.
The romaine lettuce was like old chewing gum, quite tough. $1.99 for garbage. The canned salmon was ok and I have yet to try the fish and canned herring. The spices and chopped garlic were ok, but certainly not work going out of you way. i guess you think all Americans are stupid and cannot taste. i also do not like the fact that you are taking advantage of poor people by locating your market sin or around low income area. I can hardly recommend you or you products.
Pity you do not give a contact number in the USA. Come to think of it, I understand why!
Actually, one of the Aldi's in our area in located in an upper middle class location, and it is always busy with folks from all across the economic spectrum. I love their store, and shop there nearly every week. We use the canned salmon, too, and it is great in recipes. I get their milk, eggs, black olives, bread, rolls, produce, especially the avocados, which are very low priced. I also like the ground chicken, and the sweet Italian sausage, and the turkey burgers. Their cheeses are very good, I always have my cheese drawer full for my family's late night snacks. Their pumpkins at Halloween were the cheapest anywhere, so I was able to get a lot of them. Their cappuccino in French vanilla is very tasty. Their version of Gatorade is pretty good. Their flour tortillas make good burritos or fajitas. I buy their pasta, canned tomatoes, canned black beans, baked beans, and their canned chunky soups are way better than the national brand, in my opinion. Their plastic "solo" cups are cheap enough to keep those around, so I don't have to wash so many glasses. Oh, and the chocolate they get in from Germany and Austria around Easter and Christmas is extremely yummy.
I like to try some of their new products, which aren't always the greatest, but I know that before I buy them, but I have found some new favorites that way, too. If you get a product, they have a double your money back guarantee, so take back the stuff you think is bad.
It is cheap for a reason...
Spoilage
For the last (6) six times I've purchased milk from Aldis at 76st and Ashland and also at 47th and Laflin. Both in Chicago, IL; the milk spoils within (4) four days. I just kept trying, to no avail!! My e-mail is [protected]@hotmail.com. James Searcy 9116 S. Laflin st 1st FL. Chicago, IL. 60620

I went into Aldi's at about 7pm 27 June 2011. I was checking out and the cashier would not let me see the prices that she was ringing up, she stated that she needs to watch the screen. I told her NO I was the one paying for them so I need to see the screen. Then I asked to Please DO NOT throw my food in the buggy, she continued on. I asked again DO NOT...

I like shopping at Aldis except for one thing cashiers are damaging the groceries..If this persist I will shop elsewere.
I come home with dented cans and meat packages torn..
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I just came from Aldi's less than 2 hours ago and we bought canned goods there. All are okay. I have seen them just toss the products in the empty shopping cart without care. The next time before the cashier starts checking your groceries tell them that you will inspect your cans for dents and ask them to go replace them while you're bagging your groceries. I've found that letting people know up front that I'm not playing and that I mean business I usually have no problems with anything. I may come off as being a jerk but it's effective for me and it's my money! :)
customer service
i am so sick of some of these cashiers...I see that some of them work very hard, and are friendly, and others dont...
i have been to both locations...it seems that this same black lady at this high point rd. store is so hateful to me each and every time, like i have done something to her..she is rude to others as well... she does NOT make eye contact, she never speaks, she throws your stuff in the basket, she never ask if you want cash back on your debit, like the other cashiers do...she NEVER says, "thanks, or have a good day"...this has been going on for about 1 1/2 years now...i keep telling myself not to go back, but i like saving money, and i like the quality of the food...
she even hit my face one time with that chain on the buggy, while i was leaning down to change my case of water from one buggy to the next. NEVER EVEN SAID SHE WAS SORRY.. as a matter of fact, her and the black customer behind me, even laughed about it..! what is her problem..? why in the crap do they keep her there.? she does not even work fast like the others do...she actually acts like she doesn't even know what is going on around her..? she acts like she is about to fall asleep..she even wears that bluetooth phone on her ear, as well as talking on it while she is working..? why do they keep her there...does she have something on the manager or something..? i thought most companies would not keep the "bad employees around"...but rather have the ones that actually work hard, and are friendly to the public..?
guess that is the day and age that we live in..? it's pretty sad when you employees are running off your customers..!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I agree with the original poster. Just a "tiny" bit of customer service would be appreciated at Aldi, I'm sure.
I went there once and that was it. The store was dirty, crowded and the cashier (not the same one as the OP) was rude. It was worse than Wal-Mart, if you can believe it! That's all it took for me. I have not been back.
Did you report it to management?
Honestly though, Aldi is extremely cheap and you don't necessarily pay for the customer service.
When I'm at a grocery store, I couldn't care less how the cashier acts. They're there to take your money, not entertain you. It's a ### minimum wage job, don't expect premium service. Lower your expectations and you won't be disappointed anymore.
lunch mate-honey turkey breast
I tried to contact Aldi twice by email waited days and have not even received a confirmation.
My original statement is as follows:
I made a sandwich with your Lunch Mate Honey Turkey Breast and bit on a chard of bone feeling like it almost broke my tooth. I felt like this was a rare occurrence that would not happen again.
A few days later I made another sandwich and found two more pieces of bone and this time I saved them.
I never had a complaint about an Aldi's product before and have been shopping with you ever since you opened in my area. But more care should be taken in the process of this product. I really have no ambition to finish the lunch meat.
I agree I notice this alot with this meat. My mom has bought me this in the past and throught the full package I can feel some kind of bone while chewing it. I told her to stop buying Aldi lunch meat... btw I LOVE 90% if Aldis products heck 9 times out of 10 there better than any other brand out there but I agree with you on this... as a matter of fact why I looked this up is cause she just bought another packed (and its been a while since I told her to stop buying it she must of forgot and picked one up this week) looked real good to be honest... but yes still I did find bone in my first sandwich! Aldis step up stop this!
disgusting food, selling past date
Unfortunately, the lady at the checkout counter at Aldi's "misplaced" my receipt. However, meat I bought on the 30th of January (I have a witness) is dated the 27th and they will not make good on it. I has an "off taste." i am not sure if it is the bad quality or the meat is tainted. In either case, I will not eat it.

Does anyone know anything about a company named The General Advocate Group? They are suppose to be a company that helps people who have been taken by companies who say they have a buyer for your timeshare ...they work on your behalf to get back the money you paid at a cost of 50% to you. You pay the cost only after you receive the money...there is no cost up front and none if they don't get your money back. They have an A- rating with BBB and it says they have only had one complaint against them. I would like to know if anyone else has dealt with them and your response before I commit any further. Thank you.
Exactly what stealth said. Stores DO NOT HAVE to take ANYTHING back. they could very well tell you to bugger off if they so choose. Every store has different conditions on returns. some stores don't do returns at all.. and please for the sake of intelligent brains everywhere.. PLEASE TYPE in some form of legible words. Doesn't even have to be English.. just something that someone somewhere can read..

About Aldi
One of Aldi's key strategies is its focus on private label products. The company sources its products directly from manufacturers, cutting out the middleman and passing on the savings to customers. This allows Aldi to offer a wide range of products at prices that are often significantly lower than those of its competitors.
In addition to its private label products, Aldi also offers a selection of branded products. However, the company is highly selective about the brands it carries, choosing only those that meet its strict quality standards. This approach has helped Aldi build a reputation for offering high-quality products at affordable prices.
Another key aspect of Aldi's business model is its focus on efficiency. The company operates with a lean staffing model, with stores typically staffed by just a handful of employees. This allows Aldi to keep its overhead costs low, which in turn allows the company to offer lower prices to customers.
Aldi is also known for its unique shopping experience. The company's stores are designed to be simple and easy to navigate, with products displayed in their shipping boxes rather than on shelves. This approach helps to keep costs low, as it eliminates the need for expensive shelving and display units.
Overall, Aldi has built a successful business by focusing on quality, efficiency, and affordability. The company's no-frills approach to grocery shopping has resonated with customers around the world, making Aldi one of the most successful supermarket chains in the world.
