Aldi Review: Cheap Deals, Poor Quality, and Unfriendly Staff
I've been shopping at Aldi for a good 6-7 years now since it came to our town. At first, I was really impressed with the store and went there weekly. However, my opinion has changed over time and now I only go there when I have to, which is usually because it's the closest store to my house. Here's why I think Aldi is a bit of a joke.
Firstly, the bread and fruit at Aldi don't last very long, maybe 1-2 days after you bring it home. I've noticed that they freeze everything, including fruit and bread. Next time you're at Aldi, feel the fruit and bread and you'll see how it's in the process of thawing. By the time you bring it home, it's almost like Cinderella turning into a pumpkin.
Secondly, the staff at Aldi are not very friendly. They seem to be more worried about their cashier times than actually helping customers. It's not a very welcoming environment.
On the other hand, Aldi does have some great tchotchkes, but again, they are not of the best quality. My advice is that if you need food for the same day, go to Aldi for a cheap deal. However, if you want to buy a non-food item, think first and see if you can find a better deal anywhere else.
If your food rots in a few days, don't hesitate to bring it back. Make sure you save your receipts! This company has made a killing off of me and everyone else by selling their old frozen produce and bread.
Overall, I'm done throwing my money out the door at Aldi and I think you all should be too. While they do have some good deals, the quality of their products and the unfriendly staff make it not worth it in the long run.
Aldis cat food several bags plus dog food.. Don't own dog only wanted treats. Cats won't eat their food but do like treats lol
Hi. I'm a customer of Aldis delivery. Have been happy with them this far. But on May 13 I ordered several cat treats which I believe were 1.76 each, believe I got 2&3 of each. I only have the cats which won't eat the dried nor wet cat food but do like the treats, so I only feed them name brand from Publix. But someone. Replaced that order with 2 big bags of dog food? Several big bags of cat food? I did not order any of these. I took a photo of receipt. And hopefully there's a copy of my shopping list. But being technically challenged, I've been trying to find it but haven't yet.
Desired outcome: I have photos but not sure how to put them on this format. I'm 70 and tech. Challenged lol
Cashier at Aldi Cutacre Ln, Bolton BL5 1FN, United Kingdom
Upon reaching the checkout, I was told by a cashier from another till that the lane I was heading towards was closed. However, moments later, an announcement over the sound system stated that the till had reopened. To add to my frustration, the cashier who served me placed her hand over the conveyor belt sensor, causing my groceries, including delicate items such as eggs and bread, to be squeezed together, resulting in squashed bread and stacked egg cartons.
Abusive treatment by aldi kaldenkirchen staff, yesterday, april 17th
I'm 78 years old retired university professor. I'd bought a Gardeline product from aldi, rosenstr, lobberich last week for 3.99 euros. Didn't keep the receipt. In my rucsac, in kaldenkirchen. They opened rucsac, asked for receipt. Checked on database in office. Said it's OK. I had to run for train. No apology from them. One just stood and stared. Crude and abusive.. Worst treatment in my life in a shop. I want compensation
Desired outcome: Compensation for distress caused
Today, 18th April, for the 2nd successive day, at the cashier, I was told to open my rucsac. No one else in the queue was told this. I'm 78, with, god forbid, long white hair. I could feel the cashier s gaze. Something tells me that their is a discriminatory policy at work, probably using profiling. Especially considering my age, I find utterly intolerable. I thought that this kind of behaviour (1930s and 1940s) was long gone. Clearly not. I will be seeking legal advice about this distressing abuse. Your publicity speaks of giving the customer a comfortable shopping experience. Really?
This took place at 14.29.
self- service check outs
At Camden Aldi, for months, 2 of the self-service check-outs have been out for months.
Why are these not fixed by now? It causes long queues with some customers giving up and going elsewhere.
If this is an IT issue, then why not change the IT Contractor for an IT Company who will fix them and keep them maintained?
Otherwise, they are on a 'gravy-train' income for bad service and taking Aldi for a ride.
And why, does Aldi at Camden & Finchley Rd always have more check-outs for Card only and fewer for Cash?
A lot of customers in these areas are not wealthy, are elderly or just prefer to use hard cash, but Aldi penalises them for using cash.
Come on Aldi fix the Cash check-outs and please provide equal numbers of the cash check-outs to the card ones. Thank you.
Desired outcome: Fix the cash check -outs at the Camden Stores and provide more cash check-outs at other Stores.
Clonbawn Irish Double Cream
I purchased the above item in Aldi Galway, (4 cartons); when I attempted to whip it it turned a rather strange color yellow and separated .
I am a diary farmer, I know exactly to expect from cream when it is whipped.
The Carton does not indicate that is any additive included.
Please investigate as a matter of urgency.
Thank you

Corn Beef Tip
Purchased a corn beef tip at Aldi's here in Dumfries, VA. when my wife opened it this morning to cook she cut off over a pound of fat...this thing is useless. So I had to drive to Shoppers this morning and purchase a useable/ccokable corn beef. VERY VERY SAD THAT WE CAN'T RELY ON A PRODUCT FROM THIS STORE.
ALDI'S IS A CHEAP CEAP STORE AND YOU GET GARBAGE THERE.
Desired outcome: apology
Frankfort KY store - Travis cashier
On March 13, 2023, I shopped in the Frankfort KY store. My receipt states that Travis was my checker. He also stated he was the assistant manager. He was the rudist human I have seen in a long time. He slammed my Blueberry muffins (3) on the counter because I had them stacked on top of each other. He then threw them in my cart. I purchased 16 Apple Mango Purees in the box that was on the shelf. He took them out of the box & after scanning each one - he threw each one into the cart so I had to gather them all back up & place them in the cart. He was continually verbally nasty to the lady behind me. She placed her small bag of items on the belt & he repeatedly told her to remove them from the bag, She informed him she would take them out when he got done with mine because there were no sticks to place between the orders & someone had started placing her things behind this lady.
When I was bagging my items a lady was standing & watching him. She told me he was also very rude to her & she was going to report him. He reminded me of someone who would explode at any minute. He does not need to be working a check out lane & dealing with customers one on one. I have been in numerous Aldis in Frankfort & Louisville KY & never encountered someone this rude. He needs to be reprimanded & removed from checking before he goes off & does something really bad.
Desired outcome: Do not allow him to be a checker,
Aldi's Forest Hills PA store
Today, 3/15/23, I bought Artisan lettuce at the Forest Hills PA store. When I got home and went to clean the lettuce the sticker on the package said sell by "3/13/23". This is a constant problem I have found to happen at this Forest Hills PA store. They keep produce out for sale after its useful sell by date. I didn't notice the date until I got home but...
Read full review of AldiCustomer service issue
I went to the Aldi in Fultondale Alabama on Saturday 3/11/23 between 12 and 1. On a sign in produce it had Organic Pears 1.79 for a 2lb pound bag. When I went to the register it rang up 3.99. So I told the clerk and she notified I guess the manager of the store. I told him what the sign read. Now I check the sign twice. But I told him to go and look at the sign. He went and checked the sign and he came back and said that the pears at the bottom shelf under the organic pears are 1.79 but not the organic ones. I went back there a 3rd time and now the sign has changed. In which he took the 1.79 sign from next to the organic pears and rearranged the prices. But what he failed to realize is that the sign that he replaced has 4.79 on them when they rang up 3.99. I looked at him in his face and told him that he changed the price and he said he didn't. But I know he did. I would have felt better if he just would have plainly said that he will not honor the prices instead of making it appear that I did not see what I saw. That left a bad taste in my mouth because I never experienced poor customer service there. Always a good customer friendly store most of time.
Desired outcome: Whatever it doesnt matter
Longwell green store
I visited your Longwell. Green Bristol store on Saturday approx 5.30pm, as I walked in there was a super buy basket so I stopped to take a look, then the large metal sign on the front of the basket fell off on to my big toe, the pain was terrible, once I was able to I informed a member of staff who got the very young manager, he said they shouldn’t just fall off so obviously wasn’t put on properly! The other member of staff pointed out that it was right infront of the cctv camera.
He asked if I was ok, I said no it hurts, he said sorry and that was it!
No offer of ice, wrote in an avbieeht book etc, the lack of care and consideration. Towards myself was terrible.
My toe is still very bruised and sore when I walk although I don’t think it’s broken.

Bertocchi " Roast Pork Loin "
WITHOUT PREJUDICE I have purchased Bertocchi Roast Pork Loin on 1 Mar 2023 . This product tasted as if was made ( ? ) from a week dead pig ! I ate a piece and vomited , gave a piece to a dog and the dog vomited , the cat wouldnt even touch it ! I will be sending a complaint against Australian managers employed by Aldi for Negligence and Mismanagement TO Aldi World Headquarters in Essen , Germany how Aldi's International reputation is Ruined as a reputable supermarket . This is Scandalous !
Desired outcome: I want my monies back I want a voucher to be compensated for my trust in Aldi being Totally abused !
corn fed chicken
i bought this chicken from your baguley branch, the bird looked like it had colouring dye on the skin, considerinrg it cost around £12 this was not what i expected, the quality of the bird after roasting was poor i spend a lot in your store and am fuming as to the quality of this bird, corn fed supposedly,i it's not like i can take it back to the store is it,
Desired outcome: reimbursement
Easy home folding utility cart
I have shopped at ALDI for several years and have always found the store clean and the staff helpful. If a product is defective, they have exchanged or refunded it quickly. A few weeks ago I bought an Easy Home Folding Utility Cart for a gift. Its packaging displays it with 2 braces that fit over the rim of the cart when in use to help stabilize it, however, nowhere on the cart can I find these support braces. The cart is not as effective without them. The store would probably give me a refund, but I have already given the cart as a gift and just want to get the braces. I can find no place to contact. Even this site was hard to find. The only phone number I found was 6 digits. I understand that many ALDI products are imported and therein may lie the biggest difference between ALDI and Made in America where there is at least a chance of finding an actual company headquarters or valid phone number to get some answers. I will continue to support ALDI as long as my experience there remains mainly good, but it is a Buyer Beware shopping experience.
Desired outcome: I would love to find out how to get the missing parts for this product but am not hopeful of this happening.
Not a discount store!
This store is not a discount store like they claim. Aldis knock off brands are sold at same prices as brand name merchandise! Do not buy these items. Aldi's prices are increasing every day. I have stopped buying these expensive knock off brands. Not only are these items way overpriced but they are so unhealthy and loaded with sugar and fillers that should not be priced at these ridiculously high prices.
Items I used to buy are not the same quality as they used to be but still have the same label on them and a higher price. The quantities are smaller with higher prices.
I will not shop at Aldi anymore. I have found another grocery store that is not doing this to consumers. I suggest everyone find another store for their better health.
No one should be paying these high prices for unhealthy knock off brand food!
You can buy healthier food for the same price anywhere else!
the current t.v.advertisement
I am disgusted in your recent t.v advertising, this is a country, based with strong Christian core values,
as we have sovereign ties to the royal family in England and are under a Christian rule,
I am appalled by the offensive suggestion that we came from prehistoric theories.
This advert, is very out of line with Australian values
and strongly feel it should be removed

Desired outcome: remove add with apoligies
Plain spoon size shredded wheat cereal
This is not so much a complaint of an incident, but more a strong suggestion. Most Aldi's cereals are loaded with sugar. I live in Ocala Florida. Most of us people who shop there are elderly, and cannot have sugar. Every time I go there I look at the cereals in hopes that there would be spoon size plain shredded wheat. But they are all sugary. This would be so great to find no sugar spoon size shredded wheat. Thank you for listening. On the other hand, thank you so much for stocking prunes at a reasonable price. Also, All of the checkout people are so very nice and friendly, and it makes it fun to go there. Even the people who are constantly stocking the shelves are so very friendly and helpful. People can make or break your day, but the people at Aldi's always make my day.
Desired outcome: I hope to see plain spoon size shredded wheat on the shelves
register operator
I am not sure of the lady's name who served me at 14:36 21.1.23 on terminal [protected] eftpos. This is at redbank plains store. I was getting served and she is not nice. The lady before me was asked for her bag to be hecked not in this manner
can i please check your bag. NO this is what was said BAG CHECK loudly and aggressively. Then my turn come my bag is under A4 size so should not need checking but is ok and generally i have no issue if asked nicely but not in the exact manner as above. IF this is now how I will be served at you store I will not bother shopping there again.
Desired outcome: Training as you will found that this bad behavior spreads. If she is the manager how about a store check with someone from another store she does not no.
Overcharging customers
Hello
The San Jacinto, California location is stealing money from customers and putting wrong prices on items or not at all. 5 times now, yes... 5 times, I've had to go back to the store for them to revise my total and refund me the money they overcharged me.
ALDIS San Jacinto, CA doesn't put sale pieces on weekly items that are advertised. On the other hand, they put the sale prices on items but charge us regular price. This location will leave off price pages on items, then charge you extra at register.
Corporate needs to investigate this San Jacinto, CA location.
Thanks
Oli
Desired outcome: A corporate investigation
Honey bbq chicken wings
Bought Kirkwood Honey BBQ Flavored chicken wings today 12-14-2022 at Aldi Store #163 2737 So Signal Butte Rd Mesa, AZ for $7.95. Package said: Use before April 2023 2005VBCO P-20287 (as much as I can make out on package)
There was hardly any chicken on the pieces. Only lots of fat and way too much breading. We had to cut the breading off to get to the small pieces of chicken. No way could you just take a regular bite, or all you would get would be fat. $7.95 is way too much money to spend for the small amount of chicken we managed to eat. I see a Twice as Nice guarantee on the package, so I would like a refund if you really do stand behind your product. Nita Miller 7807 East Main Street BB28 Mesa, AZ 85207
Thank you for your time.
Desired outcome: Refund of $7.95

About Aldi
One of Aldi's key strategies is its focus on private label products. The company sources its products directly from manufacturers, cutting out the middleman and passing on the savings to customers. This allows Aldi to offer a wide range of products at prices that are often significantly lower than those of its competitors.
In addition to its private label products, Aldi also offers a selection of branded products. However, the company is highly selective about the brands it carries, choosing only those that meet its strict quality standards. This approach has helped Aldi build a reputation for offering high-quality products at affordable prices.
Another key aspect of Aldi's business model is its focus on efficiency. The company operates with a lean staffing model, with stores typically staffed by just a handful of employees. This allows Aldi to keep its overhead costs low, which in turn allows the company to offer lower prices to customers.
Aldi is also known for its unique shopping experience. The company's stores are designed to be simple and easy to navigate, with products displayed in their shipping boxes rather than on shelves. This approach helps to keep costs low, as it eliminates the need for expensive shelving and display units.
Overall, Aldi has built a successful business by focusing on quality, efficiency, and affordability. The company's no-frills approach to grocery shopping has resonated with customers around the world, making Aldi one of the most successful supermarket chains in the world.
