gift return issue
I went to the Belk in Norcross today to return an $80 bottle of perfume that my husband bought me for Christmas. Just to be safe I looked on his dresser and found the gift receipt and the purchase receipt. I didn't want to hurt his feelings but he had bought the same perfume last year and I still had 1/2 bottle remaining. I explained to Lupina the clerk that I didn't want to hurt my husbands feelings and I would get something else. She said I had to have the original receipt and good thing I did or else I would only get 50% of the $80 value. She then took the receipt and issued a credit to his credit card. This made no sense to me. I thought with a gift receipt or even the original receipt you could at least get a Belk card worth the same value. When I questioned the fact that she issued the money back to my husband's card she told me to ask him for the money. I will never buy gifts in there again because the recipient won't be able to return

73009 Sam is the agent that I spoke with and he stated he was hanging up on me because I wanted to speak with a supervisor...well he hung up...I ordered a pair if $49.99 boots and paid $85.81. I ordered the shoes for a family portrait and then belk.com cancelled my order at the last minute because there system had a malfunction. So they found the shoes a another location and informed me to have the shoe shipped overnight and they would reimburse me the overnight charges a long with 10% off the sale price of the shoe. I should have only paid $39.99 for these shoes...now when I call back all the representatives acting like they don't know what I'm talking about ...Joseph was the 1st rep I spoke to who said he was a supervisor...spoke to Paul ext Id 72962 who stated he was a supervisor and informed me I was lied to...
being ignored
This incident happened Dec.26, 2017. My husband was shopping for shoes. We could not get anyone to help us. Even after going and asking for help. It was like we were invisible. So we figured they did not want our business. That night Belk's lost a sale of about $90.00. Just wanted you to know the kind of employees you have at some of your stores. When you work with the public you have to acknowledge the customer if it is to say I will be right with you. I have worked with the public in the past at Sears and work with the public now in my business you can not ignore the customer. The customers is what helps keep the store open. Maybe the employees needs more training. Thank you for reading my complaint.

I was returning items at Balk Store # 0544on 12/26/2017, around 10:00 am to 10:30 AM and the associate (Patricia) told me that should couldn't take back the item without the tag, even though I had the receipt. I was told that it wasn't her jog to look for the price and it wasn't from her department. She said I had to go the children department and let the associate over their look it up. I had already been in line for 20 minutes. I then went to a different department and the other associates exchanged it for me. I have been a loyal customer at Balk for more than 20 years and this is the 1st that I have treated this way. In the same store at the shoe department we were there tonight and they said if we had the receipt they would exchange anything from any department. Why is the rules different in Men Clothing which I is the department that she works in? She doesn't know or doesn't want to look for prices from other departments and that is not part of her job. All she had to do was look at receipt and scan it back on my card. If you could correct this issue I would appreciate it.
misleading policy/pricing/coupon
I have a coupon for $50 off $100 which I felt was a great deal. I made sure to avoid items that were excluded. My total came to a little over $100. The coupon didn't work. I checked the exclusions and my purchases should have gone through. When I talked to the sales associate manager, he said that 2 items- two belts were on clearance. There were no red marks or any reduced prices on the belt tags and the belts weren't on a clearance rack (no signs). I feel this is intentionally misleading and Belk should honor their coupons. Those belts were not marked down! Further, on a separate transaction of all reduced items, all but 2 of the items were on the $4.99 rack. Yet, 3 of the items rang up considerably more. I order and purchase from Belk frequently, but I am very upset that the coupon was not honored. My future with Belk will be determined by your response.

I bought a joujou girls 7-16 princess coat with belt in white three months ago for my lovely daughter for wearing outside, especially, when it's rainy. It never arrived. She doesn't even need it now because it got cold and this coat would be useless. I'd rather shop elsewhere.
I contacted them numerous time to find out where my order was. I only heard excuses and reasons, but all of them sounded lame. I requested a refund then and been waiting for it for 3 weeks.
It's an absolutely appalling place for shipping. Never again, as I said at the very beginning.

Around 12:30 today, Saturday, 12/16. I called, to place an order, her name was Cindy Williams... She didn't give a name or say thank you for calling, belk, just said llike hello or something... I had to repeat a number for an item, wallet and till I ask she didn't tell me it wasn't available... her customer service was terrible and I ask to speak to someone else, she ask why, I started telling her and she hung up on me... I called back, spoke w, Brittany, who was lovely, courteous and got my order placed...
I told her what happened which she tried to transfer to a supervisor, but couldn't get through and she, gave me the first persons name.. I love Belk a nd have always received great customer service.. I was trying to give the first person the benefit of a doubt because of the holiday... Thank you for your time in this matter.

I am Charnell Mazyck and I would like to complain about how i was treated by Ms. Betty as I was trying to check out. As I proceeded to check out I tried to tell Ms Betty that I had 10 dollar reward gift card. As I am trying to say that, she kept cutting me off as if she already knew what I had and was quick to say " you cant use anything else or receive any more discounts" I said ma'am... she cut me off again telling me nothing else is accepted. Meanwhile people are behind me in line looking at me stupid. Finally the 3rd time I said Ms Betty I have a 10 dollar reward I should be able to use it anytime. Now she is like OOOh Ok! Now if she had just took the time to let me finish explain what I have, I think my transaction would have went smooth. As I was trying to pull up my reward number she did call someone because i couldn't pull it up on my phone again due to no service. I thanked her for that. I guess she felt bad after speaking to me rudely about it when in the end I was right. Now after I paid I ask Ms. Betty for a gift box. Now she makes it out as if she is not suppose to give it out. Even if I had to buy it I would have because I was on my way to a birthday party and did not want to make another stop. She gave me a huge white box that was entirely too big for what I bought vs giving me the small pretty Belk box I asked for. That was the icing on the cake. I shop at Belk quit often and this visit really upset me and I just had to let it be known.

I am very disappointed with Belk's policy to prevent the Salvation Army from ringing the bell outside their stores. Belk wants customers to run into the store and purchase all their Christmas gifts from them but do not mention the word Christmas. The Salvation Army does an incredible job helping communities bring joy to children doing the Christmas season. I have always shopped at Belk for Christmas gifts but this year have and will refrain from giving an money (profit) to a company that does not see the good this organization does within the community. I plan to cancel my credit card and going forward will support businesses that do not feel the need to make a political statement about the Christian faith. I stopped using Target and have not missed it and will now stop using Belk.

This complaint is in response to your company executives deciding against allowing the Salvation Army to ring their bells for charity during the CHRISTMAS holidays. If you can cut off the Salvation Army, what else are you doing? Walmart quit saying Merry Christmas until it got to where it was obvious it was hurting their business. Are you going to ban the Salvation Army until that happens to Belks as it will, you know? There is absolutely no reason to stop them from collecting for the poor in front of your stores in America-their is no cost to Belks.
I have shopped at Belks for years but now I am done unless Belks revises it policy.

I would like to make a complaint about the store in Conway, SC. The store is filthy. Floors needed mopping, carpet was filthy, dressing rooms smelled, Bathroom was filthy. This was not just from the influx of Christmas shopping. This Belk has been in our small town for many years and I've never seen it such a mess. I would be embarrassed to take an out of town guest there. Also, there was only make be 3 visible clerks & only 1 that was helpful.

It's disgraceful that you would ban Salvation Army from your stores this Christmas from ringing their bells. Salvation Army is a credible and well-respected ministry that benefits many Americans. It doesn't cost you anything and people voluntarily give.
Your action is mean spirited and anti-Christians. So until you stop boycotting Salvation Army, I'll be BOYCOTTING BELK! Merry Christmas!
I am so sick and tired of the anti-Christian feeling in America. Belk has taken a stand. Well we Christians are taking a stand as well. Many of us will not be shopping at Belk this Christmas season. Their executives should take a look at. Targett. Conservatives have been boycotting Target and their bottom line is hurting!

I am saddened at Belks decision to not allow the salvation army to collect donations any longer. What a joke that they believe people will buy this line about Belk funding something else instead ... they werent funding the Salvation Army! It is a blatant misguided attempt at political correctness to avoid offending someone that has not only offended millions but has also hurt the Salvation Army's ability to help those less fortunate. I will not shop at Belks as long as this policy stands.

I have over the past year tried to purchase several items on sale with a coupon for 20% off on any regular or sale price item. Both occasions I was decline saying those are name brand items that are in stated in the fine print are excluded. On November 23 I was shopping in belk on Atlantic blvd, Florida. I over heard an employee by the name of Patricia yelling at two Phillipino employees. Telling them the only reason they are hear in this country is to try to be citizens. That this was her country and they were immigrants.That they were just phillipinos. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated. The employee needs to be delt with. This is so racist. Does belk not screen there employees. In front of customers on the sales floor. I purchased this purse earlier in the summer and paid about $60 for it .. I love the purse .. however I am disappointed in the quality of the handles on the purse .. they have cracked and peeled and makes the purse look ugly.. and embarrassing to use as The Body of the purse is like new . Can the handles be replaced ? I would very much appreciate some help with this ..

declined credit card
I have been a long term customer with Belks and always make monthly payments on time. I had a credit limit of $500. I made a $230 payment for Nov. 2017 in order to purchase a purse I wanted at the CHARITY DAY SALE in November. My available balance at this time was $278. My Belks card was declined at the register when I attempted to purchase the Brahmin purse. I called customer service from the store and was informed that the payment I made to the Belks card had not posted to the card yet and it would take two days to post to my Belks card. Customer service also said that I was penalized a late fee of $25.00, although, the payment I made to the Belks card was on Nov. 2nd, and the due date for the card payment was Nov. 10th.
In addition, the $230.00 had already been debited from my banking account. Needless to say, the cashier held the purse for me at the Belk's store in order to allow time for the funds to post to the Belk's card, however, the purses cost wasn't the same price 2 days later. I did not make the purchase.
This past Friday, Nov. 20.. I attempted to use my card again for a purchase of $85.00 for a birthday gift. It was DECLINED. I called customer service again from the store and was informed that my credit limit had been dropped to $250.00.. Therefore, now I would only have $10.00 available to spend. I have had problem after problem with Belks credit and I really wish that another department store was in the area that offered similar sales and bargains and a line of credit. I have been humiliated and embarrassed time and time again in Belks. Once I get this card paid off I will be taking my business elsewhere.
It is common for funds to be deducted from your payment account and not immediately post to your credit card/available balance. Unfortunately it can also be common for credit card companies to decrease or even eliminate your available credit at any time at their discretion. I'm unsure about your late fee however. Did you ask why the fee was assessed when you paid several days prior to your due date?
I am filing a complaint due to poor customer service experience with a employee.
On 11/11/2017 around 3pm I was shopping at the belk store (553), as I proceed to check out while standing in line for over 10 mins or more. I noticed that the employee (Nadine) was. Checking caucasian out and being very pleasant to them but not me, a customer realized she got the wrong merchandise and needed to get the correct item, in the mean time the employee proceed to check. A caucasion shopper out in between time. I was next in line when the employee told me I had to wait to check out because she was waiting on the first customer to come back and couldnt check me out. I asked to speak with a manager nadine became agitated and said no what do you need a manager for. I informed her that I dont aporeciate her checking caucasian out but having me to wait for her own selfish prejudice reasons. Nadine never got management. I dont feel I was treated with the respect she provided to other races. She acted in a very prejeduice way by not value ing my time as she did others.

I went in as I was preparing for a trip to Wilmington for work to get some much needed foundation. I tried to speak to the girl about different foundations. I have always worn pebble - double wear. She was really busy. She gave me a sample of a new kind and I bought my regular I have been using for many many years. I had received my estee lauder free gift paper in the mail. I really needed lipstick so I decided to get it. I agreed to upgrade the gift. I told them I would get waterproof mascara. They were out of the waterproof and the scrumptous I normally use in the gold tube. I settled for the one in the navy tube - I think it is called double wear. Well, I went to my conference and got busy when I got back and I really did like the sample. I opened my package and realized I did not get my lipstick. I did use my mascara and do not like it like the waterproof or the scrumptous. I can hardly get any out or see it when I put it on. Anyways, I realized I did not get my lipstick. I did get blush. That was the choice the lady ask me about. Blush or brownser. I didn't need brownser since I had a big one from Estee Lauder already. On November 2 at 1131 I called back to the Belk store in Salisbury and explained to the estee lauder lady I didn't get my lipstick and she said to come in and she would fix it for me. So, on November 7 I went drove to belk in Salisbury on my way home from work (I work out of town) and no one was working the Estee Lauder Counter. I finally found a nice tall black lady who offered to help me. She asked the clinque lady something and she was snotty. The nice tall lady did go to the back to look for lipstick and there was none she said. Then the clinque lady said it was a choice of the lip liner and gloss or lipstick. No one told me that before and I didn't want lip liner or gloss I wanted lipstick. I was very upset because why didn't the Lauder lady explain that to me when I called? I took everything I had gotten with me like she told me to do when I went to the store, my receipt, my free gift bags and my products. I had wanted to get the new foundation I tried and talk to her about the mascara as well. I would not have bought 79.00 worth of products if I was not getting lipstick as a free gift. I also bought a pump which I have not used or probably wont to get the free gift. I went to the car to get my Estee Lauder Free gift choice brochure to show the lady where I was mislead by the cover. I showed it to her. I didn't want her to think i was lying. It shows lipstick on the front cover. She showed me on the back I should have got blush, lip liner and gloss or blush and 2 lipsticks. The blush and 2 lipsticks is what I wanted and thought I was getting. I do not like the color of the gloss or liner. I am very disappointed. I think she should have gave me the lipstick like I was told I would get when i returned to the store after the lady told me to bring my receipt and everything. It was not her problem. She was nice but not a Estee Lauder person. I don't know why no Estée lauder people were working. the only person working in cosmetics was clinque. i think i should at least get some lipstick sample or something for my trouble. I would not have drove out of my way to come back to the store and especially in Salisbury since it is not safe anymore at night to get out. I am very disappointed. I have been so disappointed in that Estee Lauder dept. the last three visits. The last eye liner I bought stopped working halfway thru and I took it back and showed the girl. The Estée pencil sharpener i was using was sharpening it but the liner would fall out = they would not replace it. I have been wearing Estée lauder since the 70's. I hope you will improve customer service. I am not happy I didn't get lipstick with my free gift. I am on a budget and to spend 85.00 on makeup is a treat. I really needed lipstick or I wouldn't have got the upgrade. I would have only bought the foundation and get one gift. I sprugled. my receipt number is 9350 transaction code - associate was Emily, 10-14-17 244pm store 0416 - reg 0905 total spent was 85.06. i bought pebble foundation double wear, pump and mascara. I also wanted to try some more samples and talk to an Estee lauder person but no one was available. I am very disappointed.

Have been a customer of belks for 25 years... Always pay on time... Never delinquent... Have charged hundreds of dollars in past... Desired to buy 4 shirts and a tie today...$176.00... Handed my credit card to clerk... She said it was denied... I ask "why"?... She was on phone with someone... They said because of my overall poor credit rating... I was limited to $124.00... I thanked the clerk (Not her issue)... Got on my phone and called credit department... The lady (Sidney) there said the same thing... I expressed my disappointment and surprise since I have a sterling credit rating... I told her to cancel my credit card with belks... Came home and checked my overall credit rating: transunion = 774...
Equifax=802... Both excellent... I called the home office in charlotte. Talked with a young man (Michael)... Explained the same thing to him... He took notes and said he would pass it along to the appropriate department... I requested that they get back in touch with me... I want to know who made the decision that my credit rating was poor and how they reached that conclusion... I refuse to go to belks in the future... So sad: (Nov. 3, 2017 — at 3:30 - mt. Berry square mall in rome, georgia)... All personnel were very polite but simply did the thing that is done today... They passed it along to someone else?
I just experienced the same thing with my card! I live in a rural area and access to other department stores is limited but if a competitor such as Dillard's or Macy's was in the area. this store would lose a lot of business.
