ceramic votive holders
I picked up 3 Ceramic Votive Holders on an endcap facing the entrance to the Rosecrans Ave location in Gardena; the price on the large sign was $5.16. This covered various objects which were turquoise and beach coral themed items. It was near closing time of the store (9:00 pm) and I brought the items (and additional items) to Ashley the cashier for purchase. I asked how much the ceramic pots were because the total sounded a bit higher than expected. She said they were $7.00 each but I stated and pointed to the sign where you can clearly see the price. She said it was suppose to be $5-$16 instead of $5.16 but I quickly responded with retail, you honor the price listed on the signage regardless of a mistake made by the store. She would not adjust the price. I was already interested in purchasing a $150 kitchen cart and/or a $30-$70 greenhouse (the reason for my visit) and was going to come back tomorrow for them but since this poor conduct of customer service received by this individual, I will not be coming back for either. This is unfortunate since I was assisted by 2 other sales floor employees that were very helpful.
hoover dual power max carpet cleaner
I went to Big Lots store #4350 in Escondido this evening, where I purchased a carpet cleaner at for $79.99. The box was retaped, as were ALL of the other boxes on the sales floor. So I grabbed the box that looked the least damaged. When I got home, I realized that the box states that it was remanufactured. Wanting a NEW one, I got back in the car, drove back to the store, and went in to return it. The manager on duty, by the name of Akram, asked the cashier for some scissors because the box was retaped. When she opened the box, she said she wouldn't do the return because the product inside wasn't the item that was suppose to be in the box. It wasn't even a carpet cleaner in there. It was a vacuum cleaner, and it was a used one! So not only, did I purchase an old used piece of ####, that was on their sales floor, I wasn't getting my money back either. So I got pissed off and told her that's ####, they sold it to me exactly that way! And the reciept clearly states, "merchandise must be in its original condition as of the day it was purchased". Well I'm pretty sure that since I never even opened the damn box, it's in its original state. But she continued to argue with me, in front of other customers who were in line behind me. She humiliated me, and I felt as if she was insinuating that I had done this. She told me she would email the district manager about it, and to come back in the morning to speak with the store manager Tim. On my way out the door with this #### I bought there, she made it a point to tell me she isn't judging me. Whatever. So I'm out $80, and labeled as something that I'm not, humiliated, and I still have dirty carpet. Whatever happened to treating the customer with respect? We, the customers, are the reason why you are still employed. Just think about that. So tomorrow, I get to waste more gas, to drive there again, and this time, I hope the store manager has the decency to not only apologize for her actions, but also refund my hard earned money and maybe retrain his management about customer service, and how to actually apply it so we only have positive things to write in about. Because I'm seriously pissed about how I was treated today.
assault by a store clerk
I was in the Greer store location yesterday March 22, 2017. I had lost my $20.00" s it was the last money I had for the month. I am mentality and physically disabled and I have severe panic attack disorder and I was in a frenzy trying to find my money to buy the items that I had. I was walking around the store to check everywhere I had been in the store because I had already went to the parking lot and my car looking for my money but I didn't find there so I was hoping that I had dropped my money in the store. I even asked a black man who was stocking the shelves if he or any else had possibility found the money by any chance. He stated no. I proceeded to go to the front of the store and by this time I was in a bad panic attack. All of a sudden the cashier ran up behind me and punched me coming around the right side of my neck and hitting me in the Left jaw. Then while using her arm shi lifted me off of my feet and then slammed me to the floor into my back. I just had very serious abdominal surgery last week and I could have had a falal injury because of this attack on me. I am going to go to my doctor tomorrow and get my incision examined and my neck jaw and back because I am in serious pain from this employee attacking me and choke slamming me to the floor. She accused me of trying to steal merchandice that I had in my left arm it was every where plus she ripped my purse from my arms and then dumped my medicine and wallet and my nail polishes every where as I was still laying on the floor in pain and shock trying to figure out what just happend to me. The employee then identified herself as a store employee then accused me of stealing the socks that were in my arms plus she said that my nail polishes that I had in my purse were not mine and then took my nail polishes that I had from polishing my neighbor's nail the night before. I finally gathered up my medicines that were everywhere and my wallet. It took me a good time to be able to get up off the floor. I was even on the phone talking with my husband about losing my money the whole time so he heard everything that I have just told you. He had me come home and told me to be calm. So I am going to be waiting to get a response from this company. Hopefully I will have a response from this company, to decide what I need to resolve this serious attack both physically and mentally nature. Thank you

unethical behavior / carrie the rude manager
Went to the cashier to pay all the items that I got. But one of them has no price tag. It was the last one and it was from their Christmas items so I was expecting it would be on sale. The manager named Carrie happened to be beside Ana w/c is the cashier who helped me w/ my stuff. Ana saw the item with no price tag and so she asked Carrie if she know what the price is. And she said that its a Christmas item but its back on a regular price then she told Ana to charge me $10 for a Christmas item which supposed to be on sale and then she told Ana to asked me if I still want the item and I said yes. So Carrie looked at some papers where the items in the store is listed but no luck. Ana is so nice to looked around the store to see if there is anything that is similar to that item and Ana is so patient to even looked it up in their system. Then Ana looked around again in the store and still no luck. But she came back with a new item to probably check the bar code so that maybe it would be a lot easier for her to find the item in their system. Then I heard Carrie told Ana "charge her $12 for it" then I was like, what?! Saw that the line is getting long, so I asked Ana how much is the item that she came back with? She said that it's $8. I got upset because it has the same size as the item that I wanted and Carrie wants to charge me $12 for a Christmas item that is suppose to be on sale? I just decide to get the item that Ana brought instead. And when Carrie heard that I will get the other item, she just walked away with a smirk on her face.
My complaints:
1. Why is she still employed in your company? She can't do her job right. She doesn't even have the patience to deal with that kind of situation. She should be ashamed of her self. If that is the kind of person you guys hire, you will not only lose customers.. You will lose a lot of your employees too. Please be wise.
2. How could she work with that kind of attitude in a retail environment? I understand that we all have problems. But please, do not bring it to work. If you don't feel like working or cannot handle the stress, take a break or might as well quit.
3. She can't treat anybody like that. Just because she's miserable, it doesn't mean people has to be too. Don't spread it. Please be professional.
4. $4 might not be too much for her, but it has a huge impact to other people. So, don't be abusive.
faulty recliner
Conroe Cuddle Up Recliner SKU# [protected]
We purchase the recliner on 09/18/16 for $446.89. The switch to make the recliner open has always been stiff and we thought that this was normal until this week 01/22/17 when the switch broke. The recliner now does not recline. On Monday, 01/23/17, I called the Van Nuys store on 7241 Sepulveda more than 4 times, each time staying on hold for more than 15 minutes, and the last time more than 30 minutes. I was told that the furniture person was not there that I should call back. Finally, I was able to speak to the furniture person "Ronald" who basically told me that he could not help, that I needed to call back tomorrow when "Paul" the furniture manager was in office and he could help. Therefore, I called this morning to be told that "Paul" would not be in again today. My husband left work to go into the store as I became very frustrated staying on hold with no response. The lady told him that the only option we had was to bring in the chair ourselves and they would issue a $200 store credit. We explained that we wanted a replacement, as my husband tested the exact recliner model in the store, and the switch was not stiff and worked perfectly. She said that either we keep the broken recliner or take the store credit.
Neither of these options are fair. If the switch was faulty and they have the exact recliner in stick, which they do, I think it is a fair request to replace it for the new one.
I added a copy of my receipt for the chair to this complaint, a
I also added a video of how the switch is supposed to work (based on the one in the store today), the one they sold us NEVER worked like that!
the manager
I'm a ex employee of store 182 in Owensboro ky, the manager Teresa hudson was so rude to me now that I don't work there she asked could she help me with anything then I told her I came in to get drinks... I walked back to furniture and was asking furniture manager a question she follo re me back there and said " thought you where only getting a drink " I should not be treated like that as a customer and followed around the store and then she went up front and was talking about me to employees
chocolate big one recliner "big daddy is how big lots refer to it.
SKU#[protected], the springs that recliners back and forward snapped. We went to big lot and they could not help us they claim they don't carry this chair anymore, could not give us any information. In the meantime the recliner does not stay down, you can bring it down when you get off but the feet rest goes right back up. All we need is a spring and directions as to how to put it on.
Thank you,
Yolanda, M
[protected] Luis,
Big lots gave me a spring off a frame they kept for parts. I could not match the place their springs went as my chair is older. Your pictures matched and I thank you for posting.
Thanks for taking the time to post your comment Sandra, the pictures were so helpful and my husband connected the spring in no time. Looked for diagram or videos on the internet...no luck. After a lot of searching I found your pictures and fixed my recliner. We had the spring made locally and paid less than half your price for the spring.
I have the same exact chair and I love it, last week my spring broke, I ordered one from Amazon 4-3/4" long with one inch hook on each end 3/8" in diameter. It was very easy to put on and is working perfectly. It is rather pricy for a spring $20, but cheaper than buying a new chair. I bought mine last year in February at Big Lots. I am a 73 year old female and if I can put it on, you can. See my photos below. I went to Big Lots last year and took photo of where spring goes, as spring slipped off last year. Good Luck
employment store 4602 big lots
This place is one of the worst places to work. Store associates are only hired on part time only. They say flexiable schedule---thats a load of crap. You are expected to have an open ended schedule. If you need to modify your sched for any reason you automaticly don't get any hours. Only those that have fully open schedule get some hours. They never schedule enough people to work thyough out the day---so there is no customer service. The regional manager is an a**hole to all the staff members. I worked at big lots 4602. So glad I don't work for them anymore.
my 60 year old brother fell and nobody help or even ask how his doing
Today april 24, 2016 at approximately 12;25 to 12;30 pm my brother fell down to the floor because a iron rack is not in good condition and it is very dangerous.my brother is 60 year old and fell from the corner of the bad condition of the rack.l told an employee that my brother had fallen down an that nobody even aked if we was okay.He told me that he was the only employee of the floor. This happened at the BIGLOTS on Laredo Texas Saunders Street.I was very upset because the employees didn't show any remorse or attention.Very disappointed.
staff
I work at the Big Lots here in Colorado and I have never seen such poor management, and not just the management but the company overall is a sham. They offer no benefits, little to nothing pay raises after a year, and don't change a thing when they receive a complaint. They make the women go in at 4am to unload trucks and will still have their nerve to be angry with them when they don't have it unloaded on time. If you look around the store, the men are busy yapping to one another or hiding in the office or break room. One of the managers was addressed about him taking too long of breaks and being extremely rude when workers ask to use the restroom and he didn't get a write up and continued to do it. Also, all the people that work here act like it's junior high all over again and they are constantly gossiping about everyone that works there. And lastly, the boss was having an affair with one of the employees and still was able to keep his position. DO NOT WORK HERE.
other complaints
I'm not an employee. I've never been an employee. I agree with the posters who say "this is their policy, they say it up front, deal with it."
I don't buy at Big Lots on the items I will need more than 30 days to assess. I keep my receipts, and I'm careful to check out their products in time.
They set rules to keep their prices down. It prevents thieves from picking items off the shelf to return for store credit. They have many temporary or occasional items that can't be added back to stock.
So be aware. Be mature. See the rules. And buy accordingly. If you want more time, and no receipt, shop elsewhere. If you want the extra savings, don't gripe about the policy that makes it possible.
I came to google search, just to verify the policy because I want to return something, and didn't want to go past the return time. You can do the same!
I'm a software developer with a BS from a good university, and a relevant job. I have never worked at BLs. I don't personally know anyone who does. (I have a neighbor who worked for CVS but that doesn't count.) So just so you know, it doesn't take being an employee to have the opinion I have.
rude manager
I received an item from big lots. In Murphy nc but it did not work. I went to return the item but didn't have a receipt because it was a gift. I was told by the cashier that I couldn't return it without a receipt. I asked to speak to the store manager. They paged Angie over head. She proceeded to tell me no receipt no return and if I didn't like it not to shop there they didn't need my business anyway. Well don't worry they will not receive my business any longer. I will not shop at a business th a doesn't need my money and has such awful store managers.
furniture
Their Simmons Manhattan recliner and sofa peel and crack ridiculously quickly. I have owned both items for two and a half years and have rarely used them and now they are beginning to crack! They crack on the upper cushion where one's head or neck would rest. No wonder why they won't sell an extended warranty on the furniture. If the furniture was so fragile, I am surprised that there is no label or manual describing proper care and maintenance to prevent this quick deterioration.
service

bg lots was rude to me never said they were sorry in several lines to return single item
don't buy from them, ‘coz you will get nothing from them
I placed the order on the website www.biglots.com. I choose some stuff for the Christmas, and it was mentioned that the items were available. So I placed the order and paid for it, but after several days I got the email that my items were sold out and they offered other things, but I wanted to get my money back. The seller hasn’t provided any response. These people are scammers and liars, who take money and provide nothing. Please post your comments about this company.
complaint of poorly made furniture
I purchased a bed, dresser, mattress, box spring, sofa and recliner. I had to rent a truck and pay people to help me take this furniture home and set it up. When we open the box that contained the sofa the back was not properly nailed on. Did not want to go through the trouble of returning it so we hammered it down, it was going up against a wall. Now we...

The Release Mechanism had broken within a year of purchase. I can not locate a replacement. Nobody seems to know where I can find this mechanism. The recliner can not recline without it.. A subsitute from another recliner can work. But as I mentioned, I do not have a clue where to find one. I would fix it, if I could get the Parts. Please advise!

Currently using a rope to pull the recliner open which looks very tacky...Big Lots said to get ahold of stratolounger which I can't seem to find them...

I purchased the same chair and yes the handle broke on mine as well. I found my paper work and was able to get up with the company and order the part I needed for $5.00. The chair is made by American Furniture, 604 Pontotoc Country Industrial Park Road, Ecru, Ms 38841. For some reason I didn't save their Phone number, They were very friendly and helpful. You have to send them a check and they will send you the part. Took only a few minuets to put in.

rue manager
My daughter and I went to the store looking for a Tablet that I had seen on advertised on my computer. First we could not find anyone to help us, when we did find the Tablet it had another price? I had received the ad on line with the date of it's sale date, yet when I asked for the tablet I was told they had none.. I asked for the manager and she didn't even look just told me rudely "We Have None and the sale starts next Saturday anyway!" I went to their store in Hicksville and guess what I found it! On sale and with all the help I wanted! SO WHY THE DIFFRENCE OF THE TWO STORES?
Is it because of the different locations of the two stores?
SHAME ON THEM!
