On 12/19 I reserved a car ([protected]) for 2pm pickup from Laguardia Airport. I worked late and ended up getting the car at 5:16pm. I asked the gentleman if I would have an issue returning the car to Brandon Town Center since I picked it up after the scheduled time, and was told "whatever time you pick it up, is the time you return it". At 4:40 I arrive at Brandon Town Center to return the car, only to find they were closed. I called Customer Service and spoke with Rodney who insisted there was a drop box there. There was no drop box! I called Customer Service again and spoke with Renee badge# 842901 or 847901 and was told that I would be billed for returning the vehicle late. I explained to her I picked it up late and was actually returning it on time. She rudely, informed me I could not leave it there, and would be billed additionally if I didn't take it to the airport location by 6pm. I escalated the matter and was placed on hold . I was able to speak with JR #39048 who was abrasive and told me I was wasting time speaking to him rather than trying to get the car to the airport. I was flummoxed! I told him I had no transportation as I am here dealing with a personal family matter. He said Budget can offer to credit up to $50 for an Uber from Tampa International to Apollo Beach. I asked him if that is the way he speaks to Customers, and not even then did his manner change. In the end, after what seemed like an eternity, he stated he would note my account/ reservation to have the original rate of $174.02 honored. He said my account would be billed additionally, but would be credited back to the original amount of $174.02 within 3-5 business days. I told him he should be apologizing and offering me a discount for the misinformation and inconvenience. Both employees refused to give me their last names, or to email me regarding the conversation, or what was promised. I am hoping the phone calls are truly recorded so you can listen to the employees that are representing Budget.
