Caliber Collision Centers Unauthorized repair of different part of the vehicle

I recently took my vehicle to Caliber Collision in Indian Land, SC. I was given an estimate of under 1,800.00. I received a call from the little girl at the front desk, name Paige stating that the estimate was low and it would be over 5,000.00. I had filed an insurance claim and had hoped to keep the cost below 1,800.00, but understood that there could be issues that were not visible until the car was taken apart, I'm a reasonable person and I just accepted that would be the cost for the front driver quarter panel. At that time, I inquired about some additional bodywork for an entirely different part of the car ( back rear quarter panel, which simple had a back up light busted from another car backing into me in a parking lot) and after hearing what the cost could be, I told Paige, I would take care of that repair myself and I decided to take the car to a friend that could simple replace the rear back up light, to avoid another claim, since they couldn't repair the back without a new claim. Paige contacted me about a week later stating that they had almost completed the repairs for the back up light and replaced the back bumper, which simply had paint on it. I never received an estimate and I never approved this repair. I still don't know how much this is going to cost me, since no one will return my calls, including the shop manager. The smacks of a bait and switch and I know that they will not release my car and hold it hostage, until the balance is paid, which part of this is out of pocket pay I never agreed to. I absolutely did not authorize the rear repair. This is wrong on lots of different levels and I want others not to fall victim to a company that operates like this.

Desired outcome: Refund on unauthorized rear light repair.

Caliber Collision Centers Vehicle paint repair

Caliber Collision in Virginia Beach Virginia (Cleveland Street) repainted the passenger side bed and door of my 2006 Chevrolet truck.
The work work I requested was completed in the first week of December, 2022.
Upon picking up the truck, I complained about the paint appearance. I was told to wait about a month for the paint to cure, and then come back so they could try to improve the appearance. I immediately went to another local body shop and was told the problem was caused by improper sanding. They called it "short blocking".

After waiting a month, I decided to accept the imperfect paint job rather than have them try to fix.
I only drove the truck a couple of times during that month. Each time I drove it I noticed some new problems that needed repair. 1. The passenger door power window would go down but would not go up. 2. The fuel hose housing was disconnected and the parts were missing for reattaching. I couldn't imagine these things were related to the paint repair, but it turns out both of these issues were caused by Caliber technicians. The inside door panel was removed, damaged, and not properly replaced; that prevented the window from working. Also, I found out that the truck bed was removed and when it was replaced, the fuel filler housing was removed and not reattached. I found out about this when I was at the gas pump and there was nothing behind the door where you insert the gas nozzle. This could have caused a serious or deadly fuel leak.

I took the vehicle back to Caliber yesterday. They were friendly and cooperative and got the window working. I had already reattached the fuel line because I thought that was something that they didn't do.
Now that I have found out how my truck was taken apart and not properly reassembled, I have noticed a problem with one of the rear lights. Because they removed the bed and disconnected the wiring harnesses, I think they also caused that problem.
I want a full inspection of the bed bolts, the wiring harnesses, the door panel condition, and I want the proper replacement parts for the fuel filter housing. I concerned about what else is going to happen.
Contact me at [protected]@hotmail.com

Desired outcome: Complete inspection of the reassembly of parts.

Caliber collision has continued to fail in repairing my vehicle. They have had it for months and have been incredibly unhelpful in giving any accurate information as to when my car will be complete. They continuously push back my car’s completion date without explanation as to why. When I call to check on my vehicle, they are unnecessarily rude giving off the vibe that they are annoyed that I called in the first place.

Caliber Collision Centers Not Fixed Properly

My car was hit on the passenger side I decided to bring it cause it's really close to us. i picked up my car after they told me its all done . After driving it for a day I noticed that there was a noise clicking so I complained and told them its not safe, So they said that they have to replace the LT axle/ Housing , RT mount and front Mount, it took them almost a month i had to follow up so Geico can release the funds that they requested after picking it up i told them the noise is still there the problem that i felt when i was driving it . I even drove my car with their supervisor Chuck so he can personally hear what i was talking about. They don't give you any guarantee on their repairs what he was telling me that if the problem is not accident related then i have to pay for the diagnostic test . They didn't do right the first time they didn't do it right the second time. Im not a mechanic but these people are so stupid that they don't know how to do their job right. Its unsafe for my family to drive because they they didn't fix it right. They should have disclosed it if the problem is not related I don't mind paying for it out of my pocket but no. They said that everything is ready to go . Very bad company don't bring your damaged car here find some other body shop that will take care of you and has the concern to satisfy their customers expectations.

Caliber Collision Centers Collision Loss/Auto Repairs

I contacted Caliber Collision a few days after getting my car was struck by a flying object in efforts to have my vehicle repaired. I wanted to get an eta of when to expect parts and repairs as I have no rental car coverage. The women explained that I needed to contact my carrier and have the assignment sent over and once the assignment was received they could start ordering parts and later schedule me to come in to complete the estimate. I contacted my carrier and filed the claim. Immediately after filing the claim there kept seeming to be4 an issue of getting the estimate done, apparently estimates can only be done at Caliber Collision no later than 3:30 MST. Even after having my insurance carrier complete the estimate and photos, caliber said that it was not sufficient and that I still needed to have them complete the estimate. I explained that I started a new job at Denver University and that my work schedule would not permit, we literally went around and around just because they claimed that they could not do the estimate past 3:30 but the sign clearly states that they are open until 5:30pm est. Later it became an issue with dropping the car off, once again they are telling me that I have to drop the car off before 3:30 MST because they don't have staff there that can process my paperwork or accept my keys. Dispite the fact that I was told previously that I can email the paperwork. I asked Caliber Collision staff if I could drop my spare key off even a week prior to repairs but she declined, I asked if there was a drop box but she told me that they didn't trust the drop box. finally we got past that and I explained over and over again that I am a single mother who just started a new job and that my funds and time were very limited. I explained that I do not have rental car coverage and that while the car was being repaired that I would either have to take public transportation or pay for the rental car out of pocket. I was called last Monday 8.1.22 and Jamiee left a message with an update. Jamiee called again that following Wednesday and she explained that my vehicle had been assembled and being painted or about to be painted. Jaimee assured me that my vehicle would be ready for pickup Friday August 5th which is when the rental was due back. On Friday August 5th she called back at 3:11 pm to explain that my car was not ready and that the wrong bumper which had no bracket to support my headlight was installed and that they had to order the correct bumper. She advised that the part is now expected 8.10.22. This is not fair to me, I am a long time customer, you all have done work on my other vehicles and at this point I DO not feel that I should be responsible for the cost of the rental.. I am reaching out to you all to correct this issue for the sake of integrity. I have been a claims adjuster for over 10 years with Safeco/Liberty Mutual and Nationwide Insurance, and never have I seen business conducted this way. Please address this matter.

Desired outcome: Rental covered by your organization for the errors and delays caused by your service employees.

Basically your corporation sucks. Very unprofessional and just yanking our chain with blaming everything on the COVID situation. My car has been at the Lynwood IL location since July 15th they said it should be done when we got back from vacation on July 25th) and nothing is set in stone on when my car will be returned to me. The parts are held up in Indianapolis, IN since square one. That is only 2.5 hours away from where the repairs are being made! We have been told time and again that they will keep us updated on the situation. To no avail we are not kept up to date on any progress. NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON...no more excuses...

Caliber Collision Centers Door handle damaged, paint spots on leather seats.

On December 01/21 and after almost three months I was able to get back my car after getting repaired at Caliber Collision I45-N Conroe Tx. I understood the delay in the delivery due to Covid-19 . parts in backorder. I was assisted by the estimator with an inspection before driving from the shop. I noticed when I pull the driver's door side handle to open the door a small piece from the outside handle fell to the ground, despite some effort by the estimator, the piece was not fitting, and kept falling, He stated that when they remove the door to paint and fix something from the driver side they hit and braking some component of the handle piece. He was going to order a new piece to fix the handle. I also noticed some dust covering part of the back seat and seat belt, back of the driver seat as well as the front passenger seat. To my surprise it wasn't dust was residual paint covering on spots my leather seats. The solution of the estimator was to clean the seats and belt with some cleaner used in the shop when getting the door handle piece. I wait 6 weeks already the middle of January I called the shop because no one called me as promised, the piece was in. I went back to the shop and the piece was not able to stay in place, The estimator check the two components stating that the damage to the handle was more than initially appreciated, needing to order a full handle, Today is 07/09/22 and after going to the shop twice one talking with the estimator and second time talking with the shop manager who was aware of the problem stating that she was going to call me no later than the day after my visit to the shop after getting information of the status of the handle order. , I haven't received any explanation or phone call stating the reason for this delay or giving me a solution to my problem.

Desired outcome: I want my car fixed as promised, I paid a high price for the repair and I did not receive any statement that I was responsible for extra damages suffered in the shop while handling/ repairing my vehicle.

Caliber Collision Centers Treatment by the general manager

I had my vehicle repaired there and the paint didint match, I contacted Brad my service tech that was very helpful and was trying to assist me. However the General manager that suffers from little mans syndrome came out with a very sarcastic attitude and told me that he didint see anything wrong with it. He told me to come back when the sun came out. This was after I showed him pictures where he basically called me a liar. I took it to another Caliber shop and was greeted professionally. They saw the issue and immediately set me up for an appoint to bring it in under warranty. The way that I was treated by the General Manager Austin Witt was for least bad if not the worst. To make matters worse no one wants to respond to me. I called Dustin Butaner several times where I left messages for him to call me, he does not return my calls. I contacted customer service they will not return my calls. I will not be talked to like a kid and scolded buy the general manager for something I didint do. I was left belittled and verbally assaulted by the whims of this man. I intend to file the most formal compliant against him.

Really! I got this reply from the Manager or some upper person:

Response from the owner3 days ago

Hi Robert Wright, thank you for reaching out to Caliber Collision. We’re sorry to hear about your recent experience at one of our locations. Can you please email us at [protected]@calibercollision.com with the name the vehicle is under or RO number and a good contact number so that we can address your concerns?

Guess what, Ive written them more than three times as requested by their response. Guess what no one returns the message or writes back. I wont give up until this matter is addressed.

I chose Caliber collision in Columbia,TN after hitting a curb at 60mph. Blew out both tires and wheel was trashed.

I purchased used wheels and tires to drive home, from out of state. I then chose to claim on my insurance.

They charged $1400 (500 deductible). $370 went to TPMS sensors that were working when I drove it.

10 mins after driving, I took it back complaining of a roaring noise. The man told me it was tire noise, but would have it checked again.

He took my car to Firestone!

Today, after scheduling an appointment with regular shop, they tell me both wheel bearings on driver side are bad.

I told the man when I took it back, that it sounded like a wheel bearing and he basically shrugged it off.

Caliber Collision Centers Collision repair

I took my F250 to the Caliber Collision on Ashley Phosphate Road in North Charleston, SC for collision repair at the recommendation of my insurer (USAA). It was determined my right side frame needed replaced. I will as told it had been ordered.

After about 5 months I was told the part had arrived, but they could not fit me in for a month.

April 5th, I dropped my truck off to have the frame snd new bumper installed. Three weeks later, I called to check the status and was told my truck had been transferred to another Caliber location. Upon calling the new location, I was told. THE PART WAS NEVER ORDERED!

6 freaking months wasted. The new Caliber location said my parts were again ordered.

I am livid! This os the pinnacle of incompetence.

AVOID CALIBER COLLISION AT SLL COSTS.

How this business is still operating defies logic.

Desired outcome: To have my freaking truck tepaired my a competent faciliyy

Caliber Collision Centers Toyota sienna still in caliber collision 6 months after being delivered there for repair.

In September 2021, my Toyota Sienna was rear-ended while stopped at a traffic light in Prince Frederick, Md. On recommendation of our insurance company, we had an estimate done by Caliber Collision in Sunderland, Md. We were informed in mid September that Caliber had all the parts on site and to please bring the Sienna is so work could commence. The estimated completion time was November. We received a call that the liftgate they had for our Sienna was actually for another Sienna but our's was on order and would be there the following week. As of Christmas we had absolutely no contact from Caliber - none! We initiated contact only to find out that the second liftgate was damaged when they took it out of the box and that we were "in line" for another liftgate when one was actually available. Since the car was drivable when I dropped it off in October I asked them if I could just take it with me and bring it back when they had all the parts. They informed me that they had taken it apart already and it was sitting on the lot (in the open) and they could not put it back together because "parts had sprung" and no longer fit. All I could do was wait according to them. So I waited. The week after Christmas we were told they found a new liftgate; two weeks later we were told it was being shipped; two weeks later they had a delivery date. The next notification was to tell us they had shipped the car to Forestville Caliber because "they had more labor available". In February we called Caliber in Forestville because we had heard nothing. They told us they were doing an estimate. This was the third (this should be in caps) estimate and now that estimate would have to be approved before they could start work. We asked why a third estimate was being done. They said that Caliber Sunderland did not understand that you had to take the side panels off to replace the bumper. My question here is that shouldn't a body shop know how to reassemble an automobile they have contracted to repair and not just be guessing? So we waited. We called later to find that work had begun because the estimate was approved and we would have the car in two weeks. Two weeks later we called only to be told it would not be ready. Forestville had found a "note from Sunderland" that the rail for the driver's seat had to be replaced. My husband had been driving and had not noticed any dysfunction in the seat when he exited the Sienna. I called Forestville to get the story and they had nothing about it in their file but proceeded to tell me that if any repairs are made to the seats, they must completely uncover them and then you have to be in line for an upholsterer to put them back together. They were supposed to get back to me regarding all of this but never did. There were several more delays. The last one we are dealing with has to do with the framework into which the rear liftgate fits. Forestville told us the framework was bent and the liftgate did not fit so they had to order another framework - back to waiting. Now, since Sunderland already had found the parts did not fit back together after they disassembled the Sienna, shouldn't they have suspected something and checked into this more? Sounds like incompetence to me. So now our car is in "assembly"... again. I am told it has several steps to go thru afterwards (painting, calibration, etc) and that we are still on schedule for April 15th. April 15th is also the new date in State Farm's file. I do believe that perhaps some of the problem in the beginning was supply chain issues due to Covid although I think that is an overused excuse these days. Lately, however, the problems seem to be due to incompetence. Sunderland did not know how to replace a bumper. Sunderland assumed the old liftgate did not fit due to damage and did not bother to inspect the framework into which it fit. Sunderland or Forestville seem to have some miscommunication regarding the driver's seat. The only weak explanation Sunderland could give was that one of the techs noticed the seat was tilted slightly back. I explained they were reclining seats and my husband reclines the seat back slightly because he is big man, has long arms and had back surgery several years ago. After that they never got back to me. This has been a very unsatisfactory experience and extremely frustrating. I also have to wonder if Caliber just plain doesn't know how to fix the car and are just making blind attempts. Communication has been virtually non-existant all the way up to regional management whom I have contacted twice. Looking at the Better Business Bureau's website, I do not appear to be alone in my experience with Caliber. When am I getting my car returned to me and will the repairs be up to industry stardards?

Terrie C. Jeschke

Toyota Sienna left at Caliber Sunderland in October 2021 with rear-end damage.

Desired outcome: Repair the car expeditiously; if they do not have a clear plan of how to accomplish this, contact the insurance companies. Daily progress reports by phone [protected] - Terrie). Explanation of driver's seat problem.

Caliber Collision Centers Passenger side door mirror. Claim # IVI8359

I was sent by Travelers to Jupiter's FL collision center to replace the damaged R/H door mirror. The Traveler's adjustor estimated that the repair will cost less than my deductible and will be responsible for repair. The Caliber of Jupiter agrees to perform the repair and asked me for a down payment to order a new mirror. I was told that due to the supply chain, I could have a longer wait for the repair.

A week later, being in the neighborhood, I stopped at the collision center to see if they have any information about the mirror. The manager and one more person came out of his office and told me that mirror is there. After unwrapping the mirror I was in shock. The replacement mirror was trash. I asked the manager if he will install such garbage on his vehicle. He was mute. I asked for a refund and he agreed. I told him that I will order my mirror and will install it by myself, he said when I get the mirror to come back to the shop and he will paint the cover for free, I tried to pick up his business card, and he said that I do not need it. A few days later, when I came back with the cover to be painted, he denied his promise.

The shop is located in the neighborhood, I will never come back there if I will ever need the repair.

Caliber Collision Centers Repairs not completed correctly and nationwide warranty means nothing.

We were traveling and had an accident in Indiana on 6/19/21. Being from South Carolina we choose to have our car repaired with Caliber Collision in Castleton Indiana because they were nationwide…. So if there was an issue we could have it taken care of close to home.

After the vehicle being moved from the tow lot to the State Farm salvage lot Caliber got the release from us to start work on it 7/1. Due to many issues getting parts and finding other issues as the repairs were done we finally got a message that the car was ready on 8/20, we rented a car and drove to Indiana to pick up the car on 8/24. The shop manager told us that he had test driven the vehicle and everything was good to go…
Except they were waiting for a Traverse Decal for the passenger door that was due in that day, he said the would mail it to us…. (Recd 9/7)
So we got on the road but due to heavy traffic and construction it was almost 2 hours before we got to open road to use the cruise control. Adaptive cruise and regular cruise control and lane assist did not work! I called SA at Indy CC told him it wasn't working and asked should we come back and he told us no just continue on and he would contact CC in Anderson and they would help us.
Later on 8/24 Indy contacted the Anderson CC and was told they were closed due to a COVID outbreak and he should send us to Greenville…. He then asked if we would mind doing the Greenville location, we said no just set it up. Indy told us that he was having a problem getting in contact with anyone at Greenville because no one was returning his calls or voicemails or emails! This back and forth went on with Indy till 9/7, that day we received the Decal and took it to cc Anderson. They told us they couldn't do anything for us so I called CC Indy and had them talk directly to each other. Was told Anderson would call within 24 hours.
Never heard from Anderson…. Sent Indy this msg on 9/09

********* Looking for an update on getting the car fixed here in Anderson SC. We called your location from there on Tuesday afternoon... we were told that all info would be sent over to Anderson manager and then we would be contacted. Just wanted to follow up became haven't heard anything from anyone.

Indy then finally got in contact with someone at CC Greenville and they called us on 9/10.

Message we sent to Indy on 9/20
*********We talked to Greenville on 9/10. He said he would get something together and call us back. We left him a msg on on 9/16 and again on 9/17 have not heard anything back. Don't know what to do anymore... Should we come back to Indy to get it fixed? Do I contact State Farm and ask them if they will pay to have us take it to a Chevrolet dealership to get it fixed? Just very frustrated! Can you do anything to help us?

This was my response from Indy on 9/20….
********* I'm going to reach out to Greenville boss to see if I can help get this resolved. I'm sorry you're having issues getting this handled. Let me see what I can do from here. But I'm not going to make you drive back to Indy to get this handled. Either a local Caliber can help or you can take it to a local dealership.

As we went through the repairs done in Indy, SA was always very responsive and got back to us timely…. But here we are 9/23 and no response from anyone!
Vehicle is not fixed…. Have not heard a word from either Indy, Anderson or Greenville.

We choose Caliber because they were nationwide and had good reviews on their service and repairs. We are very disappointed and frustrated we cannot get the repairs completed and vehicle fixed right!

Desired outcome: Get my vehicle fixed!

Caliber Collision Centers Airbag

I had a minor accident on January 29, 2017.
My insurance suggested I use Caliber Collision.
They got some of the parts but still missing a part to complete the job.
They kept saying it's coming and on order. It was supposed to come in 2 weeks ago and it had a tracking number but didn't show up.
I ended up calling the Honda corporation.

Then finally last Wednesday they said it was in.
Now my car is supposed to be ready this afternoon.
It's been a nightmare dealing with them. Always promising but no actions.
I wish I would of taken my car to the Honda dealership.

Caliber Collision Centers Update to previous statement

Our car repairs have been completed. After going through quite an ordeal and having the car go back to the repair shop 3 times, it appears that Caliber has done a fairly good job. Thankfully, they do have a lifetime warranty on their work so that if any problems to arise, they will take care of it. On the day we picked up the car, the remote was missing. This car has a push button start. The car would start to we assumed the remote had to be in the car somewhere. After I searched for a couple of hours, I returned the car to Caliber where they had 5 men search the car from top to bottom, inside and out. They could not locate the remote. So, this is like leaving your keys in your car 24/7 for anyone to break into and steal. Caliber came to the conclusion that they lost the keys somewhere within the repairs made on the car. At this point I had to laugh! So, it appears that the lost remote is now a permanent part of the car, never to be found again. I then had to go to my dealership and they had to deactivate the lost remote and program a new one for me. Caliber had to pick up the cost on the new remotes!

*** CUSTOMER BEWARE ***

Caliber has had my RAM 1500 for over 2 weeks (8/8/2023) to (8/21/2023)for a basic windshield repair. They do not have an ETA on when it will be fixed and only give excuses as to why it is not complete. I still do not have my vehicle and they will NOT release it to me to take it somewhere else.
