Canadian Tire I think I was profiled

Whenever I shop, at Cadtire Confed noticed and feel that I am being watched especially buy the monitor people.
They will call someone, and they will look at me suspiciously. Just like when I was in the repair, clerk there will stare at me. Or a guard is fronting me in the cashier.
I am senior citizen, customer for 15 years of this store, my two cars are always fixed in the shop spending thousands.
I wear a cap and sunglasses due to my diabetes, glaucoma and cataracts. Those people should be taught how to spot who is who.

Canadian Tire Disappointed with customers service and treatment

This happened in Canadian Tire Humboldt Sk
This was the situation I left in their website review.
-Disappointed, while I was at the store buying water, the tall bald guy who works in parts and service . Was ranting and being rude about their shopping carts getting broken that's why they increase the price of the water and etc...
First of all:
-Did they even ask or informed me about not putting 4 jugs in the cart.
-they never informed me that the cart shouldn't be used for 4 jugs of water.
-they never informed me that the cart has weight limit.
-And if there is how would I know ? ( I was never told about it).
-nobody informed me about it or even no one talked to me about it.
-I've been buying water from them since 2023
-Same scenario 4 water jugs in a cart.
The things is you don't have to be an "AH" about it, you could have just informed or ask me politely and kindly. Not ranting and being rude about it with the other lady customer in front of me.
There's a big difference between informing, letting know a customer kindly and politely. Than being an "AH" ranting and being rude about stuff that the customer was not even aware of for 2 years.
You're in a customer service industry, if you don't want to ask politely or kindly. You can always ask in a right manner of way with respect. I might be in a minority group but I do treat everyone with respect ,i encounter everyday.
Always remember this things;
-does the customer know
-do they know the situation
-are they aware of what's happening
If not ;
-how do i inform them properly and in a right manner of way.
-how to do it better and best way I can without disrespecting or being rude to others.
What ever's happening in your day today don't blame it unto others. Everything's gonna be ok if you're having a BAD DAY. But please do respect others. I don't know if you're the owner or what , but you don't get to disrespect or treat others like that especially you're in the customer service industry.-
This is what happened today. I've never experienced this from my 1st day not until today, here in Canada , I don't know if his just having a bad day or just because I'm from a minority group. I don't know if his just an employee or an owner. I do follow rules and regulations as long as I know and I'm properly informed. But what can I do if I don't know and they didn't even informed me. How would I know. Even if his just an employee or an owner that doesn't give him the right to disrespect, be rude or be a racist to customers like me.

Recommendation: Always report and give reviews whether good or bad. Because reviews will help them to improve and right their wrong doings.

Canadian Tire Kerplunk

I checked the website for this game and said it had 3 in stock. It said they were in aisle 47. When I got there at 8 a.m. there were none on the shelf so I was half way out of the store when I thought to ask an employee to check and make sure. I had to go back to the shelf where they should have been and an employee scanned the code and said they were in aisle 73 at the front of the store. I did locate it. I hate going in Canadian Tire for anything because every aisle is jam packed with skids of this and that. No sense of order to anything. You can’t get 2 carts down the same aisle. Could be a fire safety issue as well.

Recommendation: If your an orderly type of person this is not the store for you. Also products may not be where they should be.

Canadian Tire Extremely offensive General manager Bolton GM

On April 26th, I visited the store at 11am with a business inquiry. I was seeking a straightforward answer, either a 'yes' or 'no', and I was open to both responses. I was directed to the garden centre to meet with Mike, the General Manager.

Our conversation took an unexpected turn when Mike made a peculiar comment about a $10,000 fine for doing business with Canadian Tire. The comment seemed nonsensical, so I lightly dismissed it. However, Mike took offense to this and became aggressive and confrontational. He accused me of having a bad attitude and being a poor employee, even though I am not employed by Canadian Tire. Ironically, he was exhibiting the very traits he was accusing me of - a bad attitude and poor employee conduct, especially for a General Manager.

I decided to leave the situation by exiting through the garden centre into the parking lot. Mike continued his tirade, shouting across the parking lot and resorting to name-calling. Despite an apology from Canadian Tire, I find his behaviour unforgivable.

I hope that this does not reflect the overall business practices of Canadian Tire.

Canadian Tire CTC does not stand behind their OWN products.

My wife bought a fan in the store just EIGHT days ago.

It stopped working. She took it back to the store who REFUSED to credit it back to her CrappyTire MC because she assembled it.

It's a NO BRAINER that you'd have to put it together first to make it work!

Absolutely REFUSED to take their defective NOMA product back, a company CTC OWNS! After arguing she was given a CTC gift card that expires in FIVE DAYS!

There is NO customer service in this store. CTC does not stand behind their OWN products where they are the manufacturer (NOMA).

Needless to say our MasterCards are being cancelled.

Canadian companies like CTC need to stop complaining about foreign competition. They can only blame themselves for losing Canadians to competition for their own diabolical customer service policies.

Recommendation: Walmart is next door, if it breaks they’ll refund with a receipt.

Update by Jeff Veenstra

I neglected to mention that reason it could not be accepted back from the store was because IT WAS ASSEMBLED AND THEY COULD NOT RESELL IT, even though it was made quite clear many times - it’s DEFECTIVE!

Canadian Tire Ordered new rims

I ordered a new set of rims for my 2023 Genesis GV70, after waiting four hours to have the winters mounted and balanced, the rims didn't fit. They ordered a another set of rims for it and again mounted and balanced and they didn't fit. What a waste of my time dealing with this store. They drilled out my TPMS sensors , we had to scrap them. At least they paid for new ones. Never again!

Recommendation: Shop else where!

Canadian Tire Mechanic lied to my face

I investigated a belt problem on my car. A belt was off the tracks where it should have been. It can be seen with open hood. I booked it in, and let them know I don't have a huge budget right now, but I need the car to work. Explained the issue. Mechanic himself told me it's the law in Ontario to charge me 60 something dollars for an inspection. Even though the car was already looked at and the issue was already told to him. It wasn't the steering or alternator belt. The car drove fine.

Claimed loss: Inspection costs, as it was inspected before bringing it in and was told by Mechanic himself that it's the law in the OHSA that he does an inspection and charges me for that.

Desired outcome: Waived inspection fee and corporate monitoring this vehicle in the system to see if anything else was sabotaged by this person out of spite.

Canadian Tire Core charge/warranty

Had to buy a rear caliper for my Ford car in Jan. of this year. 2 months later that caliper was seizing on me with smoke come from the brake. I went to the store because there was 12 months warranty on the part. I was told I have to purchase a caliper and pay a core charge of $58. No Problem. Repaired the brakes and brought in the defective part. I was sent to the automotive counter and they signed a paper stating it was defective. Back to customer serviced and was told I would be refunded for the caliper but not the core charge. That was very unacceptable and I asked for the manager. He too said I would not be getting my core fee back. He said the part I brought back was defective and they will refund the cost of the part but not the core charge. I said I'm not leaving until I get all my money back I was never told at the time of purchase that they won't refund the care charge even though the salesperson was aware it was for warranty replacement. The store manager threatened to call and have me taken out of the store and no refund or core fee given. At that point I called head office to get this straightened out. Eventually the store manager convinced head office person to pay half the core fee($28 in the form of a gift card) and the store would pay the other half($28). This ordeal did not need to happen and took 40 minutes to resolve. The police could have been called if it wasn't for me having to call head office for help. I'm a senior on a fixed income. $58 is money I depend on. See file [protected] Date: Mar. 20/25
Yesterday I was at the same store and bought 4 jugs of Pennzoil synthetic motor oil. It was a special grand opening sale for the store. I had trouble finding the 5W20 synthetic oil so I showed an associate the ad and asked where that grade of synthetic oil was. He took me to a supply of it at a different location then the other oils that are carried by CTC and handed me two of them. When I got home and was putting them on my shelf I noticed that the oil was not synthetic at all. I went back to the store with the purchased oil and asked for synthetic oil. The customer service person said there was a mistake on the flyer and pointed to a error notice posted at the counter. I said that should be posted where the oil is on their shelves. This manager that I had the earlier problem with just happened to walk by. I pointed out that the error should be posted where the oil is. He said it is. I said it wasn't yesterday. He said it was posted yesterday. I went back and it is posted and very visible. It definitely was not posted when I bought the oil. I ran into the manger and told him it was not posted at the time of purchase(5:50 pm). He said yes it was. So basically he lied and inferred that I was lying about the posting not being there. I'm sure other people were caught buying what they thought was synthetic oil. I was reimbursed the price of the oil but - (a) they should have honored there mistake when even their employees didn't know there was and error and (b) I do not like being called a liar when in fact it was the manager who was lying.

Desired outcome: Personally I think the manager should be disciplined and the owner of the store should know what kind of manager he has.

Canadian Tire Canadian Tires Marine Grease for Lower Unit

I purchased the CTC brand to winterize my outboard motor lower unit. Got is all appart and whe i went to connect my now ope one litre container the threads and nect on the 1 ltr bottle were larger than previous years. I have a manual pump system to pump the grease into the lower unit and i now won't thread on. I think CTC purchased the wrong specifiation or didn't noted. Your competitor product on your shelves Quick Silver has the universal does use the tradition thread. My options are to return the 1 litre CTC grease although i have already pealed off the seal (thinking i could thread it on), #2 purchase the Quick Silver, higher price and wait until i use it all up then poor teh CTC grease into that contrainer, buy a new pump from CTC or find another way to inject my grease. I would first like to get CTC comment and reccommendation first. I wonder to myself how careful do i have to be when purchasig CTC brands as they may not meet industry standards.

Claimed loss: $29 price of competitors greese.

Canadian Tire Paint department Edson alberta

Since the new ownership they no longer stock the pain sample cards. I had to drive two hours away for that. Then I go to get paint and they don’t have the tints required to do so. There has never been worse ownership! The store is a mess, they could care less about their customers. I will not be back, and will also be telling everyone that will listen in our small town to switch to other available brands here. This is not acceptable!

Canadian Tire Automotive repair

re-invoice [protected]

On May 17/24, my daughter took her car to the Dartmouth Crossing store. She wanted an oil change and someone to blow out some sand on the brake dust cover. I contacted three other Canadian stores and asked what the procedure was. All three service managers repeated the same story... turn the wheel hard left and they would blow the dirt out, no charge, chalked it up to good customer relations. My daughter gave no authorization for work other than her oil change. She returned to find that some technician decided to just tear off the dust plate, but didn't advise of his actions, She was in a hurry for a family event and didn't notice the extra charge of $149 plus a charge as shop materials of another $10.20. I called the store and as soon as the technician knew it was a complaint I was put on hold for 10 minutes, then I heard loud voices and I was hung up on. I called back immediately and often, and the phone was not answered until I used a different phone, called, was answered then hung up on again, multiple no answer on either number,

Claimed loss: cost of brake dust cleaning, new dust plate installed and refunded and an apology!

Desired outcome: As above

Canadian Tire Customer service desk rude associate

I have been a customer (my whole family) with Cdn Tire since the beginning that I can remember. This has never happened and it is appaulling. On Jan 18/24 at around 2:00pm I went to the customer service to return a unopen box of Crock Pot. I was nice but wow she was ruin in explaining that they will not do returns unless I had a receipt. She asked me if I gave my phone number or my rewards card. I advised that I had no rewards but a credit card. Again rudly asked me if I gave my phone number to cashier. I stated I could not recall and I don't think so. Well she said "all cashiers at this store askes for your number." OK that was rude. Basically she shove me off and I really did like her whole attitude or how I was being treated. I did not know about the changes but instead of providing me with proper knowledge she basically "slapped me in the face". I said ok, can I leave this here why I go back shopping, and again rude comment. That blew me off. I ask for a pen and paper and oh, nice she leaned over the counter and she in a smirk face "I don't have paper." I grabbed the pen before she could take it away from me. Wow this woman is a joke. I then asked to see the manager. Of course Zero who was the woman I was having a difficult time was now a bit nervous as she pick up the receiver of the phone and punching all kinds of numbers. She got frustrated. An associated was passing by and Zero (Zgro-not sure how the name was spelt but I will never forget her face).

The associated was extremely busy but attend to my situation.

Asmine was very helpful, calming, listen and said to lets go back to the counter. So we did. Asmine asked for my phone number just to see if by any chance you did give. Voila. There I was. Asmine help me to resolve this.

Zero (Zgro) did not do that or even go that far. Shame on Zero(Zgro) she needs more training.

Thank Asmine who made me feel good, got my gift card and made me feel that I want to come back.

Claimed loss: My loss is humiliation and a desire not to return to Canadian Tire but thanks to Asmine I will.

Desired outcome: Outcome: May be a small dollar gift card for an apology.Zero to get further and proper training Asmine to get a BIG HUGE thank you for being t

Canadian Tire Auto service - poor (nearly no) customer service.

I called Richmond Store Auto Service to schedule an appointment for changing winter tires on Monday (15/1) early morning. The male staff claimed that the earliest day will be on Thursday and I said it’s too late for me as the snow storm will be coming on Wednesday. He insisted no earlier time slot. In the afternoon (15/1), I checked Canadian Tire website (online appointment booking), and I saw there’re 3 time slots open for bookings (Tuesday 10am, Tuesday 11am and Wednesday 11am). I called again and the SAME male staff picked up my call. I told him the above situation for online booking and after 5 seconds of checking, he said, ‘the 3 timeslots showing on website are FAKE’! You cannot book!

OH MY GOD, Canadian Tire put FAKE info on official website? Are you serious?!

After saying this, the male staff CUT my phone line without saying anything or ‘goodbye’.

Management, can you explain 1. Why fake info can be placed on official website? 2. Why your staff can be that unfriendly and not helpful at all? 3. Did any of your frontline staff having customer service training? Do they know they need to greet their customers and need to speak out their name? Or at least need to say ‘thanks for your call’ or ‘good bye’?

Ridiculous!

I received a confirmation of my appointment via text message confirming my appointment was booked for 1 PM on Nov 28/23.

Yesterday, I received a text letting me know that my appointment was for 1:40 AM on Nov 28, The text said I could respond 62 to confirm or click a link to cancel or reschedule. I did not confirm because 1:40 AM is not a valid appointment time. When I clicked the link I go an error message, "Sorry, we cannot process your request now. Please try again later or contact your store."

So far this morning I have called Auto Service [protected] three times and no one answers the phone. I emailed [protected]@ctc192.com explaining that there was a problem with my appointment time. I have emailed them in the past and have never received a response and I don't expect a response this time either. I have left voice messages that have never been responded to.

This wasn't always a problem. There was some sort of restructuring done in the auto service department, I can't remember exactly when, maybe a year ago. All of the tenured employees were replaced and since then it is impossible to contact Auto Service. The only other option is to drive there and stand in line to speak to a live person.

I am fine with the work done on my car.

Desired outcome: How are you going to fix this?
