Defective construction of Shoe
I have read the reviews on these shoes, and fully agree on how these shoes fall apart at the sole, having this occur on two different pair that have been rarely worn .
Shoe model 3430-1 Size 9 Medium. One tan pair and one black pair.( see photo )

Sole of shoes cracked after 2 months
Bought a pair of clarks shoes in shaws department store tullow street carlow on the 7th july 2011 by the end of september 2011 the soles of the shoes had when i brought them back the assistant told me to go to customer care where i was asked by a manager was i a good customer in the store i have always shopped in the shaws store for 30 years or more i was told that the clarks rep was in the store and that they would show the shoes to her later that day after purchasing another pair of shoes in the shaws store for 60 euro i received a call from the customer care dept in shaws of carlow the girl told me that they had showed my shoes to the rep and she said that they looked older than what i was saying which i didnt appreciate the assistant said that they would give me a voucher for the store instead of the shoes because unless i had the receipt i could not get my money back because the so called rep didnt believe that i had purchased them in July but this was the third pair of the same shoes that i had bought in the store i kept the receipt and could produce it in the store and the assistant refunded me my money my compalint is that firstly i was questioned about how good a customer i was in the store from a young so called manager that probably was'nt even born when i started shopping in shaws store and the second is the fact that this young sales rep questioned my integrity and honesty about when i purchased the shoes. its on this note that i most definetly wont be buying any Clark's Shoes again.
Yours sincerly

I just recently wore my clark shoes that I had purchased a few months ago, I have worn them for about 1 week and the soles are cracking and falling a part. I no longer have a receipt for them. I am reading many complaints about the same thing happening! I always wanted Clarke shoes now I have them and cannot wear them! lorrainepowers14_63@msn.com

I am mailing this complaint against Clarks shoe company. I put on my year old sandals that I have only worn about five times and was bought about a year ago, that are ripping from the sole to the leather top. These sandals should have held up better under such light use.
Please give me a number or a department that I may have these leather, expensive shoes replaced.
Thank you

I have purchased a pair of shoes from Clarks Abu Dhabi and could not believe what happened to the shoes but worse than this is the company and the agent Jashenmal who both failed to honor customer satisfaction, or to acknowledge the unbelievable defect with the shoe. I wore the shoes for less than 2 weeks suddenly the left shoe sole cracked longitudinally and across, the top is still like brand new, the right side looks perfect. I am very sure there is a defect in the left side. I have amazing photos of the shoes, I have contacted Clarks in UK, they were not helpfull at all. I have also contacted the local agent, they asked me for a receipt which I have not kept. They refused to exchange, repair or refund the shoes even though it is very clear a product of Clarks, and there is only one agent in Abu Dhabi
Shoe Sole disintegrates
I purchased a pair of Clarks Sunbeat Sandals in size 5 last fall upon recommendation from a friend who is an ardent fan of these shoes. I wore my sandals for the first time today (2011 July 01) and within half hour of wearing them, the Sole disintegrated! I wore these sandals thinking that I would be wearing a comfortable pair of shoes while walking around enjoying Canada Day festivities. Instead, I spent my afternoon being extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed while walking around in sandals that were falling apart. Sadly, I wore them on a day that all stores were closed so I couldn't even buy a replacement pair of sandals. These sandals ruined my day.
I cannot believe that these shoes, which are not inexpensive, would be of such poor quality. When I purchase shoes from a reputable brand, I expect them to last at least 2-3 years, especially sandals, which I wear only 3-4 months per year.
I have taken pictures to show just how badly the sandals fared during their very first wear and shall email to Clarks Canada if I can find an email address.
I am hoping that Clarks will rectify this problem and reimburse my money for these &!^%#! sandals. I am awaiting a reply from them.

I have a pair of Propets that fell apart after i walked on soggy grass. The sole crumpled off and looked like foam or a poor quality sponge.
Someone gave me a pair of Clark's a while back. I thought they were ugly but kept them because they were new and may work as plain black shoes some day. Today I tried to give them to my daughter for work (her first job). They literally fell to pieces in our hands. The sole came apart in chunks. Our fingers were sticky. It was hilarious. What gets me is people posting that all of their Clark's shoes disintegrated. Why would you have more than one pair? What junk. We are keeping the tops of the shoes for a joke. Plain black shoe Dickie.
Shoes Fall Apart
I bet I have at least 30 pairs of Clark Shoes in my closet. However, I have bought my last pair of Clark Shoes and want to urge everyone to quit buying these shoes. When I first bought Clark shoes, they were of good quality and lasted a long time. However, that has changed. All of my Clark shoes are now starting to fall apart...the sole pulls away from the stitching of the shoe.
I have 2 sisters and they have experienced the same problem with their Clark shoes. From reading the comments on the web, it appears this is a very common problem with Clark shoes now.
So...learn from our experience...DON'T BUY CLARK SHOES ANYMORE! Don't spend money on expensive Clark shoes, because THEY ARE OF INFERIOR QUALITY!
Maybe if we can get the word out, people will quit buying Clark Shoes and the business will be forced to do something about the quality of their shoes.
When I go shopping, everytime I go buy the shoe dept, if they sell Clark shoes, I'm going to tell the shoe clerks to warn their customers about buying this brand.

I just called customer service at Clark's. I was treated very rudely. My shoes literally fell apart on both soles yesterday
while I was at an event. The answer I was given by Clark's was that the soles were made of tire like material that
disintegrates with age. I replied that that was a manufacturing defect. They did not offer to replace the pair.
I asked to speak to someone else. That is where I am with this issue. I will NEVER buy another pair of Clark's shoes
ever, and I will tell others about their shoddy quality and lack of "customer service" I am very disappointed. I remember
when they were a fine product. Not any more.
Sole came off both shoes-clarks
I had a similar experience -threw away 4 pr. clogs & 2 pr sandals last year-same issue- barely worn and rubber soles coming apart at the seams.
Again, 6 more pair ( in boxes in my closet) dry-rotting--so I called Clarks Customer service- they offered to replace them ( wish I wrote down the model #'s on the ones I threw away).
They said a series of shoes had "glue issues"-?
Here is what the sole looks like when the cushion disintegrated, leaving me walking on the cold pavement.
A like new pair left me walking around in just the tops as moccasins in the cold yesterday when the bottom cushion portion disintegrated into powder leaving me 130 miles from home yesterday. I'm a real happy camper right now. NOT
I have had at least 7 pair of Clarks do the exact same thing. I was told by Clark's customer service that the shoes dry rotted! Unbelievable! They obviously have a issue with the rubber soles of these shoes
The same thing happened to two of my Clark shoes. We have constant temp in our home due to severe allergies, and both shoes were stored in their original boxes. It is definitely a quality control issue with the materials used as the sole, be it rubber or some
sort of synthetic.
poor quality
I purchased these shoes around 10 years ago but rarely wore them . In fact they appear to be brand new. I recently wore them in the house and noticed the sole had split on the right shoe. Checking online I noticed there was a history of this problem dating back quite a few years. I sent the shoes to Clarks and they returned them stating the shoes were...

With due respect and regard; I have decided to contact you on a business transaction that will be very beneficial to both of us at the end of the day.
I wish to inform you that our company is into buying of Silica Oil Product, which is used in varieties of applications ranging from electronics, transport machinery, chemicals, machinery, textiles, pulp, construction, civil engineering, cosmetics, and household goods.
We purchase this product and supply to Manufacturing companies, meaning that we are acting as a direct supplier to some of the big companies in the UK . We usually get this product from Israel, but later discovered that it’s cheaper in Malaysia (this fraudster knows where I stay).
So I will like you to be our supplier there in Malaysia, where you will get the product from an Agent and supply directly to our company. Presuming that we still get this product from Israel . We do buy from Israel at the rate of 5, 200USD per carton, while we hear that the price there in Malaysia is 4, 300USD per carton. This product is packed ten bottles per carton.
You will be acting as a middleman for us to make our gain by not letting our Company know that we buy the product from Malaysia at a cheaper rate, because the difference between the product price will be our little profit.
We buy 20-cartons in a Month, 5-cartons at each delivery. I will link you up with the Malaysian Agent as soon as you show your interest in this business transaction. At the end of the day we have to take out the amount you use in purchasing the product. The profit we make has to be shared 70% for you as the financier and 30% for me.
Like I told you I would like you to handle this transaction with all seriousness because it's going to be a long term transaction. And I want you to know that you will be handling this transaction even when ever am not around and you will be there always to secure our % because I don't want to loose this contact directly to my company.

Soles and trip falling apart
I bought a pair of Clark Shoes in black size 8. They are similar to a Mary Jane shoe with one strap at the ankle. These were bought at a store at Merritt Island, Florida. Saturday, both shoes just tore away at several placed in the heel. They even broke up to show the medal in the middle. Then the trim around the toes started coming loose. I taped them up, but that would not work. What can you do to help me out? Do you need them mailed back to be examined? Could I get my money back, or must I replace them with another Clark pair?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My Clarks have come apart on the heel and split in the center.I have not worn these shoes but a few times. The rubber sole material is defective.I have Walmart shoes that have not done that! What a waste of money bought on a shopping channel! We should have an action suite, I was at work and the whole bottom was coming apart and no other shoes to put on.I could trip and fall. These are the worst shoes I have ever bought and at a high price too! DON"T BUY CLARKS !RIP OFF!
complaint was spot on!
I have recently had the same experience and am so frustrated. WHat a waste of money. I also loved the shoes which were incredibly comfortable. Apparently I, too, will no longer buy these shoes.
rubber soles cracked
I have a pair of clark springers that aren't even broken in and the bottom of the left sandal has a deep crack going accross east to west and the right sandal is starting to crack in the exact same spot. the numbers in the sandals are 31412 size 8 and then [protected] made in England. Paying good money for Clarks should not do this on new shoes.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am having EXACTLY the same problem with Clark's Springers. Mine are size 8-1/2.
Had shoes 1 year and yet both split across the sole.
Both a nice leather pair of Clark shoes at the local Marshalls less than a year ago. Noticed one morning on a cold day that the sole of both shoes split completely apart, across the width of the sole. Went to a local Clark's store and they referred me to their customer service. Don't know why, I showed them both soles, they ran an alledged stock number check and stated they couldn't locate the shoe in their computer. Whatever? The shoes plainly say Clark, and they are plainly somewhat new in that the soles are not worn excessively. Bad shoes is basically what this is. Someone obviously decided to put inferior man made rubber soles on an otherwise nice leather top. The leather holds where the sole of the shoe does not.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have a pair of brown leather Clark slip on shoes that I wear only occasionally. Imagine my surprise when the upper leather part completely separated from the sole on one side.. The shoe is otherwise in perfect condition. I have no idea what to do about this.
Any input will be appreciated.
I have a pair of slip on Clark shoes that have split at the sole. Don't know the problem but I love my Clark shoes. This is a pair that haven't been worn much at all. The sole is not worn like most of my Clark's! They look like knew with the exception that the side of the right shoe top stitching has come out and the piece of stretchy material is undone causing an open space in the shoe. They are Clarks Artisan Collection 73930 - 05/-06- 81/2M. Don't know when I purchased but know I have not worn them much. Love the loafer style but unhappy that this has happened. This seems to be a quality problem. Wish shoes were not top stitched so this would not happen.
I have been buying Clarks school shoes for years, I am very disappointed with them as the last two pairs have split across the sole. It makes me not want to purchase them again. Is there a problem with materials used?
I have had 2 pairs of Clark's shoes (not new) come apart at the sole recently. It's like the glue has disintegrated or something or like it was not stitched together like you'd think they would be (for the price of what Clark's cost). The actual shoe is not worn out & this seems to be a quality issue. I had taken 1 pair to my local shoe repair store which is owned by an older guy & he told me he could not fix this pair. He may not have the equipment to do the repair, so I'm consulting some other online shoe repair web sites. I'm also reading that many, many Clark's shoe customers are experiencing the same problems & some are actually newer shoes than what mine are. I've had some shoes for 20+ years & never had that problem before.
Exchange/refund
On friday 10th of december I bought a pair of boots in a Clarks store in Oxford street. When I got home I realised that a number smaller probably would have fit better and so I decided to exchange my boots the day after.
On the back on the receipt theere is written that you can exchange or have a refund in any store Clarks so I decided to go to the one in Clapham Junction which is closer my place.
On Saturday morning I went there and the Manger replied to me in a really rude way, asking me to wait that everyone paid (so I had to wait like 15 mins and let people to jump me..)and after waiting there to have my exchange he said that I could exchange my boots only in the shop where I bought them.
I kindly replied that on the back of the receipt is stated something else and he said that THE NOTES ON THE BACK OF THE RECEIPT WAS WRONG!
Therefore I had to go to Oxford street and I wanted more time then I was supposed to spend and also the money to travel there.
Now, apart the rude attitude of the manager which does not show a really good customer care I am really surprised that a company as important and big as Clarks can make mistakes in writing a wrong text on the back of the receipt.
I had been a good customer for the company before that moment but now I have to say that if this is the customer care they can offer, sorry but I will not buy anything else anymore in any shops.
Web Site Fault & Lack of Customer Interest
I ordered some shoes for my father. The web site noted an issue with the card - I re-entered it twice. On the third order I called Maria in Customer Care who told me that there had been no order and that she could not help me. I called my bank and was told that there were three orders - all at GBP 115 each - payable to Clarks.
The Bank advised that Clarks needed to send me a fax advising that they would not draw down the funds.
I had no receipt at all from Clarks.
On my next call I was placed on hold for over 5 minutes.
I then again spoke with Maria who said that she could not help me. Way to go on zero customer care!
I insisted that she look into this, and gave her the transaction numbers.
She insisted that she would do this later and call me back. I'm still waiting! I will never shop with Clarks again.

Top of shoe detaching from sole
I have many pairs of Clark shoes because they are so very comfortable. You can imagine my dismay when not one, not two, but THREE pair of my Clark shoes have faulty stitching and have come apart. My shoe repairman said the shoes cannot be repaired. The comfort and style made it well worth the high prices I have paid for the shoes until they fell apart. Please help me. I need some recourse on this delimma.

I bought a pair of Clark Shoes and I just loved them. They were not only cute, but very comfortable. On the first day that I wore them, just 2 1/2 hours into my shopping day, they felt funny. I looked down and the sides were all pulled away from the sole. Upon further checking, I found the sole had disintegrated and cracked all the way across in several places. I was dumbfounded. I had heard that Clark shoes were wonderful and very comfortable. Needless to say, I will not be buying anymore Clark shoes nor will I recommend them to anyone else.e

Hi, i bought a pair of boots from Clark wich they called (Orinoco jazz ) its not even 5 months yet ! The boots fall apart and the heel came of shame because I loved them ! I had a receipt so I went back and I had to wait for 45 mins to see the lady manager from castle point in Bournemouth town ! Because she was busy ! So she said I can't do any thing and the Clark shoes are not lasting for ever buti bought my boots on 28th of dec so not even 5 month old she was extremely un helpful manager I'm surprised of her behaving usually managers are helpful so I took to diffrent.branch the manager was very helpful in that branch she apologised and said I can give you the voucher or take any shoes at same price wich was £ 79.99 . All I wanted to say quality bad and very bad service in castle point .
Soles fall apart or crack open
I have two pair of Clark shoes in my closet and both are unwearable. The soul has split in several places on both the black clogs. The whole sole has come loose from the leather on the brown slip-on which I loved. I have never seen such poor quality in an expensive shoe. These are not new shoes but I have much older shoes which are still intact and wearable. Is there no pride in producing a quality product anymore?

Just cleaning out my closet, wore these a couple of times, Beautiful leather but they desinigrated right in my hands while holding them. They felt sticky. Style 39078 02/04.
I have worn Clark shoes for many years but I put on a pair of sandals and went to run errands and I couldn't understand why my feet started hurting and I started stumbling even with my cane. I am 75 years old and have had both knees replaced. I ended up falling and hurt my left knee and I looked at the shoes and the soles were disintegrating and the upper part of the shoe looks brand new. After reading your complaints I see there isn't much need to complain to the company I just want ever buy a Clark shoe again.
This is crazy! My consignment store Clarks fell apart the first time I wore them. I was thrilled with them when I first put them on because they were so comfortable. BUT! an hour later they fell apart. Both of them fell apart. I noticed that the date of the first complaint of this problem was posted in 2010. Six years later same problem, no change, no solution. Do they read these comments? My shoes are 32999 style. made in 05/03. they looked brand new with no wear any where. So this problem is at least thirteen years old and I don't see even a reply to these complaints. BBB here I come!
I just submitted a complaint to Clarks Customer Service. I own 5 pairs of Clarks shoes and 3 of them are starting to fall apart with relatively minimal wear. Two of them have cracked soles, and the 3rd pair came apart at one of the seams.
The response I received was that the warranty against manufacturing defects is only valid for 30 days, and there is nothing they can do.
I replied to their email with words of great dissatisfaction, which is when they agreed to give me a 50% discount on a future purchase of Clarks shoes. I don't think I'll take them up on their offer, because I have lost all faith in the company and don't want to end up with another pair of poor quality shoes. I also own 3 pairs of Ecco shoes. They have been much better and don't seem to get cracked soles. Buyer beware ! Clarks does not make a quality product, and they also don't stand behind their product.
Both shoes were fine when I wore them last fall but the soles totally fell apart when I got them off my shoe rack recently. The uppers look great but they are not wearable.
My Faraway Field Oxford has developed a split seam after only 3 months of occasional wear! I've contacted Clark's customer service to get a replacement. I had a lengthy email exchange where I had to provide them with a receipt, serial numbers from a shoe, pictures of a defect etc. Eventually they concluded the pair MAY BE defective. They stated I have to ship the defective shoes to them AT MY EXPENSE. Then they will decide if it is truly defective, and may send me A COMPARABLE PAIR OF SHOES. Wow. It is their fault, but yet I have to pay for shipping, and they may send me beck not the exact model and color I purchased but some other pair of shoes? Thanks but no thanks. I am no longer Clark's customer. STAY AWAY!
my clarks wallabies fell apart after 3 wearings. The sole on the left shoe de-laminated. The store offered me a 50percent credit. These crappy shoes cost over 150 dollars. I will never set foot in a Clarks store ever again. Pissed in Portland.
I had the same thing happen to my Clarks. The quality has really gone downhill.
I had 2 expensive pairs of Clarks shoes, (one pair black, one pair brown), that I kept for best, therefore they were not used very often and looked brand new. I kept them for a few years in this condition.
I went to a wedding one day in my 'best' brown shoes and on the dance floor my shoes started to feel uncomfortable. To my horror I noticed that a large section of the sole had fallen off! On closer inspection I found that both soles were cracked right across the shoes in several places!
On returning home, I inspected the black pair, and the same thing was happening the those also!
I returned them to the local Clarks store and was told by the manager that it was because I had not worn them enough, and they have 'dried out' in my wardrobe. She explained that this always happens to shoes if they are not worn enough! In other words it was my fault, not poor quality shoes!. I have a pair of Rockport shoes that are worn even less than the Clarks shoes. They are almost 20 years old, and still look brand new and still have flexible soles (without cracks). Needless to say that I no longer wear Clarks shoes!
Just had second pair of Clarks (Tracker ?# 37516) fall apart. They replaced my first pair about two years ago with my first choice. This time they offered a 30% certificate. I told them no, I want a new pair of shoes. They are sending a shipping box and will make a decision after they inspect my shoes. If I have to pay for a new pair I will get SAS shoes which are made in the USA.
lack of costumer service
We were out shopping for a chest freezer this weekend, you know, price comparison shopping. We went to 4 different stores (H.H. Gregg, Sears, Home Depot and Lowe’s in Clarksville, IN). We were totally ignored at Lowe’s! I stood there at the freezers for about 10 minutes. I was even taking pictures. There were two employees not 15 feet away. NO ONE came up to me and asked if I wanted or needed help!
So we went home and I got on line, luckily I found the freezer I was looking at, at the store, (it was the best priced one of all 4 stores). It was also $10 cheaper on line with free delivery! We ordered it Sunday evening, got it before noon Monday. So I guess from now on, I’ll skip coming into your store and just shop online!
I’m use to the costumer service at Home Depot sucking (we rarely shop there). But I can’t believe we were TOTALLY ignored by the employees at Lowe’s!

shoe totally unglued from the rubbered portion of shoe purschased in early March--was not careless in caring for this shoe When I told a friend of mine she responded that they were well known for this problem I've worn Clark's for many years and love them I somehow obtained a 800# and was informed they would send a catelogue which I never received I am...

I bought a pair of shoes from Clark, paid 30.00$ and they are the most uncomfortable pair I' ve ever worn in my life.
Clarks is known for its comfortable shoes but mine gave me a real bad shoe pinch within 5 minutes of wearing it.
When I went to the store I was told it is the shape of the shoe that doesn't suit you, so we can not do anything about it.They can not return it, coz I've worn them for half a day despite having the original sticker on the shoe and original receipt as well.
I chose size EE and a very small heel, despite that they are least comfortable.
I, ve wasted my 30 pounds and dumped them, but learnt a lesson that there is no point going for a brand name as it is absolutely trash.
I have a defective pair of Clarks shoes which I presented to a Clarks store in Dubai. The Brand Manager claims that I have not purchased the shoes from his Clarks store in Dubai. While I assert the fact that I have indeed purchased these shoes from Clarks in Dubai, it surprises me that we continue to discuss superfluous point/proof of purchase, whilst the real problem lies with flawed material of the sole, as is apparent from the photos attached to this message.
Instead of acknowledging the problem & dealing with it professionally, Clarks rep in Dubai - Jashanmal is trying to 'sweep it under the rug'. Pictures speak a 1000 words & the attached photos clearly indicate the ‘crumbling’ & falling away of rubber lumps from the soles.
The shoes are in pristine condition i.e. sparingly used & still in the original packing.
I had the option of choosing several shoe brands & decided to purchase Clarks. It now appears that I have made the incorrect choice.
I just don't get people who think it's alright to wear something and then decide they don't like it and try to return it. You're now trying to give the store used merchandise, something they can not sell because you couldn't be bothered to try them on before buying.
If you bought them online then you should have tried them on immediatly, not worn them out and about.
You are not entitled to a refund on used merchandise, end of story.
Sole detached from top of shoe
I was at church and noticed that my right Clarks shoe had fallen apart. The sole detached from the top of the shoe as I was ushering. These were my Sunday shoes and occasionally worn.
Checked this site and called [protected] to discuss with the company. They were very helpful and had me choose a replacement pair to ship out free. I offered to send back the defective pair but they declined.
Quite remarkable! Will follow up if there are any additional replacement issues. But so far happy with their resolution.

Foot Injury
I purchased a pair of trainers from Clarks shoes but the solid integrated arch support has severely damaged my plantar fascia. I have been unable to walk without being in constant pain for the past 2 months. I have written to Clarks but they are denying there is a fault in the design. I normally do a lot of walking and have never in over 40 years had any problems. If they felt that arch support was necessary in their trainers, surely soft, flexible ones would have been more appropriate, as oppossed to the the cheaper, rigid, solid ones they have used.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have the same problem here. After wearing a brand new pair of Clarks shoes that I bought last month, my feet are hurting so bad that I couldn't do much walking now.
Sole & heel disintegration
I am a handicapped 74 year old woman. I put on my Clark's sandals this morning to drive to get some food. I noticed my sandals did not feel right but thought it might be my feet. When I got back in my car I noticed a large chunk of black "dirt" by the brake which turned out to be from my shoes. When I drove home I looked at my soles and found they were torn...

ok. I came here searching because I just put on a pair that seemed perfectly fine but by the time I got to work and walked around for 30 minutes i felt my shoe falling off. LITERALLY falling off. They had disintegrated. Really! I was leaving a trail of foams stuff everywhere i walked and they had split so badly in so many places that i had to take them off. I just purchased 2 new pairs of Clarks at a holiday sale adn i am seriously considering taking them back to the store. This is rediculous.
I agree with you fully. I have had four pairs in the last 3 months fall apart at the seam. And yes just yesterday I had a navy pair on at work and had to borrow a co workers shoes to get home in. I am never buying clarks shoes again.
