Dillard's problematic return

I purchased a queen comforter and small throw rug approx. 11 days ago; after careful consideration, I decided to return both items. After pulling out my receipt, I told the sales associate that I would like to return the items because I changed my mind. She scanned the POP tag and looked at my receipt- She then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't return the items because they had already been returned. "How is that possible? The items are right here. Please call your manager, " I asked her.
The manager came over and said that it could be done, but we would have to go to customer service. Again, the three employees kept stating that it had been returned yesterday at the Penn Square store (where I originally purchased the items).
At this point I started to feel as if I had done something wrong, and they still did not want to give me cash back ( I had paid by check that had already cleared my bank); they were going to give me a store credit.I told them no way- I want my money back.
Finally, they refunded my $123; the bedding manager did ask me "Are you sure you didn't try to return these things at Penn Square yesterday?" I was appalled! I hadn't even been to the Penn store since my purchase! What was he getting at? Why would I still have the items if I had returned them?
Finally, I collected my cash and told the customer service lady thank you, which I had to say THREE times before she acknowledged me. Also, they didn't give me back my old receipt or my refund receipt - which they have always done!
Needless to say, I felt like I had done something wrong- like I was a criminal. I was just waiting for the police to arrest me as I left the store.
I shop there a lot, but I honestly don't know if I want to go back.

Dillard's do not work there

Ok, all you need is a warning to NOT WORK THERE. seriously you don't wanna go thru the things other I, my friends, and other employee's have with this so called company. Here are some reasons...

***They have a very unreasonable "Sales Per Hour"
They pull this sales goal from the air... seriously... If you do not achieve this goal your pay will be cut!

3 months from date of employment (NO PAY CUT)
3 months from last review---can result in pay cut of 10%
3 months from last review---can result in pay cut of 10%
Yearly reviews after that or you have already been fired.

** For you to make your sales you have to take sales from other people or your area has to be short staffed.
The thing is, there over staffed, so there is only like 1 to 2 people that will make there sales goal (depending on whats going on). But, if you do manage to get your goal, you can make a raise of up to 10%.

***You can also be terminated for being "tardy" more than 8 times in a 6 month time frame. Tardy is defined as more than 5 minutes late!

***You are also expected to do tons of markdowns where you have to scan and ticket EACH ITEM. before 12 NOON, You could have over 1, 000. While you are doing markdowns, you are still expected to sell and make your quota.

***You are also expected to open 1 new credit account per week (every 40 hrs worked) . If you don't, you will get in trouble but not fired.

*****You also have to sign an arbitration agreement before you even get hired so that you have to go through Dillard's "mediators" if you choose to seek legal action against the company.*********

*** The policies are always changing...no one really knows whats going on. It's really hard to stay positive when you have no direction. It doesn't seem like the managers really have much training so they are always flustered and avoiding associates

*** You never even allowed to have a weekend off

*** On Sundays, Your not EVEN allowed to have a break, you work 6 hrs straight! They even lock the break room, so you cant get in. Thats Right NO BREAK. AND WITH THAT Monday-Saturday you only have 1 break thats your lunch for only an hour. YEP.

AND ITS STILL OWNED BY THE DILLARDS FAMILY. WHICH ARE VERY RUDE, and try to find things wrong with you and your dept. A lot of people who work for Dillards are unhappy and always talk about leaving.

Dillard's will ALWAYS be hiring BECAUSE most people leave when they FIND OUT HOW this company is ran.

I had an interview. Fragrance managers both females were very pleasant people and kind. Both females treated me with respect and for that they earned my respect in return. Then I had a second interview and I believe she is above the others to make the decision and let me tell you. She treated me very hostile and rude. Everything you said describes my worst fears of that company. That last interview sealed the deal for me two walk away. Maybe that manager treated me horribly so I wouldn't work their lol . Mite as well write me a secret note and place it on the desk that says,"run ."!

I'm sorry for how you were treated and I hope more people come forward and others get informed this is a unethical company. Thanks for posting ✊

I've never worked there but skimming the comments here, I can warn you not to work anywhere that has you sign away any portion of your legal rights to sue them in the court system. Big, red flag. The Dilliards near me is always empty of customers, I can't believe they are telling employees to sell certain amounts per hour. To who? Furthermore, "cutting pay"-I doubt that's even legal, and to $6.75 hr, I don't think that's legal either...

I worked for Dillard's for 7 years and always hit or surpassed my sales goals. STILL, I agree with all the statements above. I wasted 7 years of my life with this draconian company. If you want to know what being a lowly peasant feels like, work for Dillard's. I was stuck in traffic and had an "EXCEPTION" for arriving late. I begin thinking about the amount of stress I was under for peanuts in pay. I told my coworkers goodbye, clocked out, never to return.

I would never consider working there, first off, but you have to be a fool to even shop there. Half the employees are rude and stuck up and the prices completely suck. Everything I have ever hag given to me from there went straight to Goodwill. I was unfortunate enough to get a gift card from there for a birthday gift, and couldn't even give it away- no one wanted to pay their outrageous prices. I finally stuck in in a gift card raffle for charity. $25 there won't usually even by a marked down shirt.

I took this job for enjoyment 2 YEARS AGO! I retired from a pharmaceutical company to live closer to my grandchildren and I am not fortunate enough to not work. I can't believe how degrading a company can make you feel. I work in the home department and have watched good, hard working people get fired, get their pay cut and loose their job. It is pitiful. I was just informed I will be receiving a pay cut because my SPH (which is unattainable) has not been met. Never in all the years I have worked (over 25 years) have I been told I would receive a pay cut because of my performance or had any performace issues.

We need to unite. We are all working in a "right to work" enviornment". Meaning Dillard's has no regard for any of us. No unions are any where near us and because we sighned this agreement this means we are screwed. Well folks, I came from Northern Illinois, and I am not going to sit back and take this. If you need to cut my pay because of the economic issues in the world, I will take it but not because I apparently cannot make 1 of the challenges that comes with working for this company. Unattainable SPH's and [censored]'s for a credit card company. These are not everything that I do or do not to maintain my employment at Dillard's.

I am tired of having to explain to my guests new policies every other day, training the next group of new hires, chasing guests and tripping over my team (we can not be a team by the way), working in the stock room so I can loose even more sales, falling off ladders, lifting over 20 lbs, opening stock and displaying thier merchandise, constant markdowns with stickers handing all over the place because no one has time to actually put them on because we are too busy with scanners that don't work. Software and hardware that is not user friendly wasting more time to my already frustrating day (the only thing that saves me is the fact that I have a 2 year degree in business and have used computers for 20 years). Of yes, being the deliverer of the credit card advertiser when we are in a recession. That really makes me feel like I am helping and care about my guest by putting "Guests" in payment hell. It makes me sick.

We need to unite. I am contacting the governor of ohio, the States Attorney and writting my experience to a free press newspaper in Toledo. People, we do not need to be treated like this. You will also realize that Dillard's only has stores in states that have these legal loophools that fit their criteria. It is time for me to file a complaint, I hope you do. Fight for yourselves, NORMA JEAN HAS JUST SPOKEN. Take care, al

I just started working at Dillard's. And I'm already ready to run.I can not stand my feet killing me. Imagine standing for 6hours in heels. Thank god i have flats. But my feet still hurt. I'm still in the training time. And they make you work almost every department. They keep sending me into children's which doesn't get any sales. I told them I wanted to work in purses. So for one day I did and I sold alot. But one woman thought I was stealing a customer and tattled on me. So the manager made me work next to children's department the home department which guess what makes no sales. This job sucks I miss working at Albertsons. And thats saying alot.

I worked at Dillards for a 1 1/2 years back in 2005 which was 1 1/2 years too long. The managers don't appreciate anything you do. I and a few other people were always counted on to do all the markdowns in our deparment while everyone else would sale. In order to make your sales you have to basically steal other peoples customers which happens a lot. I've seen a large number of employees get into arguments over customer stealing. They do nothing to advertise to get customer to come into the store. But who would want to come and shop there. The prices are out of this world and they never mark anything down low enough to pay until the season is over and by then who wants them. I spend so many days just standing around because there wasn't a single customer in the store and my area was spotless. I started a 8 dollars and left at 6.75 which was less then I was making working at a fast food restaurant that I was working at before I started then. When you're hired in the manager will make it seem so easy to get your sales goal that you thinking yeah I can do this. It's impossible to do. They are so high. If you ever need a job Dillards is the place to look, they are always hiring. The have a high employee turned over rate every week there will be new faces to meet.

I have been with Dillards for only 7 months and I am ready to leave. I have always considered myself a hardworker. I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle working here. They cut your pay and hours then raise your sales goal . I think I would like to work for a company that cares about their people. We take our jobs very seriously and the company could care less. My first real review was in January. My pay was cut and my sales goal was reduced and 3 weeks later was raised again.

Dillard's fraud and scam

The contest rules clearly state there is no purchase required to enter. However, one of the REQUIRED items one must fill out, whether entering via computer or by mail, is a registration #. Now, since I have not made a purchase, I do not, obviously, have a registration #. I notice when reading others' complaints about this contest, that their registration numbers from their receipts do not allow them to complete their on-line registration for the contest, in any case. I do believe Dumb and Dumber, and Dumbest must run this company and the shopping spree is just a microcosmic example of everything that is wrong with this company. Never shopping there again!

Dillard's sister fired

My sister was fired 4 days ago for not making her sales quota in children shoes. This store is overpriced for the area it is in. No one can afford to shop there so no sales are to be found. She asked to be transferred to another department but they would not do it. She was the first group of employees to be hired at this location when the store opened. They fired 6 others for the same thing. Good employees but a family of rich people over in Arkansas who don't care.Shame on you Dillard family.

I have been a Dillards customer, but right now I am furious. It is August 11 and Dillards has only a few items on sale at 50% off. Most other stores have their summer merchandise on sale @ 75% off. I agree that Dillards is overpriced to begin with, and the fact that they hold on to their summer merchandise seems to be just pure GREED!

School starts here next week and nobody will be going on any summer vacations so nobody will need any of their summer clothes or shoes. Their parking lot was practically empty when I drove up. If they can't sell their merchandise at a decent price when people need them I hope they never sell it.

I wanted a simple sun dress for my vacation. I can't wear sundresses to work, so I would only get to wear it on my vacation once, maybe twice this year so I certainly was not going to pay any more than 75% off for a dress that I could wear once. It will be out of style next year.

Mr. Dillard, You are a greedy old man

If you were asked in your application or interview if you had ever stolen anything, and you claimed that you hadn't - then yes - you can be fired at any time - for cause.

And the employer would be correct in disputing your unemployment claim as well.

Yup !
I worked at that dillards back then when I was in college, and Duane is his name he sure did throw a stapler at an employee and his little side kicks assistant mangers are no better, The are all unprofessional and they all talk about there employees and as soon as omeone gets fired or quits they laugh and say such rude remarks about them. It's I know I said how unprofessional the managers were and boy I heard it they callled me in the office and said I was talking down to the managers and they would not tolerate it in the place of business but wait you guys can assault people and say rude remarks about your employees and no one can say anything back. I remember I told that pshyco assistant manager Red hair Mary Hoofart off she is weak minded and finds fun in trying to humiliate staff until someone tells her off then she shakes like crazy cause she doesn't know what to say. And its true if you purchase something with a wrong price its called suspious but wait managers don't even ring up there merchandise they just take it to there back office and hide it and put it in a bag and walk out of the store, I remember seeing family members of managers shopping all day and they kept putting stuff in the back office and the rules are if the family member lives with you then you can purchase it with your discount. well all these grown ### men and women don't have 2 0r 3 40 year old women and men living int he same home but oh I forgot they can do that. DILLARDS ARROWHEAD DON"T SHOP THERE... Go to Macys instead.

Dillards holds grudges against minorities look at there managment scale, If your not white you can not be a manager, even other manager that were of color look they did not last long they found a way to get rid of them. Especially arrowhead mall in glendale, az. this store is racist and discriminates on there employees. even customers can get questioned as they walk out of a store because they assum they are stealing. Employees are treated worse if they make a mistake and charge someone wrong, you get the boot no if and or buts, your out of there and they will find a way to fit it into there rules . My friend was let go because she bought pants that had wrong prices on them and because she bought the items she got fired how stupid is that ! Your company labels merchandise and tickets merchandise to sell at sale prices and if an employee bys it be careful your job is on the line. And when customers come in with reticketed merchandise you can sell it to them because it not there fault even though they pulled the ticket off other merchandise and placed it on theres and managers tell you don't argue just ring it up it's a sale. I am so glad dillards has lawsuits against them, OH! even the store manager at arrowhead has a pending assault on him from a dillards employee...

Dillard's dillards and the way they treat their employees 2!

I have been an employee at Dillards in kenner for a very long time. As an employee upper management has to be the worst i've ever seen, they treat as if you are ### on the bottom of their shoes. As an example our ops manager Olie, is a very rude, and obnoxious person. He feels that because of his position in our line of work that we are inferior to him. Another example is the store manager who feels that we the employees' are her children (i can see why GOD has not blessed her with children). She walks around and speaks to some of my fellow co-workers such as those who work on the dock as if she was their mother (oops she doesn't have any children). I have also heard the store manager talk to dept. Manager as if they were crap.

Inventory was the worst i have ever seen. We worked 8 hours without a break, some of the older people who have to take medication, was not allowed that privileged, due to them forcing us to work without a break. Macy's going to be open very soon and me and several other employees wont have to take this abuse again.m Please Comment dillards esplanade employees. Do not be afraid to comment.

Dillards fcking sucks no raises or acknowledgment of appreciation for doing a great job or coming in on a day off to upload a big truck. Dillards takes advantage of every worker they can. Company ran like a personal piggy bank by the dillards sons, just one big competition. Dock workers receive no bonus nor raises ever unless 20 years goes by for another generation to be turned inside out by this company. Seriously I wouldn't work here more than 6 months or less believe me your life won't amount to anything.

I work for Dillard's & I hate it here. Looking for another job. I have only been here for six months & yet I have seen over 15 people fired in the last 3-4 months over something as small as $10 below there goal or missing one credit card application for a month. There is a reason they are #2 as far as worst companies to work for.http://www.foxbusiness.com/personal-finance/2012/08/10/americas-worst-companies-to-work-for/ REMEMBER: If their employees don't make their daily sales goals they can be fired after three months. So sad that in today's economy that you have to work a sale just to keep a job. How can a company treat their employees like that is beyond me. It's really sad when you have a store like the one in Florida that has low traffic as everyone prefers to go to Orlando to shop at the better malls & yet my daily sales goal for a Wednesday is around $800. REALLY? I will be lucky to get $200 for a 5 hour day at that store. management makes promises and yet they don't keep them & forget about asking for time off as it won't happen. I had requested my daughters birthday off so she could have a sleep over. I was told no problem, as I gave the notice 3 months in advance. What did they do, they put me on the schedule to close that day. Her party had to be cancelled & she was highly upset. Family doesn't matter to this company.

Obviously you must be a new employee, manager, or a Dillard's himself writing this last comment because the conditions stated before yours are exactly true and as an ex employee of Dillard's and having worked at other big box retailer I can say employees are disrespected, talked down to, work under extreme conditions, and under the concept of do as I say, and do as I say! Not a role model leadership. I'm glad you work in a store that gives you the surroundings of a good environment, but please pay close attention to those with complaints as they come from different store around the region. Maybe the Dillard's should start paying close attention to their employees as well. A happy employee in turn means a happy customer. I disagree with you on one level. Sometimes the grass can be greener on the other side!

I have worked for Dillards for 12 years and I have to say that all of the company's stores are not run exactly alike..The store I work in is a great big family of employees who have worked steadily with each other for decades. We have a lot of real old-timers here who continue to exceed their selling goals and make marvelous raises each and every year. In my personal work history, I have worked for Sak's Fifth Avenue and for Macy's and I absolutely hated both of those companies. ( I really wish I could erase the nasty five years that I waisted at Sak's ) who's store manager was a big drunk that mentally and verbally abused her assistant managers and entire staff. Macy's just eats people for lunch and spits out overworked associates like slimy used pistachio shells. Dillard's (while not being the most organized corporation in the world) is still Family-owned and seems to be constantly improving it's fashion offerings and vast cosmetics strengths.
And I can simply say, that if any employee thinks the grass is greener out there, then take it from me...it's not!
Dillard's treats it's employees SOOOO much better than it's competitors do.
I'm going to stay with Dillard's and help to make it better!

I worked for Dillard’s through a private security company, Securitas. Within three days I was shocked to see, racial profiling. The camera man only had us follow black people and their families. It took just three days to see this. I went to the store manager, Amy, and she was on the defensive. I tried to explain the family I was told to follow, were just shopping like any other family. Her response, "black families steal too." I stepped back and apologized for taking up her time, it was then she said, no, no, no... I appreciate the information and she wanted me to report any future problems. WOW! I could not believe how dismissive she was. Now get this, her good "friend" Colleen was in charge of security for this Dillard's. Colleen’s close friend is the "camera man", needless to say I was a proud member of the Dillard's pu pu list. Well, such is life, right? Well, I left after three months, way too much crap this company dishes out to there people. I didn’t work for Dillard’s, my company contracted security for Dillard’s. Well the North store is the men’s store, this store has two ASM‘s, assistant store managers, Diane and Jeffrey. These two were the best Dillard's had to offer from management… Harder working ASMs do not exists. But, Amy doesn't like them, if I was to guess she knows they both can do her job and do it much better, I.e. a threat. Long story short they both were fired, the excuse was the numbers for that store were too low. Lets say it the way it is, Mr. Dillard past, his son’s took over… Dad must be rolling over in his grave. Just a quick back ground on myself, 9 years military and 14 as a Deputy Sheriff, 3 month providing security to Dillard’s. Dillard’s doesn’t believe in fair labor laws, they are not an equal opportunity employer, yes they hire women, black people, Hispanic people, gay people and so on. But once they are in, it is not a fair firm and consistent environment. This Dillard’s management, is a BIG law suit awaiting to happen. Don’t believe me, just go to Melbourne Florida’s square mall, apply for a job at Dillard’s and see for yourself, but don’t say I didn’t warn you…

It is really sad that a new store like that has so many problems. Speaking of managers: what is that woman in the ladies department doing working without teeth. There is no medical problems where you can't wear dentures. Can someone explain this picture to me. She dresses professional but when she opened up her mouth, my daughter screamed.
Whoever hired her should have told her about the dental plan, if Dillard's offer dental insurance.

For the past year I have been working at Dillard’s in the Coweta Area. At first it seemed to be a great opportunity to work at Dillard's. As time went by, one could notice the unprofessional attitudes of all the managers. I know of well educated young girl whom as had many problems with her manager and the store manager, dealing with her future plans to start college in the fall: time needed off for preparations to start college < not received or acknowledged. One should not have to go though this and I know for a fact that NO JOB NO MANAGER NO STORE MANAGER WILL HOLD THAT CHILD BACK FROM MAKING HER GOALS IN LIFE!

Dillard's paycuts

Dilards punishes their employees if the economy is bad. People are not shopping as much and its the employees that receive paycuts because of a thing called sales per hour. How are we supposed to sell if no one is consuming? Either we feed our kids or pay our rent, we cant do both working for this company. I had to give up my home because of dillards paycuts. This is shameful and hurtful. And i am one amongst plenty who is suffering from this. Dismayed soon to be ex-employee.

This complaint is several months old but is still being heard around Dillard's stores. Employee morale is extremely low due largely to the combined effect of this policy: 1st management sets unrealistic sales goals, then they don't do the advertising necessary to bring in the shoppers, next they have such bad air conditioning that here in Florida shoppers constantly complain that it's too hot to try clothes on, and finally this "survival of the sneakiest" has resulted in such bad blood among salespeople over customers being "stolen" from each other that employees' nerves are just ragged. When you go in to shop now employees aren't the least shy about asking if you know of any available jobs... that's pretty sad!

Dillard's scam and cheating!

Tried to enter their on-line contest with the site printed on my receipt - not dillards at all! It is some survey company that went on and on - page after page offering promotions for other companies! I kept clicking "no" and finally the site instructed me to click "yes" to at least one item, so I disconnected. I am truly surprised that Dillards would involve themselves in something so deceptive and misleading. I am very disappointed in Dillards!

I did find the website for registering for the $2500 shopping spree, but after entering all the information, it came back that I had an invalid registration number. I know I had entered it correctly, so I tried another receipt with a different registration number going through the whole process again, and it also came back as being invalid. I am so disgusted at this point, that I am quitting with trying to get a valid registration. To get to the registration form, I had to put the WWW.DILLARDS.COM/SHOPPING SPREE in the address line and all in caps for it to work. For all the good it did me!

Dillard's treatment from personal

I have been a employee at Dillards in the Esplanade Mall for a few years, i feel that our personal department is very uncaring, and treats employee's like crap. Over the past few months the turnover has been very large, our personal manager walks around and looks down on her employees', and also the operation manger thinks that he is God. I'm sure that when Macy's opens 95% of the employees will be gone, including myself. There is no care or compassion for their employees or their families. In addition to not being appreciated and treated like crap Dillards is a very nice company to work for, its just the personal, store manager, and operations manager who makes it very hard to work in their envoirment. Can someone advise them that they do not own Dillards and that they are employees just like the rest of us, and can be replaced just as us.

I have to agree. I worked at the Dillard's St. John's Town Center in Jacksonville, FL and it was the worst experience I have endured from a Department Store. First, let’s start with the Executive Management from the store. Wow! what a bunch of unprofessional group of men up there! They alleged that employees do things that they do not actually do. Obviously, they do not follow proper procedure for determining an employee’s guilt or innocence. They continually lie about employee’s performance and push unrealistic advancement opportunities with the company. They also do not recognize how hard employees work and what they go thru in order to perform to companies standards.

I am so disappointed that Dillard’s has become so unprofessional and so misleading to the work force. I really hope that they change this and address this issue with store management.

I have been working for Dillards in San Antonio Tx North Star Mall for a very long time. Most people may think that this is a reputable company to work for. But contrary to this prestigiousness. The Management is unbalievably unproffessional. On numerous occasions a manager has been bold enough to call us mediocre. I have to say that recenlty I feel as if working here has driven me to the point of depression and my stress levels have never been this high.It drove me see a doctor, and even at that they called me at home to see if I was really feeeling ill. They have NO compassion for me as a person. I dont feel they are fair in many ways. I am one their employees who has good work ethic, I love what I do, But they make it vey hard to want to work there anymore. It seems as if people are conststly getting accused of doing their job wrong. There is always , a lot of favoriteism and politics going around.Despite all this, I think that is one of the main reasons people dont last. I have seen many people come and go. I refuse to be a part of such a unfair practice. I know that they take advantage of the employess who need their jobs, the most . Single parents. People with children to feed and a mortgage. They take complete advantage of these individuals. as is working retail was'nt hard enough. We have many side duties. Such as Inventory, and the hours for this is unrealistic. So if you are thinking of joining the dillards team. Think again. Be prepared to not having a life.I refuse to work here anymore, I know that there is a better opportunity out there for me.With a company that apprecaites a hard worker, with respect and loyalty!

Dillard's cannot get on the above website!

Tried several times to get on the $2500 Dillard's shopping spree at the site mentioned on my sales slip, i.e.:

www.dillards.com/shoppingspree

It took me to a site where I could sign up to register to be a "survey taker" to win $2500, but not connected to Dillard's. Another try took me to Dillard's site, but shopping and nothing regarding the above mentioned shopping spree. It looks like this is a fraudulent situation.

Beware!

Thanks!

I have been a long time shopper with Dillards and even tho I have moved to a state with no stores, I continue to shop online. I just finished shopping with you and spent another $450 and your online reciepts dont give a registration number and the confirmation number doesnt work either. So how can you run a sweepstakes like this. Thank god your stores arent run in the same disconnected manner. Maybe you should get someone more qualified to handle your sweepstakes online...just a thought...can you fix this for me so I can enter ? I will be pretty upset if you ignore me. Thank-you,

Dillard's racial profiling

While an employee of Dillard's Department Stores, located in the Palm Beach Lakes Mall in West Palm Beach FL, I was physically accosted and manhandled by a member of the Loss Prevention department after being erroneously and falsely accused of stealing.

Upon assisting a elderly customer by carrying a very large box of housewares to his car he'd just purchased, a white male security named Thomas came running out of the store and physically attacked and verbally insulted myself and the hapless customer in a botched effort to apprehend us and repossess paid merchandise. I was working on the clock during this horrifying incident and based on another security gaurd's own statements, I had been under scrutiny since the day I started working and they assumed that because I was a young black man I was predisposed to steal something sooner or later. As Thomas, the rogue security guard put it, "We finally got you, we've had our eyes on you from day one." The store's manager, Eileen Ruggieo, later criticized, chastised, and lambasted me for helping a customer carry merchandise out of the store and that I bought the physical attack and apprehension by the security guard on myself for going above and beyond my job duties. Eileen Ruggieo [protected], then fired me under the store rule that no employee is to leave the premises while actively on-the-clock. There is an old axiom that says, "No good deed goes unrewarded." Well I am living proof that Dillard's dispelled that theory.

For users. And Dillard's INC. Corporate office is the question of how you choose their manager. Shame on you that being one of the largest stores in the USA. Do not have an awesome customer service. But not only customer service, also serving employees. that in many Dillard's store employees are treated like dirt. for example in the state of the FL. a Manager in Tampa called the Executioner, a very cruel to employees, unbearable, discourteous, rude, kaffir, lacking education, may I ask where you got the title of manager. because you are not a manager. all those names and you could say more but the real name (James Pratt) the corporate They should dismiss this man is a reckless with employees. when corporates are not in the store. Strange things happen. But they are afraid to adjust the bald maybe because they sell a lot. better service to people who have gold and silver. what kind of values is a corporation that has people like numbers. ?

I think if the customer that this person helped, if they had a store receipt, then the employee who helped this person carry the package to the car should have received an apology. However if not then they had every right to fire this person. I think race shouldn't always be brought up whenever something happens. It could have had nothing to do with it. The race card is still being played and it should no longer be allowed as an excuse to get a person's way. There are the same if not more opportunities out there for black americans as they are any other race. Now if the guard comments were unfounded and he admitted they they had been watching this person and they had no reason to, then the security guard should be fired, but lets leave the race card out of everything and just take responsibility for ones on actions. If this guy got fired for a legitimate reason, then he shouldn't bringing color into it.

Dillard's shopping spree deception

My receipt from Dillards offered me an opportunity to "Win a $2,500 Shopping Spree!", stating that "No purchase necessary to enter." This, I discover, after spending an hour wading through many screens of offers, each screen of which REQUIRED me to purchase "at least one offer" as a requirement to proceed to the next screen, ad infinitum. This comes under the auspices of fraud and deception, whereby the Dillards Store's offer to win is actually a device to require a purchase in order to qualify! That, my friends is FRAUD. I had hoped that Dillards was above time-wasting, deceptive selling practices. I am NOT AMUSED by this artifice. I DO plan to email ALL individuals on my address listing a copy of this complaint and allow them to decide whether Dillards is a store they should choose to patronize in this VERY competitive market. I do NOT wish to make further purchases at Dillards, regardless of whether the person who designed this fraudulent registration was employed by Dillards or not. Yes, your offer is certainly "VOID" of any business ethic I know, and your store environs are now "PROHIBITED" as far as I am concerned.

Hi. I used to work for Dillards. I hate that place. Upper management anyway.. All i have to say is that the sales person did not know her stuff. You could have gotten the free sample any day of the week. the key is to find ONE good sales person you like there in each dept (yes, each stinkin one). then your person will recognize you whenever you buy, will call you, email you and sometimes snail mail you for each event that takes place in your store. Dillards effectively pits all the employees against one another by demanding impossible sales goals in 3 month increments (nothing you can do about that so you might as well make the best of it) or you get demoted and/or a loss in pay. Anywhoo, once you are a repeat customer all the goodies will start flowing in. All the make up counters have empty containers for you to take samples home to try. Some might only be a few days. If they give you trouble, take your business elsewhere.

Dillard's lack of customer service in credit dept

Long time customer, great credit. They use to charge for online payments so I would go into store for instant credit on acct. Since I travel for my job I wasn't able to go into store. Mailed it instead! What a mistake, mailed in plenty of time. Where is the payment? Called to explain, inadequate operator # [protected] could only offer apologies. Wouldn't waive the "Late Fee" tried to speak to manager. Half hour later, "Gee, they must of gotten disconnected" Call back another time was her solution. This is a Saturday, busiest retail day of the week, middle of the day and no one to speak to. Well, they don't care about their customers, going to the store and making final payment and will close the acct at the same time. Very sad they don't care. Operator said they don't charge now for online payments, well checked it out so long ago, got into the habit of dropping payment off, and was an excuse to see what was new in the store. Well Dillards, don't worry now, take my "preferred customer VIP" status and put it where the sun don't shine.

I agree Dillards is a gigantic rip-off. This company does not care about the customers anymore than they do the employees. When I worked there a while ago they stated in an interview that they follow unethical practices in order to maximize on their profits. If I were you I would consider shopping online somewhere else like Macys or Kohls where they hire employees based off of their experience and mainly not the color of their skin. Dillards discriminates in so many ways that it is unbelievable. Lets pull together as consumers and stop shopping in a place that does not adhere to our needs. The clothes that they sell can be found at any other retailer and for much cheaper. The customer service at this store is horrible. Dillards sucks pass the word onto your friends.

Dillard's mistreatment of employees

I am one of your older customers as are many of my other friends who like to shop at Dillards, but find it difficult to locate a place in convenient locations to sit for a few minutes to "regenerate" and continue our shopping. Many of my dollars have been spent though the years at your store in Longmont. Colorado and that is one of our pet peeves that would help us remain true to the department store and not BIG BOX horrors of the younger generation. Another PLUS would be small attractive shopping carts to aid us in traveling from one department to another without having to run back and forth to the parking lot to unload merchandise as we proceed through the different departments.

Although I use your credit card often I also frequently pay cash or use my airline miles card to pay for items I purchase. Just Remember us "old timers " often have more disposable income than do the younger generation! Thanks for your consideration, and for asking for complaints from LOYAL customers.

Marilyn Palmer

Dillard's are bullies. They love control. Their stock is low, their treatment of employees is awful from what I have seen as a previous customer. Their buyers need to learn how to buy. I have been in retail and have not seen such crap being ordered. the entire mask vaccine thing they are running on their employees needs immediate correction! Will not shop there or in any place that mandates masks be worn. They are heading down a real slippery slope. Spoke with many employees who say if they are not vaccinated they must wear masks. For me as a consumer, this is not acceptable.

Oh at the store lighting at Dillards in Prescott Gateway Mall is a complete joke along with the dirty fitting rooms. check out the dust around the baseboards in your fitting rooms along with the stains on the carpet and you have the nerve to instruct your employees to be masked...what a damn joke!

I am a customer. I paid for my Estee Lauder purchase on the phone. Purchase was my credit card. I went to pick up my purchase at Dillard's Department Store and it looked like a tornado hit it. Nobody knew what they were doing, nobody helped me, so I asked to speak with the manager. Some man came and he was not a manger, just a talking head. So I waited and waited patiently hoping to get my purchase.

Lo and Behold, they called the cops on me for sitting and waiting. They were not security but Police Officers. They had guns and were circling me like SHARKS! I thought I would be killed. They closed the circle around me getting tighter and tighter with their guns! For What? I was patiently waiting for my purchase paid in advance.

When I got home, I was shaking like a leaf. Then I read they have hog-tied blacks and Mexicans for uttering a word. I read where they have killed seven people in back for complaining. I am white! I did nothing wrong and felt my life was in severe damage or death.

I called Dillard's and complained of my ill-treatment. I got a fast call back from Mrs. Dillard in her ultra-cushy Gulfstream flying around. She knew she was in trouble.

Dillard's Department Store has been on 60 minutes for killing customers in the back of the store. Hog-tying customers and killing them seems to be the norm. They've killed 7 customers and maybe the number has risen. Dillard's is not a safe place to shop. They run the store like a concentration camp. Do not shop at Dillard's, you may lose your life.

The funny thing is, I'm related to these KILLERS!

I attempted to respond to a survey which suggests a 2500 shopping spree. The survey questions were endless and required that I sign on to at least one offer to participate in this spree. It explicitly states on the sales receipt no purchase necessary therefore why is it necessary that I must accept one of the offers. I view this as misleading and bordering on fraudulent. I will be forwarding a copy of this complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

Unhappy shopper.

As a Dillards card holder I will be cancelling my card & never shopping here again. Not only are they over priced but there is a reason they are #2 as far as worst companies to work for. If their employees don't make their daily sales goals they can be fired after three months. So sad that in today's economy that you have to work a sale just to keep a job. I will NEVER shop here again! Also if they don't get a credit card application done (at least five a week) they get into trouble also. How can a company treat their employees like that is beyond me. http://www.foxbusiness.com/personal-finance/2012/08/10/americas-worst-companies-to-work-for/

Once again, Dillards has shown their true colors..Just today a manager of the Ladies Dept. was fired because sales in her
department were down from last year at this time. We stupid Dillard's people..the economy sucks and people are not
spending money on high priced fashion that falls apart when you wear it one time. This manager has been with Dillard's for
15 years and was a great and loyal employee. I have only been with Dillard's for 6 months and already I hate they way they
treat their employees. Maybe all new upper management would make your stores successful. HEY MR. DILLARD..WHY DON'T
YOU GO ON THE SHOW UNDERCOVER BOSSES so that you can see how BAD your company SUCKS! and then I DARE you
to fix it and do something about it. Come see me, I will be more than happy to show you WHY your company will soon be
closing its doors in our state...NEXT UP: Boycott Dillard's! There are other places that sell the same thing for less.

I am glad to say I was not involved in the ugly behavior and stealing of sales, b/c I am not a cutthroat. I saw my manager fired before Christmas, whom I started to grow use too.
The male SM and one female Manager could not stand her. I saw unprofessional and inappropriate behavior being used by employees, like screaming across the store at another employee rudely. I received my schedule for January 09 and I was off on the 6th. Well my ASM who took the place of my manager, left me a note saying that I had to work Tuesday.
I wrote her a note before she told me this I had plans. When I told her this she got pissy with me. I went to talk to her in the office and she was talking about me to two other managers in her pissy attitude tone. I was standing there and I heard everything, she didn't know I was there. I was horrified and I told my SM. He never said anything to me and she never apologized. Later when I was in her office I saw another employee who was to have worked that shift, she was a pet and a 15 year employee who wanted her paid holiday. When employees were there half did not do there job, making it double work for people with good work ethics like me. The reason I was terminated was my absentees 4 weeks in 1 year when I had a 6 week medical leave. I suffer from 4 documented mental Illness and epilepsy that do effect me everyday, they are not curable and I will have to take meds my entire life. Some of these absentees were due from suffering from seizures after being upset and treated ugly at work also tragic events in my family, like death and trying to work and graduate a 4 year University. I didn't want my work to know b/c I felt for sure they would get rid of me and my doctor advised me not to. My previous employer knew this and a discriminative comment was made about people with mental illness. The Asm said she was looking out for her other employers, well why was she not coming to me when she saw me being absent and asking what was wrong. She didn't care, they use you and then get rid of you. Final I asked if I didn't have anymore absentees and didn't miss work, since I still had 2 weeks on my LOM. if I could stay and they said they didn't see how, so they were forcing me out. The SM is a Jerk, The ASM is a weirdo and has no communication skills with employees, RTW ASM only wants things her way and the accessories manager, everyone hates her. I know one thing what employees say about Dillard's is true.

All I wanted to do is enter the web contest at www.Dillards.com/shoppingspree. I could not find where to enter the contest on any of the pages.

Please make it easy for your customers to enter your contests! I am a true and loyal customer to Dillards.

The end result is I am a unhappy customer because you made it hard for me to enter your contest!

Dillard's beware of double billing!

I recently was double billed by the Dillards Store in Sierra Vista Arizona and when I tried to fix it and dispute it the local store and the manager had said it would be taken care of but nothing ever happened for me or my account. I was then referred to many 1-800 numbers to get the run around and the manager is never around, coincidence, I think not. Then I get a call from a collection agency to pay off this bill. I comes to find out I have finance charges is from a bill, that has been paid, and an account that no longer exist. Even after I took in the proper paperwork Dillards still charged me and I also found out that this store has done the double billing to more than myself.

People, I just posted a wrong address for all of those of you who want to register for the shopping spree. The correct address is
www.dillards.comshoppingspree. I gave the wrong address and I'm sorry for that mistake. Do try the www.dillards.comshoppingspree one and I believe you will have better results. And again if your computer does not allow you to register, please have it checked by a computer tech as you might have a virus or need some software updates. Best wishes, Noble, Okla.

People, may I suggest to go to this site to register for the shopping spree. At the top of your computer at the extreme left hand side of the screen is the http:// spot. Do not use google, or another search engine to register. Go to the top of your screen and type in this address;
www.dillards.comshippingspree. This will take you to the site whereby one can register the needed information and at the end of several informational questions you need to submit your registeration and then confirm it. I had no trouble going to the spot. Again, use the extreme left hand upper corner where the http is normally located. Best wishes. Noble, Okla.

Dillard's sucks!

I went to Dillard's for the first time yesterday. I asked for some assistance from two representatives.

One of them turned to the other and asked if she wanted to help me measure my bra size. The other had her face puckered like a four year old with her eyebrows looking like an evil troll and shook her head no! She look totally disgusted er something! What is up with this!? Of all my years going to Macys I've never received the type of nasty behavior from Reps as I did on my first visit to Dillard's.

Then the other rep finally was obliged to come help me find what I was looking for. I'm never going to Dillard's again. It's not worth the headache.

You would have thought they'd have cleared this up by now, wouldn't you? Anyway, I finally was able to register (mid June 07) but it wasn't easy. First I came up with the 'missing page' when I entered dillards.com/shopping spree. Then I went directly to dillards.com but could find no mention of the shopping spree. Finally I googled the entire url -- www.dillards.com/shopping spree. About 8 hits down I found a direct link to the registration page. That was easy enough until I was asked to confirm my registration number only to be told it wasn't a valid number. Two more tries and I was finally registered. Guess Dillards wants to make sure we really do want to win! Well, I do!

Dillard's shopping spree is a rip-off!

My receipt from Dillards gives details on how to win a 2,500 dollar shopping spree, but when I tried to access the web address I keep getting a message stating it's an invalid address. I used several search engines with the same results.

Rushie is the most racist manager at this store. If you're Asian do not shop there. I have filed a complaint about her to the corporate office.

I'm furious at Dillards Longmont, CO. I dropped off my two daughters to have them try on dresses today 2/23/13 and they were DENIED entrance by the dressing room attendant. The attendant told them that there were no dressing rooms for them. My daughter said they'd wait for one, and the attendant said they should put the dresses down and they should leave! My youngest daughter is a high school student who is shopping for prom in 2 months, and my oldest daughter is a mentally ###ed 20 year old who is going to SHINE next WEEK! It is an event put on by the church that is like a Prom party where a formal dress is required. She's so excited to go and needs a fancy dress. I think the attendant is prejudiced against my special needs daughter, and that is why she denied her entrance. I'm mad that Dilliards employs such an irresponsible person, making my daughter feel bad and sad. My special needs daughter had a credit card with her with her own money on it for shopping, and she had just purchased 5 sweaters with the help of her normal sister. She has a right to try on dresses, too. Boo Dillards! I can't believe this level of bad taste and customer service. I told my normal daughter she should have asked for a manager on the spot! Nasty, intolerant employee. BOO!
