We had been with Dish network for over 15 years...8 years here in Oregon, 6 in New Jersey. The biggest complaint is the discontinuation of channels that were part of the original packaging when we signed up...namely Fox Sports. 60% of our viewing is sports and when we were told in Feb of 2023 we would not be getting the Super Bowl, we had it! We called and were offered a one time $5 discount for not carrying that network any longer...HOW GENEROUS! Now, this month, no World Series...we have had it! I called to cancel and was told that there would be an additional $160 due because of a "contract for 2 years that was signed by voice" in February. We disputed this but were told they "had it on tape"! Why would I sign a contract for inferior service? They drop channels left and right and the consumer has no options...they don't lower the price, just continue to raise rates and slap on hidden charges! Numerous others have complained that the same thing happens when you return equipment..."they didn't get it, it was missing parts" will be returning equipment IN PERSON with photographic proof of items returned and a signature of the person receiving it. Otherwise you are slapped with a $300 charge for unreturned equipment! ENOUGH!
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response and refund of the $160 after being a long time customer
There not a place to return in NJ or Oregon. The facility is in El Paso Texas. So, nice drive. Also, they don’t take customers there, as you won’t even be allowed on the property. The tracking receipt from UPS/FedEx is your proof of return. It will include the weight on it.
Discontinuation of channels is something that happens to all providers. You don’t pay for any specific channel, so nothing to credit.
You ask why you would sign a contract for inferior service? Simple, because the IVR contract is for a reduced bill.
