WE collected the car and drove away quite happily. However when we dropped car back at Orlando airport on 22nd July we were told that we should have returned the car full of fuel. However when we picked up the car on the 08th July the fuel tank was not even half full. At the time, feeling very tired after the flight, we did not pick up on the fact that the Dollar Rep at the airport had completed the form to say that the fuel tank was full. It really was not full.
As we did not have the time to go and fill up with fuel I then had to pay a staggering $78.00 for fuel. This is terrible and not atall fair, it is such an inflated amount. I wouldn't have minded paying for the fuel but
1. The car was not full when we picked it up and
2. It cost us about $25 to fill the car up NOT $78 for half a tank.
I would like you to look into this and I would like a refund of $78.00.
I am a travel agent in the UK and we sell car hire regularly. however I do not feel that I will be recommending Dollar unless this refund is applied and then my faith restored. I do not feel that I have been treated fairly.

picking up a car
First time using rental cars.com. Ref# [protected]: landed on time in Richmond, Va., with paperwork to pickup my car at Dollar counter in the main terminal at 8 p.m. No one was there and no sign was posted directing to another location. An attendant for another company told me to go to Hertz counter in the parking garage. There I found a man trying to handle too many Dollar rental customers. When finally got my chance I gave him last name but his info had nothing noting my prepayment. He was asking for my credit card for a $200 deposit for the car, but he still could not tell me if the price on my paperwork would be what I would be charged. Obviously this guy had not been informed. This made me nervous so I told him I wanted to cancel reservation. I am used to renting from Enterprise where every thing is always above board and all charges appear in writing and attendants can answer questions. I went to Alamo/enterprise counter for relief and a car. I also called Priceline to complain and make sure reservation was cancelled. I see now on my charge card statement that $84.15 was charged on July 31 and another $48 on July 30. What was this for? My paperwork said I would be charged $84.15 and tax fees $28.55. This is my third attempt to submit this complaint. On Aug. 2 I arrived as booked by 8 p.m. to pick up a car #[protected] having used rental cars.com for the first time. I had a copy of the promised price. First problem was arriving at the Dollar counter in the terminal and finding it not staffed. After walking around searching for someone an Avis attendant suggested I go to the Hertz counter in the garage. I found one gentleman in a Dollar booth trying to help 4 people. When I finally got to the window there was no reference to my prices, nor reference that I had already been charged $84.15 on July 30 and $48 on july 31 . He couldn't confirm that my reservation was this pricing, also taxes and fees would be the 28.55 showing on my reservation papers. I panicked and asked to cancel the reservation. I found a Enterprice counter which conducts rentals upfront with pricing clearly noted on paperwork. Long story short, our windshield was broken 9hrs away from the pickup location. I called my insurance and filed the claim, I then called dollar customer service. I was hung up on and passed around for literally hours. Then I was told that the vehicle needed to be towed back to Jax, Florida from Tennessee and that I would need to take "Public Transportation" to the closest dollar for an exchange. The closest office was 2 HOURS AWAY! I have since had multiple charges posted to my account and no one I talk to can give me a reason why. They just tell me they will fall off in 15-30 days! One charge was for $245 the day after it was returned and two more charges this morning, one for $45 (which the woman insisted she credit back) and one for $73. I was told that will fall off too. I loathe this company with the fire of 1000 suns! They almost ruined our family vacation and I would rather be raped, murdered and left in a ditch than EVER use your company. I have written reviews anywhere I can, including BBB, google, booking.com, yelp, and dollar. I've rented several cars from enterprise and I will ALWAYS go back to them. Anyone not affiliated with you!

My daughter rented a car from dollar and paid $109 for a 2 day rental. She is 24 so we thought this was a good deal. I was sitting right next to her when she was talking on the phone to the rep. The rep told her if she pays the $109 in advance the young fee would be waved. My daughter completed the rental process, paid the $109 and felt she got a good deal. However, here is where the trouble starts. She attempts to pick up the car and the rep says she needs to pay $70 more for the underage fee. She attempts to cancel the reservation...nope already paid. He told her to call customer service. She had done that twice while renting and got the underage fee waived. Bad experience! She paid the fee and got the car. In reading many other complaints Dollar rental has done this before. Social media is a great advertiser for and against companies. How will this be resolved?

El problema es que lo devolví lleno y dollar me descontó a pesar de que el auto tenía el estanque lleno de bencina. Reconozco que no leí el contrato sino hasta llegar a miami y fue ahí donde me enteré que me descontaron el cargo por el estanque de bencina, a pesar de que lo regresé lleno. Por tanto, como cliente que soy de dollar, solicito se me reverse a mi tarjeta de crédito el cargo por la bencina, ya que lo devolví con el estanque lleno, tal como me dijo la persona que me atendió. I rented a car from LaGuardia, New York June 4 I was told I HAD to purchase the ez pass since I was driving to Canada. I asked if it was necessary and was told yes the car has them installed. So I paid the 80 something for it and left. Hit the first toll and it didnt work. I called and they were closed I emailed and took 5 days to hear back. When I returned the car in Buffalo on the 7th I examined how we were stopped at the border and had to pay cuz the ez pass didnt work. And secondly there was a pay as you go option the "lady's helping us in laguardia failed to mention. Now I have Bill's with admin fees for not paying the toll before hand. Yet the ez pass didnt work so how is that my fault! I have called multiple numbers emailed and sat on hold for 30 mins for everyone to claim that csnt help me yet they have no problem charging me! Someone needs to contact me to make it right!
To top it off I was just on hold and finally got someone on the phone for them again to telk me they cant help me. They got a supervisor on the phone and he kept trying to talk over for I made a noise gesture to say let me finish talking he said oh uh uh and hung up on me! What the hell kind of customer service is that.

I reserved a car through Dollar at Logan Airport. They wanted to charge me $10/day for a toll transponder. I'm thinking if I hit a toll I'll pay cash instead. They didn't explain that Massachusetts no longer has toll booths; everything is electronic. 3 weeks later I get several bills from 'dollarrentalfine.com'. The toll amount on one is $7.50! Dollar's admin fee? $45.00! Another toll is $15.00/Dollar admin fee is $105. I don't mind paying the toll plus a reasonable fee but this is pure gouging! I would like the admin fees reduced to something more reasonable.

Also we were sent to the wrong terminal by your staff and then had a long queue and further long overcrowded bus ride to the correct terminal this caused us a great deal of stress and inconvenience.

Our car on collection was extremely dirty. We drove to out accommodation and the next day realised there were two large ants nests in the car seats. This would not have been able to be missed if the car had been cleaned. We called Dollar who did not care and simply said we could return and swap the car at the airport. As we were only staying 6 days we did not have time for this. They refused to replace the car at our location or allow us to swap it in Orlando.
We purchased a $10 ant treatment and had to deal with the smell and lots of dead ants. It was a really poor service and my young daughter was distraught every time we went in the car.
We have had no response to our complaints to the company or compensation.

I dropped off my rental May 20. Immediately after We left in the shuttle, I realized I left my coat in the car. We didn't have time to go back, but the shuttle driver said they would mail it to me. I waited 10 days. Nothing. I went to the Lost and Found and filed online. They told me nothing had been turned in. Really?
It was a $200.00 North Face and could only have been taken by an employee.

On May 2 2019 I rented a car from dollar at Norfolk airport, a little before midnight. Upon receiving the car, we noticed low air pressure. I thought when we went thru check, we would get it resolved, since I was traveling with my daughter and grandchild. There was no check out ! Just straight out the lot, I would have had to turn around and go back into the airport. So I thought ok I'll just get air myself. We stopped got air the 1 tire had 10lbs the other 3 were at 14 lbs? How can this happen when just beginning your trip? We drove to our hotel which was in Va beach. The next morning the check air was again on, so we got air again, this repeated itself a total of 4 times, we only put 70 miles on it total during the rental, which was mostly to the airport and back. Sure enough Monday May 6th we had a blow out on the highway BTW the air cost me 1.50 each time. The biggest problem comes when I contact your customer service and was told that all additional expenses would be mine. They could not provide me approx cost or an approximate time to have repaired . I was told that I should have driven back to dollar the following day. Seriously I was in town for an event, was not even possible considering my time restraints! So with a flight that looked like I was going to miss, I called an Uber to get my daughter and granddaughter to the airport . An additional $22.00 dollars . I called my own road service and they came promptly and had me on the way to the airport on my little emerg spare. They even followed me to the airport ! What great customer service they had! Arriving at rental center I was beyond mad and stressed but had no time but to get to my flight, the girl wanted me to fill out a report ohhhh hmmm no so she had me sign I blank form and said she would . Which I know is setting myself up with another battle, but no choice I reluctantly signed and took photo of my signature on blank form. Which BTW my road service did not see any visible puncture to the tire obviously bad maintenance on dollars side. I simply want to know how you can rental a car and not know there is a tire issue, being that light came on upon starting the car ?

We went to the dollar desk at Atlanta Airport to collect our car booked through car rental 8 booking ref [protected] on 18th April 2019.
The person on the desk said we had to pay $543.94 but our agreement said $184.58. He said if we wanted the full insurance and additional driver this was the amount to pay. We said it should be included. He said we would need to take it up with car rental 8. We had to agree with the amount as we had no option as we needed the car. He did not explain the products to us. We are British and had not had a USA rental before.
We have taken up the charges with car rental 8 and they say we were charged the extra for Pai/Pec and Prem Road Serv which we did not need to allow the extra driver or full insurance on our original rental agreement that we showed the person at Atlanta Airport. We now know that this person miss sold us the extra charges we did not need. We want a refund of the extra charges amounting to $303.62 plus tax.
Furthermore we had a lot of problems when we arrived in the car park to collect the car. Our original rental time shows 10.02am. The person said go over to the car and pointed to a blue saloon. There was a staff person in it who then drove off. We asked and the person said he will be back with the car. We waited for a while and said where is the car? We were then allocated an SUV which we loaded with our luggage and went to leave the airport garage. We could not leave and had to take the car back. The tax was to expire before we were returning the car. We then had to get another car and transfer all our luggage to that one. We eventually left the airport garage at 11.24am. This meant we were an hour late on our journey.
We have spent some time in contacting car rental 8 and getting replies from them and now we are contacting you. This is not what we wanted to do on our vacation.
We are attaching the documents and look forward to a speedy reply.

I made a terrible mistake and rented a car from Dollar Rental..
Driving Dollar rent a car to cemetary to place flowers on a grave a dump truck dropped a pebble that hit my windshiedl.. so small, barely seen...but with my honesty and integrity I told them about it when I returned the car after dark at RDU airport.. Gave them all info, filled out reports.. Lady said they would shoot it with expoxy and it would never be seen... price around $50 and insurance would take care of it.. Two months later I get bill for $240... good price since comprehensive deductible is $250... I called some company called Viking that handles these scams for Thrifty, Hertz, and Dollar rental.. They told me that they had to replace the entire windshield.. Headquarters in Minn.. well we know what strange people live there... Congress proves it... They are all in the same ownership group... Do not rent from any of them...They manufacture lies to screw you.. I would bet that they did not replace the windshield... I had to send a check to the lying ***holes...
In the future I will only rent from Alamo...Should have this time...

I don't know who's more at fault here, Dollar Car Rental or CarTrawler. However, if I do not receive a full refund, I'm contacting every government agency, every local new station and any attorney that may be able to assist me! To say that I'm furious is an understatement! Here's my story:
On December 15th 2018 I place a reservation for rent a car with Dollar Rental located at 1 Terminal Lane Nashville International Airport. Before I finalize my reservations I paid close attention to the terms and conditions because I know some car rental places require a credit card and some can take debit cards in lieu of a credit card. After carefully reading through there requirements and at no point did I read that they did not or would not take a debit card when finalizing a rental reservation, I booked the reservation. On their website it stated that they would only be taking $246 at that time a booking and I was to pay $92 Once I arrived to pick up car. Soon after I finish booking my reservation online I checked my statement and they had taking out $283 and then my account stated that there was "NO" balance due on this account. The car was reserved from December 22nd 2018 through December 27th 2018 I was supposed to pick up at 12 noon and drop off Thursday the 27th at 2 p.m. On December 22nd, I took an Uber from my house to the airport and was dropped off at 10:53 a.m. Once I arrived I went downstairs to the main service desk with all the information did I read that I was required to have. The front desk agent informed me that I could not finalize my reservations because I had to have a major credit card to which I tried to show him what was stated on their terms and conditions and he quickly dismissed that and instead of offering to cancel my reservations he proceeded to give me the number to Hertz Rent-a-Car so that I could call them in order to cancel my reservation by this time it was about 11:30. So I did what I was instructed and called Hertz which took me about 25 minutes being on hold before I was able to get a representative. Once I did she was confused as to why I was calling Hertz when I had reserved the car with Dollar rental. She then proceeded to transfer me 2 a dollar rental representative which took another 20 minutes if not longer to get someone by this time it was after noon and I'm trying to not only think of some way of how we can resolve this but also trying to understand what this representative was even saying because I could not understand her. Not only was The representative was extremely rude insisting that I was a female she at no point offer to cancel this reservation so that I could get a refund and get alternative mode of transportation. At the end of the conversation she gives me the number to their main office in New York in order to get a refund. By this time I'm thinking that this reservation is already been canceled that someone has taken the initiative to cancel it since I have now spoken with 2 Service agents on the phone and two more while I was there at the airport. Okay, so by this time I'm on hold once again for an agent or representative from the New York office while I'm also trying to call my mother to let her know what's going on never did get anyone from New York at that moment so trying to call my uncle in order to make other arrangements I'm still on hold with the New York office this is now turning to almost an hour ordeal over my reservation time trying to get someone with this company to talk to me about getting my money back could not get anything resolved with anyone at the airport and by this time my phone had completely died I had just enough battery life left to call another Uber in order to pick me up to take me back to my apartment so that I can get phone charged & hopefully get someone on the phone and see about refunding my money. By the time I got back to my apartment, it's well after 1:30 roughly. I tried to call the New York office yet again and now I'm on hold for another 25 minutes and when I finally am able to get someone on the phone you representing this tells me that since it was past my reservation time that they could not offer me a refund it was passed my pick up time however I was on hold with them trying to get my reservation cancelled. So, let's see if I have this correct. You deny me service because none of your representatives or for that matter, your entire company won't stand behind their terms and conditions. Not one of your representatives offer to cancel my reservation so that this sort of thing doesn't happen. However, they did shuffle me around just long enough for the "refund window" to slam shut in my face. I spent a total of about 4hrs ON HOLD(didn't get a representative)trying to get this resolved and when I was finally able to get someone on the line, Marie, from whatever call center was so rude, so unprofessional you would have thought I would have beaten up one of her kids. Every time I ask to speak with the supervisor I was told that they were on another call and they were too busy to take my my call. The last correspondence I had with these people was online once again and they said that they did or was aware of the issue and to give them 24 hours and someone would get back with me. $246 it's not a lot to most people, but to me it was worth more than gold. It was one of the only chances I had to visit family who I haven't seen in months. The worst thing about this whole ordeal was that none, not one Dollar Car Rental representative, from the call center, front desk, online booking agent or curb side check-in was remotely Pleasant, nice, kind, sympathetic or helpful. I'm the kind of person who if I make a mistake I own up to it this was not my fault and it needs to be corrected ASAP! I want a full refund no exception

On July 19 through July 23 2018 I rented a car from the rental car company " dollar rent a car" located in the Toronto airport.
After I picked up the car, I realized it doesn't have a GPS. Once I realized it doesn't have a GPS, I wanted to return it, but I didn't know how to get back to the airport. I got lost and finally made it to my hotel .
On July 22nd 2018, I called the 800 customer service number and spoke with a representative at " dollar rent a car" and asked them if I can return the car a day earlier. The representative said I could. I told them I'm not familiar with the area and got lost many times and asked if they can have someone pick up the car. The representative said they can have someone pick up the car. The man asked for my hotel name and address, which I gave him and said they will send someone. ( the call was on a recorded line, please check the recording)
I went back to my room to wait. Around 3pm on July 22 2018, the hotel front desk clerk notified me that the tow truck driver was here. I met with the tow truck driver and he hooked up the car and I gave him the keys. I asked him if there is anything I need to sign or if I can get a receipt for returning the car.
He told me I didn't need to do anything.
I assumed everything was ok and that I would be credited for returning the car one day early .
On July 23rd 2018, I returned to the United States. On July 30, 2018 I received an email from
LEILA.[protected]@DTAG.COM, a representative with "dollar rent a car ", reminding me that the car was due back on July 23rd 2018 and asked if I wanted to return the vehicle or keep it longer. I was confused as to why they were asking me if I wanted to return the vehicle since I already returned it to them on July 22nd 2018.
I responded to Leila email, the representative on July 30 2018 and explained to her that i had called "dollar rent a car" on July 22nd to return the vehicle and had them pick up the vehicle.
The representative Leila, responded to my email on July 31 and said she would follow up with her supervisor and would close out my rental. At this point I thought everything is ok. A few days later I saw my credit card statement and noticed that "dollar rent a car" over charged me about $1300 U.S. dollars
I should have only been charged for three days.

Since August, I have been calling "dollar rent a car " trying to get this resolved, but have been unsuccessful.
I am dissatisfied with the service of this company . If I do not get this resolved, I will have my lawyer get involved.

Dollar does not tell you they charge 10 bucks per gallon to fill up tank upon pickup.
Whoever includes such an obscene profit margin (400%) should be obliged and brave enough to announce this upon pickup. Otherwise it becomes a nasty trap for well meaning clients. Who reads a rental car contract anyway? We kind of trusted Dollar not to use such devious tactics to turn a profit...
Misled by rental agent about fuel purchase option. When I picked up a rental in Denver in 5/2019, agent asked if I wanted the fuel purchase option at $2.79/gallon. That sounded pretty good at the time as I have always filled up before returning a car in the past bc of the excessive cost. What they didn't bother to explain, and I didn't know enough to ask was what happens if I return the tank at 3/4 instead of empty. I wrongly assumed they should refund at least 1/2 the charge since I used just over a 1/4 tank. There customer service is not buying that. Watch your 6 with Dollar, Hertz, Thrifty or you could be screwed also.
