Everything in this house is poorly done
We bought a home september 23 2018 moved in on the 28th and there are so many problems with this home! My one year old slit her toe an a nail sticking out on a nail strip! My wife and son have also stabbed their foot but not as bad as my one year old who has been crying in pain. There is cracking in more than 3 corners of the home, all of the windows have cracking and it looks like a badly repaired used home! My father is a home renovation specialist and my cousin a builder and they say how [censored]ty of a job my house is and advised me to contact an attorney about my daughters injury for deficient work causing bodily harm. All of the door jams are cracked... There are sooooo many things to list. My wife has to clean nasty dark urine from around the toilet if our kids bathroom on the first day of moving in on top of nasty cigarette butts! Our sod has not been laid to meet the property line and is unfinished. There is paint all of all the door jams and tiles throughout the house. Just too much to go on worst first time homebuyers experience!
New construction lakeland
I came back to model homes to meet Nick today. I had a prior engagement that I needed to attend. I asked a blonde haired female employee it wasn't Camille I didn't see her name tag if she could make copies of my paperwork and Ernest money deposit. I was told no that Nick needed to be the one to do his own paperwork. She also said it's his business and commission is his . I was shocked by her unprofessional attitude. Nick always spoke highly of his colleges how they are a family and help each other . I was disappointed in how this young lady conducted herself . I was able to meet Nick in Mulberry. I explained to him that I would never want to do business with his establishment if I ever needed to work with that young lady.
The wall by the stair
I am writing here to let you know how unhappy I am to buy the house at Bailes Cove.
When I went to DR Horton the sale agent Patricia Carbajal showed me the model house and the layal out on the flyer of how my house was going to be. And when she showed me the GALEN model house she clearly stated it will be same structure of the house that I am going to buy.
When I went to my initial walk thru with Jose Capote your company customer service coordinator at BAILES Road, I was surprised that there is just this huge wall by the stair that is unfinished. I questioned of why the wall is not the same as the lay out plan and the model house. He did agreed that contractor might have forgotten that wall and I asked him if they can repair it. He brought me back to the model houses by Bay Garden location and we waited for the contractor name Daniel Rodriguez which he did confirmed in front of my realtor, Jose, and myself that it is indeed was on the plan and he will take care of it before my final walk thru which is today September 26, 2018.
Yesterday, Sept. 25, 2018 Daniel called me at told me that he will not be able to do it! For the reason of "load bearing". He said I can look at all the houses if I want and they were all the same. He even stated that I can call his boss but it will not do much, like I will just waste my voice. He recommended to call Patricia Carbajal to state my disappointment. I called Patricia, and when she answered that I am calling her on her day off, she stated that why change now when I went to see the house for numerous times but I explained to her when the house was shown to me it was still under construction, I would have not know.I feel that she was unprofessional and trying to shut me off, I understand it was her day off but she made it feel like I was bothering her and this is all my fault. Off course passing me back to Jose Capote whom I texted and did not response.
This is not FAIR, my closing day is on Friday but I am not happy because of the work was unsatisfactory. The house was not match the model I was shown and promised that it was going to be. It is not fair that your trusted employee has no answer for me, no compassion, nor how I will get compensated. I was deceived by them and your company.
This is my second time buying house to your company, I was fully confident to buy for the second time but I was disappointed. I would like them to fix the wall and give me the safe house for my children that I was promise that I will have. I will attached here the photo of the wall I would to have in the house that I will buy.
You can contact me on [protected] during working hours or after hours to discuss this matter further.
Sincerely yours,
Lilet Duarte-Adrao
Bad information causing money loss
I was given incorrect information about window sizes when I emailed sales about my windows. I stated I needed customs blinds and since we hadn't moved into the new house and lived a few hours away I asked for the window dimensions. I received the dimensions and order over $2000 worth of custom blinds. When we went to install ALL the sizes were wrong. The blinds did not fit! I spent 2 months trying to get someone to help correct this. I asked that they pay for the exchange in blinds. After constantly calling and emailing, I received a call from the sales person saying because they felt they went "above and beyond" they weren't going to do anything about it! How is it above and beyond when I'm given wrong information and it cost me money?! Nothing in the email states the dimensions could be off or could vary. I'm asking that new blinds and installation be paid for by DR Horton for this mistake they made.

The house still remains UNACCEPTABLE. Please see the attached photos I have taken.
The entrance door paint is chipped, the master bathroom bath feeder is missing the caulking and the walls are dirty and needs to be painted, on bedroom 1 and 2 the walls needs to be painted where the pencil marks are. There is a hole next to the electrical socket on room 2. The pipe pluck inside the closet on room 1 is missing the cover and is not finish. The bottom of the vanity on the bathroom upstairs needs to be painted. And most importantly the A/C is not cooling properly. Thermostat is set at 72 and it feels like 76.
Please contact the buyer Ms. Christina Mucuuthi NG'Ethe via email at:
[protected]@yahoo.com to make an appointment to fix all the issues outlined above. The house has been rekeyed.
Thank you.
Plumbing, island meter box are overly charging and our bills have been crazy high
We have been here since march and we still have air in our lines, someone came out about a month ago and said that they are having issues in our area, however how is that our problem. We purchased a new home for a reason so we would not have such big issues to deal with. There is a chip in the bar!
Aps has recalled smart meters due to overly charg.
Destruction of st. Augustine wildlife habitats
DR Horton has been clearcutting wildlife habitats all over St. Johns county for years. Its killing off the wildlife. And the ones that survive are homeless. They come in and fill in Marshland & those habitats. They are overdeveloping this city & essentially ruining it. The overdevelopment is causing traffic issues as well as environmental issues all over the county.
The blame for over development of the area lies with city, county and state government agencies that allow this to happen.
I might add that consideration by each or all of these agencies might be better serve the community prior to releasing land to be developed.
The situation here in Florida could easily rival that of California where every acreage of land seems to be gobbled up by developers and rarely is turned into park land for the residents of the state.
Attic ventilation
We have been having some major issues with our master bedroom being hotter than the rest of the house, and hot air coming from the attic, through the vents and into our house. It feels like the heater is on. We were wanting to get more off ridge vents. I am almost at my breaking point. I am losing sleep due to my room being so hot. We had another vent added to our master bedroom, but it seems like it made it worse, because so much hot air is being pushed out from the attic. When the AC company came out to inspect everything, they said out attic was 130 degrees Fahrenheit. They also said there wasn't enough ventilation in the attic and that's why our house feels like the heater is on. Please help us out.
Paint and plaster blistering in master bathroom 3rd time
3rd time since we first had Horton did this issue, days without master bathroom. Horton is not holding up to the standards I had hoped for. This was documented by Horton now told they wont fix. Request someone come out and look at the ongoing issue before it has to escalate farther. Several other issues that aren't resolved still also. Please have corporate come out to see the job that isn't getting followed up on.
Thank you,
Robert Preble
I am complaining about my new house
At the time of closing I was given of things to be completed in a week and it's 2 months and no one showed up. Door spacing issues, whole breakfast area and kitchen counter top shaking while walking and also Sent pictures about water leaking, broken cabinets, and mold in basement to the person who assisted in closing but no response. I wish someone can address my concerns.
Hating to be lied to
I work from home. I teach graduate school online. I asked specifically who the internet service was from and was told Mediacom. It was listed on the "numbers to call" list as well. After closing, I call to set up my services to find out this house is NOT serviced by any internet provider. The guy at the sales office said he wasn't aware there was any problem with the service when he told me that. Once I meet neighbors they all say that is a lie because they have all lived here longer than me and were told that also after they moved in some as long as 8 months ago.
I have Alexa's I can't use. I have a Simplesafe security system I can't use. I can't teach my class as they should be because I am working through my phone service provider.
I just wish I hadn't been lied to just to sell me a house. They suck!
That appears to be the usual route - based on incompetent sale reps and site supervisors. Please ensure that you continue to communicate via email, no phone calls. You have to have everything documented should you decide to enter arbitration. I have my own story since purchasing a home April 23 in Hampton GA.
Entire customer service experience/ submitting warranty issues
I have too many dates and complaint issues to type. My husband and I moved into our DR Horton home in April 2017 (Arbormere, Huntersville, NC) and we are still waiting on our one-month warranty repairs to be addressed. We have called and spoke with a Melissa, Melanie Holbrook and I have called and left message P. (Pam?) Williamson more than one week ago. We are aware of one lawsuit from neighbors in our development and we are wondering if we need to join in as well.
-leak in the dining room- ruined paint and drywall (still do not know if the window area was caulked as promised)
-condensation coming from the microwave every time it is use - the maintenance guy, Darren, just told me that we needed to run the fan every time I use the microwave- Really? When AirTron came to fix it, the guy told me about and showed me the shotty work that was done... no insulation - he even took a picture. Their work still did not fix the problem.
-the staircase separated from the walls. Flooring on the top floor had to be repaired along with the staircase----- it was moving! and creaking within the first 4 months of occupancy.
-The office/study doors were warped. They were replaced after months of submitting a warranty. Once they were replaced and the painters came to paint it, the paint warped the door. Darren tried to say it was just a "paint bubble" until he came to see it. Still haven't heard about when they are coming to fix it.
-During our first month walkthrough, we showed Ryan the scratches in the glass on the windows over the front door, in the front door, beside the front door and above the office/ study doors. Someone came June 29th to "fix" but said his equipment is not small enough to get between the window frames. What? Still haven't heard anything about this.
- We still have areas in the ceiling that need to be addressed that the painters left incomplete.
-There is a leak stain or spot above the smoke detector. I told Darren about it and nothing has been done.
Once I hear from somone in your office who handles complaints, I will have not problem sending emails, text messages and pictures to accompany my complaint.

Incomplete warranty issues
We moved into our home 11/2017. We have submitted various warranty items from day 1. Some of them have finally been addressed months later. However, my squeaking floor boards are still not addressed, just a lot of excuses from warranty dept, and now 2 different onsite builder supervisors. Last thing that is still unfinished is my master bath has had a leak from the shower. It was supposedly repaired once but the wall were the leak was, was never cut out to ensure that it was fixed properly. About a month later the wall started get wet again. Finally after a few weeks of complaining they finally sent another plumber out who cut out 3 sections of wall. I would have thought that the plumber would have told them that they needed to send someone out to repair the walls. Well another 2 weeks passed by, I finally tracked down the onsite supervisor who came over and repairrepaired the wall, but told me he would come back with 48 hrs to paint. That never occurred, I finally called the local office and they sent out painters to finish the wall. There were parts of the baseboards that were removed as well and the painters would not fix them but said they would come back as soon as they were fixed to paint them. Well it's about another week has passed, I called the local warranty office last week and was promised that it would be repaired by now. So frustrated, we shouldn't have to waste our time and energy on what was supposedly new construction following up on this. I will never buy from DR Horton and will tell everyone I know how poor the quality of construction is, how inconsiderate corporate warranty dept have been on making sure that what was missed during construction would be taken care in a speedient manner. Very poor customer service and extremely cheap quality of work and follow-up. And this community is Panhandle Valley, Hampton GA
Warranty repair
Hello, we have requested shower repair, master bedroom for this, the second time, persistent leak from unknown location. At this time, over the past going four months minimal repairs have been accomplished, with numerous disagreements between DR Horton repair parties As to the exact cause of the leak. Currently the issue still persist, we had ongoing fungus and pest issue in the area. There has been no abatement for possible mold damage, the leak continues, . I do not feel the repair is being handled correctly, or will solve the issue and cause more financial burden to your company and time without our bathroom and possible exposure to fungus.
At this time I'm seeking legal counsel, I have requested supervisors to the contact person whom have visited or worked on my home, they have not Produced the contact information.
Please understand I do not feel this repair is being addressed properly, Multiple contractors have agreed and stated the repair process thus far will not solve the issue. At this point I'm concerned for my family's well-being, and the assurance that this issue will be resolved.
Please contact me immediately for further explanation
Complete disregard for deadlines (delivery timeline) - whispering lake, cumming, ga
It has been a challenging experience with the D R Horton (Cumming GA) team to say the least.
I had signed a contract (for a single home) at Whispering Lake (Cumming, GA) back in January earlier this year (2018) and I have been following up with multiple builder's agents throughout. I was informed that the proper construction was on-schedule and the worst thing could happen - the closing date would push out by 7-10 days. Then, I show up at the site on May 15th with an expectation that the home is about 70% - 80% complete (in alignment with May 28th closing date).
What I found out was surprising & shocking - the only thing there was the concrete slab - that's it. I reached out to D R Horton Corporate customer service and thy in turn reached out to Area Sales manager (Atlanta -West Division) - I was informed by the sales manager that it would take another 2 months (the end of July) to complete the construction - the customer experience in terms of real-time construction update would be improved. Since the corporate escalation back on 5/15, the ball started rolling - framing, window installation, wiring was done - good progress was made until 6/5.Then once again, comes the stagnation period, and the lack of transparency around drywall & cabinet install date. After repeated inquiries, I was finally provided a date of 7/11 as the cabinet install date - with the 45-day rule, it would put the construction closing date to the end of August. Given the above account, it does not say much about a builder that takes 7-8 months to build a single home of 2800 sqft with the missing deadlines along the way and forces the buyer to constantly change his/her personal planning.
It has been a frustrating experience for me throughout the process. As an outside observant, to me, some actionable steps need to be adapted at the corporate and at the local level (both Corporate CS (via phone conversation) and local management team (via email communication) had been made aware of the above account) in order to address complete disregard for deadlines and thus creating a sense of false perception, hope and overall poor customer experience for the buyer.
Home construction
My husband and I are having our home constructed in Independence located in Loganville, Ga. Where I can I start! From the very beginning this construction process is a mess! We were given false and incorrect information throughout the whole process from our sales person. Then we had one request to changed the brick choice on the exterior of our. We were told that this change would cost $500. After all we've encountered with this company they wouldn't allow a complimentary change. Not to mention that their sales person have made numerous changes or corrections after we were done with our final selections. I have to say this is the worst home buying experience we've had. We have spoken with the sales manager for Independence and she's no help! Spoke to her today explaining our request about wanting a brick change which she offered her assistance. Never heard from her again with no follow ups as to say how she will assist us. Only response came from our horrible sales rep with change fee of $500 to accommodate a brick change. Unbelievable, are you kidding me! Very unacceptable business practices and customer service here. We are very unhappy. Please provide us with someone professional to help us.
Thanks for your help.

The dr hortons customer service, real estate agent and companies prejudiced attitudes towards minorities
DR Horton needs to replace and change this attitude reflected by their management towards minorities looking to purchase homes.
She was not able to address the constructions questions, which she further turned over to a different topic, she was also very rude, snippy and condescending to me throughout the process.
I reached out but My Debbie Young would not give us her supervisors phone number. She was very condescending and prejudiced in her approach and attitude, needless to say we did not buy there.
Express homes division - our home
In late August we had a leak in our wall come down behind the paint and bubble at the bottom. It tore up the drywall, window sill, paint, and I am sure caused drywall damage in terms of mildew. No one could come before Irma hit which just caused more issues and an additional leak. As we were putting up shutters, they were ripping out of the concrete as we put them up due to poor anchoring. When we came back after evacuation, we had lost all but one shutter off the front and one off the back. All of this happened in September. We still have no resolve a couple months shy of a year. They have been "working on it", yet I hear from no one. They make appts and no call, no show. Nothing gets done. We are going into rainy and hurricane season and yet my house has leak issues.
Additionally, I have a crack in my shower bottom causing a leak and drywall damage, but they argued with me. They sent someone to refinish it instead of replace it, and here I am with the crack and issiea resurfacing again.
Customer service
Lender, brokers and sales persons were amazing, closing process was great, but customer service is terrible, workers never answered their phones, voicemails are full.
I brought on 4/30 and my home wasn't prepared to moved; no power at the house, we wait almost all day for the power company and electric workers, moving process was a nightmare for me and my family, painting issues and broken garage door weren't fixed yet.
Wood floor installation
I purchased my home from Dr Horton in September, 2016. I have been having problems with their customer service department ever since. The major issue is with my wood floors. Ever since installation, I have noticed hollow spots when walking on the floor. I tried to get DR Horton to explain why. They said it was normal to have some spots. I have now found out that they did not install the floor correctly. The manufacture has even voided their warranty due to improper install. I am now stuck with a floor that has numerous planks moving and coming up from the sub floor. Dr Horton is refusing to return phone calls or emails.Their sub contractor is also not returning calls. Do not ever buy a house from DR Horton...
