This morning, my car won't start right after I filled up the gas at the pump on 14th Ave & Kennedy in Markham. I tried to jump start my car with a portable jump starter device for 10 - 15 min without success. All of a sudden, an Esso station staff came out an told me to move my car immediately or he will call the police on me. I explained to him that I would like to move my car, but it won't start. He says, "you have 5 min to move your car or I will call the police." The staff is very rude and not very helpful. Perhaps he could have offer to help me to push my car off the gas pump, so the pump can be use and then I can call the CAA for assistance. Well, sadly that didn't happen.
I saw a fellow taxi driver who was just in the gas station and I asked him to help me to push my car away from the gas pump.
I was surprised that a police car actually shows up after 20-30 min at the gas station and talk to the staff, but he did not come to me to ask questions. The police stayed at the gas station for about 45 - 60 min then left. I don't understand how my car breaking down legitimately suddenly becomes a security threat to anyone.
What kind of people does this company hire and how do they train the staff to provide customer service? I am very surprised and disappointed by the treatment I received as a paying Esso customer. Even a taxi driver will help a stranger but the staff at the gas station was rude, threatening and failed to understand reason and did not offer any semblance of assistance to someone who truly needed one.
I truly believe that someone should investigate the staff in this gas station and perhaps provide some training to the staff there on proper customer service.

Hands down, the absolute WORST experience I have ever had dealing with staff anywhere in my life!
I just went to the car wash at Mountainash/Bovaird in Brampton on Feb.3, 2018 at 3:55pm. I went into the wash and it did not dispense any soap. Only water came out. I told the man behind the counter and he said I had to fill out a form and they would send it in and I would get a "free wash ticket in the mail." I said that was not acceptable because I needed the wash right away and could not wait (it's Winter and I needed to remove the build-up salt). He then said I had to speak to his supervisor, so I told him what happened and he repeated the exact same thing. I persisted and he said over and over there was nothing they could do. They then both looked over at the wash from their window and said it looked fine, and that "no one else was complaining." The impression I got was that they thought I was lying and trying to get a free wash from them! I felt degraded. I insisted that it was not working and that the no-soap was the problem not the water, but they would not budge and said the wash looked fine, and the only way was to wait for a ticket in the mail. I was getting very agitated at this point and the supervisor actually became belligerent! I demanded their manager's phone number, and when I called the manager "Paul" it went straight to an unregistered voicemail! 10 minutes had now passed and still no action on their part, all the while people were coming in and out and waiting in line, but they clearly could not clear less about the very bad impression that was being left on everyone, including myself. After continuing to complain about their horrible service they then - to my shock - told me to go back to the wash and they would enter a code for me to go through again. Why did I have to fight with them for 15 minutes and then have them deny anything was wrong and then be told I would have to wait for a ticket in the mail when all they had to do was enter a number manually? I DID NOT NEED THIS STRESS!
On my was out, a lady approached me and said that she had a similar problem with the wash last week and they were also very rude to her and did nothing to help! What are the chances of that happening if there is not a regular problem here?
So I went through the wash again and guess what? NO SOAP! If fact, no car that went through that afternoon got their car washed properly.
[As an aside, they now have the wash programmed to shut off the undercar water blast prematurely because every single time I bring any of my cars through the undercar blast always stops two thirds of the way though, so the back part of the car underbody never gets washed free of salt. It was fine a year ago, so this owner is deliberately stealing from his customers!]
I have had similar customer relations problems with this same gas station in the past, twice before in the last 4 years with different staff, and I always dread walking in there so I hardly ever go. They all behaved in the same horrible way. I would not be surprised if this ESSO has remained under the same ownership during the last 4 years because it would seem that all staff have been specifically trained to demean customers.
Clearly I cannot be the only one ever to complain about this gas station because there is a long-standing customer service problem here. ESSO should be horrified of the way customers are being regularly treated here. After all of my experiences here I can, without any doubt, say that I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FUEL OR ANYTHING FROM THIS STATION EVER AGAIN, unless ESSO replaces the franchisee.

My wife and I both use Esso exclusively primarily for the points. I infrequently find myself at the above store for rewards points car washes and keep asking myself why I return.
I always get a luxury wash and every time I get a car wash there, and I mean every time over the past 5 or more years, they are taking shortcuts with the car wash. Usually it is the last rinse that applies the clear cote and it is really obvious because of the way the windows clear of water residue. Today it was the multi-colour wash and wax material that was not included AND the clear coat. I expect to get rewarded properly by Esso and independent or not they are the face of your company.
They are very dishonest and when I have complained to the station and demanded a second wash including the missing component the staff, some of who barely speak English, are rude and unresponsive. In fact I have occasionally felt a little threatened by their confrontational attitude, which worked because I stopped complaining.
You need to get these people under control and pull their franchise. Unacceptable.
bad gas in springford ontario
Filled up with $129 of gas, (if you like to call it that) at esso station in Springford Ontario. Started truck and drove 1km out of town towards Woodstock, check engine light comes on and I lose all power and pull to the side of the road. Truck would not start and had to be towed to Woodstock. Mechanic pulls fuel line and discovers fuel looks like fryer oil mixed with leaves and debris. Had to empty entire contents of tank, clean injectors and entire fuel system...! Contacted store manager, was given name and number of owner. No calls ever returned from a Larry Stewart...! Get a young service rep for area named Tyler, gives me attitude and excuses. Refuses to come look at my fuel sample, look at pictures or even contact garage and mechanic. NOTHING...! I have now learned that a local internet company had a service vehicle engine destroyed less than a km from the station...BAD GAS...! Service rep refuses to help and owner refuses to return calls Have no choice but to file in small claims apparently... LOYAL CUSTOMER FOREVER... BUT WILL NEVER GET GAS AGAIN AT AN ESSO STATION...! I am just writing to report my experience at this 8 Kingston Rd E, Ajax, ON L1T 4W4 ESSO location. This by far is one of the worst customer service experiences I've had and it is quite ridiculous that employees and employers believe that this type of service is allowable towards customers. Sunday January 28th, 4:15-4:23 pm. (specifying the time because the employee didn't share his name and name tag was unclear). My boyfriend had just put gas and bought a car wash ticket. Once we got to the car wash, the door would not open for us so I decided to go back inside and tell the cashier that the door will not open. When I told him, he asked for the ticket and I told him that it was in the car and if he would like me to go get it. He then asked if we bought it there and I said yes I believe so because my boyfriend just put gas. That is when he kept repeating "well if you didn't buy it here then I can't do anything, just go forget it." I told him TWICE after that I believe he bought it there since he just put gas and if he just needs me to get the ticket and he raised his voice and gave me attitude as if he was fed up and telling me to forget it. I am a very level headed person, who has worked in customer service since I was 16, and this is NOT anyway to speak to a customer which is why I snapped. He could have politely delivered the same message in a much more respectful manner. Since he didn't even address the manner or try to see that there was already a line at the car wash station, I went back to the car and told my boyfriend to just go inside and get a refund because the attendant was extremely rude and I did not want to give any business to this location. Obviously seeing that I was upset when I usually don't get upset, my boyfriend raised his voice at the attendant and told him that he was rude, that there is a line at the carwash so CLEARLY it wasn't working so this was a waste of time with [censor] service and that he just "[censor] wants a refund." The attendant didn't say anything and instead called who would I assume is the owner of that gas station and said he was getting verbally abused and that it was "just because we don't know how to operate the car wash" knowing damn right that we can hear him. While on the phone he was still arguing saying that he was explaining himself and that he was busy with customers, which is when I argued that he was still very rude - and there was only ONE other customer behind me ready to buy a bag of chips. He then handed the phone off to my boyfriend where the person on the phone asked "why are you verbally abusing my employee?" - no apologies or questions for more understanding on our experience. This is why I assume it is just the owner of this hopefully JUST franchised Esso because anyone in corporate customer service would not go on to resolve the situation this way. We aren't the first people who's had a bad experience here as I have looked through the reviews for this station and there are many of the same types of complaints and bad reviews with what looks like the same employee as there are also photos of him online.in the end we just got our money back with no apologies no nothing. The car wash never even got fixed and the cars in line ended up also leaving and probably tried to get their money back. All of this unecessary hassle and waste of time could have been avoided if one - he was nice and respectful and listened like a proper customer service employee should and two - if he just said sorry and gave us our refund.
20 dollar gift card
It is a credit card that indicates it is $25.00 value for $20.00 purchase. However you are only saving 5cents a litre every time you gas up. I assumed it was a gas card saving you money. It is very unclear how it works. Also when I went to use it at the Kenaston location I was short changed on the savings and cashier did not explain details. Very poor service. Will not be going back to Esso.

Today 23 December at 12:15 I went to Esso gas station at Mavis and steels. As usual I pre paid outside and the machine gave me a message that u r transation is complete and it show me a message for receipt but I could'nt get any receipt and when I try to fill the fuel it wasn't working after that I went inside and so many people were complaining that their is no fuel.i was in the line than when old Indian customer guy call me I tell him that I paid I didn't get any fuel but the transaction approved message came and after that he was checking a lot in the system and he said I don't have any receipt for u then he ask me where did u pay and I said outside and he got mad on me he said why are u tracing me he is not responsible for that go away and he used too much bad language with me I asked him if u will not resolve the issue who is gonna resolve it he said he is not responsible for that. Then I asked his manager no and he did not gave me the manager no and I am so much disappointed regarding this and 40 dollars transaction is approved by my card and that's very bad experience today that I faced in Canada very first time then I call the police to resolve the issue and they suggested me to complaint head office.please resolve the issue so that I can get my money back that I pay for nothing. On Saturday December 9th at approximately almost 7 o'clock at the gas station in Fairview Nova Scotia, esso, myself and my boyfriend where getting gas . Now normally we go in a pay but there is a lady there that is bigger set with blonde hair I don't have a name . But she has been really friendly with my boyfriend he's had to tell her he's not interested and he has a girlfriend but she doesn't seem to stop, he find it very ackward and annoying. So we needed gas on Saturday night and he was just going to pay at the pump that way he wouldn't have to hear her or talk to her etc, but she started to talk to him over the speaker at the pump saying your not coming in etc and he's finding this to be too much and it's harassment now it's getting to the point he can't even et gas at the pump and pay outside she's all over him ! Something needs to be done ! It's getting to crazy ! Every time we call and ask for the manager she's not in and I'm told she will be here that day ! This is getting out f hand something needs to be said to her and something needs to be done she can't harass people !

On December 10th at approx. 955 pm I purchased gas and windshield washer fluid at the Esso station on Dorval Drive in Oakville Ontario. As i left i forgot to take the washer fluid. I returned to the station at approx. 1240am and explained the situation to the attendant as it was not the same person who was on earlier. I was told id have to come back when the other person was working. I informed the attendant i was not from the area and would not be back for some time. He told me that was too bad but it was my fault not his. He also said i was the third person that night to say the same thing which i find very hard to believe. I found the attendant very rude. I would also appreciate getting the washer fluid i paid for but did not receive .

we stopped to get drinks, my wife went in with $10.00 bill as most stores $5.00 bill is not enough. She gave the young blonde girl at cash the money and she gave my wife back.50 cents. my wife informed her she gave her $10.00, the rude girl said no you gave me $5.00 and then ignored her. when my wife came and told me what happened we both went in to talk to her, she said it was not true that we gave 10 that we gave 5, we told no, asked for a manager and was told nobody was their. We then said to look at the tape on surveillance camera, her response was, that thing, then opened cash drawer threw $5.00 bill across counter and said something like her cash will be short. VERY RUDE little girl. Please look at tape it will show we gave $10.00 we bought small bottle diet pepsi and iced tea. On our very long trip to Montreal we stoped at one of your On The Run stations for a gas up, bathroom break and car wash. After paying we went to wash the car, we watched 2 people ahead pull out and tell us it wasn't working. As we are not from the area I asked the cashier to give me a refund and she refused, only provided a re-wash and proceeded to sell MORE car wash tickets after being told 3 times now that it wasn't working. VERY discouraged and unimpressed with this young ladies actions, and lack of courtesy.

I purchased gas and a couple in store items totaling $42 and change from your 9375 215st station on December 4th 2017 at approximately 4:30pm. I had realized that 2 charges came out of my account for the same total at the same time. I brought the store manager a copy on December 5th showing the transactions. It is now December 7th and I've been told their looking into it. The problem is, I live pay check to pay check and feel this situation is not being dealt with in a caring manner. If we can get this issue dealt with much quicker, I would be very pleased. Thank you for your time and sorry for any inconveniences.

On sunday the 26 of I went in the gas station to get a car wash. The machine became malfunction stuck on the leftside near my gas opening of my 2017 highlander, then move again forward giving my suv a long scratch. From the tank opening to the mirror near the drivers window. I could not get out. I then got out my car knock on the glass waving to people out sid. So a man run in to the casher. He told the man he is busy. I keep knocking on the glass another man ran inside again to the casher. He came this time and open the emergency door. He call his boss, he came he saw my car told me not to worry. Just get an estimate. L got one and bring to him and that was it. No response. He never call back. I call him he said he would check his body shop for an estimate. There he ends everything. I ask him for his insurance info. He did not respond. He will not answer his phone even to the insurance. I will get professional advice next. This esso manager is a liere. This is not the way to treat customers.

On Sunday nov. 26th around 1 pm I went to 1361 rue Charlevoix in Montreal to pump gas.
I was with my 6 year old trying to pump and pay at the pump however it was unsuccessful. I went inside to the cashier and tried to explain that I wanted to do a full but the pump wouldn't let me wait pay and that it doesn't work. The employee gave this attitude and told me to go pump and come back and pay. I told him it doesn't work and he has no right to speak to me this way. He then mentioned that customers like me ...(didn't hear the rest). I turned around and told him that employees like him will make the lost in business. Me and my son got outside and I went to pump at a different gas station.
Prior to taking me in line he also had a customer that he gave a hard time too.
It is an unacceptable experience and I will never go back to this gas station!

One more thing he made me so angry that when my son asked to use the washroom on the way home I stopped by a near Mcdonalds. I was so angry at him that I took it out on my son for not telling me before hand. As soon as he got out of his car seat I started hitting him. The manager of the Mcdonalds said that he saw what happened and had several witnesses and reported me to CPS with my license plate number.

On Nov 11 I inserted my debit card in the machine to pump my gas. I hit the $100.00 amount as I was not sure how much I would pump plus I asked for a car wash as well. I put $25.03 gas in and with the car wash it came to $41.97. When I was finished I did not get my voucher for the car wash. I went inside and they gave me a duplicate receipt along with my car wash voucher. My bank has cleared the $100.00 but I have not had the $58.03 put back in my account. I have called my bank twice about this and they said it has nothing to do with them. I have called the eso store I was at and went in there today. They said they need a printed copy of my bank statement. I am sending you a picture of my bank transaction and a copy of my receipt from the esso store. I do not know what else to do. I cannot afford to lose this kind of money at this time of year. Please look into this matter and correct it as soon as possible. Thank you.

Today November 22 2017, I stopped at an esso in breton, ab there where no vehicles at the pump so I packed at the pump and left plent y of room behind me in case another vehicle came in. Once I went into the store the lady I believe she said her name is Tracy very aggressivlly told me that it was rude and I amnot allowed to park at the pump then refused me service and they are the only gas station in the area and I'm almost out of gas and called me an [censor] for parking at the pump even though there where no other vehicles. She was unbelievably unprofessional and I will NEVER use esso again until this is resolved

Please see attached photos in reference to the overcharge that was made to my husband's mastercard ending in 6288. Marivic (Esso employee) was the staff who witnessed that the pump was supposed to charge $29.01 but the receipt that came out stated it has charged us $74.07. But when Marivic printed another receipt from the counter, it charged us $45.06 and then she gave us $16.05 as change for the real amount that was pumped.
So upon checking our bank statement, the store overcharged us $29.01 more. We are residing in Calgary and are not able to come back to the store personally. If in case you need any additional info please call/message me at [protected] or at this email. It has been more than a month since the incident happened. I have been doing follow ups by calling the store and even talking to the supervisor Hashmeet and the store's leader Parveen but it seems that they're not doing anything about my case. I've sent my documents proving the store has indeed overcharged my card but still no refund was made. Parveen wanted me to call Walmart Mastercard about my refund but refused to give me evidence that their store issued a refund to my husband's account. This incident has brought a lot of inconvenience to me, having the need to call back lots of times and not once have these employees or this store even shown any effort to help us out or even apologize for what this caused us.
We are hoping that you will be dealing with this problem in the soonest possible time.

At 12:40, November 11, Satursday, I asked for 50$ for station 5, Supreme. It was a newly trained employee that asked if it was extra. I replied Supreme. However, the other employee, supposed to be a senior, plain rude and probably didn't hear me: "No, extra or Supreme."
Third time, I meant: yeah (for Supreme). Your senior employee: "Yeah what?!" in a really rude tone. I said: Supreme.
Anyway, the transaction was done and I was about to left. However, I stayed and waited for my "free car wash". Senior employee told me:" No, I asked you before you bought", in a smirk smile. This Esso, located at St-Charles, is the second time that I received, not only a really bad customer service, but also, insulted.
I definitely hope you guys take action as this was definitely not acceptable.

I recently went to purchase gas (7:40pm November 9 2017) only to find out that the attendant had not done their job and put signs up stating that there wasn't any gas at any of the pumps. He was quite rude and didn't want to do his job. When confronted he kicked me out of the store and said " get out, I'm trying to do my job" he was quite rude and needs to either be fired or get customer service training".

I recently gased up with fuel and decided to get a car wash i spent 70 on gas and plus wash. I was at Ajax Esso on Westney and baseline at approximately 12:30 I went to the wash and went in and parked I got a basic touch wash while it was washing I heard a big bang and then a piece of my vehicle flew to the front of the car on the ground. I continued to wait till the wash stopped while coming up the passenger side it bent my aerial. I waited for it to stop then backed the car up so I could see where the piece of my car was it was in front of the car once the blower started it blew to the side I proceeded out of the bay put my car in park and went back in and got the piece. I went in to the Esso store and told the lady she said that this could not be possible I told her it was I had the piece in my car she said she would have to check the video I said of course she reviewed it without me and then came out and said her manager was on the phone and told me that yes it came off but that this was not possible as well that bending the aerial basically was too bad. I told her that maybe they needed to adjust the machine she and her colleagues were rude I was not asking for them to pay for it I was suggesting they adjust the machine considering in one wash I had 2 problems I have a Esso card and I will be telling every one to use another company the employees of that store are absolutely not customer service friendly or telling someone that it is not possible and they have a video showing the piece coming off the car and the aerial was bent. And it didn't even clean my vehicle the wheels still had black all over the chrome.
