used game scam
To play online now you need codes so if you buy a used game at game stop they don't tell you you have to pay for the codes to play the game online..If you buy the game new the game comes with the code...But game stop does not tell you this when you buy a used game..Once the code is used you can't use it again so you have to pay 10 dollars online to get the code..And if you want to buy a game console don't get them from Game Stop...Real bad extended warranty...It's best to get them from Target or Wal-Mart or Best Buy...Game Stop is a ripoff...
lying and deceit
I work at the Gamestop in Aspen Hill/Silver Spring, on Connecticut Ave, and I am outraged. There are several problems plaguing the success of our store (low hours, lazy employees, lack of skilled management) however, those are problems for most businesses these days. What destroys my pride in my work and disgusts me, as both an employee and a consumer, is the blatant lying by employees (particularly management) to customers. From every angle the management tries to suck every cent they can from customers without regard for how we are seen by the public. Damaged games, systems and accessories are knowingly sold, warranties and offers are often not honored, preorders are literally begged for by employees and later refused to be cancelled on the notion that it will hurt the store numbers. YES YOU HEARD ME RIGHT! The store managers refuse to refund your money to you, and tell you that they are able but will not because they have not had enough preorders already that day. It happened to me, an employee, today! There are countless more examples of the same thing, and so, so many more problems, but Gamestop does not deserve my words and they do not deserve your money. Do not go to gamestop, do not spend any money there, games are cheaper on amazon prime (even for me with an employee discount!). Do not go here, period.

As a recently former employee, I just wanted to say how the district manager, Steve Key of Rock Hill, SC HIGHLY mistreats his employees. I had been with the company one year and six months when I quit my sales associate position July 12Th 2012. I busted my butt for this company, filling in at stores that needed help, doing things that a manager should have done both customer and work related, organizing everything, keeping the store spotless, filing paperwork that management did not keep up with like they should. I put up with many things that I never should have as an employee. I can honestly say that I have NEVER been so mistreated by any company that I have EVER worked for in my entire life. While I realize that the whole company is not at fault for one district managers indiscretions it is the fault of the whole company for him still being hired on while he mistreats ALL of his employees not just me. I am not at fault for leaving the company, no one had problems with me not even the store or assistant managers. In fact they are not happy that I left because now they are stuck with STEVE KEY'S girlfriends' friend who is highly unqualified for the management position she is in. She has never touched a game in her life and refuses to do work. She has even been sent home for not listening. She is a joke and a disgrace to the gamestop name. I was skipped over for a promotion so that this girl could be hired in and work at our store which has highly agitated me. I did everything a manager did and I know how to run my store but i get skipped over for THIS? Her coming to my store also made it to where i was only getting one day a week, and my daily numbers for res, subs, gpgs, and dlc where awesome. I do not deserve treatment such as this when I was such a good hard working ambitious employee that would have done anything for my company. When I came on to the team I was told that people move up quickly and that gamestop believes in promotions from within the company. WHAT A LIE! I am HIGHLY qualified for the key holding management position, I have done ALL of my level up training. You can literally call ANY and All of my past employers and they will tell you that they would hire me back in a heartbeat! Including my managers at gamestop. I would also like to point out that it is highly illegal to terminate an employee after they put in the two week notification to quit when they are still scheduled for the next week. So in pointing that out, I was suppose to work and was told that my resignation was effective immediately. Steve Key needs to be terminated because he is a bad example of an employee for gamestop and I intend to let everyone know that. He makes everyone in his district miserable and i believe HR needs to do an investigation.
i agree on the lack of management skills> i have been a gamestop member for 5 years and i recently spend $1000.00 on games for my own use and to start my business overseas. when i went back to return some games, and the policy on the reciept is 7days same as cash if games is unopened. well the manager did not want to accept my returns and had sent me to another store site for my returns. and that store said they dont have the money and to go back to the store that had sent me.
well the manager at that store told me he can only take 6games for return and that he cannot take the rest. i told him about their policy on returns then he said ok but he will have to give me a coprerate check for the rest. isaid ok. then two minutes later he said oh im sorry i just called corperate office and we dont do corperate checks anymore. and i was turned away once again.
so i called a different store sight and requested to speak to their district manager and he told me to come into that store and they will give me a corperate check for my returns.. after he had question me like a criminal of why im returning the games... i will never use gamestop for future purchases for my business that im opening overseas. scerw you steve at store sight in #0817 tukwila wa. for a dishonorable and unfriendly service
cancelled orders and they keep the money.
Purchased 2 Playstation Network cards, 1 for $50, 1 for $20 online at Gamestop.com so I could buy a $69 downloadable game. Got 2 emails for order confirmation, then instead of getting the 2 emails with the pin #'s for Playstation Network I get 2 emails >> order cancelled, order cancelled. Both transactions honored and $70 gone from my bank. Got nowhere with Gamestop, supposedly $$ will be back in my bank 3-5 days. Thanks for screwiing me over Gamestop. The reason they cancelled was back-to-back purchases looked "suspicious". Only way to get $69 into PS network is to buy 2 cards as they don't sell $100 cards. I will go to Walmart from now on and NEVER, EVER trust Gamestop.com again. My bank says Gamestop got paid so I am Fkkd out of $70.
very deceptive and shady business dealings
I went to gamestop and for the second time had to trade a psp for the one I had bought a day earlier that was not working. The Second Psp was not in great condtion either. The Umb Door kept popping open during game play I shrugged it off. Two weeks Later it fell off my low desk and the door got jammed shut. When I tried to open the Umd door it opended but then would not close after several attmpts the door came off it's hindges. I was upset and went to a friend's and told him what happend and how I had lost the recepit he called Gamestop when I was in the bathroom and they said sure sure bring it on in we will replace it anyways. I walked twenty minute's there and the guy looked at it and said we can not take it back. I know it falling off the desk my my fault but regardless they should not have sold me a game system that had a umd door to begin with that easily could have contrubited to why it broke so easily. Gamestop has also sold me a game in the past that had a defective disk that would crack after while of gameplay They seem to thrive on hiding behind the policy that once something is broken if it's sold as broken tough luck. The Better business bureru should hold Gamestop accountble every state has consumer law's and Gamestop violate's and break's these law's.
Deezil my whole point of the matter is there is no proof either way that if what I did broke it or if it was because it was already broken that was the major contributeing factor. Regardless they seemed to have no problem selling a problem selling me a broken item and it even says on the recepit that they will not take back broken item's Despite that counsmer law says that the item in question has to be working for a reasonble ammount of time otherwise the coustmer may return it no matter what the store's warrenty say's. Even if this problem had not had not happend the point is they sold me a defective item. However Im not going to bother fileing a complaint with counsumer affair's or complaining to the Bb Gamestop has lost me as a coustmer forever I rather deal with a company that will stand behind their products and care about the coustmer's and not about their money.

Sure, you can return it to the store if it fails to work for a "reasonable" amount of time, which is usually decided by the store or the manufacturer. Maybe they would have exchanged it if you had the receipt, maybe not, but without it they have no obligation to replace it.
easter miracle... not
A Easter miracle in Tucson Gamestop
I decided to treat myself to a copy of Skyrim for my PS3, so off I went to my local Gamestop at Tucson Place. Once inside I asked the male assistant if they had a copy of Skyrim, he replied "only used" he told me it would cost $54.99, I said OK. It came in a generic box with no docs, just the disk, I asked if he had one with the original box, he said no. At this point I decided to go somewhere else for my game and thanked him. And then a miracle, the female assistant handed him a new sealed copy of Skyrim, out of thin air.
He scanned the game and I proceeded to pay with my card, and behold, the new sealed copy of Skyrim was only $49.99.
Now I must ask myself, after being lied to, and nearly cheated out of money, do I want to shop at Gamestop again? I very much doubt that.

overcharged for used game
I bought 2 used games, of the 2 games 1 was marked $27.99. The sale was rang up and I paid. When I got to the car, I checked my receipt and found that I was charged $34.99 for the used game. I went back into the store and pointed the mistake out to the cashier who rang me up. He said well $34.99 is what its marked in the computer. I said well this game and all the others on the shelf are all marked $27.99. Well its a mistake he tells me. I said well when the price was different why didn't you tell me that there was a price difference, I may not have purchased it. I said the brand new version of this game is on the shelf for $34.99, why would I pay $34.99 for the oldest version?! At that point he just stood there unresponsive. I said are you gonna give me my money back for the difference and his response was well it was right in the computer. At that point I told them I'd never step foot back in that store again. I have gone online and filed complaints with them but they said they'd refer it to the district manager who has 3 full business days to respond. Well those days have came and went with no response from the district manager (no surprise there). So I emailed the corporate office to let them know I haven't heard anything...guess I'll find out if they will actually do anything. - Also I decided to look online for this game and found it brand new for $22! So the next time you think you'll save a few bucks by buying used from GameStop...think again!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Gamestop just tried to charge me 21 dollars for a used copy of halo 5. It is clearly 10 dollars on the site and in the catalog that I showed them. They still insisted that I give them 21 dollars when that is an old used game that is priced at 10 dollars smh. I didn't go for it.
Not cool when you buy a used game and find stickers underneath that made it WAY WAY WAY cheaper. Or that the new version costs less on gamestop online than I paid for it used at their own store... annoying...
I ran into the same for my son on his birthday. Will never shop at gamestop again.
oh and ebay and amazon are not gamestop/ebgames so they dont have it the same price because those are actualy PRE OWNED not new even if it is labeled new. once it leaves a store it is no longer new. so those games can be sold lower. [sorry for the double post forgot to mention this in my post.]
Guy is Akamai, while you are right docj's story is shaky. gamestop/ebgames stopped using used game stickers in 2006. they switched to pre-owned, then when they switched to power up rewards system it is MARKED with a power up rewards symbol. not ONE whole wall is marked the same. some ARE new and marked new. the new games range from $40 to $60 while pr owned range from $10 to $30. before tax. The stickers dont make errors, if it is marked pre-owned the computer has it marked via the bar code. so if it is say $10 pre-owned mark then the computer will read $10. the fact that it read $39.99 means that the sticker was not $27 preowned but marked $34 NEW. I was asking for proof of her claim that it is marked used [which is no longer used by gamestop i confermed this with my local gamestop who asked corporate.] if she can show us it is indeed marked $20 then she has a case. if it says new then she doesnt. again no gamestop has one wall dedicated to used games. there are pre owned bins of old games from the past game systems.[all marked pre owned.] please show us the sticker on the games you purchased and if you want the recipt. i checked all my "used" games and they are marked with pre owned. all marked $19-29. the new ones are marked $34. btw Guy is Akamai your coment agrees with her yet you mark disagree realy intresting.
Actually I just looked up the last four game WE bought from gamestop. All of them were marked pre-owned at 54.99 (non-pro member price), and when I looked up the prices they were all 40$ or less brand new on every site I looked at. Not to mention that dragon quest hero's 2 (edible game btw) had a second sticker underneath and used to be 15$ cheaper.
*terrible not edible
They must sell you the item at the marked price. It is illegal to post prices in the store, in ads or online, and then charge a different price in the data base and try to get it by the customer.
File a complaint with the local Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs - Consumer Protection Division, and you will get results and others will be saved from the same trick. They can investigate and charge companies with crimes and post fines
Dont bother with the Better Business Bureau, they dont invesitgate business fraud, they are a ratings agency.
so if i understand your complaint you bought a game MARKED with a "pre-owned" sticker that said it was "$27.99" did you factor in the sales tax in your mind for the game? was the new "$22" one on amazon or ebay? those are preowned meaning it left a store being bought/stollen. honestly i have checked new games and most are $30+ even before tax. ast game i bought was about $60 brand new fresh from the shipping box. that even as a powerup rewards member discount cost me $60.
if the game says "pre-owned" then the computer will read the "$22.99" before tax is added. if that sticker says NEW then it is what they claimed. which sticker does the games you purchasd have.
also you could have asked the employee for the manager. then if that didnt work ask for the name and manager number. then report your case to corporate along with that number and you would get money back, an appology, and possibly keep the games for free. i was sold in the past a wrong product, did this that same day and in 2 weeks got a letter with the money back.
if this is ages later it is possibly to late.
accepts stolen goods
If you are missing your gameing system call the police with your serial number first and have them check gamestop. They buy stolen game systems from people with identification and will not sell you back your system when you prove they have it.
That does not surprize me at all...Look at the people that work there...They look like x cons...
corrupt/lazy staff
A few weeks ago, I decided to go buy a Turtle Beach Headset, knowing that there were two different kinds (Wired/Wireless), I wished to buy the one that was Wired to save time and cost of purchasing endless amounts of Batteries. I asked the Store Manager, he showed me a $200 Turtle Beach Headset, assured me that it was wired, and so I bought it. Once I...
Read full review of GameStop and 1 commentdont order from them
I ordered two ps3 controllers on line for my son, x-mas present. on Saturday, 8 am. Then I got a confirmation e-mail that the order was processed. Yesterday I noticed (by chance) that my order was canceled and "sorry for the inconvenience" because of the price. I spent so much time with the order and thinking I was done, and did not shop for that item at the stores when I had off from work, then to find this out, this way, for a lousy $10 or $20, after all the money my son spends at the store with pre-ordered games, etc., I could not believe it ! I did not even use any of his bonus points on his reward card
! Good luck if this is how you treat your customers.
I would like an apology and have my order processed as a valued customer. My order number is on my complaint and the reward card number is on the order.
Suit yourself on what you do, however, keep in mind, it will not be me, but it will be you, who will be "sorry for the inconvenience". Good luck .
I preordered a copy of Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City Special Edition in early February. When I paid in full I was told that what I ordered was the special edition, that indeed that they only had the special edition available for preorder. My daughter telephoned the store on February 18, 2012 and was told by a sales associate that she indeed was going to receive the specail edition. My daughter received a text message yesterday that her game would be available for pickup on Tueday March 20, 2012. I picked up the game and when my daughter opened the game she found that she had not received the special edition. I telephoned the store and was told that the special edition was discontinued before I placed my preorder and that said special edition was not availvable. I was lied to not once but twice, this an unfair business practice and my daughter who has dealt with Gamestop exclusively says she will never deal with Gamestop again not even if they were the last video game store. If I can't get some kind of satisfaction in this situation my only choice will be to file a complaint with The North Carolina Attorney General.
I'm sorry that happened too you, I had the same problem, but seeing how it was almost Christmas the store are filled up the includes the gamestop's server so you might have a problem ordering items offline and since (I'm taking a shot in the dark here) you used a credit card you could call them and ask for a reorder of the same item, they'll truly help. So if this help.
mislead info on promotion
G'day mate,
this is a disappointed email from me
this is apply to
GameStop

Madison, MS 39110

This is ###! i went to USA during black friday on 2011 for purchase new ps3 for my 1st time. The supervisor female AA who work at that time mislead people, the promotion stated if buy 2 free 1 for pre-owned games. but when i purchase 12 games. they charge me on the expensive product. all the cheap products get free.
Example, supposedly, if i buy 2 of $10 games which equal to $20, i should get free 1 $10 as well (same value or less). However, I bought 12 games. all the expensive price is being charged and all those cheap get free. This is not fair. when I asked for cancelation and redo again, they told me they cant do that. unable to do so. did not give me any strong evident. they keep delaying me.
so, my conclusion is, i told them, this is unfair, I will return back all the pre-owned games and purchase again or i will return all my purchased of $517 (which include 320gb ps3, bundle of ps3 accessories). Guess what that female AA said, 'we cant do so or else return everything'.
i said, 'yes', i'l do that'.
she said we closing in 2mins (even though it was 8:20pm). so, i said, i will return it back tomorrow then, she said yes, we open at tomorrow at 10am, and i'l be here on that morning. she also stated, if i ever open the ps3, Im unable to return everything.
this is show how the customer service in Madison, MS, Gamestop.
what was really pissed me off as i spend my time more than 4 hours to search the best games especially on hot sale (which only sale on that day). a very good service from 2pm-6.30pm (i spend my time searching on the best deal). even the female AA was there on the counter.
anyway, in conclusion, it was unjustice which cheat customers with hidden agenda in their promotion. they also rather forgo sale if been noticed, in order to cheat people to get higher sale.
my question is, what is the wrong to return all the 12 games, and purchase it again rather than return it everything.. what a stupid decision.
In customer point of view, it really bring bad image to foreigner like me which im so disappointed with Gamestop in US. i rather purchase a little bit expensive products as long as they do not try to cheat me or mislead me.
for business point of view, such a stupid amateur mistake for supervisor / manager who in charge on that time. i rather return it back and let the customers choice again or at least for next time.
p/s: not to mention the supervisor female AA just add mislead information into my membership data on my address. she also show horrible service with bad impression.
IT WAS NOT KAYLA WHO on THE CASHIER i blame the most( even though she did many mistake or maybe the system, she also even throw my receiptt to the rubbish bin (i guess to close the evident)) BUT the horrible part is HER SUPERVISOR (a female curly African American) WHO look INCHARGE on that time (about 8.10- 8.30pm). which i so disappointed on her decision. She also bring my receipt alone with her in the office room, God knows what she did to the data receipt, hopefully, no more lying or misleading or delete evident.
only 1 person i like there is a cashier before kayla (a guy which help me the most (probably to gain more sale from me before his shift end)).
my detail receipt:

You are kind of an idiot if you believe that it is misleading. Why would a company have you buy 2 cheap games and get an expensive game for free?
charged twice for purchase
The Game stop in Alabaster, AL is in the practice of hiring people that know how to manipulate the credit card system to steal from you. Beware of all credit and gift card purchases. The cashier will charge your card twice and try to get you to pay for the game twice. If this was an honest mistake, I wouldn't be online making a complaint against Game stop but this guy (Aubrey) knew exactly what he was doing. He charge the $100 gift card for the full purchase amount as a partial payment, then ran the card again for the balance and then he told me I had to pay an additional $35.00 to cover the balance of the game because my gift card only had $32 on it. i told him that he was wrong, this card had $100 on it. Then I told him to void the purchase, well he voided the $32 but not the $67. I told the manager, and he claimed the purchased was showing void in their system and so when I looked at my card statement online, that is not what the statement showed. It showed up as two separate transactions, one for $67 and another for $32. This morning the $32 was back on the card but the $67 wasn't. If the transaction was voided in the system at the same time then both transactions should be back on the card at the same time. I call the gift card company and they verified the $67 was a separate transaction that was still showing pending. If I thought this was an honest mistake, I wouldn't be making this complaint but it is the holidays so watch out for these young cashiers, they are computer savvy and they know how to manipulate the system to steal so that it doesn't look like stealing. Unfortunate for him I am just as computer savvy so I better get my money back today.

They charged me twice for a PS4 and then told me I would have no choice but to wait 5 days for it to get fixed DO NOT PAY WITH CARD purchases from GameStop should be paid in cash
fraud
For Christmas, I received two Rock Band/Guitar Hero type guitar stands. One, my son bought and had already put together for me. The other came from another acquaintance and was in a box that was branded GameStop.
Today, I tried to return the duplicate to GameStop. It was complete and had never been out of the box. BUT, I lacked the receipt. So, the clerk told me (eventually, the store manager as well) that they couldn't take it back because they "didn't have anything to scan". They said the SKU is only on the receipt and they couldn't get it from the box.
It's a GameStop product (i.e, couldn't have been purchased anywhere else). It's brand new and in the box and I'm returning it within a week of Christmas. Is it really reasonable to refuse to take it back because I don't have the receipt? Is it reasonable to setup a return system that prevents this?
I've learned my lesson and I won't be buying any of my grandson's games there in the future. I won't encourage that kind of nonsense business policy.
Ordered a PSP Game system for my son, it was on sale for 129.99, When it came in thhey charged me full price, When i asked why, i was told it is no longer on sale, even though the store did not have one during the sale, and the store manager told me if i put money down on it ill still get it for the sale price, the managers name is Brandon and he is a liar, i contacted the district manager and was told that he couldnt do anything.
Equaleyes, you have too understand gamestop has a lot of fake product boxes too deal with a made a system that if the product have a receipt will be able too refund or exchange for a product with the same or lower price. It doesn't matter if the box was not open or if it has a gamestop brand logo on it, they don't know if you had just bought or you made the box your self, but either way I'm very sorry that happened too you.
online purchase/refund policy
LONG, LONG term customer, with 2 teenage sons who one every gaming system in existence (all purchased from Game Stop), the first to pre-order games... have spent thousands of dollars at Game Stop.
Purchased Star Wars the Force, Unleashed for the PS3 ($29.99) on Tuesday with Overnight Shipping, UPS erroneously marked it as delivered on Thursday. Called Friday to report and seek a replacement (as it was a gift for my son). Was advised that a replacement could not be shipped until Game Stop completed its "investigation." This process of "tracing" the package would take 10 business days.
When asked to speak with a supervisor and gently remind them of my long term purchase history--I was placed on hold 3 times (for 3 minutes or more) and told that representative had spoken to supervisor and the policy stands.
When asked additional times to speak with supervisor, was finally transferred to Jamie at extension 7632, who proceeded to tell me that the policy was to protect Game Stop from customers who would abuse them. I reminded him to view my account, 16 purchases in the past 3 months alone--he said it did not matter, they must be protected.
Directly asked him to explain to me why Game Stop would be willing to lose a long term customer who has spent thousands, just this year alone over $29.99. He said, "Well ma'am that is certainly your choice."
Final resolution: I wait 10 business days for UPS investigation. Upon it going in my favor, I could receive a refund in 5-7 business days if their claims representative approves it. If UPS erroneously find it was delivered in hand, I have no recourse. If the claims representative does not approve the refund, I have no recourse.
My final resolution: To NEVER, EVER spend another dollar of my hard earned money at Game Stop and to find alternatives. I would rather spend more money to avoid the drama (total customer service call time 2 hours) of dealing with a business that sees the value of my business as worth less than $29.99.
#EpicFailGameStop
Decided to canvas the neighborhood for the package, so that UPS or Game Stop could not argue with the deliverability issue... package, damaged beyond recognition was delivered 7 houses down at a completely wrong address.
Cancelled refund request as the drama involved in purchasing a simple game is not worth dealing with their poor customer service. Goodbye Game Stop, hello Best Buy or any other alternative available.
As for the previous comments, as an award-winning strategist focusing on Customer Relationship Management and Customer Service in e-commerce--I'm appalled that consumers would accept anything less than being valued by companies. Simple enough, as a consumer we have the choice to take our business elsewhere and so it shall be done.
:-)
It's called common sense customer service. Based on a customer's history and the silly value of the product purchased--yes, my complaint is with Game Stop as they are not willing to take responsibility for the transaction. I did not make my purchase with UPS and since UPS is the ONLY shipping option they offer--clearly Game Stop is the party at grievance here.
And for the record, there are alternatives (Best Buy and PlayNTrade) who do not carry this same policy. Nor does Game Stop outline this particular shipping policy in their terms of purchase.
Seriously, wait up to 3 weeks for Game Stop and UPS to resolve an issue that costs $29.99--because of possible abuse from a long-time customer who has spent hundreds times that amount? Do we really check our brains at the door when it comes to customer service?!
P.S. UPS was contacted twice the same day they claimed to have delivered and I was told that the transaction was with Game Stop and all remedies had to be found with them. What is the remedy for a customer who is dealing with two companies, neither of which will take responsibility?
#Fail
I think any business who is serious about customer service, should look at every case differently, instead of using a broad brush. Obviously, a long-term, loyal customer offers more revenue value than a first-time customer...
In a perfect world, when situations like this arise, the company would not force the customer to bare the entire brunt of their own policies that related to customer service. A policy that forces a customer to wait up to 2 weeks for an exchange or refund, and only upon UPS accepting responsibility, is not customer centric and should be reconsidered by the company.
Unfortunately, we're dealing with the largest North American game seller, clearly their dominance in the market has created a situation whereby the customer, any customer whether long or short-term, is of little value to them.
It's unfortunate and they have lost my business, which I'm sure a competitor will find more valuable.
sold a broken xbox 360 wireless
Gamestop sold me an xbox 360 wireless with the seal broken. So who ever had it before did some thing to it. Any way gamestop took it from who ever had it and then they sold it to me. I went home thinking oh yeah, but when i did an update for it on xbox live it failed. Ends up that the xbox I bought form gamestop did not work at all. So I went back to go return it and they would not take it back or exchange it. They ripped me off for $139 on a broken machine!
in-store pickup
The several times that I’ve used the in-store pickup option on Gamestop’s website it’s been functionally worthless. Each and every time I’ve used it to have them hold an item for me, I’ve invariably received an e-mail saying that they’re oh-so-sorry, but they couldn’t find the item in stock at the location that I requested. The thing is, if I go to the store that I selected for in-store pickup and spend the extra bit of time that I was trying to save by using the option in the first place, I always find the item sitting on the shelf without fail. In fact, just this Tuesday I attempted to have them hold a game for me for in-store pickup that just came out that very day, and after getting the same e-mail I always get about how they were unable to locate it, I went in on the way home from work and was able to snag a copy with no problems.
So assuming that the request shoots out an e-mail that the clerks have to respond to, then it’s clear that they’re just marking the requested items as unavailable without bothering to look for them. If the request system just scans store inventory for available stock, then there’s a huge disconnect between what the store reports that they have in stock and what the website says that they have. Either way, there’s a problem there that could stand to be fixed. This sort of thing tends to create more ill will than it’s worth, and they’d be doing themselves a bigger favor by getting rid of the in-store pickup option altogether than they would be by keeping it around in its currently non-functional state.

went in to buy a magazine and came out with an unwanted subscription
I was in my local mall with my girlfriend when I decided to stop in at Gamestop. The one across from Old Navy. (There are two Gamestops in the mall and I don't know why). I came in looking for a new magazine that came out. I found the GameInformer magazine and brought it the register. I looked at the price of the magazine and it read $4.99. After the giving it to the clerk, he told me it came with a 'Gamestop Card'. I politely declined, but he insisted and said it was free. I was OK with this. However, he started to ask me for my address and phone number. I start to roll my eyes and figure he just wants to put me on mailing list. At this point, I'm a little annoyed but don't show it. I give him the information and he finally rings me up. When he's done he tells me the total is $14.99. I'm like, what the...? I don't say anything and give him my money. I was with my girlfriend at the time and I just wanted to get out of there without complaining. Afterwards, looking at my receipt, I noticed the magazine was on there and next to it in paranthesis, it said 12 issues. The 'Gamestop Card' is NOT free! I was conned and I let him con me. It is very annoying to find this out and if Gamestop allows employees to sell subscriptions to people without their knowledge, I will prevent people from buying from their store. It is deceitful and unfair.

just got back from mall in hicksville, long island and figured out same situation.Manager sold me subscription to gaming mag, but in next sentence telling me i just saved $4.00 in actual spent extra $11.00 .I don't appreciate being b.s. I went back and returned subscription and will no longer shop at a store that conducts business this way.
Repeat post. Seriously dude, you got mocked like crazy when you posted this like a month ago. Are you really that bored?
wow this whole thing is stupid a waste of 2 minutes...
Why didn't you just say "forget it" and walk away when the price came up as $14.99. That would have also been the way to do it without complaining. Do you really think your girlfriend would have cared if you complained at the store? If she wouldn't understand you complaining over a $14.99 magazine, you should dump her immediately as she is going to end up taking you for tons of $ during your relationship.
I hope you did what ILC mentioned.
employee lying
Oh you will love this one. I'm going to start with the first problem. I went to trade in a 360 Battery Pack. I was told they wouldn't trade it in without the charge cable. I go back get the charge cable and then I'm told (by a different Employee) that they in fact will take seperate trade in's on the wireless battery packs. Lie #2 was earlier today, June...

Worst experience I have ever received from anywhere in my entire life. Me and my wife walked into the gamestop in the Valdosta Mall yesterday. I wanted to get her a PSP and a few games. The CSR that was helping us, did just fine. when it came time to checkout. a person named chester... stepped up and asked me if i wanted to get a pre-order.. I said "no thank you" he asked again, and again and again.. I told him sorry but i am not interested. The person then asked me if I was stupid? because if I didnt get the preorder I was not listening to him and making a poor choose. I again said "I am not stupid, I am just not interested. The person said "are you not listening to me? Do u not care about money? because you are making a poor choice. This same looping conversation went on for more than 10 minutes. the customers in the line told chester to leave it alone. the other agent told him to leave it alone. and i asked for the last time to drop it, because I am not interested in a preorder. The person then told me to get out of their store. I then stopped the transaction of over 200 dollars.. I asked why do i have to leave. he then said "you are not listening to me, you are not smart, and you need to leave my store" I told him to give me the number to corp.. he refused and said he was calling security. I told him to call security because i have done nothing wrong. once again he said " you are not listening to me, get this pre order or leave" I then told him, he was pissing me the F*** off and I am leaving before this escalated into something bigger. SO Gamestop lost my business forever at that store, and lost my 200 dollars that day. and the over 1500 I spend a year there.

If this truly did go down, I would escalate it as far as you can.
blatent lieing to garner sales
I went to Gamestop this afternoon to pre order a copy of Mortal Kombat Kollector's Edition. For the PS3. I was answered with, "We are out of PS3 pre orders, but we have one left on the 360 if you want that one" When I said no, can you check if any of the other Gamestop stores in the area have a PS3 pre order left. I was answered with, "It's the same system...
Read full review of GameStop and 2 commentspoorly run, sell non-working discs and
The Gamestop at Memorial city mall has continually sold me bad games. Three times have i bought a game from them that doesn't work, and on multiple occasions I have tried to buy games that they seem to have the box for, but not the actual disc itself. They also fail to check any of there games, for I have bought a game that was a blatant counterfeit today...
