unsealed games at new prices
Several Gamestop stores in Mississippi (Grenada, Batesville, Oxford) are selling unsealed games at new prices. New games are supposed to be sealed. If a new game is unsealed, it becomes used. Just like how a brand new car leaves a car lot, it depreciates in value. I have found multiple times game stop has tried to sell me used games at new prices. Also the...

I called to check the status of my account. The girl who answered told her long sales pitch diatribe they have to say. When I said I needed to check the status of my pre-orders for two games to be sure I would get the extras only available with pre-orders, she said she was too busy and had a customer to help. I reminded her that I too was a customer and have...
Read full review of GameStoptraded in my wrong hard drive
So, I went into gamestop a month ago to trade in my xbox 360 towards an xbox one. I had two hard drives that had been mixed up in the car. I told them this, and told them to trade in the 20 gb hard drive, and not the 120 gb hard drive. I figured they could do this since they plugged in my xbox and wiped my memory on the console she could resell (on the box, you can see how much space you have used/have remaining) they then charge me for the 20 gb price. Okay, good, I buy my xbox one. Now, I check my xbox a week ago and find out the [censored]es took my 120 gb hard drive with 6 years worth of storage on it, and better yet, charged me for the 20 gb price. I'm pissed and I surely will never go back to a gamestop because this is yet another time they've f****d me over. Never go to a gamestop!

terrible customer service
I called the GameStop in dolphin mall by the main entrance to ask if I was able to reserve the xbox one. Needless to say I was connected to a person by the name of Jaz****, I asked my question to her and she responded with possibly the worst attitude that I have ever experienced. She told me a flat out NO! and so asked her if I was able to speak with stores manager, she responded with " I am the manager... Sir! I tried not to give her attitude and hung up. I called another GameStop and asked the same question and they responded politely that I was able to and did so. GameStop should not have any mangers ( a person couldn't possibly be a manager...) like this person, this person was very. I will not shop at this GameStop again nor will any of my friends and family.

It's was my birthday and I had really wanted a game called modern warfare 3, it worked for 2 days but then it said the disc was unrecognized and then I had token the disc out the tray and it turns out that they gave me a cracked disc and I couldn't take it back because it was too late to return it, so GameStop really should work on that.
slow response time and two errors on one order
I'm not one to go out of my way to complain about a company and it's service, so long as the company or service is fair and resolves their issues without much hassle. GameStop however, made two mistakes for my one online order and made me waste a lot of time trying to get in touch with someone to resolve these issues.
I ordered three games from GameStop online during one of their buy two get one free promotion; I ordered two copies of Pokemon Black 2 and one copy of Pokemon White 2. When I received my purchase in the mail I noticed that they only had two game cases and didn't think much of it. When I got home and opened them I saw that there were only 2 games, one copy of Pokemon Black 2 and one copy of "Pokemon White 2"(I'll explain why Pokemon White 2 is in quotations in a bit). I thought I had placed my order wrong, so I went to double check. After I was sure it wasn't my mistake I decided to give the GameStop number that they listed on the returns and services area of the package. The number they had listed was [protected], I called and the number went to a Magic Jack advertisement and then just ended. Maybe I just didn't know that there was suppose to be a one before the 800, but I guess it was just a small annoyance. After I finally called I reached their automated machine; it put me on hold and I decided to wait. It was around 3:30 when I called so, when they said they were busy I believed them. An hour went by and no one answered me. I wasn't that mad about it since it was the first time I called. Thinking it would be faster to go to the store and get my replacement, I headed over to the nearest GameStop. The man there told me there was nothing he could do at the store since I bought it online, which, to me seemed really strange. Why couldn't he just inform the online GameStop that they made a mistake to my order and he was fixing it in store? Anyway, I decided to give them another call, this time around 5; I was put on hold again and waited about 30-40 minutes -- only to get no reply. I decided to leave them an email with a 24 - 48 hour wait for a response. The next day I decided to call them again instead of waiting almost a day for a reply. I called again this time around 12. I ended up calling them 5 times waiting on hold 30 minutes, then 25, then 10, then 10 again and finally the 5th time I called and waited for 10 minutes I got a hold of someone. I told them what happened and the woman said that she would send out the replacement -- the whole thing took 2 minutes.
Later that night I decided to try and play Pokemon White 2 with my little brother, who had been enjoying the Pokemon Black 2. I was so busy trying to get the first issue sorted out that I forgot to even check the games. I didn't think I needed to, since it is GameStop and its a large company. When I went to play Pokemon White 2 my DS said the game was Hoshigami Remix. I thought something was wrong with my DS so, I took the game out and tried again -- same thing. Upon closer inspection of the game you could tell it was just the Pokemon White 2 sticker glued onto a different game. I should've noticed that the game was wrong because the Pokemon Black and White games have an infrared system, so their game cartridges are a black color. I didn't know how GameStop could let someone sell them the wrong game with a different sticker on it, do they not check them at all? Now I was really upset. If I noticed this sooner I could've just told them about this issue too. It was about 9 so, I knew they were closed and I couldn't call them. I sent them an email that night. The next morning I called them at 9:30 in the morning, the first time I called I waited on hold for nearly 30 minutes, and the second time I called I waited for 15 and someone finally answered. I told them about how I've had 2 mistakes from one order and I told her about the Pokemon White 2 I received. She said she'd send a replacement and that was it. Before ending the call she asked if there was anything else she could do for me, I asked if that was it and whether they would at least offer to compensate me for my inconvenience and wasted time, she told me she could take off the shipping charge -- I already chose the free shipping option when I ordered it.
It took 3 days before I was able to get all the issues sorted out. I wasted at least THREE hours on hold while an automated voice kept repeating "We know your time is valuable and we will get to shortly" and "We are currently experiencing higher than normal call volumes, someone will help you in just a few moments"; it kept mocking me. There was no efficient way to contact GameStop, either you wait on hold for hours, or you send an email that will take at lease a day to get through. For all my troubles I thought I'd at least get something, an offer would've been nice, but I had to ask and all they could do was give me free shipping which I already had. I'm extremely unhappy with their service and after all that trouble having to wait another three days before I get the replacement games. I don't think any company as large as GameStop should be so short staffed, that they have to put someone on hold for at least a few hours before someone is reached. Companies that make mistakes should offer some kind of compensation for any and all inconveniences. I am still very displeased with GameStop and their lack of ability to quickly resolve issues that they caused. Since it's obvious GameStop doesn't check used games before accepting them, I have half a mind to go and sell GameStop the Hoshigami Remix with the Pokemon White 2 sticker.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what I should do, please let me know. Thanks!

I feel ya man. I just bought a wow subscription thinking I got the game, im all like "cool, I just got wow, time to redeem". (note, this was a digital purchase, all online). I went to the website, and it said I have 30 days, i'm like, "I just bought $20 trial", I go back to the gamestop website, it said full game, so then I looked it up and guess what. you have to pay every [censor] month! and it never told me that on the gamestop or blizzard site. and I cant get a refund. then I went to write a bad review to tell people that you have to pay every month. and also their website was slow [censor] he* the whole time. im so pissed
online store
Don't waste your time or money with this store. The online store is a bad joke. My order was cancelled, my gift card zeroed out, and the explanation was, the order did not pass security checks. ? Apparently either using a laptop is just plan unsecure, or using a gift card is unsecure, or using an American Express credit card is unsecure, or some other completely normal thing is unsecure. What clowns.
I placed an order for the EA sports active 2 for PS3. I added a PC game as a filler so that I could apply a coupon (like $20 off $50). But they cancelled the EA sports active 2 without sending me a notification. Instead they just shipped the PC game. Why do I need to pay and get a filler if without getting the game I really want?
faulty equipment
I bought a playstation 3 in october 2012 as a christmas present. This was a brand new console. On christmas, it didn't work so I returned to gamestop to exchange it. I was told their return policy is 30 days even though when I bought it, I was told they would take it back if it had problems. I was even shown on the receipt where it says any purchases between 10/1 and 12/24 could be returned by 1/15/2013. #! They wouldn't take it back and exchange it. I've purchased three consoles and multiple games from you. Never again!

muggers and thieves
Here we go again another co. using misleading practices to lure people on black friday; the week before black friday i went to “gamestop” here in tampa, fl to check prices on refurbished ipods, they had 2. one 16 gbts for $270 and a 32 gbts for $290, i waited for black friday to take advantage of 25% off, and to my sorprise, the 16 gbts was $314 and the 32 gbts was $364.They were the same units i saw the week before. The sales guys couldn’t say anything when i told him how low that was, to increase the prices to deceived people. He can only say that they were on sale 25% off. I hope this co. gets what they deserve for using this misleading practices. muggers and thieves.
Agree with Tasha
screw game stop, take your business elsewhere
I hate game stop. My brother is the manager at one here, and even he hates them. You buy a $60 game, take it back same day cause it sucks, unlike what the guy behind the counter said. "Best game ever" etc. and they're like we'll give you $9 in gamestop credit for it.
Excuse me? I wan't to get a REFUND not sell this game. RE FUND!
Screw game stop, take your business elsewhere.
If you buy it and play it... The game is used and therefore not new anymore so cannot be refunded or resold as new. This is a business not a game rental company. I used to work there and although the company fails to treat employees right, the ignorance of customers is worse. No company will allow you to buy a NEW game and play it and then return it. GameStop will at least buy it back for a decent price... usually $40-$45 for a $60 game within the first week. Anywhere else you go the return policy clearly states that a new game may only be returned within the return period of unopened. Either but it pre owned if you want a full refund or... if you think the game will stink... Wait for a damn review and stop being ignorant
when i am searching for a specific system i give it by name. if i want to look up nintendo dsi, i would sAY nintendo dsi... same appies for ds lite and the nintendo ds. no matter the ### i type in i get everything but what i want...i get the ###.
Gamestop.com has charged $416. unauthorized charges to my credit card
this is a case of did you play it or not. if you didnt play it and just opened it they 50% of the time give you the full price as a swap [i.e. they will swap it for a game of the same price.] or will refund you 1/2 or 1/4th the original price. from what i can tell you were charged 85% from original price. which means they found issues with the disc that reduces the value. this means you had 35% that were restock and repair costs. this adds up to less money for you.
GameStop in Burlington washington, told my nine year old
Daughter they would hold a game for her, they Would hold
A game for her, a hour later they sold it, she is crying, I
Just called the manager he was so rude! I WILL
NEVER go back there, NO ONE I know will ever
go back! Ugh! GAMESTOPs managers
Should be fired!
Agree with Thud and Brenda. This is why I love their pre-owned games. I have the confidence of buying a game and being able to return it if it doesn't meet my expectations. Plus, I also love their $30 guaranteed trade deal. I play and beat the game in less than 30 days and when I trade it, I get a guaranteed $30. If you're getting only $9 bux for a game it probably means the game was older. I would strongly suggest you learn the concept of Supply and Demand. If I spend $2, 000 on a new computer and take it to trade it in 6 months later, I'm only going to get a fraction of what I paid for it. Same with video games. if your expecting to get a high trade value on a copy of Black Ops 1 the day before Black Ops 2 comes out, you're going to get pennies on the dollar. IMHO.
OK, and what's the back story. If you are going to complain, at least tells us why.
never received preorder
I preordered the call of duty care package. I received a email saying it shipped on release day and would be delivered 4 days later. 4 days passes and it never leaves the warehouse according to the tracking number. I email the customer service and received an automated email saying I have to wait 10 days for them to do anything. 10 days passes and I call them. The lady reassures me that they will trace it and if they don't find it they will send out a new one to replace it in 7 to 10 days. Here's my problem from the get go, I have already missed out on the double xp weekend which was a perk of preordering but oh well I will let that go. I finally broke down and bought the game from wal mart because I was tired of waiting. Anyway, 7 days passes and I check my bank account and there the purchase price refunded in my account but where's the shipping cost? I call them (and keep in mind when you call gamestop customer service you will be on hold for a minimum of 30 mins) And the I ask the lady what is going on with my order and she says "we received the return" I said I didn't want a return I wanted the item I ordered and besides that why was I charged shipping for something I never received? She said she would put in a request for a refund on shipping which I never received. My thoughts are that you are apparently not guaranteed anything when you preorder. Not only did I receive nothing but I was charge $8 to receive nothing. And by the way I found them on amazon for the same price but with free shipping so next time I will definetly buy from them. You would think that when a company makes a mistake or a package is lost shouldn't they do something to try to make the customer happy? I didn't receive an apology or any offer for help in making the situation right. I wasn't even offered for them to ship the item to me. I am guessing since they were limited edition someone withing gamestop wanted it since they are no longer available. I contacted corporate but received no response from them either so I am guess the only other thing is to contact the Better Business Bureau. I will never buy anything from gamestop again. There's 3 less gamers for them. It is just a matter of time for them. They don't pay good for trade ins, the systems they sell are junk, the customer service sucks, store workers are incompetent and their prices are way to high. When I think about it there is nothing good about gamestop and probably all that keeps them going are the malls of america.
bad customer service / attitude problem
I am a gamestop customer for a very long time, I have provided many good employee feedback and until now there were none complaints. This is the first time I have experienced such behavior that I wish did not happen. As i went inside, I was the only one in line, the two ladies just talking to eachother and ignoring me, then one of them was like "yea so what you need?" I told them I wanted a certain game, her respond was "have you checked the shelves? if it isn't there we don't have it" i replied "i checked online it says this location has a copy" her respond was ..nothing..just started to finally check the computer...they did have a used copy for me...then she gave me my game and nothing, no have a nice day nothing, and it was damm slow...so i asked her "whats the return policy on this used game?" i already knew what it was just wanted to see if they give me accurate information, she responded "no we don't take back games sry" and thats it...im like "Really?" she like "yea why would someone buy a game if they didn't want it" ... i returned the game at another store and have cancelled all my pre orders in all gamestop stores and I am never coming back because i can't trust people who give me wrong information. The two ladies description was ...one was tall and manly looking caucasian..other was short to medium height hispanic.

Have you reported the issue? Anytime I have an issue I use www.tellgamestop.com. Apparently when you request a response from someone, it triggers an email that goes directly to the district mgr. I say this because last month I used it and within 10 minutes I received an email response from someone and the email contained the text from my original complaint. So, I know it works. Much better than their 1-800 line.
I shop at this store all the time, and I can't imagine this is a legit complant. Sounds more like a personal attack on two people at the end of the comments.

making customers believe that digital download orders are available right away
1. Gamestop is misrepresenting digital download orders.
2. They’re making customers believe that digital download orders are available right away.
3. Worst order processing for digital download.
4. Need to be honest with customers and let them know that digital download DOES NOT mean that the order is available to download to customers right away. This is the right thing to do by information customers prior to order processing.

Tried to trade in two games previously purchased at the game stop in Venice Fl. and went through about a 15 min ordeal needing my drivers lic, occupation(retired) and color of hair and eyes.also weight, and my phone number was asked four or five times while the assistant tried filling out some convoluted forms. meanwhile I'm trying to purchase another game (used and worth less than the total of both games to trade in).
After giving my view of what I thought to be a rather Draconian and drawn out process to simply trade in two games the "manager" said he didn't have to take our business. And I totally agreed! and took my two games back. he also kept our personal information, saying that "he would have to call the sheriff office if we took it"..BS.( our personal information he can scam us with. hmmmm...)

this is something that needs to be taken seriously. It is how most game stops are like!
reservation fraud
Ok so i reserve two preowned games they call they next day to tell me they've came in. Saying i can pick it up anytime. So when i go to pick it up like three weeks later they say they can only keep it for 48 hours, and i know this is a lie because others have had theyres kept for way longer
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Dude its on the corporate website that pre orders are held for 48-72 hours after release. The other locations you speak of are probly were your best buds work. I would know, 2 game stops I frequented they would call about my pre order. If it came out on say Mon or Tuesday I couldn't get there before closing. So id ask them if they could hold it for me till Saturday. They would be nice enough to hold it with a sticky note and my name on it.
i would show up before closing on Friday or even 2 hours before opening and get my promised game no problems.
Wow so glad you think you are the only person in the world. I call you to tell you the games are ready to be picked up and you want me to hold them for three weeks. Yeah right, I am putting them back on the shelf to make money. I agree where is the complaint. Get a life dude.
refusal
I've been going to this GameStop for years now and have never had an issue, but now it seems that I do have an issue. I recently went in asked to see how much money I have down on my pre-orders, before the clerk did anything she said "We won't let you cancel or put money down on your pre-orders or make ones in the future." So I asked why? and she replied "Because you used money from your pre-orders to pay off other games, like a bank." Now I don't know about anyone else, but I have gone to midnight releases before and didn't bring enough cash due to a tax factor or some other discrepancy and therefore use some of the money I had on my pre-orders to pay the game off. To my knowledge this is perfectly fine, and I find it quite intrusive that they are practically stealing my money that I worked for.

management
As a recently former employee, I just wanted to say how the district manager, Steve Key of Rock Hill, SC HIGHLY mistreats his employees. I had been with the company one year and six months when I quit my sales associate position July 12Th 2012. I busted my butt for this company, filling in at stores that needed help, doing things that a manager should have done both customer and work related, organizing everything, keeping the store spotless, filing paperwork that management did not keep up with like they should. I put up with many things that I never should have as an employee. I can honestly say that I have NEVER been so mistreated by any company that I have EVER worked for in my entire life. While I realize that the whole company is not at fault for one district managers indiscretions it is the fault of the whole company for him still being hired on while he mistreats ALL of his employees not just me. I am not at fault for leaving the company, no one had problems with me. In fact they are not happy that I left because now they are stuck with STEVE KEY'S girlfriends' friend who is highly unqualified for the management position she is in. She has never touched a game in her life and refuses to do work. She has even been sent home for not listening. She is a joke and a disgrace. I was skipped over for a promotion so that this girl could be hired in and work at our store which has highly agitated me. I did everything a manager did and I know how to run my store but i get skipped over for THIS? Her coming to my store also made it to where i was only getting one day a week, and my daily numbers for res, subs, gpgs, and dlc where awesome. I do not deserve treatment such as this when I was such a good hard working ambitious employee. I plan on telling everyone about my experience with gamestop and how they lie, not only to their employees but their customers as well. When I came on to the team I was told that people move up quickly and that gamestop believes in promotions from within the company. WHAT A LIE! I am HIGHLY qualified for the key holding management position, I have done ALL of my level up training. You can literally call ANY and All of my past employers and they will tell you that they would hire me back in a heartbeat! I would also like to point out that it is highly illegal to terminate an employee after they put in the two week notification to quit when they are still scheduled for the next week. So in pointing that out, I was told that my resignation was effective immediately and I fully intend to get the pay for when I was scheduled to work even if it means a law suit . Steve Key needs to be terminated, he cares for no one but himself and i intend on letting everyone know that. He makes everyone in his district miserable and i believe HR needs to do an investigation.
Regards,
Ashley Burgess
