Hotel booking
Watch out for them. I was stranded in Galveston when the port closed and our cruise ship could not sail. Using my phone I tried to find a place to stay with shuttle. I thought I was calling the hotel to find the price - it looked like they cloned the hotel site so I got Get a Room (they did not disclose that's who they were). The person was quite helpful and booked me in just a few minutes. She quoted the hotel price at $96, said with taxes and fees it would be $111, that because we were booking for the same day it would not be refundable, and asked for my approval to charge that amount which I gave with my credit card info. When I got to the hotel there was no record of a reservation. After 20 minute's hold Get a Room answered and said they did book with the hotel. Checked back with the desk, still nothing in their computer. After another 10 minutes on hold, I hung up and checked back with the desk which confirmed they got a call from Get a Room that it had booked, but the hotel still had not gotten notice in their computer so they couldn't give us the room. We felt stranded in a strange city with no options because we could not get a refund. An hour after arriving at the hotel they confirmed they got the booking and told me the cost of the room plus tax was $79. I thought $32 (40%) was a bit stiff for a few minute's work and a huge hassle. I checked my email receipt and found they charged $131, which of course I did NOT approve and made their fee $52 or 66%! I complained and they refunded $25. But the point is to charge more than what I verbally approved is fraud!
Get a room booking fees
My wife booked a room not realizing she was using "get a room". She did not know they charge a booking fee. She had to cancel the reservation due to illness but" get a room" did not refund the booking fee. Had to call and was on hold for 30-40- minutes before they agreed to refund the booking charge.
I booked a room with a Westin hotel and thought I was booking with the Westin only to find out when my credit card bill came in that I was charged a booking fee.
Crazy why pay a booking fee when there are so may options on the net.
Hotel reservation through trip advisor
Do not reserve a hotel through getaroom! Beware. They are connected to Trip Advisor. We reserved a hotel one month prior to our needing it and were bumped less than 24 hours before we were to arrive to another hotel of lesser quality and amenities. When we called to take care of the problem we waited for 30 minutes to speak to someone and then got passed to two other people. They offered to help take care of the problem but when we arrived at the destination we had no reservation at all and had to pay for one. Save yourself time and money. Do not reserve through getaroom!

Seems like a scam. They changed our hotel a couple days before our trip to something not nearly as nice.
We booked our room through tripadvisor.com with getaroom.com over a month in advance to get a good rate on a nice hotel. We picked the hotel we booked based on a few great amenities like a free shuttle into the city, floor to ceiling windows with a Manhattan view and closeness to the city etc. A few days prior to our trip they tried to move us from this 4 star hotel to a 3 star hotel that is a chain with no view, no shuttle and bad reviews. They said that the hotel we booked was over sold and i'm still not sure why we were the people to get shafted out of all the guests. I called getaroom.com and tripadvisor.com and they offered me a refund but it was too late for us to try and find and book something different at a reasonable price. They said they had to find us something else with comparable rates but the problem is that all the rates are way higher if you try to book a nice hotel a couple days in advance, so all the hotels with comparable rates for a last second room are way lower quality. After being on the phone for over 3 hours I finally convinced them that this is completely wrong and comes across as a scam, and because I was very persistent they finally ended up finding us a better hotel. However, it is still further from the city, does not have a manhattan view and does not have a free shuttle. This all means we will be spending more money than planned and not enjoy our stay as much. They also waisted a bunch of my time on the phone/email and put us in a stressful situation right before our trip! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They hook you with a good deal on a nice Hotel, then they try to put you in something inferior a couple days before your trip when its too late to book something else decent at a reasonable price. They acted very cold to us and really didn't care that we were disappointed and treated very unfairly. Seems like a scam if you ask me.

Warning!
People, do not book via GetARoom, this website is terrible and highly unprofessional!
I booked a hotel stay via this service and they said that I can cancel my booking anytime without any extra fees! And due to some circumstances I really had to cancel my booking. When I contacted customer service and asked them to cancel my reservation they asked for money. Then they said that they never told me anything about free cancellation! These people scammed me, they are real thieves! Avoid like a plague!

Refusal to refund payment even though cancellation notice says "no cancel fee charged"
Cancellation Number: C483219456
Get-a-room claims I cancelled a reservation made through them, but can not provide any documentation that I cancelled this reservation. The cancellation notice (which I did not initiate) states in writing "no cancel fee charged" Yet, they have not refunded my money and repeated requests for a refund are refuse, with get-a-room claiming it is not refundable, even though their cancellation notice says in writing "no cancel fee charged". This organization is a fraud. Never, ever use them.

I did show up at the hotel on September 29, 2016. They had no documentation of a reservation through www.getaroom.com. They had never received any money in my name from www.getaroom.com. It is obvious that www.getaroom.com unilaterally cancelled this reservation and pocketed my $518.16. There have been many other similar complaints against www.getaroom.com on various website. www.getaroom.com are frauds and con artists and should be put out of business.
False advertising
I booked a room with getaroom.com and on both the website and the confirmation email said that the reservation included buffet breakfast for 2 each morning and a $100 resort credit. When I showed up at the hotel the hotel said that the reservation did not include either. Each breakfast buffet was over $30 per person so for a 6 night stay this worked out to over $500 lost. Initially getaroom.com said via email that they would refund the money but a week later they emailed back that no refund would be sent. The company is a fraud and should be avoided.

Room reservation
I was travelling with my friends (4 of us) and we booked two hotel rooms via GetARoom booking service. I received a notification and everything seemed fine.
When we arrived at the place they said that there was only one room reserved for us. We paid for the two rooms.
We asked were there any free rooms left and they said no. They also said that 4 people are not allowed to stay in 1 room. Then we decided to get a refund and find another place to stay, but the hotel staff said that they don't do refunds. We have argued with them for a long time, but did not get our money back. So two of us stayed there and the other two had to search for another place and pay again. Terrible! I do not recommend GetARoom!

Double billed by get a room and hotel
Do not book through get a room!
I called get a room to book 1 night at cocoa beach florida. They told me the rate was $257.01. We booked the room. I arrived at wakulla in cocoa beach. A day later i noticed on my bank statement i was charged twice, once by get a room for $257.01 and once by wakulla $180.08. (How can the rate be $76.93 higher booking through get a room?). I immediately called get a room. After calling and explaining the situation, i was put in touch with escalations department. I again explained that i was doubled billed. After having to send proof to get a room that i was charged by wakulla, i was sent an email informing me they received my receipt/proof and they will provide me an update soon. Get a room offered me $20.00 for my troubles. They deposited $20.00 into my account.
Today i called and spoke with customer care. He stated that i agreed to the $20.00 in lei of receiving a refund... Hello... That's the craziest thing i've ever heard of. I demanded to speak with a supervisor. Again.. I got the run around. They stated no supervisor answered the phone, so i can hang up and call back or reply to the email i received almost 3-4 weeks ago.

Charging in us currency for a canadian and a room in canada
When I booked a room in Yorkton SK in July I assumed I had reached the Days Inn booking centre. When I received my credit card statement today I was charged in US currency. I'm a Canadian and booked a room in Canada. Why would I want to pay in USD and pay 30% more? I was never asked at time of booking in which currency I wanted to pay. I didn't know thi...

I made reservation for a Motel 6 arriving 6/7/16. After arriving I canceled 1 of the 2 room I booked. I have been on the phone with them 4 times. On 6-19, the young lady said it would have to be done manually and I would received a refund in 3-5 business days to my credit card, I called back on 6/27 and said it had not shown up. The new young lady said that it had been approved on 6-/20 for refund and the ball was in my credit card's court. I called them and they had nothing. I called again today, 6/28 and the new young lady said it could take up to 30 days to post. I have just been on the computer and read all the bad reviews. I too, wish I had never used this company. I will be extremely surprised if the credit EVER shows up!

Scam alert!
I have made a reservation via Getaroom website and when I arrived at the hotel I was told that there were two reservations in my name and that I have to pay for the both of them! The hotel manager said that the only way to cancel the booking was via Getaroom so I called them right away and asked for help. They asked me to pay the hotel and promised to resolve the issues and told that later I'll get my money back. So I did as they said and paid the hotel. But unfortunately these guys scammed me and never returned my money! Stay far away from this scam organization!
Scam
Do not book on this site! I booked a room on this site and they contacted me 2 months after I booked and received a confirmation email and told me the hotel was full so they had to cancel my reservation. They had also charged my card and for over 2 thousand dollars at the time of booking. So they used my money for two months.
In the meantime the city I was traveling to had no availability due to an event there. I had spent over 6 thousand dollars on flights and tours believing I had accomodations through get a room. I ended up having to stay over 11 miles outside of the city because of their screw up.
I think they are running a scam to use people's money for months. And their customer service sucks! They are rude and trained to just say I am sorry. Nth at doesn't help the situation!
The worst experience ever. I reserved a hotel room and my chase card sent a text that my charge was declined and my card would not be charged. Unfortunately, 2 months later I noticed the charge and disputed it thru my chase credit card. Getaroom said the hotel owner said I did use my reservation. I was in the process of obtaining a passport AND spent the month of June in Hawaii and Florida. Even worse- they charged my card a total of 3 times for $981.00. I canceled my chase card and will never so business with them again. I sent documents to Chase showing A. I did not have a passport AND B. I was in clearly in Florida and Hawaii in June 2015. I hate Chase Bank and I hate Getaroom. TOTAL RIP OFFFFF
Lied about free cancellations
I have never left a review before in my life but Getaroom was beyond ridiculous! I wanted to book a room and decided to try Getaroom website, because it advertised free cancellations. So I booked my room but due to some circumstances I decided to cancel my booking, and when I contacted customer service they refused to cancel! Then I found out they had booked the room through a 3rd party, so there was nothing they could do! Absolutely terrible! Stay away from this horrible scam website!

Hotel booking
I would give this site 0 reviews if I could. I booked a hotel in December and had to cancel the reservations the bery next day. I was told that I would receive a full refund for the room. Fast forward a month later and I still haven't received the refund. It's nearly impossible to reach someone in their customer service department, and when you email them you receive a generic response that is not specific to your question. I will never ever use getaroom in the future.

Price guarantee is a scam! Valid within 24 hours only!
I booked a hotel 4 months in advance going to hong kong thinking I can get the best rate but it turns out that just after a couple of days Agoda and Booking.com and Hotel.com gave prices almost half of what Getaroom.com gave me. I was really surprised how they where able to give their clients a rate that was so far off from the competition. I tried to call them and ask them about the price guarantee and turns out that you only get 24 hours to complain. Hello it was like only a couple days after the booking and I booked the hotel 4 months in advanced! The sad part is that they would not even want to help or try to assist you in anyway. One customer representative Yvonne told me "Well you agreed on the price and we cannot do anything about it!"
Stay away from this site as Getaroom.com they are neither professional or ethical in their practice.
I hope that my little comment here can reach anyone who want to use this site to book their hotel. Read the fine line! Go for the more known site as getaroom.com does not give better price nor better customer service. Karma to Getaroom.com I hope they get back what scams they did to customers like me.

Booking for more money than was told over phone
I booked a room for Orlando Florida for 3 days. Was told by representative that the total was 118.53, but my CC was billed 150.00. Did not receive an email after the booking, until the next day when I inquired about the additional cost. Was told that that the 150.00 was what I was going to be billed. The representative told me that my cancellation date was 1-22-15 at 7pm, but when I booked it, I was told 1-24 at 11:59. The representative told me that it would take 96 hrs. for someone to listen to the original call, but that would be after the cancellation date. She than told me it could take up to 2 billing cycles to get a refund. Also, the original representative miss spelled my name, email address, and home address after I spelled all of the information. That is why I never received my conformation. DO NOT use their service, they do not do what they so they will do.
Buyer beware
I was driving late on 12/21/15. I was trying to get to a Hampton Inn in Scottsburg IN that I had stayed at before and enjoyed. I had not made a reservation because I wasn't sure I would get very far due to the weather. So at the last minute I pulled over and tapped my phone. I thought I had the link to the Hampton and called the 800 number. The woman I spoke to never told me I had reached get a room and not the Hampton reservation line. I questioned the rate but she passed everything off as just busy due to the holidays. It wasn't until I got the email confirmation that I realized what I had been talking to get a room. The bad part when I checked out of the hotel I told the staff about my experience. They showed me that get a room paid the hotel $80.00 but charged my credit card $129.00 I know the hotel taxes are in there but get a room certainly made sure they got their piece of the pie. DO NOT USE getaroom. com Call the hotel directly and ask for their best rate. I felt I had been taken advantage of and ripped off. If the rep on the phone had been honest and let me know it was a get a room and explained the charged when I questioned them I would have stopped immediately and called the hotel directly.

Hotel reservations
We booked a room thru Trip Advisor and ended up being linked to Get a room as the source of our reservation. We had never heard of them and had used Trip Advisor for years without a problem, so I never thought a thing about it. Within about 2 days we needed to change our date to a later one at the same hotel. This hotel is one that we had previously used and really liked so we knew there would be no problem changing dates, we had done it with them before when we traveled to Florida. When I called Get a Room to change dates, they said I would be cancelling so it was a fee of $150 to do so even tho we were a week away from the cut off date. I was shocked! I knew the hotel and this was never the case before. It appears that the hotel does NOT get the cancellation fee--- guess who does? And they charged more than the room would cost had I called them myself. And I didn't get my reward points for the hotel ( Holiday Inn Express) that I always get for staying there. Lesson learned No More Trip Advisor--- NEVER Get A room. It's a scam.

Cheaters!
I used this site and booked a hotel room. My booking also included breakfast and dinner. I received a confirmation email from them few minutes later. But due to some circumstances, I had to cancel my reservation. Their website states that booking can be cancelled up to a week with no penalty. I cancelled it only three days later. But then I received an email from my bank telling that my credit card was charged. I contacted Getaroom and they said the penalty was from the hotel. Then I contacted the hotel and was told that Getaroom took my money. They said I wasn't the first one who called and asked about the money. At the end I contacted my bank and they had the charge removed. I will never book through Getaroom again! They are cheaters and liars!

Do not book with this company. We were charged $50 for 2 nights over what we would have paid if we would have gone direct through the Hilton hotel. I have talked and all they can tell me it's a fee. Really? Even the people at the Hilton told me to call the Better Business Bureau! Pitiful!

IMO, this organization should be avoided at all costs. I had the same thing happen to me. I wanted to call the hotel (Hampton Inn) directly to see if they'd honor the same price as Priceline. I googled The Hampton Inn on my Smartphone, checking to make sure the web site address was actually that of the hotel chain. When I called and a foreigner answered the phone, I was suspicious and I asked specifically if this was "The Hampdon Inn's direct line." The agent told me yes and after a few more minutes, I was suspicious again because he didn't seem to know much about the property, so I asked again if I was, in fact, speaking with "the Hampton Inn" and I was reassured again. They honored the price of $107/night and I asked to make sure there weren't any add-on fees and the agent assured me there were none. When he quoted me the final price, it was $318, which didn't compute for two nights at $107 + tax. I told the agent that this didn't sound right and he assured me it was the nightly room rate plus tax and nothing else. I was suspicious, but justified the fact that this was Florida, and because Florida didn't have state income tax, maybe they taxed a high rate on their hotels. Bottom line, when I received the email confirmation, it was from GetaRoom, NOT "The Hampton Inn" as I kept asking the agent. The reservation was also deceptive because the email simply gives you the reservation number, the hotel location and the TOTAL amount charged. To get the details of the charge, you have to go to a separate link (which they're hoping you won't do) and even then, they simply have a line item called "tax recovery and service fees." In my case, this was $79.94, which included a service fee, but I had no way of knowing how much. I was obviously upset about being lied to three times by this agent, so I finally found the correct phone number for the Hampton Inn and was able to book at the same $107 rate, but the total was $252, rather than $318, so there was a $66 service fee buried in the tax charges. I tried calling GetaRoom to tell them I'm been deceived and lied to and that I was cancelling and re-booking with the hotel directly, but the phone number on the receipt was busy. 30 minutes after my initial booking, I called American Express and they assured me they'd take care of it, but just in case, upon arrival, I still had the Hampton Inn cancel my "GetaRoom" reservation. Well, this has been a nightmare. American Express still charged me for the $352 from GetARoom AND I was charged the $252 from the Hampton Inn. I called Amex and they assured me again they'd take care of it and they did delete it from my charges, however, the next month, it showed up on my bill again. Today is the THIRD time the charge has been reversed only to show up the next month. What a nightmare and all because of this DECEPTIVE COMPANY. Maybe the agent was simply a bad apple, but the fact that the website appeared to be the Hampton Inn website (it was very deceiving), I think the whole company is probably rotten. I wouldn't go near them unless you either want to pay more than you should or you want to waste a lot of time trying to get the charges reversed. I hope this info helps someone avoid a big headache!
