The Operation of Greyhound Lines
I thought, I purchased bus tickets through Greyhound Lines website as I have done many times before. It turned out to be through a 3rd party vendor (Flixbus). The bus was two hours late, and we were stranded in an empty parking lot in an unfamiliar city. We ended up getting a hotel and purchasing another bus ticket (Greyhound Lines this time). The bus was supposed to leave at 1:30pm, and it ended up being 3 hours late. When it came time for us to board the bus, there were no seats available due to a wheelchair taking up 6 seats. The only solution, the Greyhound Lines Station had at this point was to put us on the next bus, in hopes that it was running on schedule. We finally made it back to Atlanta at 12am Monday morning.
As a paying customer, this was not acceptable customer service/operation in no shape or form. How does an established corporation allow a third-party vendor sale their product through their website? Why was it okay for seats to be sectioned off when the wheelchair could have been placed under the bus and the handicap customer be seated to the front of the bus as I have seen many times in the past?

The bus almost merged into us
Bus #86931 tags- K100232 had no turn signal to indicate they needed to get over and as we were sitting directly beside them decided they needed to merge over. If we weren’t paying attention they definitely would’ve side swiped us and if the 18wheeler that was behind us was any closer they would’ve also been involved as we had to slam on breaks to not get hit by this bus. Choose better drivers because obviously the driver of this bus doesn’t pay attention to his surroundings.
Broken down twice
I scheduled a trip from Dallas to Fayetteville, AR. There was a transfer scheduled in Tulsa that was supposed to take 40 minutes. We departed at 8:15AM, then broke down in Durant, OK. It took 3.5 hours to get the replacement bus, which ended up dropping us back off at our originally “serviced bus” we made it up to McAlester, OK, only to have our bus break down again… I have no idea if I’m going to be getting to my destination tonight considering I still have 5 plus hours of driving and probably an over night layover in between.
Desired outcome: I expect a full refund, and hotel accommodations if it comes to that
Behavior towards kids traveling alone
Kids is driving from cape Town to Durban alone and this is the message I get when I trust Greyhound with kids.
Unacceptable.
"I just want everything to just be over and done worth rlly 😐
And this bus attendant is working in my nerves here
He summa ask me if i went to go smoke in the bus toilet🤦🏽♀️... i am literally a child... but yet when all the other people went to use the toilet he didnt say anything🤦🏽♀️
And when we got on the bus he said me and dillon must not sit by the nice seats... we must go upstairs and sit by the cheap seats🤦🏽♀️And he even threatened to put me off the bus if it was me
We were forced to sit upstairs
He say summa to us that the downstairs area is for old and disabled people🤦🏽♀️
My stomach isn't lekker"
Desired outcome: To be resoved and I want them to realize that they can't treat kids like that.
Charged 2 times for 1 ticket for me one way
Realized I was charged for 2 tickets for 1 trip for myself. Confirm. # [protected] & confirm. # [protected] bought 7/14/22 for trip on 7/15/22. Immediately called to talk to someone; talked to 2 agents; both told me to go on website to fill out info. I did that 7/14/22 but still have not received reply from Gteyhound. I’m retired, on fixed income, extra charge of $81.99 is significant for me. If I made a mistake, I’m sorry but I did try to correct it right after it happened. I would appreciate a refund. Sincerely, Lucinda
Desired outcome: Refund of 2nd charge of $81.99
Refund policy
I had a trip planned to move back home for 7/13/22. From Miami to Canton Ohio. Purchased my ticket days prior to get the best rate. This was the only one available that was within my budget. Unfortunately as life throws things at you unexpectedly, I could not make the trip. I tried refunding and apparently non refunds not even the day after purchasing the ticket. I tried to change the date which was told there would be a $20 fee and the prices just went up as the year went on. Customer service (if that’s what you want to call it) was not helpful at finding a solution. I couldn’t trade it for a refundable ticket it had to be the same trip and same ticket…….So needless to say i am stuck with a $160 ticket that I never used and can’t do anything about it and ended up canceling the trip altogether. Considering the state of the economy maybe they should rename their tickets because this was not economical at all…or maybe it is considering the state of our economy that’s leaving a bunch of us low on funds.. thanks Greyhound I’m without food.. not even a refund and charging me a fee was offered and i would have been happy with that…but nothing
Desired outcome: Refund

Lost luggage of disabled customer
I am a disabled person that traveled with my young daughter from Tuscaloosa Alabama on July 1,2022 to Detroit Michigan . We had one transfer in Atlanta Georgia which supposed to have left at 9:15pm we didn't leave until after 11:30pm. We were in Atlanta for 5 hours, during this transfer the driver had the guys put tickets on our luggage going to Detroit Michigan and our names. They gave my daughter the other part of the tickets for our luggage as she rolled me in the wheelchair to the priority section. They told me not to worry about the luggage that they would make sure luggage was on the bus to Detroit. We arrived in Detroit Michigan around 4:30pm on July 2, 2022, we waited until they unloaded the bus and discovered that our fusion set luggage was not on the bus.
We then was asked to fill out a slip with our name ,phone number and the numbers on the luggage slips and that we would get a call back at 11 before baggage guy left shift. He didn't call but I called , luggage was still not there. I also was told to go to greyhound website and put a lost luggage complaint. I did that added name, phone number, confirmation of trip and luggage identification, with the numbers off the slips the baggage guys gave to us in Atlanta Georgia.
I have called all the numbers to Detroit Michigan and Atlanta Georgia greyhound. The numbers either get redirected for me to buy a ticket or its busy. I can't get in touch with anyone in Atlanta or Detroit that can help me.
I have important medical papers in my luggage that I need a Doctor to look at to help me. So far my daughter and I have been without our clothes and things for over a week. I was told that in 72hrs someone would contact me buts its been over a week and no online contact or Calls.
My email is [protected]@gmail.com. My Luggage needs to be in Detroit Michigan
Desired outcome: I would like them to actually look for our luggage and return it to me.
Seating
We booked 3 seats And upon entering the bus the bus is heated n filled 1/2 it capacity
We had then asked a passenger to accommodate us she willingly
Moved
And upon moving the gentleman went to look for his daughter who was seated upstairs he brought her downstairs n demanded the seat now seating with an autistic child with his perents separation build his axiety
If I thought humailtion n disrespect was sought on this bus I would have never booked
The staff members never even want to liaise n deal with the problem
This causing a huge fight amongst me n my husband
Had I known my small request was not able to be filled I would have booked flights
Desired outcome: Please refund child seat as he now sitting on our lap
Lost luggage
I traveled from Kentucky to Arizona and one of my luggage was lost. Greyhound had been giving me the run around every time I finally get to talk to someone I get a number to call that either hangs up on you or a number that doesn't work. I have filed 5 complaints online and have not heard back from anyone yet. I had some very valuable things in my bag and I have been treated poorly and have not been help. This is unacceptable
Travel Interrupted... Waiting, Waiting Abandoned at station in Cleveland Ohio, enroute DC
I left Dallas via Amtrak to Chicago on Tuesday, there for the long weekend. I arrived in Chicago after I were told there wasn't travel available till the 12th at reasonable cost on to DC. I decided to continue to DC to retrieve important mail via Greyhound. The bus ride of less of 19 hours compared to 29 hours, were the next morning for $99, which I paid at Union Station Wednesday night...I walked to Greyhound and waited till 7am to leave.
The bus were to be serviced in Cleveland, then reboard, and continue on to DC, arriving at 3 am Friday. There wasn't a reboard because there wasn't a driver available.
I were promised accommodations to rest and continued travel on Friday to DC, same bus #1636 at 4:40pm. Travel thru new york with multiple changes were not what i wanted, I'm stressed and can't afford the hassle. I do not want to take a flight, I'm having corruption issues of plunders, usurpers, loss of privacy and sharing... A step ahead in fraudulent and framing, identity crimes of switch up. It is almost 11pm, I am still waiting.
I am yet waiting...
What's going on? I overheard some were allowed travel on another bus, I were asked about Pittsburgh, that's not where I need to be.
July 4th week...Friday 8th.
Desired outcome: None yet...
I need to travel on to dc asap...I prefer not to fly. What is your policy, what are your procedures? How do you usually compensate for inconvenience and loss of sleep, time of a business day planned... Anxiety, frustration?
Find other means get get there if need be, at your expense...Greyhound!

Reckless driving and terrifying experience - driver must be stopped putting lives in danger!!!
Date 5/6/2022
Memphis to Nashville
ticket number [protected]
Departure time 5.25 from Memphis
THIS DRIVER MUST BE STOPPED - PUTTING LIVES IN DANGER !
Hi, my name is Katy Flay and I am lodging a formal complaint about your driver and your service standards. I was scheduled to leave Memphis at 5.25 last night (5 July), the bus departed half an hour late but I thought, okay, fine. When I got on the bus it smelled really bad, and the toilet was not flushing. The smell was making myself and other passengers feel sick, so much so that passengers refused to use the last two seats at the back of the bus next to the toilet. We departed half an hour late, as soon as we were on the road the driver announced a cig break which I thought strange given we had just got on the road but okay. Once stopped the driver said we had to all get off the bus as it had broken down, this caused a lot of panic and disruption. The bus eventually started but people were frightened not just about the fact that the bus had broken down and had no petrol, it was the driver's erratic behavior. The second announcement came about 20 minutes after the last one from the driver to say that he had to make a stop because he was running out of petrol as mentioned. The driver took us to a second petrol station where he said he was getting fuel, confused, I wondered why the bus was still running for 45 minutes with no driver - i did not see the driver fill up for fuel. When he eventually returned, I asked him when we might be leaving as I had to check in for my hotel and was running really late - he looked at me like he wanted to hit me and just grunted and walked away. I was very frightened at this stage. When the bus set off, the driver did not make any announcement; he just drove off for what seemed to be a rage about something. We were all scared. Night fell and the driver refused to communicate with the people on the bus as there were concerns. At this stage the driver began to drive what I can only describe as erratic, reckless and under the influence of drugs or alcohol. I had a window seat and witnessed him cutting up cars in lanes, over taking large trucks with only an inch or two between trucks and swaying into two motorway lanes. The women at the side of me were crying and the two men behind me were both asking the driver to please slow down and drive carefully. At one point I closed my eyes and put on my seat belt and accepted that we were going to crash, my family flashed before my eyes and tears began to roll down my face. At this stage people were screaming at the driver who was non responsive and driving like a maniac. No one knew why, and from speaking to him myself it was obvious he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We approached Nashville and I thought he was going to have to slow down as we were entering a city and residential areas, but he did not. He took one corner too quickly and curbed the bus which nearly toppled over. I was in a state at this stage and fearing for my life and for the lives of the people around me. We raced up to the bus terminal and abruptly stopped. THe driver got out and went into the building and left the doors open, no one knew where he went. Passengers that had an ongoing stop past Nashville refused to get back on the bus as they feared for their lives. I arrived at my hotel at 11.45 - over two hours late, shaking and crying. I have not slept because I have PTSD. I am exhausted. I am lodging this complaint to the highest of boards as this driver is seriously endangering people's lives, not just passengers but people on the road driving and MUST be stopped! At the least I demand a full REFUND and REVIEW or the driver's performance immediately. My email is [protected]@gmail.com. This driver must be held accountable for his reckless behavior and driving before he kills someone. Please action this email immediately. Regards, Katy Flay
Desired outcome: Driver must be stopped, full refund of fare and compensation required
Handicap services not provided
July 5, 2022
(Dates of incident July 2/3rd, 2022)
My travel destination was from Bowling Green Kentucky to Cleveland Ohio.
I am handicapped; I have a prosthetic leg. I've asked for assistance with my bag, no one helped, for starters. Once I got onto the bus, myself & three other people weren't provided a seat. After I asked a few people if they would move out of the handicap seat, they refused. Some travelers had personal items on the seats that refused to move the bags. I approached the driver of the bus & he told me that it wasn't his problem. After HOURS of standing, a older lady moved her bag to allow me to sit toward the ending of my travels. By the time I got off the bus to my final destination, the stump of my leg was so swollen & painful, once I took my prosthetic off & could not get it back on. I'm in extreme pain. I have to be seen by a doctor now. Your company failure to provide services for a handicap person, after asking for assistance. American disabilities rights have been violated in every way. Your company provided me with no accommodations at the bus station or on the greyhound bus at all.
Desired outcome: Complete refund of travel expenses. Medical bills. Maybe more
Complaint
Greyhound bus was suppose to depart from Cradock at 19:00 on the 2nd July 2022, until now we have been waiting at the garage. Its not safe, I had to do several calls for them to sent an update of the delay with no specific time. They lied saying the bus will arrive at 00:30 from the call I made as they had to get another bus to replace the scheduled bus and the bus was already on the way from Port Elizabeth, on another call they said its approaching Cookhouse which is 78.8 Km... That was around 00:30... I made another call and they said its going to arrive in 30 minutes which have lapsed and now they are not even picking my phone. Its not safe here there are boys that are drunk and the garage its not even operational..
This is a risk at a very high level, using my own money to phone to get updates and immediately after a call they will send those generic messages saying they apologize for an inconvenience... Now for them to even ignore my calls... Its just unacceptable and selfish of them... My battery for the phone is even about to die...
I wish as they are doing their business peoples lives and safety should also matter. Please note its 4:02 AM still waiting for bus
Desired outcome: To be reimbursed of my money i used for the calls and greyhound to improve its services and care for people's lives. Provide the services clients have paid for and take responsibility for not keeping your services
Arrival Date/Time Delayed 35+ Hours
COMPAINT
2ND NOTICE Tuesday June 28, 2022
On May 31, 2022, approximately 1820, I, Titus Whitelow purchased a greyhound ticket for Damon Parham from Milwaukee. WI 1305 hours, June 1, 2022, to Phoenix, AZ 0640 hours for $268. Which, they failed to enter the correct name, Damon Parham, a the passenger. Also, I was coerced into accepting additional charges for that name correction.
Parham's greyhound trip was delayed in Chicago, St. Louis and Memphis. Each delay ranging from 4 to 24 hours. Parham didn't arrive until 0005 hours, June 5, 2022. An unacceptable and unexcusable 35 hours and 35 mins delay.
On June 6, 2022, approximately 0900 hours I contacted a greyhound customer service representative about the issue described above and she informed me that since my ticket was not refundable I would not be receiving a refund for the 35+ hours delay.
Desired outcome: To be refunded the sum total of $288.

Buses are a no show
On may 26th 2022, I had a ticket to travel from Roanoke , Virginia to Richmond, Virginia, after paying 90 dollars in taxi fare to get to the Roanoke bus stop, the bus never came and I called customer service only to be lied to over and over . I waited 8 hours because I had an appointment early the next day with no proper communication or notice. Eventually customer service finally admitted that the bus is not coming. I have attempted to get a refund and I keep hearing nothing back. Today, June 25th, I had a ticket from Roanoke to Richmond. I had to get a taxi that cost 115 dollars to get to the Roanoke bus at 5am for my bus. I have been waiting for 7 hours and again the bus is a no show. I want greyhound to refund my two tickets and compensate me for my cab fares. I am missing my appointment yet again. At this rate, this is becoming a scam.
Desired outcome: Refund and compensation
Lost suitcase
Greyhound lost our suitcase and absolutely no help or customer service from any of the many phone numbers I have tried to call. A claim was filed on line with no response except to say they will look for it. The tracer # for the online file is [protected]. The schedule # for this bus was 1683 going to Las Vegas. This happened this happened almost 4 weeks ago and NO WORD FROM ANYONE. Every call made I was told to call another phone number then the last person I talked to said I couldn't talk to anyone, that I needed to email Greyhound. Please just find someone to help locate this suitcase.

Refund of ticket price
I think it is terrible that Greyhound will not refund ticket price unless you buy a certain ticket which costs more. I’m sure trains and airlines don’t do this. Boo to Greyhound. Boo. DO NOT USE THEM
I bought my sister a ticket 6/20/22. She changed her mind as she decided to take her dog. I cancelled the same day. It was 197.00 as I bought the middle range ticket. I want my money back. A mad customer
Desired outcome: I want my money back
Abandonment of disabled senior citizen due to cancelled bus and no replacement
On April 21, 2022, I had a prepaid ticket (confirmation number [protected]) to go from Vallejo, CA to Reno, NV. The greyhound bus,was supposed to pick me up at 5:10 p.m., but it never came and left me, a disabled senior citizen, stranded.
At around 4:50 a Greyhound bus arrived and I tried to board, but the driver told me that he wasn't my driver and to wait for my 5:10 bus. I waited and after 5:10, I started worrying. So, I called the Greyhound number and asked for an eta. They repeatedly told me that if I missed my bus, I could just buy a new ticket the next day and pay the difference in cost. I repeatedly told them that I didn't miss my bus. It never came. Usually, they'd just hang up on me, or say that there wasn't anything they could do. I repeatedly told them that I was a disabled senior citizen and they couldn't leave me stranded out in the elements.
I told them that I was a disabled senior citizen and would need accommodations for the night if the bus was cancelled. They kept giving me the runaround about the bus just being a little late, when I called back every few minutes. Finally, at 6:31, I found out the bus had been cancelled and there would be no bus until 5:10 the next day. I told them my location and that I was a disabled senior citizen and stranded in a strange town, with no accommodations.
I couldn't get a cab to that area of town, but was able to catch the last bus out to a distant motel. Unfortunately, I still had to walk about a mile, dragging my suitcase behind me. My COPD was causing problems and I blew out my knee during the walk. Now, I need a TKR and am practically housebound.
Desired outcome: Reimburse all medical expenses including TKR, as well as pain and suffering. Possibly, punitive damages, due to violations of federal law.
