I don't like your services cos I never joined your gym but you keep deducting money from my account and when I went to maponya mall to close the account they told me I'm owing R1500 in November and surely now I owe you guys like maybe 2k but the last time I checked it was R1500. I can't deal with such corruption really. Please close the account and leave me alone.

hi, i joined the gym on the 11th of JUNE and i was told that the first month its free then i would confirm wether to join after or not, i only went there for 3 days then i was away travelling then i received a call that i should come and confirm, so i did go there on the 28th of JUNE and tell them that i will no longer join i wish to cancel but now they are telling me about the cansellation fee of R1200, I don't its fair cause i'm only a student please do something about this i don't have money to pay up that cancelation fee and they also confirmed my membership without my concern.

I'm a student staying at Durban and was recruited by some guys who work at the Gym Company at Davenport Centre and they gave me false information. I was told to sign up and I asked that if I do not attend the gym are they still going to deposit money from my bank account and the guy said no because I will not be having a membership card. because of too much school work i do not go to gym and i do not have their membership card yet they are depositing R400 every month from my bank account.
I tried calling the company but the lady who responded gave me a bad attitude and told me that I should pay R2300 for the termination of the contract. I do not know where she expects me to get that kind of an amount hence I'm a student.

When I signed the contract I was told I can freeze my account for R50 whenever I need to, now that I want to do that they told me I can't if I didn't give them.a 30days notice, I understand that but I don't know why they won't allow me to cancel my membership because I can't afford it anymore, I specifically told them that I am a student and I am not working I don't know how I am expected to.pay for something I can no longer afford .I am basically forced to stay at the gym and I honestly can't.

I am writing this complaint with great disatification to the Gym Company.
I am not a customer that usually goes online to file a complaint or go to the extent of searching for an online place to complain however with no working telephonic lines and having to call several different branches in other cities to get a working durban number has been near impossible. several 086 and a 031 number have been given to me but yet these numbers do not exist. As a paying member to these gym, I am not pleased you have not updated your webpage with a working phone line for members to reach you!
My main complaint stems from the actual facillities and hygiene of your Gym in the Musgrave Berea Branch and I am willing to go as far as to cancel and terminate my contract with immediate effect.
I have taken photos last year and logged a complaint on particular issues that need to be addressed in order to maintain members like me that appreciate a clean environment that is orderly and respectable.
My complaint was swept under the carpet and not seen to and those issues are still evident.
My reason for not returning this year.
I will be coming through to take this up with the board or managers on duty at the branch.

I started at your gym at bracken city in november.. All was well until I decided to stop going.. I haven't been there the whole of december or this month (january).. I also have been trying to get hold of you people but the phones are either just ringing or it's engaged... I just bought a washing machine which is now costing me almost r2000 a month... All I asked is to put my account on hold until it is paid off... I haven't been to gym for 2 months, if I ask you to send my money back then that is exactly what you will do! You took my rent money, and I am seriously *ed! I will now be out on the streets because of you! Send my money back or pay my rent, your choice! But I better see my money by monday or I will take action! Don't * me off even more! I told 4 friends about you and 3 of them wanted to start there this weekend.. After I told them what happened, neither of them decided to join anymore, and decided to go to another gym... I can easily turn away more members! I am not able to meet my gym membership fees any longer and which to cancel my contract. I am permitted to do so in terms of section 14 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. I hereby give you 20 days' notice of my contract to be cancelled. My last debit order to be deducted end of February 2019. I am cancelling my contract as allowed per law and you are hereby given the 20 days notice required. Please cancel my membership accordingly.

I was at the Joburg CBD when i signed up for the free membership trial for 2 months and the consultant that assisted me said if I'm not happy then I can cancel the membership.To my surprise I was debited R199 and I did not attend the gym.I have called the head office and I was told that I can only cancel the membership once I have paid the due amount. How do I pay for a service I have not rendered?I want this sorted as I do not even have a tag.

I have been and am still trying to cancel my membership since September 2018 with the Randburg branch!
I called the branch and was told that I would have to come in and do it but only at times suitable for them (8 to 3pm). I told them I work during those hours and I have moved to Fourways now so it will be difficult. I asked about a Saturday and they said no one for cancellation works on that day.
My husband then took time off and went for me and they said that he wont be able to cancel for me.
He called again and then someone said we could just eft the cancellation fee and they would send a email with details...no email as yet.
He then went again to the branch and the lady agreed on an appointment for that Saturday at 10am (12/01/2019). We then drive all the way to Randburg only to find out that she wasn't coming in. I was furious.
I am still paying membership for a gym I don't even live close enough too to even use.
I just want to cancel my membership.

I have been requesting to cancel my gym membership since April 2018 when it expired. To date no one has been able to help me, all they do is debit my account on a monthly basis of which I reverse with the bank.
They tell me to pay a R199 fee in order for my contract to be cancelled but yet the debit 2 amounts of R199 and R99 off of my bank account.

Good day, on the 11th of May while Bara Mall I was approached by a gentleman (Malcolm). He asked to give me a pamphlet I said no. He said take it and you can give to someone else. Then he carried on to tell me about the free trial that you are having two months (end of June) free and if unhappy I can cancel at anytime. So he proceeded to ask for my details which I gave him. As we were busy I asked him several times that giving you my id and account number like this for a free trial won't hold me liable to anything he said yes. Then I asked to read the conditions in front before signing he said no just sign you will read them when you are home. He then proceed to right numbers down including a 36. I'm guessing that's the period of the contract if I choose to continue. However the problem was I mentioned to him several times that I'm a student at UJ and we have a gym for far cheaper and I don't need any travel money. He said no it's just for the trial.
Everytime I tried to cancel the cancellation fees would be different. Now this one time as well they debited two different amounts without saying anything to me. On the 17th I made the first call to try and cancel the said they need a fee of R3000. I kept making enquiries. A lady then called me to say they want to set a meeting date with me, but never called or responded to me ever after that. I then called again now I was told the cancellation fee is R1400. The first debit was made on the 20th of June whereas I was still in the supposed two month trial.
"So basically because of the affordability I would like to cancel this free trial. The means to pay for the gym are not there as I'm a student." Was what I sent to them.

We queried about signing up at approximately 18:00 on the 2018-11-07 at the Bromhof branch and were told that the membership fee was R299 per month each.
We then decided to proceed with the sign up for two adults. After completing most of the form, we were told of a signup
fee R399 each, which was not previously disclosed. I then asked the representative what are all the amounts that I must pay were.
Which she confirmed as being the (R299 + R399) each. We decided to proceed anyway. When the form was completed, we were directed to the
front to make payment where we agreed to pay the first month membership at the same time. We were then told of the R150 each tag fee. We made a card payment of R1596.00 upfront which was apparently the full amount due. (Please note that the above does not add up to the amount paid either)
On the 2018-11-15, during the afternoon, I was contacted by an admin lady to confirm the details on the form. I was then informed that I will
need to pay an additional R300+ Rand per contract for an annual maintenance or some such fee as well. I advised her that I was not informed about this and therefore
was not interested in proceeding. I was told that unfortunate the 7 days cooling off period has expired and I had no choice but to pay. I refused and
was quickly put through to the manager, who did not understand the situation completely and advised that would arrange for the rep to wait until I
arrived that evening, so she could explain what was going on. I arrived at 17:30 and asked to see the manager, but he had already left.
Another gentleman took over from the ladies at the counter, to whom I again explained the situation to again. I produced the only evidence I had, which were the receipts issued at the time of payment. No-one could understand where this other fee had come from and why it was suddenly due and
the rep was nowhere to be found. After some time the rep arrived very quietly to join the conversation. She too claimed she did not know of any annual fee that had to be paid. After advising them that this is a matter of fraud. They quickly discovered that the manager had told the admin and rep to cancel the contract and that the papers had been already prepared and left for us. After much searching the papers were apparently found but the rep complained that she was loosing another contact and that there was no profiles setup on the system as yet. On request of the papers they could
produce such and in-fact no papers were not found and therefore another lie had been told. We advised that this was more false information given to defraud the client and left.
Unfortunately it seems that you cannot trust The Gym Company or its staff. We now have no choice but to take legal action against them.

I Joined GYM COMPANY on the 8th of october then on the day i signed the contract i was never told about a cancellation fee and he told me that i will only start paying on the 30 november 2018 as they have a special this month then i signed the contrat then on the 31 october 2018 early hours of the morning i get a message from nedbank that a debit order from gym company was made but it bounced as of i had insufficient funds .then i visited their office on friday the 2nd of november to submitt my complaint then they said they would call me back on monday the 5th but untill today i have not had any response from them and this is unethical behaviour and this company is having alot of problems with their clients.

I joined Doorfontein's Gym Company in August...When I joined the Gym Company I made it clear to the consultant that I might relocate... they told me it's fine they are going to cancel or transfer my membership(without any penalty)... now they want me to pay R1400... that's ridiculous... where am I supposed to get that kind of money... I can't even transfer my membership to another branch, because I'm relocating to Eastern Cape. At Eastern Cape there is no Gym Company... I won't pay for services I won't use.😟
The exact same thing happened to me. When I tried to explain to them that I really have to cancel my membership, the lady told me I have to pay R2000 an something. Mind you I'm only 19 years old. Where does she expect me to get R2000 cash. She told me there is no payment plan and I have to pay it upfront for my membership to be cancelled. I curse the day I even heard of this gym. health and safety : air conditioning
Both my parents attend the Ormonde Gym Company Branch. they have been consistently complaining about shortness of breath when at the gym and lack of air. I decided to call the manager of the branch who advised me that they switch off the air-conditioning system because some of their member's don't prefer it and feel cold therefore they also have to close the door due to this. Firstly this should not be about selected members preferences or the staff for that matter do feel cold. This is about complying to the health and safety regulations and legislations and in specific to a gym. The regulations specify exact temperatures at 20 degrees Celsius. This is vital for the health of people training with regards to proper air flow, comfortable temperature to be able to train and breathe easily and not forgetting from a hygienic perspective. The manager had a very snotty attitude and telling me that im the only person to complain, I asked him he understands or takes into consideration the regulations in this regards and he does not seem to take this seriously. This is a serious breach of the health, safety and hygiene regulations. I ask that this be investigated immediately with rectification and feedback or I will have no option but to consult the heath and safety department on this matter.

I tried since Feb 2018 to sort out my membership due to my move to Carletonville, Gauteng near Potchefstroom.
In between I had an old work college use my gym tag without me knowing and I tried to stop my tag as well.
I have chatted to every department at your gym and to a few other gym companies as well.
I tried changing my debit date due to the new job paying later, but after doing this twice it still does not go off on the correct dates. I am now in arrears and Ive waiting a long time to resolve this. I have never experienced something like this before and its really astonishing how difficult it is to sort any admin out at your gym. It took me 5 m in to sign up and join but months to try and sort out a date of debit. Your systems also require some sort of servicing because the system is offline and I will phone you as soon as we are back online was used on me more than twice.
Please assist me with an amount and banking details to sort this out ASAP.
I would appreciate a discount as well so I can pay today still.
I understand I signed a contract and cannot just cancel because Im moving to an area without a gym. But why then not assist me in changing debit, or cancel a stolen tag. Or cancel my membership the right way then ?

I have now not been a member of this ridiculous gym for 2 years, but still there is a deduction that goes off my account every so often. I have reversed and tried to stop it at my bank, but they seem to change the reference which therefore bypasses whatever the bank has placed. IF THIS CONTINUES, I will be taking this gym to small claims court.

On the 20th of August 2018, I was approached by an employee from gym company at Maponya mall. He told me that they had a special, where you join gym and gym with a partner for a month. He also told me that if I happened to change my mind before the end of the month, they will just cancel without any penalties.
Today I call in at Maponya, the agent says there is no such. Basically, she is telling me that her colleague lied to me. If they don't do something about this, I don't see gym lasting.

Goodday I was approached by one consultant at Hillbrow and they said they are registering people who wants to join gym, he explained that even though you want to pay cash, your account details are needed.
I am a student currently studying and I haven't gone to gym after I signed the form as I am.staying at Res and no gym company there. After months am receiving messages and calls that I must pay to avoid negative credit?I made phone calls they kept escalating the phone, I then traveled to Doornfontein and explained my story but they insisted I pay as I violated the rules even thou the consultant becet explained, I asked them to check if I clogged to the gym but they refused. I sent an email to directors and got no response and even today I got the message. Am worried I will have negative credit at a young age while am still studying.
If I knew the consequences of signing the form without understanding the terms and conditions I wouldn't have signed it.He even explained I only pay whenever am available to gym, if you are not attending it is pointless to pay.
Now I don't know what to do as I keep getting the message.
