unethical behaviour!
Dear Sir or Ma'am,
On [protected] I was checking out and an employee told me that the item I thought was on sale at 50% off (collage frame) was actually not however, I could use my 40% off coupon on it, I said ok. This frame was for my sister (cost $44.93)
After I finished with that order I started with my second order then upon checkout I presented her with another coupon that my mother behind me had just given me to use. The employee told me I could not use it
and the reason behind it. I then told her I would not have used the coupon
on the collage frame. I then paid and put my items in my buggy. I then got back in line at another line was going to checking out (Yes I was going to use coupon) When the cashier from the first time (Kay) starting hollering at me and telling the other cashier YOU CAN'T use that coupon I told you can't use that coupon!
I was so ashamed and upset by this person, the customers in the store at check started to look at me as though I had stolen something. I then went back to her line because it was the return line. I told her that I just wanted to return everything! She then told the other cashier to check
me out using the coupon this one time. The other cashier lady
asked me if I wanted to speak to a manager. I said no, I was almost in tears due to embarrassment and humiliation.
Then Kay stated over approx. (8) times in an extremely rude manner " she could not do this she could loose her job." Still embarrassing me even more, I left the store.
The more I thought about it the more it bothered me, so I called the store and explained the problem I had. She stated she would talk with staff.
I did not feel they took me serious . I then returned to the store, talked with a manager and returned items. I am Extremely disappointed with the unprofessional customer service in this store!
By the way the coupon would have saved about $ 3.00, I returned $44.93 one entire purchase and $85.00 the other entire purchase.

hiring practices
I have been in the new Hobby Lobby in Los Banos, CA three times. After the first time I looked around and paid more attention and have yet to see someone who does not look white or mexican working there. I know for a fact that there were African Americans at thier job fair so considering they were suppose to hire 50 people they were obviously hiring with a preference. Not sure if this complainzt board will investigate this but too often this goes unchecked.
management
We are so happy on our new store in Los Banos. I just have a complaint on the manager. He is very rude and very unprofessional with his employees. I not would want the store to close because of his poor skills and employees quitting. I think upper management should investigate this closer. He has worked in Los Banos prior and he was horrible manager then.
employment
Dear Hobby Lobby CEO,
I want to tell you a story about how your corporation has affected my family. When we got the word that a Hobby Lobby store was opening up in our little city of Palm Coast, we became excited. It was promising to see a Christian organization that shared our values opening as a local business in our community. We became even more thrilled when we learned about job opportunities being offered to our residents. You see, my husband’s job was about to end. He was working as a parent coordinator to parents of children who have been deemed “at risk”. The position he held was grant funded and those funds were ending. His dream has been to work in ministry. As a matter of fact, he also runs a nonprofit ministry/thrift store designed to help the community. Unfortunately, the shop doesn’t bring in very much money. As a matter of fact, anyone who works there does so as a volunteer. Most times, he’s just trying to keep the doors open so he can help those who come in looking for assistance. He had been on the hunt for a job and the timing of your store opening seemed perfect. My husband and I prayed to God that His Will would be done. He went to the job fair and was offered a ‘temporary with the possibility of becoming permanent’ position with Hobby Lobby. His job was to help prepare the store for opening day. We were so excited for this opportunity. We had prayed so hard and it seemed God was finally answering our prayers.
Before his first day, we prayed and felt God say, if Mike (my husband) worked hard and showed enough effort, God would honor that with a permanent position. Each day Mike went to work with a cheerful mind and having new hope for this opportunity that had been afforded to him. After three weeks of hard, butt busting work, the store opened and Mike was one of the few employees that lasted to the opening day. We honestly believed he had made it. He was finally seeing the fruits of his labor come to fruition. That is, until, about a week after the store opened. Mike went to work to check the schedule and noticed he’d only been given one day of work for four hours. As he looked around the room he noticed other employees checking their schedules and crying. They were devastated because they’d all worked so hard and they honestly thought they were being kept permanently. Furthermore, there were some employees who had one or two days (12 hours maximum) while others were being given 30-40 hours. Please understand, I realize you have a business to run and not everyone can be offered full time employment however, I think it’s unfair to schedule individuals for only 4-8 hours each week. No one can survive on that kind of income. Additionally, there are plenty of studies showing a link between successful corporations and valued/happy employees. I’d never suggest you reward employees who don’t work hard or don’t do a good job. I’m someone who believes in the value of work ethic. I believe you get ahead by working hard and going above and beyond. However, I believe your store in Palm Coast just isn’t operating correctly when it comes to valuing their employees.
Each week Mike goes in and checks the schedule hoping for more hours to support our family and each week he comes home having a maximum of 10-12 hours for the pay period. We pray diligently and constantly for God to open and close the doors He feels are best suited for Mike. I have watched him do anything and everything he can to be a good, hardworking employee. I’ve watched him go above and beyond every single day while trusting that God has a plan for all of this. Finally, I’ve watched him come home looking like the wind was taken from his sails and feeling defeated. He has applied for job after job after job and nothing has opened in our favor. And truthfully, he enjoys working at Hobby Lobby. He just needs more hours.
Now, you don’t know my husband but let me tell you, he is a walking talking breathing miracle of God. He was struck by a drunk driver at 8 years old. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was in a coma. His mother was told he may not survive and if she believed in God, she should pray. She had the whole county praying for my husband and miraculously, he survived. Not only did he survive, but he surpassed their expectations. Now, he has suffered some lasting effects from his accident. He has a mild case of Tourette’s syndrome, ADD, OCD, and some issues commonly related to those who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. Despite all of these things, he has always been one to rise above and show others how God’s Grace has brought him through these trials. He has never used his accident as an excuse for anything. He has a great appreciation and understanding for how God works. Honestly, he has more faith than anyone I’ve ever met. He gets up each day, thanks God for the life he has been given, and steps out in faith showing the love of Jesus to those he meets.
I’m not asking for anything in particular. I’m just sending you this because I’m a wife who has watched my husband break down with disappointment and there’s nothing I can do to help him. He has gone to the manager and asked for more hours, he’s let them know he’s willing to come in any time and day, he’s applied at other places despite being happy to be part of the Hobby Lobby family, and he has handed this over to God in hopes that somehow, some way His plan will shine through all of this. I guess I just felt led to send this to you in hopes there’s something you can do.
Sincerely,
Angela, wife of Mike.

cashiers
I help set & open our local Hobby Lobby and worked for them for 13 months until I couldn't take it any longer. May I state that we were tasked with world class customer service, knowing the ads every week, among other things. We would get written up if we made errors on the registers. When I was finally lucky enough to get another job, I've had the opportunity to go back a few times to shop. So far, EACH time I've gone in, with different cashiers, they've ALWAYS missed giving me a discount on an ad item I'm buying. Since we were tasked with 100% accuracy on the registers when I worked there, I assume(d) this would still be the case and never thought to check my receipt until after I've gotten home of course! Ugh...so twice bitten - are they getting any training? I know when I worked there any newbies coming in got zilch for training, so I guess it's just SOP again. Very frustrating! Buyers beware!
full time employee schedules
My spouse works for Hobby Lobby full time in Cincinnati. Their schedule changes from week to week. One week they close once, the next they may close 3 times. Makes things very difficult to schedule anything family related. It makes no sense to me why full time employees should have such random schedules.
other
I am (as many, many, many others in area) are totally devastated your store will be closing next Friday. I go in your store to shop at least 4 times a month..more during any holiday (I am a crafter and I shop for decor and gifts) and I always leave with a cartfull plus every single time I am in store there are lines and they have to open numerous checkouts to check everyone out in a timely manner. The lot always has cars in it. There is absolutely NO store like this anywhere near..no craft and art supply, no sewing, no decorating. We all just hope you open another store in this area right away. PLEASE. The nearest one is a distance away. There are things in store you could elimate that don't sell to help you downsize and possibly open a smaller version like a new type smaller store with a catchy name. Please think twice.
staff
So I have been working with the Hobby Lobby in my town since store set up which has been great. I love my job and I loved everyone there until we had to get a new Co-Manager. Now I know that I will not like everyone I meet but this woman had it out for me. Anytime I was taking a breath after a rush of checking people out she would have me doing something else and saying under her breath how lazy I was. Then after several weeks of this I slipped up and mentioned to a co-worker that she had cut my hours as well as a fellow coworkers after we had arrived for the like I was to clock in at 11 but she had me wait until almost 2 to clock in. I was just talking to the fellow employee when she took me aside and embarrassed me in front of customers and the fellow coworker saying I needed to mind my business and that let her be the manager. Later I have a runny nose she told me to stop crying and get over that I was in trouble. I had done nothing but express that I did not like that I had already drove to work (45min) and then was told I would not clock in until almost 2. She is horrid and is still working here.

I worked for this company for 15 yrs, as of Jun 2015. I left that store in September 2015, and never never received recognization for my service! Never trust anyone that uses their religious beliefs for profit! Elaine Klotz store 181 Michigan City, IN
abusive boss
On Tuesday, November 17th, 2015, I tried to report a coworker Kenneth Daughtery for refusing to listen to me on many things, we are both stockman at a Hobby Lobby and he doesn't listen to me about anything, I always tell him how to do things but he insists on doing things his way, thinking his way is better when it's not, I he talks to me like I'm stupid...

On November 3, 1015 I purchased Brach's peanut clusters from a Hobby Lobby store @ 4701 FM 1960 in Houston, Texas 77069. The product was very stale the chocolate was full of that white dusty stuff you find on chocolate candy when its stale. I tried a piece anyway just to see if it was really as bad as it looked and it was. My desire is to receive a fresh bag of the same product as it is very hard to find in my area. Thank you.
rude and impolite employer, who doesn't speak properly with customers
We recently went to the store Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. We bought different craft for my daughter, because she started new program in art school. There were a lot of items and craft, but we haven’t found necessary glue and clay. We asked the employer and the young lady aggressively told us that she didn’t know. My daughter is small, but she understood that the lady was rude and angry. Unpleasant attitude.
problem with coworkers
I've been working at Hobby Lobby for almost five years as a Stockmen and I've had people who worked with me there that have said or done something to me that was considered bullying or belittling or condescending towards me sometimes. Now I know that no one likes to report someone who works there and we all need a job to make a living, we need to abide by the rules and laws of the job and the rules and laws of society but when someone breaks those rules, we know that's wrong. Now I feel like I've reached my limit to what is bothering me. I really hate to report people because I'm afraid that either no one will believe me or that they will only hear and believe the other person's side of things and not mine.
I'm a part time worker there and I'm mildly learning disabled so it takes me a bit longer to learn new things and get the hang of new things. Working there is now making me worry that it could happen again. I know most of the workers there who have been working there as long as I have or longer and they're nice people but right now, I got a problem with these two workers there.
This happened to me before but now, this one incident is making me want something done about it. It was September 15, 2015 and there's this one worker Kenneth that has me worrying, he sometimes asked me personal questions. He asked me why I only work one day a week there and it felt like a personal question and sometimes when asked me such questions, if I didn't tell him, it feels like he would badger me a little for an answer and when I told him subtly that I'm kind of learning disabled he figured at first that everyone has their flaws but when I told him that there's something in the bailer that he shouldn't put in there just so he knows what to put in and what not to put in, he said to me "You don't have no disability" when he did not know that it wasn't a disability that was that severe, what he said hurt. Sometimes I tell him how we do things at work when we're doing something like emptying the bailer or stacking repacks and he keeps on wanting to do it his way when I keep telling him how we do it but he doesn't listen to me sometimes.
Than there was the next thing that happened, some boxes that were on the floor made one of our workers slip and fall on the floor but she was an older female worker who works in the Fabric Department and when she fell, I offered to help her but she told me to not bother her and than two other workers came over to help her up, she was okay afterwards but she wouldn't have fallen if Kenneth didn't keep the boxes all over the floor that way and when I went to tell him that we need to keep the floor clear of any boxes so this wouldn't happen again, he placed the blame on me but I didn't put the boxes all over the floor like that, he did and he told me not to do it but I didn't do it, he did. As for the female worker, I gave her advise on what she should do if she has anything wrong with her knee and at first she accepted the advice but than some other workers in the break room asked what happened when it was mentioned she fell and she told them she fell because she slipped on a box but she than told them a vicious lie by telling them that I refused to help her and that this was all my fault for leaving the mess of boxes on the floor, but I did offer to help her but she wouldn't let me but she let these other workers help her. This woman Deborah has told vicious lies about me before behind my back at work once, she's a liar and a bully, she's shown that she's had it in for me without reason. She's always condescending towards me.
I know that I could just tell our manager and let our manager handle things but I'm afraid to bother him because managers are often busy and I don't want to interrupt him, our manager is a nice guy and he's a really good man but I'm also afraid that if I report anyone that the person I'm reporting will tell a lie and no one will believe me or that people will blame me if I report someone. I got nothing against anyone at work but something has to be done about these two workers that I got a problem with because sometimes if a worker reports another worker, even if the problematic worker doesn't lose their job, sometimes the problematic worker will probably retaliate, that is if they retaliate.
I just want to work at my job without causing any problems just for reporting someone. Also, please don't blame my manager, he's not at fault for anything, I'm just wanting something to be done about the two workers I'm having an issue with and I'm sorry if I'm bothering anyone.
This woman sounds like she has been doing this to you for too long, we all know people who are that mean to a coworker should have something done about them. If your manager doesn't do a thing about her, than looks like this woman and anyone who sides with her are just as bad as her. If she is mean to you but nice to everyone else, that's her doing the "Kiss Up/Kick Down" tactic where she kisses up to the boss or higher up and kisses up to everyone else and she kicks you down. If she will never change no matter how many times she's written up or if she pretends to be nice but stabs you in the back, no matter how nice you try to be and if the manager won't do anything about it. Than this woman should be fired.
too slow delivery and no contact information
When I opened the website www.hobbylobby.com, I felt in love with these items. I ordered some stuff for the knitting and art supplies as well. I paid through PayPal, but I received only invoice from them. The seller didn’t provide any information within 5 days. When I finally received the email, I checked for their contact information, but the seller hasn’t posted it. I still haven’t got the order, but 6 weeks passed from the day, when I have placed the order. Really slow and unreliable company.
still no delivery and company promised too much
I love knitting, so I ordered some stuff for my hobby from the company www.hobbylobby.com. It was mentioned on the website that the delivery would take about 5-15 business days. It turned to be lie. I waited for the whole month, but the rep from the company only promised to provide it ASAP. A lot of promises and blah-blah. The company is total scam and the worst services, so better avoid them or you will lose money only.
deceptive advertising and belittling manager
Hello Customer Service. I wish to first mention that this is my first action regarding a complaint about managers at a Hobby Lobby store located in Englewood, Colorado (at the corner of Quebec and County Line Road) and a deceptive advertising experience. I was upgrading my paint brushes at Hobby Lobby this morning. As I was leaving the isle with brushe...

Injured at the Hobby Lobby store due to negligence in cluttered aisles, Christmas platform breakdowns and buckets of metal rods. Store manager said he was worried I was going to sue them so while I was filling out the incident form they told me to call corporate and they would take care of everything. Corporate told me to submit my bills to them after physical therapy and they would pay them.
I trusted their word as I know the owner Mr. Green is a Christian and stands on Christian principles.
Fast forward 3 years, they would not pay the bills. My daughter posted on the incident and corporate called me due to the post. The lady that called me asked if I had it in writing and since I didn't she said it was past the 2 years that I could sue them so they didn't care. I still have the pictures of my injuries and of the cluttered aisles / area where I fell.
I'm still in physical therapy and will probably be in physical therpay for the next year or two.
Amazed. Christian owned company suing the government for religous freedom and yet they don't honor their own word - I should have sued them and if I could sue them now I would.

refusal to refund
Anyone who has known me for more than a half hour knows how
much I loved Hobby Lobby. I was a good customer. (On average I spend about $1500 a year at HL.) Until last week when I bought four pieces of curtain fabric. I brought them home and hemmed and made a casing for one panel. When I hung it I realized it had been cut very crooked and was not the full length I asked for and paid for. I took out the casing to measure and sure enough it was lacking about 2". I then measured the other 3 pieces and all three were also short. It is not easy to measure long pieces of sheer fabric-who has a table that long in their homes? But I cleared off my dining table and got a friend to help me lay them flat and measure with a metal yardstick. It was a PAIN!
So I took them back for a refund. I had to wait in line and then was sent to the fabric dept so they could measure and make sure I wasn't lying. So I waited some more. (I'm handicapped) Sure enough they were all cut too short. However, the manager refused to allow me the refund on the piece I had sewn. She actually said that
I should not have assumed that her employee had cut it properly and I should have measured it myself at home before I hemmed it. Stupid me to assume that HL employees are doing their jobs correctly! Her argument was that she couldn't re-sell. Not MY problem. I am not the one who made FOUR mistakes. But that aside, I pointed out that if she cut off the half inch hem and the 2"casing she would have a perfectly saleable piece of fabric.
She would not call the store manager. When I got home I contacted the corporate office and they too failed to issue a refund. We are talking here about a whopping $14. They"discussed" it with the store manager and will ask employees to be more careful but too bad-so sad that I am inconvenienced.

Nice to know that I'm not the only one having a problem with Hobby Lobby fabric! I bought 4 pieces of fabric, all cotton, and took them home. I washed them, assuming they would soften up when the sizing was washed out. If anything, the fabric got stiffer. Keep in mind that when I purchased the fabric I was told that I could return it as long as I had not cut it. I hadn't. Now I am being told that I can't return it because it has been washed. Where in the store does it say that? I was also told that since it was less than a yard I couldn't return it (only 2 out of 4 pieces were). Where in the store does it say that? Nowhere are any of these policies stated! I just got off the phone with corporate, who said they will call the store to discuss it with them.
Ok, Ashley from corporate customer service [protected]) just called me back to let me know that she had spoken to the co-manager who will take care of me if I return with the fabric! I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised by this outcome as I had called customer service yesterday and no one returned my call.
Hopefully, Hobby Lobby has read some of these complaints and taken them to heart, realizing that if they want to keep their customers coming back, they need to step up their game. At least I will go back (although I won't be buying any more fabric!)!
What does your handicap have to do with this review. Oh I get it you want preferred treatment, aka not having to wait in line because you are handicapped. That makes sense. However you are not special and have to wait like everyone else.
Hobby Lobby thinks that customer service means that the customer is supposed to serve them.
It means nothing to them that I am trying to give them money because they evidently receive a paycheck no matter how badly they behave. I will not go back - ever!
customer service/attitude!
I will never shop at hobby lobby in covington, louisiana again! Check out lines are always long... With one or 2 cashiers operating the registers. There is usually a manager floating around, oblivious to the lines. The clerk checked one item out at full price... I corrected her stating it was 40% off. She said "no" it was labeled floral... Not christmas. I told her there was a giant sign over the wreath in the christmas section where I found this one (Along with more like it). She said 'well, that's a mistake. Someone displayed it in the wrong section."so, I left my items and ran to the back to get one that said"christmas' only to find she was checking out another person and had put my items to the side. I wouldn't have minded but this person had a return (And this was not the return register) so she had to call for a manager to sign the return!
So I politely put my wreath on top of my other purchases and walked out...!
This is the worst store for customer service! I will pay twice as much at any other craft store just to bo ycott hobby lobby! Telling all my friends... And gordon's and michaels will appreciate my business!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am a former employee of Hobby Lobby, and I recommend always grabbing the sale flyer available at the front of the store. The flyer has the posted sales for that specific week. And yes, if it didn't say Christmas on the label... that would not be a sale item. Customer's sometimes leave products they change their minds on throughout the store. The cashier was correct. Customer's really can be more proactive in solving issues with cashiers rather than threaten to not come back because they always come back 98% of the time.
I also work at Hobby Lobby and if it didn't say Christmas on it the item was not on sale. We can't follow every customer to make sure they put things back where they belong. Cashiers do get in trouble if their sales are too high, we don't have scanners which means we memorize the whole ad.
I work at hobby lobby. We always have to call a manager for a return. Just saying.
