selling cordless power tools with NO BACKUP PARTS
Some years ago, not that long, I bought a NOT cheapie Li ion brand cordless drill, with two batteries. I know how to look after equipment after using all kinds of tools for now 60 years. I never left this drill or batteries out in the freezing cold shop. always stored in the heated basement.
After a few years, batteries no longer charge. So I went back to the same store, to learn, NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Now in the Home Hardware flier. I see them flogging a set of Li-ion brand tools [ three tools and a light,] at cost of $279.97. AMAZING. April 1, 2022.
I have a mind to stand in front of that Home Hardware store, to warn customers of future problems with junk service with Li-ion branded tools. I have NO quibble with the staff or manager at all, only that Home Hardware is still messing with the CUSTOMERS AGAIN
Desired outcome: Please a reply to this legitimate complaint. they should not be selling this product again with no battery replacement available. Nothing available on line, anywhere.

After yeras of trying to find the product I'm looking for it shows me only related products like: I tipe drywal:shows drywall screws and mud. Like cement board:shows screws and concretye mix, and the list goes on. With the home Depot if I type cement board, I get cement boards. I had to go to my Homehardware Building centre to see if they were selling drywaal, they had lots.

Desired outcome: Credit to my Visa for the entire amount of my purchase!An apology for this nonsense and waste of time.
Order log splitter
I would like to know why my order is canceled again! I have been trying to order a log splitter from you guys for 9 months now. I was trying several times to get the 25 tone log splitter and my order gets canceled a few times no stock but you kept advertising it anyway on sale as well with no stock? So I ordered the 35 tone log splitter you had stock when I ordered it and now I get email saying it's canceled again! But this time you are keeping my $1568.00 for 30 days which I have to pay interest on and insurance on my line of credit. You guys are costing me money and a lot of time what kind of customer service is this, this is BS and I want answers I have been very nice and understanding about this crapy service but now I'm very angry with this horrible customer service and want answers or I'm going to go on every social media site and tell my story about your horrible customer service and shady business practices. I WANT ANSWERS this time or I'm calling head office this time as well. You guys really pissed me off this time.

Harrison Bazile is an employee at your Marksville Louisiana store I noticed you weren't there whenever my nephew went to pick up supplies he tried to hit on him taking him for some body else Harrison Bazile has been arrested for molesting my child he has been to jail multiple times for children he is a known drug user and he's been in jail for doing a drive-by also he got fired from Jiffy Lube for stealing their products and selling it on the streets trying to sell the inspection stickers I don't think such a person should be working in a decent place like that
Poor management and respect for employees
To the Powers that Be,
It's a rare day that I need to sit and compose a letter such as this one.
I'm sure you at the Head Office have become aware of the sad situation in your Salisbury, NB location.
Such a nice store to support over the years and my family have been very loyal (even when I moved to Moncton) to support this community store. Knowing the past owners and many of the (mostly) amazing employees over the years has made it easy to drop my money at this location.
Knowing the Colpitts family as close personal friends of mine (one since the '80's) I believe 100% what has been relayed to me from behind the scenes and how the employees have been treated with the latest management choice.
Word spreads fast in a small community like this and I'm sure you are already feeling the effects of the dismissal of a 40+ year employee. I feel badly for the owners from PEI but it was there initial choice to employ the current manager with the lack of knowledge on how to fulfill his duties at this store. Blatant disregard to obvious store policies towards the staff and the customers that enter this establishment.
Now to find out that when one of the now non current customers came in to close her account only to find that the staff didn't know how?! Also not seeing many of the employees wearing masks is unacceptable in our current reinstated state of emergency is unacceptable. They have ALWAYS been slack on the covid rules but now to continue to have such disregard to the government and health/welfare state of rules for everyone's safety is simply unacceptable.
I will NEVER darken the doors of this store nor will my family and friends from what I hear after sharing the disrespectful way this store carries on with its business. I will return however when I see/hear of major changes and trust me...you have your work cut out for you to bring this store back to where it used to be.
I wish you luck. I will continue to spend my money in our local HHW in Moncton. One in particular is also a favourite on Killam Drive.

Channellock ash vacuum - unacceptable customer service
I Purchased an "Ash Vacuum - Channellock" 404247 Model: EATc6085-C 2001 early 2021 @ my local Kingston, NS Hardware Store for 119.99 + Tax Total $138.00. The filter got damage and I contacted the store to purchase a replacement filter. I was told the Channellock Vacuum I purchased was now discontinued and that they could not obtain a replacement filter!? I checked other stores in the immediate area and was told the same thing. I phoned the Greenwood Store back and spoke with the Store Mgr who listened to my complaint, having purchased a New Ash Vacuum from Home Hardware and now unable to obtain parts for their product. Furthermore, I now find I have basically a relatively new vacuum that is required to clean out my Pellett Stove daily, which I now can't use and what am I to do? She took my name & phone number and said she would get back to me. That was two weeks ago now and I was never called! Today (*Sept 8th, 2021) I find advertised in the Home Hardware Flyer, effective Sept 9-12, the very same Channellock Ash Vacuum Model on Sale!... for $79.97 - Reg. $119.99! So, not only did Home Hardware misinform me about their product, to add insult to injury, I was basically "lied to" by Home Hardware management. I then went Online and ordered on Amazon.com, the exact replacement filter I was told wasn't available! The filter is costing me $52.86 to ship from the States! I worked in retail management for over 40yrs. and I know this is NOT acceptable Customer Service, by anyone's standards, let alone *Home Hardware, one of the few great Canadian Companies that remain operating in Canada. Please respond. Than you.

I placed an order online July 17th, contacted the store twice, since my order was so delayed and today I received an email that my order was cancelled. There was no explanation as to the reason. I just finished driving to Canadian Tire to pick up the item, so it can't be a stocking issue. Very disappointing experience with Home Hardware.
Radley lawnmower
Horrible experience at this location. Sandy and John did not help at all. I have an issue with a lawnmower less than 3 months old and still the issue is not rectified. I received a used one not in the box with gas already in the lawnmower ! This is during the lockdown so it is not like i could go in the store! who sells items this way? Sandy still hasn't called back to help me out . This is a week ago now! I'm being told she's probably "busy" seriously this is the kind of customer service experience that we have come to expect from managers at a store at that! I'm so appalled it is disgusting . I have also contacted headoffice and awaiting their response. I do not recommend this store if you have a product issue they will not help you! Keep your money and shop elsewhere.. I do not want to give this even 1 star but I have to in order to submit a review

An on line order I placed on July 6, 2021
My son Michael placed an order of Radley 13 inches lawnmower on line on July 6, 2021
(Order# [protected]) to be picked up at one of your store located at Argyle Street in
Caledonia, Ontario.
He received an email notification on Wednesday morning, we therefore went there to pick our order up on the same day. Upon arrival at the store, I saw a big signage situated on the main entrance which clearly indicates senior gets 10% discount on Tuesday.
As I am a senior citizen, and in fact the lawnmower that we purchased on Tuesday was a gift for my son's new townhome in Hamilton. Since the lawnmower was purchased on a Tuesday, so I asked the store personnel if they can make the adjustment by granting me a 10% off? However, I was told as the purchase was being done on line, and the 10% is only applied for seniors who come in to the store to purchase in person, as such, they refused to help me. I said to the staffs over there that I was unaware of the offer for in store purchase only, however, if I knew in advance that there is a senior previliage in place for in store purchase, I would have come in to the store to perform the purchase since I need to come to Caledonia store to pick it up anyway.
I felt that I have been treated unfairly as it was just a simple request I made, all they have to do was to reverse the transaction
or simply just give me a in store credit equivalent to the 10% I am entitled to as a senior citizen. My monthly income is solely from CPP and OAS, my son's lawnmower is $79.99 + taxes. The 10% off is still some kind of savings to me as I would save more or less $8 + taxes or so.
I called [protected] and spoke with a supervisor who advised me they are only a third party company working for Home Hardware for on line orders related matters except for complaints or anything in related to my query. He then referred me to call [protected] and speak with someone at the Customer Services line.
I called the aforesaid given phone number on Thursday and left two messages (one in the morning followed by a subsequent message around 2:17 pm), but I did not receive any calls back. I made two more phone calls on Friday morning and in the afternoon, leaving two messages respectively..not surprisingly I did not receive any calls back again.
I waited patiently for two days, I was so disappointed and upset that I picked up my phone and made another phone call on Sunday, even though I know that the customer service line will not pick up any messages due to weekend. I clearly indicated on my message on Sunday that I was really upset and angried that they have ignored all my previous messages and demand an immediate call back no later than Monday, which is today on July 12, 2021. Once again, I receive no calls back.
I picked up my phone one last time this afternoon at around 12:48 pm, leaving my
final message unpleasantly on the answering machine on your Custoner Service line. It is now 2:00 pm, I still haven't received any calls back.
What kind of Customer Service tactics you are using towards your customers? I am really surprised Home Hardware is a big box retail store in Canada, why would you choose to treat your customers with ignorance? This kind of disrespectful manner to seniors is totally unacceptable.
I never come across a terrible and unfair treatment like this from any retail stores in all my life in the past. What did I do wrong that I have been treated so badly and unfairly!
I do not believe that I have been asking something unreasonable and inappropriate. This is such a terrible experience I have come across in dealing with Home Hardware! If I do not hear back from you in the next 24 -48 hours, I will write on the social media site and your CEO, let other people view my story and come up with a fair judgement in my bad and poor situation with the Home Hardware.

Weed eater replacement parts.
Purchased a weed eater trimmer from a Home Hardware store on Tuesday June 29, 2021. Spool lasted about 15 minutes before running out of line. Spent about three hours trying to find a replacement spool with line as I am 70 years old and don't want to spend my remaining years online or trying to wrap line on a spool. No luck. Called customer service at [protected] and they were able to send me 5. I requested 10. They didn't have enough. The shipping charges are over $18.00 for 5 or 10. I refused. Don't sell something you can't back up with parts in the store. The weed eater/trimmer is useless to me. The model number is 5073-037. Not blaming the people at my local Home Hardware Store. They are wonderful and understanding. Sad to say you took a Senior Citizen to the cleaners. Don't blame Benchmark. It's the senior executives that I hold responsible. I will be posting on Facebook to warn other consumers of your behaviour.
Desired outcome: Don't sell products you don't stand behind.
We also are having the same experience, only with a different product.
We purchased a Benchmark Pressure Washer last year. The hose sprung a leak & is unusable. We have been frustrated trying to find someone in the HH stores that know how to search for a replacement hose.
We have come to the conclusion that we have to replace the whole unit because of the difficulty or impossibility in getting a replacement hose.
Why sell a product exclusive to HH that doesn't offer parts.
Why not educate your people that Benchmark doesn't have any option to buy replacement parts for & or educate them how to find & order these parts if it is possible...
HH is not my favorite store to shop in anymore.
Benchmark is not a reputable product to buy.

I attended the Store in Coldwater, On Today 2021/06/16. I entered the store and asked the large bald man, if I could have some BTK for my caterpillar infestation. He was rude, chewing food, no mask and told me I was interrupting his lunch. I have a large property 5 acres a 5500 sq foot house and 3000 sq foot shop infested with gypsy moths caterpillars, he would only sell me 3 bottles I said I needed 5 he argued I didn't know what I was talking about and questioned my having a house that large.

the new rule, that plastic shields are not sufficient..
Home hardware is a block away from me in my town.. I am doing a lot of work on this new house I bought, so I am a very frequent customer..
Up until, just a few days ago, my plastic shield was considered a mask..
Now it isn't, however, it is my right to shop, I don't like being told I'm not allowed in stores anymore.. And only Home-hardware says these shields are not sufficient.. at the Hospital in Halifax, my shield was accepted..
Why are you guys following those rules even more than the Hospital?
I am claustrophobic, with PTSD, I will actually faint, if wearing a mask longer the 10 minutes.. and already 2 minutes in I feel panicked..
The plastic shield was me doing my best efforts, I am disappointed, in Home-hardware.. For enforcing these rules more than all the other stores..
I would boycott, if it would make a difference..

Unorganized pulling internet orders, received old paint, clerks lack product knowledge
I had placed two Home hardware orders via their website. They duplicated one item that was not charged for, so I brought it back. Now I realize they forgot an item in their warehouse for another order I had picked up and I have to go back yet again. Prior to this I was sold a gallon of Natura Pearl paint that was old. I was only given a credit for another can of paint when I had asked for a refund. This bad paint cost me extra labour to sand down the two walls to remove the bad paint which should specs of dried paint stipple and also had to throw away a roller cover which I paid for because of this disaster.
Product knowledge could be majorly improved for instance 3 clerks on different incidences were unsure of what type of light bulbs went with the fixtures in your store.
Desired outcome: Organization pulling items, refund for 1 gallon of paint, free 3/8'' mm large roller, more knowledge needed in lighting department
Bad recommendation, awful customer service from a manager.
I was looking at buying the Red Back boots for work (CSA). I had been to the whistler store 2 times before the third visit when I purchased the boots as $250 is a lot of money and I wanted to make the right decision. I was advised by three different workers in the store that I should buy a half size smaller. I was perfectly set on getting the correct size when after being told 3 times, I decided to take their advice. I wore the boots for one day, they were still in immaculate condition and most definitely possible for resale when I took them back in the original boxing but when I spoke to the manager I was essentially attacked with incomprehensible attitude . I said I had been ill advised by staff who I would say are professionals to which the manager insulted his own staff and said they're not professionals. The boots left me in excruciating pain on day one which is why I tried to exchange them. I was faced with defense from the manager and insult after insult, I was told, "you look old enough to make your own decisions" and, "you need to take responsibility for making your own mind up". Not only is this incredibly insulting, if I had ever said this to a customer, I no doubt would have a disciplinary. I am utterly appalled at the lack of help or customer service from this manager. I called customer service to which I still haven't received a call back yet and I am left with boots that leave me in pain everyday. Ideally I want the boots exchanged and the manager to have a verbal warning about his awful complaint handling.
Desired outcome: Exchange of boots and refund of tax paid.
Sales Service
My wife and I went furniture shopping at Beck's Home Hardware in Montage PEI . While going through the store we found a sofa bed on sale . We liked it and decided to buy it .
The sales person advised us that it was their last one and that they would not sell it to us . It would take months to order one .
If it was not available why was there a big sale sticker on it ? Why didn't it say " not for sale"?
So frustrating. Later that day I found that I could buy the same product on line from a company somewhere else in the country . I once again asked them to sell it to me and again they refused .
So much for " shop local " . In all my years I have never experienced this before . Great neighbours in the middle of a pandemic. Lost my family's business for ever .
Desired outcome: This store should not be part of the Home Hardware family. Why was there a big sale sticker on the product if it was not available. Was it really on sale ?
