I bought windows from this Menards store. I gave them the exact window size opening. When I went to have the contractor install the windows, the contractor said that because of the rough opening that the customer service rep put in the windows were made smaller than the size that I ordered and now they don't fit. I took the windows back to the Menards store and the Manager Edward refused to allow me to reorder windows, not to mention his rudeness. Now, I am stuck with windows that don't fit.
If you takr 2 seconds to read the contract it tells you what size the windows will be dumb *ss!
Read the fine print "Windows are made 1/2 to 3/4" smaller than the demension given to allow them to be shimmed into place. Maybe your contractor is an idiot.
I feel for you. I just had whole home windows installed. They advertise "virtually noiseless"... NOT.
They "shimmed" two windows wrong. They came out with"memory screen" which I thought I bought...NOT.
They put in cheap, screen... My slider does not open all the way due to the wrong hardware... THEY ALSO SUPPOSEDLY GAVE 70% OFF AND to date still do not know how much each window costs! 70% off of what? A piece of work that should be shut down and is still going! Thanks, California!
That's what you get! You pay for what you get, meaning that the person who gets paid to order your windows doesn't know jack ###! Just like the one who manages his employees. For that being said, sometimes the consumer needs to step back and take a look at cost differentials! Now if you would have went to lets say Spahn Rose lumber Co. and gave your dimensions, I am sure that they would have explained to you the r.o. (rough opening) size to the unit size. With that being said, if you as a customer would of been confused they would have came out and took the measurements at no extra cost. And now not only would you have excellent windows from Andersen whom have been selling windows before I was even born, but also they come with a nice warranty. And I would consider personally top of the line for there prices! Who knows maybe the windows you ordered from Menards, that company may have already filed for bankruptcy like most of the other window companies! Spend a little more and you'll probably come out ahead the next time!
You are given a contract to sign. Read it. Or ask questions. Your dealer is suppose to know virtually everything about the products he is selling. I have been a service provider for Jeld-Wen Inc. for 15 years and a carpenter/builder for the previous 18. Now I'm a dealer. I will answer any question you have truthfully. D.b.a.
