Purchased a $125.00 MoneyPak GreenDot from CVS on May 31, 2011 8:09 a.m. However, when I tried to use it, I found that the card was defective! When attempting to scratch off the silver strip to reveal number, the entire silver strip came off taking the number with it! Number was unreadable! In a panic, I immediately called CVS to let them know what happened. The store manager said there was nothing they could do. He said, once the card leaves the store, its out of their hands. He said I need to call MoneyPak. Well, that was reassuring. So I immediately called MoneyPak and got a rep that basically laughed all of the way through my complaint. He must have been a past bill collector, because he couldn't care less about my problem. After I spent 20 mins on the phone with him giving him ALL my information including my name, phone number, my receipt date, store information, card detail... he told me to make copies of the card and receipt and fax it. He said "We, will go through the thousands and maybe millions of records to find the MoneyPak number and someone will get back to you in 24 hrs.." 24 hrs!? I need to do my business today, not tomorrow! He continued to laugh. He obviously was not a professional. Now, I'm out of $125.00 for who knows how long + the $4.95 service fee, not to mention the cost of sending a fax. I am a very UNHAPPY Customer and will NEVER risk my money on MoneyPak again.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
this happened to me, the strip came completely off and took the numbers with it and was unreadable, i took it back to walgreens and the manager called greendot, and had me talk to them, they were asking for some number on the receipt that i couldnt find, because there were so many numbers on that receipt i didnt know which one they were talking about, so she voided the card and gave me a new one were the strip came of properly, i thought it was my fault for using a key instead of a coin to scratch the numbers off, well a few weeks latter a bought another card from that same walgreens, i used a coin this time and the same thing happened, i took it back to the store and she said there was nothing they could do, that her manager would not allow her to do anything, and that i should call greendot, but to me it isnt worth the hassle because i only loaded 37 dollars, so im done with green dot
I agree they are a terrible company and their refund policy is awful. Avoid using!
I purchased a Green Dot Reload at Rite Aid. Tried to load the number on the Card and it would not take. Said the number was not valid. Tried to call Green Dot at the number on back of Card and was told it would be a 20 minute wait. I held and held and each time they would come back on line they would say it was a 20 minute wait. I took the card back to Rite Aid and talked to the Manager and told her my problem. She tried to call and got the same message of 20 minutes hold. She put the phone on Speaker and it held for 10 hours and no one ever came on the phone. She called her Supervisor and they could not help me either. I have given up and want to let you know that I will never use Green Dot again nor will I ever recommend it to anyone. I have been screwed out of my $50.00 by a company that I think is a scam.
If you have the recipt you can return the card from where you purchased it and I believe from any other store that sells Green Dot. If you have your receipt and still have the green dot card you can return to the store where you purchased green dot card, ask for manager get his/her name, then ask for the coporate office of the store phone number. If they won't give you info then I would look up the corporate office for the store on the internet and inform them of this incident and get the persons name whether they help your or not. If not make a complaint to better business bureau and consumer affairs for the state you reside in. Keep your receipt. Make copy of receipt and attach letter mail both letters to better business bureau and consumer affairs, reporting the store where you got if from mentioning the manager name of the store, and person name in corporate office of the store, and call green dot company again explain your story if still no, ask to speak with a manager get their name, also ask manager if they can give you phone number to corporate office, if not look up on internet corporate office for Green Dot. I also believe even if you don't have the receipt if you still have the card Green Dot can still refund you as there is a time frame showing the card hasn't been used for money. Good Luck!
I have used Green Dot cards from rite aid and had bad ones where I couldn't read it after scratching the card. Call Green Dot give them the number on your receipt as they are suppose to activate it over the phone as long as you have receipt number. I would write down manager name from store I purchase Green Dot card and ask for corporate office to store phone number or look up corporate office on website myself. Call GreenDot back ask to speak with a manager so you won't have to explain the story twice. Write GreenDot manager name down and ask manager for phone number to corporate office for GreenDot or look corporate office for greendot up on website. If still no help I would write a letter including all the names of people I spoke to and indicate what each person told me and send letter to better business bureau and to consumer affairs for the state you reside in. They will call or write you back and investigate the matter. Good Luck!
my mother bought a reload card that would not load . it has been over two weeks and nothing has been done to resolve this issue. the moneypak was for 400.00. i have faxed information several times and keep getting the run-around.i was told that the money went to someone else. i NEVER received the money that my mother paid for the reload. if this is not resolved i will call the better business bureau, the tv stations and the police department.
