I want to advise all people looking for Party Supplies and costumes to STAY away from Party City. Terrible customer service and can most likely find cheaper at Amazon. I ordered over $150 in product and after submitting the order found out the "promo" code didn't qualify. These "promos" are simple bait click to get you to pay over priced products. When I contacted them they could care less about my issue. I notified them immediately after placing the order and was informed by them that there was nothing they could do to cancel the order. But they will refund me after I take the time, effort and cost to send back to them. After getting my credit card company involved, Party City said they will include in my package a pre paid return label. If they can find my order and place a pre paid postage why not save the time and cost to ship it at all? This company didn't seem to care that I could spend money in the future with them if they simply cared enough to help my issue. Instead the customer service was rude and said the refund would not include the shipping cost ($30). They could prevent the $30 shipping charge but didn't. They could care less. STAY AWAY from PARTY CITY. They don't value their customers!
very disappointed with partycity
I have ordered two costumes + wigs from www.partycity.com website two months ago. My order arrived in a timely manner and I really like the costumes, very nice and the same as pictures. One wig was ok, but the second one was wrong. I contacted PartyCity customer care service and told them that one wig was incorrect and they offered me a replacement. So I sent the wrong one back and was supposed to get the correct one in max two weeks. It is now two months and nothing yet. When I contacted them about my replacement I heard nothing but empty promises. Very disappointed with PartyCity.
shipping ripoff and lies
I ordered from PartyCity.ca and they claim they ship from somewhere in the U.S. so they charged me $21.95 plus almost $10 in duties and taxes.
I get my shipping notification. The items were shipped from Mississauga, which is about an hour and a half away from me. I emailed them asking why I was charged for duties and taxes and insane shipping costs when you are shipping from Canada ... the response I get just said they ship everything from the U.S. and that is why I was charged that.
The tracking doesn't lie.
Party City's customer service however...
Anyone curious the shipping number is: [protected] on Canada Post's website. It clearly never crossed the border and was picked up by Canada Post in Mississauga and they have no response to give since they are busted.
If it crossed the border the tracking would say it went through customs.

no refund, no communication –scam
I don’t advise other people to buy from the website www.partycity.com. I ordered Halloween costume from them, but these jerks charged me for wrong sum. After that they provided the wrong costume. I contacted the rep and explained the situation. He told me to send the order back and promised money back. After that no delivery of my costume, no refund and the seller stopped to communicate with me. Maybe someone has any idea how to track this seller and return money back, please contact me then or leave a comment. Thanks.

I came into the store with my family to return a costume that was damaged. The cashier called the manager up to the front to authorize the return. Rather than just apologize for damages and carry on, the man was a racist jerk! His comment, I feel so bad posting, was "Yeah, that'll happen when ya let the [censored] make costumes, they can't see what they're doin!". Got our money, stormed out of there, no plans to ever, EVER return.

BOYCOTT party city NOW ! Every experience with this company has been crazy poor customer service. I don't even know the words to describe there outlook. My most recent experience was trying to return product to the store. They said they would not take it back at all no return no store credit, not that I wanted one, just outright not going to take it back. they stole my stroller
After buying $120 of party supplies I forgot my $300 stoller in the store. The manager left a message that he had it. I called and I was informed that it would be held in the back room. I told them it would be a couple of weeks before I could get in to get it and they said no problem. When I got in a couple of weeks later the rep could not locate it. I spent a couple of weeks trying to contact the manager. I finally caught him there after he ignored my messages and he said he disposed of it.
I find this unethical after telling me they would keep it. I would imagine the manager or one of the employees are enjoying it right now. I am calling for a boycot of the store since they are not honest.

I had to return an item at Party City and had accidentally thrown out the receipt. It was quite obvious that I bought it there. They called a manager over, who looked about 12 yrs old, and he proceeded to tell me that I would need a copy of my bank statement, showing Party City as an entry, in order to get my $4.99 back. I thought that was BS but said OK and asked if they could put it on a giftcard. They said "We don't do that...Sorry!", with a 'you're screwed' tone, not even with patronizing empathy for the situation. They have horrible customer service skills because they kids running the store. They need some adults in the store to show the kids how its done. Its difficult to accept the final word as a manager, from a punk with a huge hole in his ear. However, I realize they probably pay next to nothing for wages...so basically as a company...you get what you pay for...so I guess we should all just suck it up? Party City is huge and often needed, but I will shop elsewhere. The thing that bothers me is, they don't appear to care.
Why would you EVER expect to get money back without a receipt? Yes it could have obviously been a party city item, but how are they to know you purchased it and didn't steal it? However, they could have and should have give you a merchandise credit (they don't have gift cards)

Don't blame the kid. - this is store policy and the kid would have gotten in trouble for doing anything else. Disdain and lack of empathy are good emotional coping mechanisms for adult or kid when they're repeatedly put in a position of being not allowed to help someone who expects them to help. it's better than getting frustrated and angry at their can't win predicament.
- ps. I'm 45 and have a hole in my ear and don't much like kids in general, but this one seems not to have done anything wrong in this story.

I ordered a costume through Party City this past Sunday, assuming that it would be processed and mailed out to my home address. I paid for the expedited 2-day shipping ($24 for the 2-day shipping) assuming that it would arrive and that I could inspect it in time for Halloween. As of today, Tuesday, I am yet to receive a confirmation that my order has shipped. I received an email stating that they received my order, but there is no Tracking Number available for my order. Also, my order number they emailed me is different from the order number on their website and I wanted to know if there was some confusion as to which order number was mine (or if both order numbers were valid for my order)
There is NO NUMBER anywhere listed on their website, nor could I find a number to get in touch with an actual person. The only way to contact them is through their Contact Us page, which is a fill-in-the-blank response where they state they will answer your question or concern promptly. After repeatedly filling out this fill-in-the-blank table with every tsubject tab they offer to classify my complaint under, I am still waiting for a response. I am hoping for a response tomorrow, as I need this costume by Friday, and their website still tells me that the tracking information has not been added, and my order numbers are not valid.

I have requested a return of the (2) costumes I purchased at Party city.com and they will never email me back for a return autorization...they are a scam, I am stuck with these costumes that do not look anything like what I purchased online, and this is how they trap the buyer. There is no return address on their shipping paperwork, and they do not have any "live" person to answer the phone at their corporate office number, it is just an automated system, and you are supposed to email them only for an RMA number...I have done that 4 times and left them voice mail messages at their corporate office number...BUYERS BEWARE!

As with anything new, there are always kinks to work out. Online ordering is, in fact, VERY new for this company, and as such, has a few bumps in the road. This in NO way makes it any sort of a scam. Did you make any attempt to contact a physical store location? They would have promptly taken care of your issue. Did you make any attempt to contact, through a store, a District Manager to assist in your issues? Doesn't sound like it...sounds more like you would rather just complain...
I can't agree more. The costume I ordered came damaged - all the buttons were falling off and the zipper is completely broken. I emailed partycity.com for a week straight now and never got a response. I hope people will check this site before considering ordering from partycity.com. I thought this would be one of the more trusted sites since they have physical locations that are open year round, but that was a wrong assumption. I'm going to inform all my friends and let them know not to order from. DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM PARTYCITY.COM, THEY'RE NOTHING BUT A SCAM.

I ordered a halloween costume from www. Partycity.com, during this time they have a promotional offer for shipping cost. Ordered should be of minimum purchase of $60. 00 to get a discount shipping cost. I ordered 3 items to meet the said amount and to be able to get a discounted shipping cost. I ordered on oct. 22, 2009 at 9:39am eastern time and chose a next day air for me to receive it by oct. 23, 2009. The party city online store guaranteed that they will ship it same day if order placed before 1pm central time and order will be receive by oct. 23, 2009 late morning or afternoon. I checked my order status and it's still in the warehouse as of 11:35 am on oct. 22, 2009 until this time oct. 24, 2009 6:59 am eastern time. The only way to contact party city online store is by emailing them and they reply within 24 - 48 hrs. . The costumes that i bought should be used for a children's costumes party last oct. 23, 2009 evening but i didn't receive my order so my kids weren't able to attend the party due to party city's delay of the guaranteed service of shipping. They should not make a promotional offer that they could not guarantee their service. I'm very disappointed on how this online store give their costumers an unsatisfying experience of their guaranteed service. I think the promotional is a scam because they made their costumers ordered a minimum amount of p60. 00 in order to get a discounted shipping cost that they can't guarantee the service of it! fraud and cheating
I would like to report Party City about the return policy around the Holidays. I just purchased a Halloween costume last night for my son. I asked the guy for a medium (8-10 size) and he came back with a large (12-14) costume and said this would work. This morning when I took it out to look at it I realized that it was a 3T-4T costume. I called and spoke to the store about it and they said they could exchange it. I went in and they had no Vampire anything in the costumes. They said I could get things individually to make the Vampire such as a cape, etc... I did so and went to the counter. It was an $18.10 difference in price from which I paid and what I needed to get still. They told me NO MONEY BACK, and offered NO STORE CREDIT. Just exchange equally right then.
I don't think I should have to suffer for the mistake they made. Now my son has nothing and I am out over $29.99 or $18.10 depending how you look at it. I think the policy should be changed. If you buy a Holiday item you should always be ables to return before the big day. This 7 day policy screwed me when I bought within the 7 days. They are stealing money from people by doing so!

I went in and bought 8 balloons to blow up. 3 of which are now flat. I have a hen party tomorrow and this has completely ruined my plans in making the bride's room look special. So disappointed after spending so much on getting them blown up in the first place.
The hours say 9am-9pm and I even called and 8:30pm to make sure I would make it on time since I just got out of work. I show up at 8:43pm with the doors closed and they won't answer the phone. They should change their hours to 8:30 if they don't want customers last minute!

Purchased a pictured item of a ruffled shirt and when I got home to wear it, it wasn't at all as pictured on the package. There are no ruffles on this shirt at all. Now they won't take it back because they claim to have a no return policy on costumes. But it's not even what's pictured.

I don't know about all of you, but my experience at Party City was a great one. Maybe it's because I live in Canada and have only been to the Canadian stores. The staff was friendly and polite, the store was well stocked and organized, things are decently priced, and anything that I've ever bought I've never needed to return. People need to keep in mind that retail is a very stressful occupation, and everyone makes mistakes. If you aren't happy with their service or policies, don't shop there. But to boycott the whole company? That seems a little bit absurd. The stores all run a little bit differently, but that doesn't mean all their stores are horrible.
Managers do not know how to talk to employees. Just because they have that title does not mean they can down talk and disrespect their employees. U have to give respect in order to get it. Plain and simple.
Awful policies! I went in to take back some things from my girls birthday party and even had my receipt but they offer no cash back or in store credit! What kind of business is this?!?! Now I'm stuck with a bit of stuff I don't need! I will NEVER shop there again!
