Planet Fitness, located at Wayne, Michigan & Belleville, Michigan has treated my family unfairly.
Planet Fitness billed us during the pandemic. My husband canceled our membership through a phone call between March-April 2020, and a PF employee told him to cancel payment through the bank. It was what we did, because we were told it automatically would cancel our membership.
We went back to Planet Fitness last week and found out we have outstanding balance of $70+ each (husband, wife, son). The manager told us that we had to pay each outstanding balance before we could rejoin.
Why do we have to pay if the employee did not put a note when we called during a pandemic? That's a classic bait-and-wait and blame the customer. We did nothing wrong. We did everything right. Why do we get charged a membership fee for a gym that was closed for couple of months?
We talked with the Planet Fitness manager, who did not handle the situation nicely. She came up with no solution. She was mean to us and said we were done and she had to go back to work. Why cut short our conversation without solving the problem?
We went to Belleville branch, too, and the employee pretended to be the manager when we were asking for one. This is a hassle in our part because we have to go back and forth to the branch.
It is not our fault if the employee did not put a note to cancel our membership. During pandemic is it not safe to go to the gym. If PF opened again last September how come they did not send an email or text to let us know that they had billed us?
It is very disappointing to pay something that we did not use and without informing us that we owe Planet Fitness. It is its system's fault when nobody put a note to not charge us.
As customers, we deserve to be treated fairly.

Cell phone use
I have been a member of Planet Fitness, Conyers, Georgia, for several years. And while I enjoy going to the gym, I do not enjoy waiting for people to get off their cell phones so I can use the equipment. To say the least it is rude and very annoying. I am asking for there to be a standard policy to be posted at all locations, NO CELL PHONE USE WHILE USING THE EQUIPMENT.

The music is terrible
The music drives us crazy, it's a constant repeat of music that no one in the building wants to hear. Most of us are 50 plus in age, and we would like the music to be 70s or at least in our age group. All of the younger people have ear plugs and they listen to their music. Upon entering Planet Fitness I was told by an orange hair girl that I didn't have on the correct pants to be in the gym. Cool, no problem though this is "judgement free". After exiting the restroom where there were people showering (not sure if that's allowed yet) I went to use my normal massage chair which is routine for me as I do such each morning on the SAME chair. The same orange hair girl told me I could not use the chair I requested. I told her the employee who comes in the mornings does this for me all the time, she refused again, I asked her once more she told me no. I told her that I come every morning and request the same chair I've been coming here for years she accelerated she rudeness. Once I told her I would be filing a complaint she TOLD ME she would makes false complaint on me stating I was being rude to her by not accepting another chair. There is no purpose for this behavior or for her slander other than her own despise of her work. I pray this does not happen to my mom or my numerous aunts who visit your facility.
Gym hours
Our local planet fitness in Lees Summit MO is listed as 24 hours. Last year they instituted "Temporary Hours" which is limited to 7-7 on the weekends. Over one year later we are still operating under these temporary hours even though everything else is going back to normal. On top of that we have had our rates raised so we are paying more for less product. I work 12 hour shifts on weekends and cannot possibly get to use the gym with these hours in place. I have spoken to local management but I get brushed off every time. Very unhappy!
Desired outcome: Extend weekend hours or even go back to normal
Billing issues
I went in to the gym today around 4pm. My daughter was told that she could workout because there was a past due balance on the account. I let them know it was under my name and that there had to be a mistake because it consistently comes out of my account. They told us both bills were past due and that there was nothing they could do at the gym.

i moved from Ca to Az in 2018. I called Planet Fitness and they made me drive back to CA to cancel. I went in and cancelled. They apologized and told me that they shouldn't have made me drive back, but my account was cancelled. It was debited again. They had me transfer my membership to an AZ location so i did and cancelled it. I have called too many times to count. They all apologize and tell me i need to come in or write a letter. I am a former member of Planet Fitness, Duffield Brooklyn. I requested to suspend my membership due to a serious car accident on 4/30/19. My letter was given in on 5/3/19 to Manager Samora Johnson never suspended my account. I was charged $10.45 for June and July 2019. I was also charged $45.00. I spoke to Mark in the New Hampshire office in August and was told I would receive a refund in 30 days. I did not receive my refund. It is well over 45 days and now I expect to receive my refund within 10 days of this notice.

May 4, 2021 I was finishing my cardio when a newer staff asked me to pull my mask over my nose. Please note: my mask was NOT down to my chin. My mask DID still cover my mouth entirely. It was just below my nostril line so I could breathe. I am in my 60's and need better air these days, especially after a fall a month ago and broke my left wrist. Yes, I was wearing my wrist brace post surgery.
Anyway, I got annoyed. There was NO ONE working out in my proximity AND I have been fully vaccinated. So I refused to pull the mask over my nose! Others in the gym were talking in your face close and they weren't being asked to social distance.
The young lady manager asked me to leave the gym. She threw-out an old woman with a broken wrist! Really!
The other PF gym's I go to allow you to drop your mask for cardio. I feel like I was being picked on and don't like it.
Our State allows vaccinated people to gather in large groups, yet at the Kutztown gym I can't even do cardio without masking up over my nose.

Poor, rude customer service in Astoria Queens NY
I have always wonder why people who are overweight, can be miserable rude people. Is it genetic or because they use junk food as a way of escape from there pathetic selves. This best describe the manager Jennifer Lentini of Planet fitness at Long Island City Queens NY. Why would a fitness gym hire a very obese manager? It just seems to me that a gym would want to have employees fit so that it sends a message of health and wellness. Jennifer Lentini is obese, rude and lacks a good understanding of customer relations. I would go into a deeper explanation of the problem I had with Jennifer, If I believed it would make a difference. There are so many complaints about Planet Fitness that it really wouldn't have any affect. I had called my bank to prevent Planet Fitness from extracting funds from my account. The bank service agent had informed me, that they have had a lot of complaints from other customers about Plant Fitness. If you join Plant Fitness you do so at your own risk.
