no delivery attempt
As usual, Purolator refused to attempt delivery and tried to con me into traveling to their depot to pick up my parcel. This is nothing new with them. They have been doing that scam for at least 10 years here in Black Diamond, Alberta.
At the previous depot location they used to outright lie about attempted deliveries to businesses with a wide open door. At the current depot contractor, RONA, they just claim "they probably tried to deliver. You'll have to come and pick it up now or try to contact Purolator." They call on behalf of Purolator, but refuse to take responsibility.
Is this scam of charging door-to-door delivery but expecting the recipient to go pick it up, all across Canada, or just here in Southern Alberta?

poor delivery sevice
My package was delivered on May 17 and I have not received it until June 8. Tracking the package online it said "Available for Pickup", but no detailed address, no phone number. When I called the customer service the lady said they delivered once but I did not answer the phone, Ok then why didn't you call me again? The package was left in the depot for over a week but no one called me and no notice card was left! She also said the package has been sent back to the sender yesterday but the tracking detail said it was still available for Pickup today! She also asked me to reorder from the sender, reorder my ###, it's limited time offers. Really BAD delivery experience. I waited for a while but the depot never called me so I called again, and this time the teller was rude and hung up on me before I finishing talking.

worst service
Your package goes into the maze..., will never reach you. This is the worst courier service I have ever seen. The delivery driver didn't even attempted to be at the address, forget about the buz code. By the way I called 06june, 2012 at 0930 with reference number # and gave them the buzzer. Also, there is construction going on in my building, entry doors are always find opened, or many people go in and out, like ups, fedex, delivery driver could have easily enter the building if he/ she ever came or leave a sticker atleast, where is the notification of delivery sticker at the entry door like ups, fedex?. So, stay away from purolator.

poor service
I had an urgent package for delivery from Calgary to Edmonton and sent it via Purolator. I have sent to the same address for years via Fed EX with no issues. Fed Ex was unavailable at the time we wanted to send the package, so we used Purolator.
Nine days after sending the package, it was returned. Upon calling for an explanation, I was informed that because it was an apt building, no notice to pick up was left. The package was held for 5 days (as per policy) and subsequently returned. It is not Purolators policy to call. It was up to me to follow up and have the recipient arrange for pick up.
Ridiculous. I will NEVER use Purolator again. I will spread the word as far as I can.
Purolator was very quick to respond to my complaint and look in to the issue. They recognize the difficulties that can be encountered when trying to deliver to an apartment building, as do I now. Part of the issue apparently, was the lack of accurate contact telephone numbers accompanying the package, one was missing and one was off by one number. I appreciate their efforts after the fact.
Thank you for the comment Jeremie. I was quite heated up yesterday and disappointed with the response I received on the Purolator support line. I am impressed that you found my complaint and made an effort to respond to it. I will forward my tracking # to the email address you suggested.
I expect that most, if not all, major delivery companies utilize "a tracking number with every shipment". For someone in the position of my recipient, who receives numerous packages regularly, they would be inundated with tracking numbers if each and every sender forwarded one along to them.
I believe that the delivery company, Purolator in this instance, bears the burden of responsibility when it comes to ensuring that packages that have been entrusted to them, are delivered as promised. This includes ensuring at time of pick up that all of the required information necessary to complete the delivery is available. That is the business that they are in.
At the end of the day, I had a tracking number and did not track the package. The onus was on Purolater to carry out their end of the transaction, but obviously I (unfortunately) should have checked up on them.
The reason you use a courier service is so that you don't have to check up on them. But you are right, I should know better. Lesson learned (re learned). I found out it wasn't delivered (because I assumed (first mistake) that Purolator would take care of their business and I didn't track it) when it got returned to me.
It was an apartment building and they didn't leave a notice. I called the recipient and she said there was no notice. When I called Purolator, they said it is their policy not to leave notices at apartment buildings. Give them a call to hear it first hand. I couldn't believe it either.
I have sent to them for years, they receive packages regularly, this one was not special to them. On my end, I was sending this one a bit later than usual, that is all that made it more urgent for me.
The bottom line is that I could have left out "urgent", the point is the service was poor, a package I paid to have delivered was returned due to Purolators policies. No attempt was made at phone contact.

i sent a shipment through purolator to Nigeria, on the 1st of december 2014, they delayed or held the shipment for 10 days, called their customers service, they were just giving me conflicting information, On the 10th day, a lady called me from purolator to inform me that purolator had lost my package that i should file a claim. how can my shipment be lost when infact there was a scan on the 10th day showing Dec 10, 2014 7:11 a.m. Toronto Sort Ctr/ctr Tri, ON Held at U.S. / international gateway - missing country of manufacteur.
i told her this and she said the scanning wasn't real. i was shocked to hear that from a purolator tack and trace specialist. Purolator is the worst courier company. i wount stop saying this until they return my package or send the package to the destination, telling me the package is lost is totally unacceptable for me, and am going to sue them, i will go on every social media, to let the whole world knows what they are doing.
On June 24, 2012 I sent through purolator a small 1lb package to my best friend in Venezuela for a 2 business days. Inside was some little Canadian souvenirs and a birthday gift a brand new iPod touch. Well purolator ARE TERRIBLE not only they lost a keychain but also the iPod . She got it 8 business later. I spoke to some on the claims dept and refused to give me my FULL money back. The manager explanations were" you didn't mention what are you sending " and PUROLATOR won't give me what I paid for( I have the proof) if anyone knows Wayne Cheeseman email or phone # please email it to me ASAP I am getting my LAWYER because of the worst customer service and ridiculous time to give a customer money back. I want to talk to the president of Putolator ASAP or I will go ahead suing you STUP purolator. I want to talk to Wayne or his boss NOWWWWW! My email tagarcia123@gmail.com
Please DO NoT use Purolator! They steal and lay to you.
Once again Kelly is right. She is always right. Never wrong.
Yes, but that does not explain why no attempt was made by you to notify the recipient that a package was being sent to them.
Purolator includes a tracking number with every shipment - the recipient would have been able to know where and when to get her item.
Yeah kelly (SKOR) is right. People do pull scams. SKOR (Kelly) works at a tavern on hwy. 74 that scams people all the time.
How did you not notice a package sent on urgent delivery less than 200 miles away was not delivered, until it was returned to you nine days later?
If it was an apartment building, Purolator would have left a delivery notice on the entrance. Occasionally a lowlife takes the notice, hoping they can pull a scam.
If you have sent to this recipient for years, why did you not tell them to expect the parcel, and give them the tracking number?
i will never be using their services again
I shipped extremely important documents express through purolator almost a week ago, when I got a call yesturday saying that they hadn't arrived I called purolator and they informed me that they had been lost. I had shipped the documents from red deer, ab to edmonton, ab which is approx 150km, if they can lose documents over that short of a distance I would not trust them with national or international shipments!

terrible service for shipping recipients
Purolator is THE worst "delivery" company out there.
I hesitate to use the word delivery, because they are essentially an inter-warehouse shipping company, and so are about as convenient as using VIA rail to get a parcel to my doorstep. They make ONE attempt at delivery (compared to 3 for FedEx and UPS) and in many or most cases the date of delivery is unpredictable. What is the chance the average joe with a job is going to be home at 1:30pm on a random weekday?
So then it goes to the warehouse, which is typically out of the way. Compare this to USPS/Canada Post, with post offices in almost every neighbourhood. So I call in a favour to get a lift to the warehouse and find the time between work-- and am confronted with a 15-person lineup and only one employee. Seeing as purolator doesn't actually make many deliveries, you would think they could amp up their warehouse staffing. 45 minutes later I get my package.
What did I pay for again?
Next time, postal service will be the first choice, then UPS/FedEx/DHL/any other company, and if my only choice is Purolator then I will no be shipping (in this case, I wouldn't have made the online purchase).
disgusting business practices
A business parcel was to be delivered to my address. I missed the delivery and was left a door knocker pamphlet from Purolator. This told me: the company (Purolator), the address, the phone #, times and days of operation)and that I was now to pick my parcel up from them.
I saw Sat. they were open so I'd pop in and get my parcel. Not only was the address wrong, (It was a Fedex address), but all the info. was for the Fedex depot. I walked in and briefly chatted with the gentleman in the Fedex depot and he told me that Purolator hadn't been in that particular depot for over a year. He told me that the nearest depot was Port Kells. I had last year picked up a parcel from there and thought I could remember where they were. I did find Purolator's depot but it wasn't open on Sat..
A fax came through for me on the 9th giving me the correct info., as it was indeed the Port Kells depot I was to go to and I had to pick it up by the 10th. I phoned and told the woman my story and she put me on hold and said her boss said the company that attempted to drop the parcel off, was in business for only 1 day.
Wow what crappy service amongst all the confusion. Possible lie to get out of the truth? When i went to get my parcel the woman was a little slow putting the info. in and then turned to me and said her computer was down. I eventually got my parcel and left.
Disgusting business practices.
they don't deliver!
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! (if you can!)
I didn’t choose this company. I live in a small building containing 10 units. It is very easy, at the front door, you have the list of the units in numerical order and the name of the occupant, for example: 1-john smith, 2-robert johnson, … beside each name/number, there is a buzzer.
Very simple, easy and convenient for visitors or for delivery companies, I had lots of packages delivered for the 10 years i’ve been at that address and never a problem.
I had electronics supposed to be delivered to me by purolator today, on friday the 30th of december. I had a tracking number, when I checked it online on the 29th, it said : 2011/12/29 14:41 shipment in transit
2011/12/29 14:40 picked up by purolator
I called them and they told me it would be for sure delivered on the next day.
So I checked the next day (Today then) at around 11:30 and it said :
2011/12/30 11:10 on vehicle for delivery
2011/12/30 03:24 shipment in transit
I was excited, according to that I expected to receive the parcel in the next hour or so. I had to leave home but my wife could stay and wait for the buzzer.
When I came back at 3pm, I was surprised, there was no parcel at home, my wife had not gotten any buzz or news. There wasn’t any notice on the front door either.
Unfortunately, at that time we started to have a power outage in the neighbourhood, so I couldn’t check the online tracking system. I called purolator, asking them to tell the driver that the buzzer wouldn’t work and that he should call my phone instead but I was told that drivers don’t carry cell phones (?!?)
Also they couldn’t check my status because my name was not enough, they needed my tracking number, which I could not access because I had no power… so I couldn’t put a note on the front door either, therefore I waited more than hours downstairs for the driver’s arrival.
He never came. When the power was restored, I checked the tracking system, and it said :
2011/12/30 14:08 scheduled delivery appointment required
Not sure about what it meant, I called purolator and I was told that the driver chose not to deliver the item because he didn’t see a code on his papers for the buzzer! Of course, there is no code, I cannot invent one, it is much easier the way it is than with a buzzer, a 5 years old kid can figure it out! He had my name, address and apartment number, that is all he needed. But he decided not to buzz! He just went back to his truck and left!
When you call purolator, they have a message playing, pretending that they can deliver on saturdays. Of course, I asked for that service and they could offer it only if I paid 25 more dollars. I refused and asked to talk to a manager to try and get it for free. What kind of a tactic is that to not deliver an item on a friday when it should be so that they can get 25 dollars more for delivering it the next day?
Anyway, as angry as I was, I talked to a manager (Darryl redmond in moncton), got the name of the route of the driver (7w2) but I couldn’t get to have the parcel delivered on the next day without paying. I refused to pay, so the package will be delivered 5 days later, on tuesday the 3rd of january, as they don’t work on the 2nd of january.
We are very upset. What guarantee do we have that the next driver is going to be more professional than the one we had today? Tuesday’s delivery is if everything goes very well I guess, but it could go on forever if purolator does not improve its overall system, the communication with its drivers and its training/recruiting of the drivers…
How do regular customers manage do stay patient or polite with Purolator employees?
I am known to be a calm and quiet guy but this is way too much!
I just phoned Purolator because I thought it would be better to simply go to the warehouse to get the package since your drivers are so incompetent ( for reminder, the driver supposed to deliver the package decided not to do it because he wanted a code to enter a small building when all he needed was to push the button next to my name as in any regular house).Of course, I was told that it was not possible, but also that the item wouldn’t be delivered before Wednesday! Now I think your employees are just playing with customers, and exercise revenge with those like me who dare complaining...So childish and unprofessional, shame on your company!
Of course, nothing I can do but I'll be so careful to spread anyone not to ever take their business to Purolator! This is what I am doing by posting this everywhere I see the name of that company on the internet.
Purolator does not leave notices in apartment/condo buildings. It makes no sense but that is how they do it.
What I do, is contact Purolator. Have them leave the package at their depot. So I can go to pick it up with the print Puralotor page that has the tracking number on it..
damage and false statements
We choose to ship 3 large wall pictures with our business partner for out of town deliveries Purolator. These items were expensive so choose the extra cost and feature available and insured each delivery for their value of $350 each. Two of the three delivered fine but one the wood on corner of wall mounting ws smashed and not repairable. The day of the delivery we had the client that received the item take a picture and email to us and we sent in to Purolator that very day (the picture was date stamped so they were aware it was taken within 1.5 hours of delivery as per their system records) We were told at first it was denied as the client that we shipped to had a "No Signature Required" form on file. After explaining that we as Purolator's client were neither aware of that, nor is it in their terms and conditions, the insurance were purchased and contract for delivery was between our company and Purolator NOT the receiving client therefore not valid as a reason, they went back to review. After over 30 days we were told they wanted pictures of the damaged packaging as well as the damaged item, this was of course no longer an option after 30 days, we were told finally the claim was rejected as the piece was not reported in their system at the various depots it passed through as damaged. We were still charged the insurance, the delivery charges, and have to pay out of pocket to replace the merchandise to our client. We have gone through their terms and conditions and nothing states the shipper is responsible for "knowing" a end client has a contract with the shipping company or insurance is not valid, and it does state that they can ask for pictures of the packaging but it must be sent to them within 30 days, they did not ask until after 30 days. So in the end, we paid and insured for Purolator to damage a delivery, and have us replace it again, basically because total value is under $1000, and not worth small claims court its just too bad for us. Ridiculous!
I just sent a painting to my daughter and it was destroyed by Purolater. I will never trust themagain.

grain in the rain / no knocking / no redress
Purolator does not appear to want people to inspect packages for damages and so drivers drop these off at the doorstep without knocking or ringing the doorbell -- despite their own policy that the drivers must knock/ring the bell. Unfortunately, the sender requires inspection for damage, as they can get no redress from Purolator/UPS if the customer receives a package in error or with damage unless it is rejected at the door. This has been a longstanding problem. After finding it impossible to get a manager on the phone, I finally took my time to go in person. The manager of Purolater in Grande Prairie, Alberta, promised to look into it and to get back to me (I simply wanted to know what I should do). Unfortunately, she never did and the problems continue, and I cannot get her to talk about the issue. I have attached photo's of grain and flour bags left at the doorstep on rainy days; note the rain on the step and the bags. Purolator know that it is grain or flour and have told me they don't like these kinds of packages. The most recent one was left today when, again, I was in the vicinity of the door with a another person who also did not hear them knock/ring. I am sick of it. Other packages, like my vacuum cleaner part delivered Sept. 7 2011, were also delivered without knocking or ringing. The most frustrating thing about my experience with this extremely vexing company is that they do not care to address or resolve the issue. Promises broken. I really dislike this company and avoid using them whenever I can. I also avoid UPS; Purolater delivers for UPS here. These companies make me so very angry. Purolator, please FIX this problem!

Purolator would not / did not attempt to deliver my package because they didn't have a buzz code. The building has a very clear directory! This has never been a problem with other courier companies and even purelator in the past!
So they sat on it for an entire week, making no attempt to contact anyone!
When I called customer service they were not willing to take any responsibility or offer any form of remediation. They stated that a buzz code was part of the address. Perhaps for some building it is needed but at this building the directory is so obvious I don't know how the driver could have missed it, unless of course he / she never actually showed up! If they require a buzz code why did they accept the package from the shipper without a buzz code?!
Overall i'm left with the impression that they have a very poor work / service ethic!
On mentioning this to a friend, they immediately said that in their experience, "purolator is the worst courier company."

I waited from 6 am to 7pm on Friday May 25, 2012. Calgary, Alberta Purolator did not show up to deliver. I am totally disgusted by the lies I saw on the tracking information posted below. Terrible business from Puralator affects doing business with NCIX

no delivery - no tracking
To whom it may concern,
This letter is to share with you my dissatisfaction with PUROLATOR. My friend recently ordered something thru a website for my birthday and had it sent directly to my house thru Purolator.
According to the receptionist I spoke to on July 12th and July 13th, Purolator tried to deliver my package on July 4th. I live in a high-rise apartment where you need to “buzz” the resident in order to gain access to the building. My name is fully visible on the wall and the instructions on how to use the system are very clear. The system is directly linked to my cellular phone, therefore I know for a fact that no one tried to gain access to the building that day. No paper was left on my mailbox, in the foyer or on my apartment door regarding the package. Had my sender not informed me directly that he was sending me a gift; I would have NEVER known anything was on its way to my place. In fact, once the sender told me about the gift, I looked up the website and saw it was at the “OTTAWA-DEPOT”. No where did it say there was a failed attempt at delivery. I assumed the package was being processed and would be on its way to my place in the next few days.
After a couple days, seeing the package was still at the DEPOT, I called to get more information. Nowhere on your website does it say WHERE to pick-up the package (like where is “Ottawa – Depot”…). This is when your receptionist told me about the failed attempt at delivery on July 4th (no information on this anywhere online) and that they had been holding it for a week and that my package was in the process of being shipped back. (Again, no information regarding this was available online at the time). How am I supposed to KNOW I have a package to be picked up when there isn’t any information left for me? Fed-Ex and Canada Post always leave a paper slip with all the necessary information on my door or mailbox whenever there is a failed attempt at delivery. Your receptionist told me that this was not something that PUROLATOR does. Now that the package is being sent back, I have no idea what will happen with the order.
I strongly suggest you review your policies. If what your receptionist told me is true, I personally will not hesitate to tell whoever wants to hear it to use any other shipping companies but Purolator. How you wouldn’t leave a paper slip with the information regarding the failed attempt at delivery is beyond me. How this information is not available on your website is just plain ridiculous.
Should you wish to contact me, I’d be more than happy to explain the situation again. Otherwise, I really hope I never have to deal with this company ever again.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
That sucks but I think someone should have been notified that the gift was coming. They don't leave notices in common areas (any area that you can't gain access to the receivers door.) Reason is security and privacy. Strangers know you are not home. Believe it or not many people have had break ins and theft! You may not agree with the rule. One thing I'm sure you can agree on is its sad idiots that rob people and attempt to steel packages ruin it for the rest of us
refusal to give package
After countless botched deliveries, I have finally had enough of Purolator. As a customer who has packages delivered almost on a weekly basis with Purolator, I can safely say I encountered a problem with at least 20% of the deliveries. The latest problem is that they refused to find my package in the warehouse after not delivering said package earlier that day. The useless employee's excuse was that there were too many packages to look through and that I would have to wait for another delivery attempt tomorrow. She made no effort to go into the warehouse and attempt to find my package. She offered to leave a note for the driver to come in the morning or leave the package at the depot, but I have tried that in the past and the note was completely ignored.
I also had a driver claim "delivery attempted" but obviously no such delivery was attempted since I was at home with a perfectly functioning buzzer all day. I put up with stuff like this in the past, but their new policy of not handing me my package when I go to the depot to pick it up has gone too far. If you want your package delivered consistently or you want to at least be able to pick your package up from the depot, stay far, far away from Purolator.

Stay far far away...lol

The same thing happened to me a couple of years back. I was supposed to receive my passport in time for a vacation. After 4 days past the promised delivery date, still nothing. As I'm heading out the door to put luggage into the car, I notice a Purolator sticker on my door and the driver starting to drive away. Needless to say, I chased the driver down the street and got my passport. He didn't even knock...
poor service, incompetence, non delivery
All of the complaints about Puro-LATER are true. I am going through the same thing yet again. Ordered something online from a company in Toronto, to be delivered in Toronto. Should only take a day. Nope. Address correction after address correction on the day it should be delivered. Ok, no problem it will come Friday. Another address message. Call at 7:30 in the morning to reconfirm my info yet again. I tell them I cannot wait all day again and the girl tells me it should be there around 10 or 11 for your area. Nope. Purolator misses the window and pretends to show up around 2:15. Doesn't buzz my apartment and leaves. I just so happen to check the status about 5 mins after the driver supposedly came. Called them right away to basically be told I must not have heard the phone or I wasn't actually home! The phone was sitting right beside me and I can see any missed calls.
I ask if they can send the guy back since he supposedly was there minutes ago. Apparently they can't do that, they can send a message and *MAYBE* if the driver has time he will come back. They tell me I can pick it up from the centre at 5 if I wanted. Not wanting to waste a trip, call again. The driver is still on deliveries, I get told to call at 6. I know I am going to be tied up and really need the item for the weekend. I ask them to call me as soon as it comes in and I may have a separate local courier pick it up. 6 goes by and no phone call. Call again, get the same run around and told they will call. I ask about coming on the weekend. Nope, we are closed on weekends. Nope we won't be attempting delivery, and your package is somewhere in limbo with the driver.
It's now well past closing and guess what...the tracking shows it conveniently returned to the centre. Less than an hour before they closed, and no phone call.
This is not the first time Purolator has done ### like this on me. Had I have known my items were bring shipped Purolator I would have never done business with them. When it comes to my own small business I would rely on nearly any other carrier before even considering Purolator.

Puolator just deliever once and if you are not at home, you are in trouble ! They never try to call you and re-deliever. You have to travel to their depot location to pick up no matter where you live. Their customer service is bad, they don't care your inconvenience, try to prove that you deseve the misery.
Aw what company do you work for? Complain-LATER? People that throw the word ### into their complaint obviously don't realize how much stuff goes into timing. I'm sure if you HAD your own small business you'd realize that every courier has their own ### and your business would probably have their own ### too. I'd love to know what perfect business you have and apply I'm sure it's aweomse
dishonest customer service, service is nightmare
I receive packages from different couriers regularly. There were problems sometimes, but Purolator by far is the worst company you can imagine.
About 3 years ago, a quite old man was deliverying for Purolator in our area. He sent all have packages to depot and never push the buzz code. Two times he did push the buzz code, but ask me to pick up the package from his truck. UPS even delivered a piano to my condo unit, but never asked me to pickup from down stairs.
I just had worst service they did. We are waiting for a document from my business partner. They forgot to put the buzz code, so I put a large sign before the front door and tell what buzz code for the PUROLATOR delivery, but the delivery guy didn't push the buzz code. So we called their customer service and updated our buzz code immiately and the agent had confirmed they will delivery second day, we called again on second morning again and confirmed they have updated the information, but on second day afternoon about 5:00PM, we did not receive the package. So we called its customer service and they told us they didn't have right information. No buzz code! We gave their reference number from two previous calls and the agent went silence and told us the driver had already back to the depot. So we asked to speak to their manager. This guy repeated same thing as the first one and once he found we had two previous calls. He started making stupid explaination. The driver was confused about the recipiant with the buzz code. We know he was lying. The customer service won't be able to see driver and talked him and how he know the driver is confused. The truth is the driver never came. For a company like this, we want it be a little ethical and at least tell a little bit truth.
I know their truth is Purolator just want to same a few liter gas and wait you to pickup instead of delivery.
I just want to correct a few words: have package is for heavy package.
They don't do second delivery even you ask.

refuses to honor insurance
Somewhere in the purolator system there is a box which belongs to me. They openly admit, they don't know where. They openly admit it bore insurance, they even admit complete fault in the mishandling. However, despite this shocking admission of guilt they refuse to honor the $250 insurance claim on the box, despite having all the original paperwork on the box, proving the insurance.
The reason they have given me is that based upon the contents they do not believe that my insurance claim is valid. They have been so kind as to offer me $2/ lb. So on the $250 the package was insured for, I would get $10.
This package contained spent product which we recycle. The value we would have obtained from that box post recycling would have been in excess of $2000, however to simply replace the raw materials will cost us just shy of $300.
This package was misplaced and mishandled. I was referred to the unmarked department (who was very helpful). I was told by customer service that the package was first refused (a claim which they had no record of), the secondly had no address, and finally that it had no way bill. Odd since it was shipped on a preprinted waybill and purolator did manage to invoice me for this phantom shipment.
The kicker is that ultimately despite admitting to loosing it, they are billing me for it's delivery, and denying my insurance claim. When all is said and done, I will be out over $350, because purolator lost a fully insured parcel.
I vow to never, ever use them again. Ever.
I had a similar experience.
I sent a necklace that was very important to me, but valued under $1000 through their service INSURED.They will not honour the insurance.
The necklace was given to me by my late father two months before he passed away at the age of 53. A small pearl piece had fallen out and I had made arrangements with the jeweler to send it back to them for repair. The package arrived with a small hole (tampered with) and no necklace. Purolator claims took two weeks gathering information, such as original invoices, from me before denying the claim because jewelry is not insurable apparently. Due to the sentimental nature of this necklace I want it replaced and find it very unethical to not stand by the insurance agreement. Additionally, I do not understand why they collected information from me when not insuring jewelry is such a black and white situation, and why it took two weeks. I would have never sent my necklace through them if I was aware it was uninsured.
To me this is one of those cases where the company just does not want to pay. I can see engagement rings and priceless items being uninsurable, but a $1220 necklace does not make sense to me. Finally. no where on the page does it specify what items are not insurable. It only specifies terms and conditions in which you have to click and dig through to find the items. A very unethical and unprofessional practice. My lawyer is looking into this as I speak. No where did i sign or agree for my property to not be insured, and it is quite obvious one of their employees stole it and they do not want to take responsibility for it.
Item shipment Date: Sunday November 2, 2014
Item Picked up by Purolator: Tuesday November 4, 2014
Received by jeweler (package, no necklace): Wednesday November 5, 2014
Reported to Purolator: Wednesday November 5, 2014.
Purolator spent almost 7 days looking for the necklace, then they informed me they could not find it.
I have a small business account with them and have informed a manager I may no longer use their services if this issue is not resolved. They do not seem to care, I have yet to hear a response.
not attempted delivery
I have had some bad experiences with Purolator in the past, so I decided to wait by the door for this package. As I waited for 3 hours (that's how much I wanted to see what they do) I saw a Purolator truck stop at my house. 5 seconds later, WITHOUT even getting out of the truck, he drives away. I went outside and chased after him but he was gone. Immediately I checked the tracking, and it said Attempted Delivery, attempted my @$$, he was not even seen. I called in to see if they could tell him to turn around and deliver the package, but they said tomorrow he can redeliver. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow at the time they always come at. I go on their site to complain, there's no complaint section! Great work Purolator, great work... Next time, I will definitely have a camcorder ready.
Well mine was taken care of because I [censor]ed like crazy to get it delivered again. Only one person actually responded in a way to get my package delivered. Now the driver knows to come and deliver the package every time.
Hello. I paid $ 42 to send a shipment from Toronto to Ottawa. I was told ( promised )the shipment will be delivered May 04, 2011, before 5 pm. Today, May 05, 2011, the shipment not delivered, and Purolator doesn't know where my shipment is. For what did i pay $ 42 ? Where my shipment is ? what kind of business you run ? What kind of service you provide ? Let me know please.
"Purolator" meaning; poor-late-er... excuse for a delivery service.
I was a bit concerned about my new Iphone4 being delivered to my address on time. I simply could not be home for the exact drop off time on the Friday 1st after I had tracked the item and it was leaving Port Kells in the morning. So I phoned the Westgate Purolator office and I was told it could arrive at my door any time over a 5 hour period. I wasn't going to wait this long so I asked if it would go to the Westgate Purolator Office on 203rd in Maple Ridge BC. Yes i was told but you will have to pick it up on the following Monday. I agreed and waited for the Monday...today on April4th 2011 same day as my birthday! So at about 12:30pm I was at the Westgate 203rd Purolator depot but I was told my package has been mistakenly returned to Port Kells. Later on this day...I just spent some time re-tracking the shipping # and realised according to the tracking that I could go back to Westgate Purolator and still have my Iphone...so I called Cindy at about 4:30 pm april4th and she said No sorry but there has been no drop off of your parcel and you can come in tomorrow on Tue. 5th
So who is telling me what and who is not? Or why is the tracking wrong? Or is it policy to treat customers like they cant read. I took the time to copy info to my word pro. this is what I have...

contract breech
I needed to ship a package to Singapore quickly. The company that offers the fastest service, two to three days, was Purolator. The cost of shipping my three pound packages was around 280 dollars. I was assured that my client would have received it in three days tops. I shipped on November 31, my package did not even arrive in Singapore Customs until the December the 4th. Then Purolator decided had some problem with the address. My client did give me an incorrect street address so, on the sixth, when they went to deliver the package they couldn't find the building (even though the apartment building number was correct and that the name of the Owner is on the address board in the entrance way and the owner has to show ID and sign for the package) So, instead of putting two and two together they took the package back to their little fortress of oblivion Where it waited. Yes it waited until, checking in on my client I found out that it had not been delivered. I phoned the company and they explained their little problem with the address. Never mind that I could find the building on google maps and that the apartment number of the client is written right next to the front door, I gave the person on the phone the correct address so they could ship the package and the t elephone number of my client - but here's the catch, in Singapore, if a package is not delivered on the first attempt, they send it over to UPS. Now if there are any future problems with the package there is no way for me to contact UPS directly with a Purolator tracking number so Purolator has to act as go between.
Here's the funny part. Two days later, when the package should have been delivered (because on the phone I was assured that it would be in just another two days) I get a phone call from a logistics manager for Purolator informing me that the package can not be delivered because of an incorrect address. "Oh I see", I say, so you did not get the confirmed address AND you have no idea how to use google earth. "Confirmed address?" she inquires. "Yes", I reply, "I phoned in two days ago to tell you about the apartment number and in case that failed on which wall in the foyer my client's apartment number could be found and reminded them that I had also given them his phone number. Did they not send this information already over to UPS? Did they not already have the package on its way? Where was my package? Which company had it and where did it go? Apparently not. Sorry sir the package will be delivered in two days (a mantra they are taught to repeat). That was four days ago and my client has still not received his package either from Purolator, or the agent I never authorized - UPS.
Purolator is a gross violator of basic contract law. There is nothing in fine or large print given to customers that points out their right to transfer services to an intermediate company. Their customer complaints line is non-existent, and they have no policy of refund in the event of failed performance of contractual duties, meaning, although it would be easy to win, you have to small claims them in court (under either tort or contract) over your shipping fee. This is hardly worth the time away from the office. In short, just don't deal with these half-witted bungling fools, if you are involved in import export like I am, they will only make you look like a fool in front of your customers. Since because of their negligence in performing their duties under contract, I was unable to perform mine (product sample shipment in a timely manner). Bottom line, gross loss = 12G in sales. Thank you Purolator - I want my 12G and 280 something dollars back. Oh yeah, and you suck!

Well first off, I have noticed that sometimes a delivery attempt does happen but unfortunately for us, they deliver to businesses from the rear. Our front door is open but our shipping door remains locked without the code. The regular guy knows the code but is discrete enough not to blab it around so the temp couldnt get in and then dropped our goods at the depot next door.
Due to the length of their runs a lot of times they simply do not have time to run around looking for an entrance at every stop. Thus the guidelines were put in place, and they make sense: Deliver to homes from the front door and businesses from the rear where shipping is usually located; also do not drop off if someone over 18 was not available to sign.
As for RONA, I wouldnt take responsibility either, they are just a holding center with no further agreement or association with Purolator. Why, in all reason would they? What are they going to do about it anyway? Fire they guy? Different company man, just a contract holding center to keep purolators costs down.
