service
Saturday, October 6th, I waited about an hour to get called back at the Naples Health Park location in Naples Florida. I did not have any paperwork as I had seen my doctor very late on Friday and they were to fax it. Well, that location did not have it. Not blaming Quest For that. But an employee by the name of Nerlita ( she wrote her name on one of the Quest Diagnostic business cards). Appeared to have compassion for my situation. I have had uncontrollable diarrhea for 3 weeks and I'm flying on a long trip in 3 days. The doctor needs labs in order to treat me. She told me to go to the Quest Diagnostics on Davis. I told her I teach school and must be at work by 6:30. Nerlita said, " I will be there at 6:15. " I got there at 6:15 after a 30 minute drive. There was no one there. I left a note. They called me at work and said they had no idea why I thought they would be open that early and they did not even take labs, nor did they have any idea who Nerlita was! So after school I drove like a mad woman to get back to the Naples health park Quest Diagnostic. I got there 5 minutes before they closed. The lights were out and everything was locked. They had closed before they were supposed to! I did get their attention as they were unlocking a door to let people out and they denied closing early. I shared that I was really getting the runaround from their company. The tall gentleman was extremely rude to me. I have to go back to THIS location again tomorrow. I will let you know if they close early again. It was a huge hardship for me to get there at 450 and to find them closed and treat me so rudely was beyond anything I can think of. I still can't figure out why the gal named Arleta sent me on a wild goose chase to a place that doesn't even take labs. They do MRIs and x-rays. What was her motivation?
phlebotomist hit the nerve
On 09-20-18 I was sent by my Doctor to go to a Lab for blood work. I had another Doctors appointment the same day so I decided to go get my blood work the next day. The next day I went to a Quest Diagnostics near me (3014 37th St, Astoria, NY).
I arrived around 3 pm, the technician asked me if I had an appointment, I said I tried to make an appointment online, but I was not able to do it, the system kept kicking me out and, so I decided to walk-in. The technician told me that she wasn't sure if she could take me, even though there was nobody sitting in the waiting room, if someone comes in with an appointment, she would have to take them before me, I said, ok no problem, I can wait... but I could see that she wasn't pleased to do any work after 3 pm... I signed in in the PAD and sat down and waited for my turn. After 10m she called me to take my insurance info, then I went back to the waiting room a couple of minutes later, another walk-in entered the room. After waiting for about 20 m, she called me to do my blood work. I walked straight ahead towards the other doors thinking someone else was there to take my blood but, to my surprise, she told me to come into a small area right behind the reception area and then she proceeds to do the prep work. I recall saying "you're going to take my blood? Wow, you do it all around here? She said, Yes, I can do blood work. I removed my jacket and sat down and extended my arm out, because there was no armrest in the chair and not knowing where to place my arm... she grabbed my arm and rested my arm over the counter, which resulted in an upward position in relation to the rest of my body... I remember thinking, shouldn't I have my arm in a straight out position instead of upward...? I recall telling her, I had some blood taken the day before on my left arm, and if maybe, wouldn't be better to take blood on my other arm? She said it's not a problem. I then turned my head to the wall, so I wouldn't see her poking my arm. She placed the rubber band above my elbow crease, and in a few secs she begins to poke me in my arm, I immediately complained of the excruciating pain from the needle insertion, but she refused to withdraw the needle until she was finished drawing blood, ignoring my complaints...
I thought that she must have hit the nerve because of the pain, I felt it going down all the way to my index finger. I explained to her how it felt, like when someone gets hit in the funny bone, but worse, way more intense. It felt like, a bolt of electricity ran down my arm to my hand, and after she removed the needle it felt like it was on fire just above my wrist... she said:" wow, that must have been uncomfortable..." like if that was almost normal, like that happens sometimes...
I've have had my blood drawn lots of times before in my life, and this has never happened to me before.
Well, it has been almost a week now, and I still feel a shooting pain down to my index finger when I try to stretch my arm out to grab something. I am in a great deal of pain - under my arm, above my wrist, a portion of my left hand, the thumb and index and middle finger feel tingling and numb.
I told my doctor about it, and she recommended me to make a complaint and to have my arm checked out.
I'm going now to see a neurologist to get a electromyography (EMG) test done.
phone service just hung up and/or transfer from one place to another
AFTER five phone calls asking for Insurance question on SEpt. 26, 2018 9:05 last call. Two days ago it was easy to contact the above department, but today it was ridiculously impossible. Every representatative told me to wait and then transferred me and the last one that didn't even listen, only told me that billing was not the department to handle that (I don't know why I was transferred to billing) woudln't stop talk and never once listen..all he wanted to do was to get rid of me and talk me out of receiving an answer, finally he said he would transfer me and hung up.
My question was simple, I wanted t oknow if the insurance would cover my test.
To make the call unbearable there was this recording that unlike other recordings, would not stop even for a second and it was a verbal assault that lasted for over half an hour, being transferred from here to there with that non-stop recording saying the same things over a thousand times. What an assault! Way to go Quest!
unsanitary environment during blood work
My husband went in for blood work at the Long Beach, CA location on Downey Ave at 7:30am. He was called at approximately 8:25am. The man doing the bloodwork was sniffling and rubbing his dripping nose while inputting my husbands information and the the worker grabbed gloves to proceed to draw blood from my husband. I dameanded he wash his hands and throw away the contaminated glove box before touching my husband to draw blood. I want this documented because of my husband catches an infection from your employees unsanitary work ethics I will sue for medical malpractice. I told the office manager and she didn't seem concerned. I've alre told my lawyer about this incident and I'm appauled that a medical facility isn't more careful as to avoid unsanitary situations.
pre employment drug screening
I registered for quest diagnostics to take a pre employment drug screen.
I walked And the tech did my test registration and requested a sample.
I had issues with the first sample, which was not a valid sample and could not be used for testing.
I offered to re-test, and was denied the ability to retest by the lab technician who said that they were closing soon, and did not have time to wait for me.
In the technicians report, he stated that I refused to retest, which for my employment onbaording team is an automatic failure.
What was a stupid mistake in dropping the sample cup, turned into me losing the opportunity, and having a failure reported. The lab technician was dishoneet and I feel that he should have to answer for that.
check in @ quest office
My daughter (Angelique Rodriguez and I went to the 40 Temple St. New Haven CT. Office 8/31/18 @ 8:30 -9:15 am. About 6 people checked in and ended walking out. One patient had an appt. Every time someone tried to speak to the attendant she would tell them check in first. She wouldn't answer questions ..absolutely rude. The lady with the appt. Kept asking if she was in the right place and again the person rudely told her to check in. Then she (attendant) prompted her to state what her testing was for in front of everyone. The lady took offense to her questioning personal information instead of looking at her lab request sheet. And walked out. This type of behavior has gone on for over a month (stated in your reviews) and you have apparently done nothing. After waiting for more then a half hour my daughter was told that the person in charge of Urine analyzes was not there. This person needs to be reprimanded.
----------------------------------------------'-----------
We left and went to Quest :172 Wash. Ave. North Haven CT.06473... 8/31/18 @ 11:30 service was excellent only one person there. Polite, efficient and quick.Didn't need two people for urine analyzes.
driver
One of your drivers needs almost hit me on I-25 in Colorado. We both got off at the Hampden exit and I gave him a dirty look and he started yelling ugly [censored] at me. He then proceeded to weave in and out of traffic putting others in danger. This was at 6:33pm on Friday 8-24-18. Vehicle number is 11659 and the plate is 007-XMG. This is unacceptable and I would like it addressed asap. I'm sure this is not the image your company is trying to have and I'm sure you don't want your vehicle wrecked. I am appalled there is a person driving a company vehicle with the ball's to act this way.
driver 11658
Almost caused an accident after getting off I15 northbound at the pleasant Grove exit. Cut off a line of traffic, slammed on their brakes, then flew into the left turn lane almost hitting the car in front.
Car was number 11658 if this is seen again we will be calling the local police department this driving esspecially in a company car is unbelievable.
trying to extort money from patients
My regular dr. Uses quest labs when his own lab people are out or when they call in sick and no one is available. He's sent me to them 2 times before. The first time was about three years ago, and all I did was walk in, tell them my dr. S name, they took blood, and I walked out. No muss, no fuss.
Earlier this year my dr. Sent me to quest again, since his lab people didn't show up for work. I showed up, I told them my dr. S name and they asked "how do you want to pay"? I said "i'm here at my dr. S request, he uses you people when his are out. I never pay for this." she said quest started charging for their services regardless of any doctors having contracts with them or not. I got up to walk out, and all of a sudden her tune changed! She said "we can bill your insurance company". I told her thats what they are supposed to be doing in the first place, not trying to extort money from patients who's dr. S have contacts with them!
Recently I went to another dr. And he wanted a bunch of bloodwork done. He said he didn't have a lab, that he sends his patients to the quest across the street that he has a contract with. So I show up to this quest office and they want a credit card for payment?! I told the woman I wasn't giving them my credit card, and that the dr. Said he had a contract with this office. She said it didn't matter, they needed a credit card. I told her my insurance pays for all of the tests and she said "we don't have proof of that". She said "we need proof from your insurance company that they will pay". So I spent two hours on the phone with my insurance company who in turn got quest customer service on the phone. We went through all of the different procedures the dr. Was asking for, and the quest customer service guy said that all of the procedures are standard and are all covered by my insurance, so I won't have to pay anything.
So I went back to the quest office. They didn't even ask me for my insurance information this time! They just put me in a booth and had my blood taken and then I was out of there! Why did'nt this happen the first time, like it was supposed too?
Quest obviously is trying to extort extra money from patients, even from those who have doctors with contracts!
And even after spending hours on the phone with my insurance company and quests customer service rep... Both of which told me I would not be paying anything out of pocket, I get a bill in the mail this week from quest!
I am going to have to tell my dr. S they need a contract with an honest lab company! Quest is trying to extort money from their patients! I will never set foot in another quest office as long as I live! If my dr. Wants bllodwork done, he's going to have to do it himself or use a different lab company!
unethical treatment
I went to Quest Diagnostics in Sarasota, Florida last week to have my blood drawn pursuant to my doctor's request. I made an appointment online in the morning since I was fasting. I arrived at Quest, signed in and waited until I was called. I was called and told to go to Room 3 where my blood was going to be drawn or so I thought. Once the technician came into the room she started entering my information into the computer. After a few minutes, she stopped, turned to me and asked if I knew I had a balance. I told her no I did not. She then proceeded to tell me that I needed to pay $256 in order for my blood to be drawn today. I told her I did not have $256 to pay today. She told me that if I did not pay $256 the computer would not let her go any further to enter the blood tests I needed. I told her I did not have $256 to pay right now and told me I would have to contact Quest billing to work it out. I could not believe that I was being denied due to a past due balance that I did not even know I had. I have thyroid cancer and I have had it for over 25 years. Not once in the past 25+ years have I have never been denied my blood being drawn because of a past due balance.

On April 17, 2018 I saw Julie White a PA at Florida Dermatology for the first time. I have a condition called guttate psoriasis. I have had this condition for years and have always been prescribed Methotrexate for it. Miss White said she was was not comfortable prescribing the Methotrexate and suggested Humira. I didn't know anything about Humira but I figured she knew what she was doing. She said that I would have to have blood work first before I could get it. I already had a breakout on my side and it spreads rapidly so I went immediately to Quest in Inverness, Florida. Upon arrival I signed in and waited. When my name was called I was told that they only do these tests after 2 p.m. I returned that afternoon only to be told that the system was down and they couldn't do the tests. The next day April 18, 2018 I decided to go to Quest in Beverly Hills, Florida for the tests because it was closer to my house. By now my psoriasis had already spread to my arms and stomach and was getting worse. When I arrived at Quest and signed in and waited. When they called my name I was told that I had to sign a form because Medicare might not pay for these tests. I didn't understand I have been getting blood work at Quest for years and Medicare has never refused to pay. Why would Miss White order blood work knowing that I was on Medicare that would not meet Medicare approval. I said that I would like to make a phone call to Medicare to be sure. I could not get a signal so I went outside but still could not get a signal anywhere. I went back inside and was told that it was really hard to get a signal in this area. I asked what would happen if I signed the form and Medicare didn't pay? I was told that Medicare probably would pay but if I didn't sign I couldn't get the blood work and there were other patients waiting. I was upset and very stressed. I felt pressured. If I didn't get the blood work I couldn't get the Humira and my psoriasis would keep spreading. I was desperate and didn't know what to do. I felt like I had no choice but to sign honestly believing that Medicare would pay. I was not told what the charges would be. I thought that if Medicare didn't pay all I would have to pay would be what Medicare would have paid had the charges been approved it.
I am asking that considering all of the circumstances that you would please reconsider these charges.
I have always been pleased with Quest services and I really don't like to complain but I am on SS and can't afford to pay $172.06
thank you so much for your attention in this matter,
Connie Smith
unauthorized charges on my credit card
Quest Diagnostics has charge my credit card numerous times without my permission and refused to put the funds back to my car this is illegal and their companies should be out of business no one should have to deal with this. They will lie and say the charges will be reversed and a supervisor will call you back and they never do. after several attempts to get this resolved I had to contact my credit card company to have these charges Reserve reverse they waited a few weeks and then start trying to charge my card again sending me a message saying that I set up for easy pay
unfriendly and unprofessional staff member
each time i have gone into this location,
7528 Frankford Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19136,
one of the staff members has been extremely rude. today... july 17, 2018... I was waiting out front with another woman for the doors to open once they came back in from lunch, the staff member immediately began being loud and obnoxious about her "banging on the door". this woman had not banged on the door at all, i was standing there the entire time. to be yelling at a patient like that in front of other patients for something that hadnt occurred is extremely unprofessional. i have dealt with this lady on several occassions and her demeanor and lack of respect for the patients is unnecessary and uncalled for. i chose to leave because i will not subject myself to that any longer but its unfortunate as this location is convenient to my home. maybe some sympathy training would do this woman some good or possibly some time off if her personal life is effecting her work and be an overall better establishment.
unprofessional
I went to have my blood work drawn this morning by a lady named Stacy, at the quest diagnostics Lab, located at the Eastlake professional Center this morning. When I was making conversation about wanting to say "hello "to another employee, I had seen for years, who was not currently there, she was openly hostile, belittling, and just a general very angry and inprofessional person. This is not the first time I have met openly difficult amd rude lab techs. Who is in charge of monitoring these phlebotomists? Because it is despicable to put any client in a position of feeling uncomfortable, vulnerable, and defensive, when a needle is coming at them! I will never go here again, or any other quest lab, for that matter! I am a family nurse practitioner, who deals with people and their problems all day long, I would be either "fired" or at the very least, Written up, if I spoke to patients the way this lady did to me. It is unacceptable…
spouse's test results sent to me - how is this not a hipaa violation?
Yesterday I received my spouse's lab results -they were addressed to me. Working in healthcare I can not see how this is not a HIPAA violation. I am not his guarantor - rather I am the policy holder. On their site, Quest claims what I have quoted below. However, I didn't JUST receive an invoice, I received his lab results. How does this not violate HIPAA?
"The policyholder is responsible for payment of co-insurance, co-payments and or deductibles incurred for covered services provided to you as a covered dependent. If the invoice is addressed to your spouse, it is likely your spouse is the insurance policyholder."
Am having a problem now with Quest and was told to file a complaint with their Collegeville PA office and with Health and Human Services. Since they sent you his information he should file a HIPPA complaint with the Office of Civil Rights.
What I am having a problem with is our state doesn't have a regulatory agency that oversees the labs. Why? Years ago, when the new TBGold came out, I tested positive for TB. Not once, not twice but three times. Each time I had the test cost me $250. I went through a year of Isoniazid therapy and had to see an infectious disease doctor every other month before I was cleared. I may interest you that with TB, it goes dormant in your body, but you always have it. That is why after being diagnosed you have to have a chest x-ray. Anyway, my new rheumatologist ordered blood work and one of the tests was the TBGold. I asked and he said it was negative. I then had a TB test that checked your DNA, that too was negative. Turns out I never had TB. Who do I complain if they are not regulated?
accessing test results online
After receiving an email saying my test results were ready at the MyQuest website I logged on, entered my ID and the last password I had used. each time I got an authentication error notice.
Tried using the password reset but the email they sent didn't work only resulting in the same authentication failure.
There is no telephone customer service so for 2 weeks now I have not been able to see my test results
service - my son's labs were lost
June 1st 2018 I took my 4 year old son in to have labs drawn for his FU appt with his allergist. he was scared like any other child getting a needle in their arm so he cried and screamed the whole time. Today we go to the FU appt with the allergist only to be they never received the results. The nurse called Quest and was told they didn't have my son in their system at all as a patient. How do you lose 5 tubes o blood. There was no one else in the location I took him too so they should have never lost his samples. That is your job, to make sure you draw the correct amount of blood in the correct tube and make sure you correctly label and place the sample where it needs to go. I need answers. what is going to be done? this is not ok, and I refuse to have my son go threw that again because of your companies mistakes. My son's name is Cesar Eduardo-Daniel Castillo
lab test billing
I did a lab test last year with this company and submitted my check for my bill of $1097.92 and quest didn't submit my bill to the right address of my insurance company and quest said they sent me my money back in December 2017, but I never received my money back, I told them on phone with customer service that I never recieved the money back and they just accuse me of not telling truth when I am telling truth I never really recieved money back, also wrote a note to customer service and repeated that I didn't receive my money back, they won't listen to me or even check on this for me like I requested.i been customer for over30 years with no problems till the rude quest pulls stunts like this, they want me to pay another $1097.92 to them when the test don't even cost that much, it's not fair to make me pay over two thousand dollars for a simple blood test panel, I would like this investigated for frauding customer and being non compliant to customer when quest should listen to customer instead of turning you into collections agency, my name is Shuri Wojan, lab code -WHC, invoice number is [protected] date of service April 24, 2017 amount $1097.92, please someone look into this and get them to clear me and get my money back that is due me, my email is, [protected]@ymail.com for response, thank you. Shuri W.
