Refund promised but not processed
On October 25th, 2022, my mother and I paid for two nights at the Red Roof Inn - Huber Heights, Ohio. However the heater was not working at all and because of my mother's disability, we had to stay the first night in the room because it was the only one with a walk-in handicapped shower. But because it was so cold that night without the heater, my mother and I decided to find different accommodations for the second night. I informed the front desk the next morning (it was a Sunday) and was told the person that processes the refunds was not available until either Monday or Tuesday, and was promised verbally that the second night would be refunded.
Almost a week later, the charge from Red Roof Inn was still on my bank account and I had tried to contact the front desk via phone with no success (it wouldn't even connect me to the desk after multiple dials). So I disputed the transaction with the bank. Then on January 9th, 2023, I received a resolution letter from the bank stating that the refund claim had been denied and I will not be refunded the $198.82 that was for the full two nights, even though we spent the first night with a broken heater in October and didn't even use the second night.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund for at least the second night that we didn't use due to the broken heater.
Horrible customer service
Whoever the girl is that is working today 1/3/2023 at the Independence location is the rudest hospitality person I've ever dealt with. She might need to reconsider what line of work is for her. A simple question could not be answered with courtesy or common sense. I'm not rude to anyone and I don't appreciate being talked to like an idiot for simply asking...

We have stayed at the Red Roof in Baldwin Fl for a number of years, plus a few other Red Roofs throughout the country.
We had reservations at the Red Roof in Baldwin for the evening of Wednesday December 28th. We live in the Buffalo area and we got socked with a blizzard. We had to cancel because we couldn't leave the area. I have never had to cancel a reservation before. I went on your website and followed the promps to cancel. Never heard back for a cancelation notice. so I cancelled again. So nothing about a cancellation from Redroof. Never having to cancel before I mistakenly assumed you didn't send out cancellation notices. Checked our credit account the next day, and found out we were charged for the room. I called and person said because I didn't produce a cancellation number that they couldn't cancel it. I repeatedly told them that I did cancel it, but to no avail.
All the times that we've stayed at Red Roof, and that's the way they treat their guests? So, we will NEVER stay at a Red Roof again, nor ever recommend them to our friends.

Hotel room
The first room we where given we entered and the safety latch was broken off door. My wife uses bathroom notices no towels. Go to desk and they say come back in hour. Next go back to room heat is not working..30 degrees out no heat. go back to desk and give us another room in back of hotel. Far back corner near a different door bags of garbage leaning against door with beer cans. Get into 2nd room wife goes to use bathroom again no toilet paper. Also 2 beds 3 pillows not a big problem but whats the problem. Go back into bathroom and notice hole in wall and looks to be urine on floor. So after 10hrs of driving we have a [censored] room. Ok figure we will live with it to tired to go elsewhere. Take shower and of course tub not draining. Later go to get more stuff out of car and notice interior door handle taped in place and secondary back up safety latch not catching.
Possibly the worst motel in years. Down right embarrassment to the chain.

Room 127
After driving many hours and arriving at 2:30am, we checked into the Red Roof Inn in Williams, AZ. We were given room 127. It was the worst hotel room we have ever stayed in. There was no handle to the bathroom door, only a hole where the handle should be. The toilet paper holder was not installed on the wall, only holes where it should be. The window in the bathroom didn't close properly so freezing temperatures were leaking into the room. The bathmat hanging over the tub was dirty with a long hair coming off of it. The baseboards and door trim were filthy. The front door chain was broken and secured with a zip tie. We were travelling across the country and had 3 more nights reserved at Red Roof Inns in different cities. We CANCELLED all of them and stayed at Marriott properties which are so nice and clean. After reading all of these complaints, the conclusion is that the whole chain of Red Roof Inns needs to be shut down. The president of this company should be ashamed. (Also, this site is lame. My pictures are facing the correct way, but when I import them they are turned on their side.)

Kept my deposit
They charged a security 12/17/22 for the room. They said we would get it back 12/18/22. We did not get it back, so I called them to ask why and they said the maid said the room smelled like smoke. First off we don't smoke so we argued. Then they refunded 50.00 dollars back but if that room smelled like smoke they shouldn't have refunded so this seems weird to me. I said it before and I'll say it again we don't smoke! I should have read the reviews before I booked it but I didn't and when I did read them alot of people say they kept their deposits also. They don't have a working vent in the bathroom either.
Overall satisfaction... Just gross
We recently stayed at the RED ROOF Plus on Jamaican Court in Orlando. The property should be condemned. We were in house from December 11-17, 2022. And before you ask, we went to the front desk EVERY DAY over these issues.
1. Moved rooms twice as they were gross. Paint peeling off walls, tubs and doors. Overall smell of fresh paint however there was no paint.
2. No towels. How does a hotel have no towels? We had to request housekeepers, they didn't clean, they tidied up. The never moped the floors.
3. No soap, no toilet paper. We were told that the housekeepers area was locked up.
4. Cockroaches like nothing else.
5. The TV never worked, it finally fell off the wall. More roaches came out of it.
6. The toilet broke, wouldn't flush. I ended up fixing it myself.
7. No microwave and the refrigerator was iced up.
When Juan the front desk was the MOD. He kept telling us there was nothing he could do. One front desk agent was going to comp us a couple nights, that never happened.
This property is full of working girls, drugs and other illicit activity. I would never stay there again.
Desired outcome: We would like a refund, a comp, anything. We paid our bill, and what was a deposit for? We were never refunded that either.
Pitbull attack onsite 12/10/22
My name is Deborah Mintz I am a guest at the Red Roof Inn located at 1800 Walnut Rd Cary, NC 28516. I arrived apx about 3 weeks the first week I booked thru Priceline and was in Rm 129. After I checked out I checked in directly thru Red Roof Inn and enrolled in your Redi point plan and I was moved to Rm 126 which was a nice room with a microwave and refrigerator. My complaint starts the very first date I was moved to Rm 126, I work remotely for Terminix. The very first day I was moved to Rm 126 I was on the phone with a customer and all of a sudden my door just swings open, there was no knock no warning and there were two men standing in the doorway of my room. I was on the phone with a customer so this whole interaction was recorded. I asked the men who the hell they were and immediately told them to get the hell out of my room. One of the men actually asked me "when did you arrive?' I was flabbergasted hell I have been here now going on two weeks. He then said "I am a manager and one of the clerks must have forgot to move you to this room." That made no sense to me as I actually had to officially check out of Rm 129 under my Priceline booking and then make a whole new booking thru Red Roof so I can get a lower weekly rate and enjoy the Redi point. That was my first encounter with your manager Mit. He never apologized, never compensated me for the interruption nothing.
As I stated I was moved to Rm 126 and I noticed a tall thin man who would wander the halls, follow people (guests ) to their rooms and ask for rides to the store, ask them to do their laundry, and you can see him standing at the doors facing the parking lot and him just watching the parking lots for hours waiting for new guests to come in and out and then approaching them for various reasons, I could tell the man appeared to be on drugs so I stayed away from him the best I could but we are both booked on the same floor in the same building.
On 12/10/22 I was in my room located on the first floor and I started hearing a woman screaming running up and down the hallway, "Give me my [censored]ing money Rick" "I am gonna call the cops on you, you can't just take my [censored]ing money." Etc Etc. I stepped out of my room and saw a blond haired woman chasing this man "Rick" who I have identified as the tall man on drugs that had been following me around asking for rides, lighters etc etc. I called the manager Mit and explained to him there was a woman screaming running up and down the hall." Mit said "I'll take care of it." I hung up and after a few minutes the noise stopped. Around 2:30 pm I attempted to take my 3 month old puppy for a walk and exited the door facing towards the parking lot. As I came out the door I noticed Rick and the blond woman sitting
on a bench in the smoking designated section. I could not see all of them due to the cars in front of him. Rick immediately asked me for a lighter and as I spoke to him I heard very aggressive barking of dogs and then I heard "Oh damn" and two big pit bulls came charging around the corner of the car and attacked my puppy Xena who is only three months old. I had Xena on leash as the law dictates and I immediately tried to jerk the leash to me where I could pick her up but the Pitbull were to fast and had her pinned to the ground on her back trying to get at her neck, Iran for the door trying to drag the leash with me so I could get her inside and get the door between the Pitbull and Xena. I finally got Xena to roll on her feet and got back in the building. As I entered the building I saw your Red Roof Maintenance man standing in the doorway watching this whole interaction. I am not blaming the employee as I know he would have put his on safety in jeopardy, but I immediately told him I wanted a manager right now and made my way back to my room 126 so I could check Xena for injuries. After checking Xena for injuries I called the front desk and spoke to Mit and explained what happened that me and my dog were attacked by Rick's Pitbull's. Mit said he would watch the video, he never asked me if me or my dog was okay, never asked if I needed medical attention nothing. I sat in that room terrified not knowing if the guest was asked to leave or the Pitbull's were removed, no one came to my door, not a cop, not a member of management nothing. My dog is now traumatized every time I try and take her outside she is scared trying to hide behind me, wary of human etc I believe she is in shock. After hearing nothing from management I approached the front desk on 12/11/22 at apx 6:30 am and spoke to a lovely young lady named Araya who was the desk clerk, she had not been informed of the incident, could not tell me if the guest left the property or the dogs were removed from the property. What she did tell
me was that this individual had numerous customer complaints about "him following guests to their rooms, standing at the doors and peering outside at nothing for hours and generally making guests feel uncomfortable" so in my mind management knew this man was a problem way before me and my dog were attacked. I again advised Araya that Mit had made no contact with me, had not come to my room to speak with me, or called my cell phone to inquire about the health of my puppy nothing. I left my number with Araya and asked to be contacted so I could relax and not feel so scared. I have heard absolutely nothing from this man. On 12/12/22 I was going to walk Xena and exited out of the door facing the parking lot and what do I see? Ricks car parked right back in the same space as he had used previously and was placed in My building. I was livid. I went back to the front desk and spoke to Araya and advised her Rick was back and that he was only gone for 24 hours after having animals out of his control that attacked me and my Xena. This is your notice, I am recording everything, taking pictures of everything if this corporation does not care about my safety or my dogs safety I will be documenting everything so that if something happens to me or my dog I have the evidence I need to sue the [censored] out of you which I absolutely intend to do. You have placed an individual on drugs back in a building where I was attacked and even knowing that numerous other guests had customer complaints about this man following them, approaching them asking for money, rides, lighters etc you have placed him back in the building with me. This is your notice I have already taken pictures oh his tag and where he is located relevant to me.
I cannot believe RedRoof Inn would employ a manager with such a clear disdain of customer safety and security and that noone has contacted me to see if I or Xena is okay. I will be adding this to your reviews on Priceline and Redroofs website no guest should have to fear for their safety and the culprit be allowed to come back to victimize them further.

Good afternoon I'm writing you today because my wife and I are highly disappointed and honestly frightened at the terrible experience we had at one of your hotels. It's been about 4 or 5 years since we've used any red roof and most likely will not be staying or recommending red roof to anyone I'll just briefly tell you how it went and the problems we had. But 1st I tried emailing guest relations and got absolutely no where so when I seen a different email on my receipt I figured I'd try to get threw to anyone at this point so here we are.
Sunday we unfortunately became homeless we were in a hurry to find a cheap semi nice any where some where to sleep as long as we weren't outside I was okay with it well goin against my better judgement I figure it's been some years maybe they've got a hold and changed something's around so I booked us a room at the red roof on Arlington in akron Ohio well let's just say from check it was already not pleasant the front desk was rude now they have redi rewards or whatever I had no idea about so I let it go when I seen the room online for $44 and they ended up charging us $64 that's $20 but they said there wasn't anything they could do my wife's been in customer service for some time now and she knows the customer is always right and you want customers right and you want them to come back well then ya might want to be sure their happy and satisfied but not these front desk people they booked the room and sent us on our way we get to the room the key card didn't work mind you were carrying all of our bags so I put the bags down and go to the front desk to let them know bout the problem they sigh with an attitude as if made the card stop working so I politely walk away get into the room and then here's where the list is never ending...the bathroom had no wash clothes the towels felt and looked freshly used the wasn only a half of a roll of toilet paper the sheets and blankets smelled like pee and we're also dirty and or stained go to put our clothes aways and two of the drawers are screwed shut they don't offer or have a microwave coffee or or a refrigerator which is just strange like people have money to oder and dine out everyday on top of paying for a room ? It's non smoking so we go outside to smoke some guy idek if he was even stayin at the hotel or not was power walking damn near knocked my wife over and rudley said he out the way turns around and walks back to ask us if we could score drugs and or a needle we immediately go inside to turn on the tv and there's no cable call down to the front desk it took 6 times to even get them to answer the phone when they did they said there's nothing more they could do about it so that went no where so now we're getting ready for bed and we here a bunch of commotions the cops come and arrest someone because apparently they were getting into the rooms some how and leaving them open for whomever I work everyday so my wife would have had to stay alone until I wqs off she was so uncomfortable she asked to be taken to a friend's while I work so now I'm paying for a room were only sleeping in which is crazy to me the next morning we wake up to go get coffee in the front desk lobby but we are unable to do so because there wasn't any cups creamer or sugar and maybe a cup left of coffee disappointed we leave now threw all this every time we left our room we came back and the key card wouldn't work so we would have to walk back to the front desk for them to fix it apparently my father in law tried calling and got three ti someone else that wasn't us when he stated who he was and if his daughter were there the lady said um well doesn't she have a cell phone shocked father in law responded if she did don't you think I'd be calling her cell phone? And they hung up. This hotel stay was even worse than before nothinggot done about the rift raft that had stoped us from staying here in the first place only got worse and had less things to offer while you stay there and the staff had just gotten worse as if they didn't even care to keep the job because they were getting paid to be there anyways. But since ever near or around doesn't have any rooms beside the red roof we are stuck with no where else to do or do so my father in law today went and asked if we could move rooms since the tv didn't work and once again we were told there was nothing they could do about it so well will not be stayin here ever again my wife who is very stuck up up class lady so for her to say she's rather sleep outside is definitely just flabbergasting and now I feel terrible because we have to be here.

Booked 3 nights at Red Roof Inn in Marion, VA. Upon arrival in the room, notice how dirty it was. Then, notice the cockroaches.
Went to the front desk and told them we weren’t staying and wanted a refund.
It’s been 12 days and I’ve called the corporate line 3 times to no avail. The property simply ignores my email and calls. Got an email today from the Franchise Director stating they would not be refunding my money. Absolutely unbelievable.
Red Roof Inn stole 251.25 dollars from us.

Disgusting room
Newark, Delaware Red Roof Inn, October 13, 2022.
Dozens of small cockroaches on bedside table.
Light over fridge barely works.
TV cuts off sides of the picture.
Plastic bag, hair and other grossness in bath drain.
Window curtain doesn’t cover both sides of the window, letting in tons of light.
Toilet seat barely attached.
Bathroom sink has sharp plastic sticking out of it.
Nice guy came with a spray bottle. He squashed a bunch of cockroaches but didn’t spray anything. He couldn’t figure out how to make the TV aspect ratio correct. He did agree that the light barely worked. He said that all these things will be fixed tomorrow. I didn’t see the disgusting bathtub drain until after he left. Hopefully I won’t have too many cockroaches swarming over my face and my pillow tonight. I couldn’t take a shower; there was a small plastic baggie in the neck of the drain, covering wads of hair and other grossness in the drain trap.
I called three different Red Roof customer service phone numbers.
The person that I did end up speaking to said that there’s nothing he can do until tomorrow. I asked him to find somebody other than the front desk to guarantee that I would get my money back when I found a less disgusting hotel. I asked if there was another area Red Roof hotel that I could go to tomorrow and get a full refund for this joke of a hotel room. Their customer service department is not open 24 hours a day. This seems inappropriate for a company who offers service to its customers 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
Desired outcome: Refund of one night; I’ll be renting a different hotel room for the next two nights.
Cleanliness of room / unsupervised office / had to call police
we went to GA, for a wedding and we stayed at Red Roof Inn at LaGrange. GA.

We stayed in room #123 and at 1st sight we were happy the room was renovated, and appeared clean
However after walking on the floor in footies only I was shocked to find the bottoms BLACK. I took a washcloth and a hand towel and wet them and cleaned the floor. The cloths were BLACK.. I took these items to front desk and received new towels explained this to manager and also our bath tub wasnt clean,
I told the Mgr. that I was going to Walmart to buy cleaning supplies for bathroom,
and I did not want the cleaning staff in the room because of my puppy and valuables.
He said he'd remove a pet fee and also give us 10 percent of total balance.
REALLY? You ADVERTISE that if customers aren't 100 percent satisfied you will receive a free night stay. That's a lie. False Advertising.
My husband and I have been staying at Red Roof Inn for the past 2 years, and have always been happy,
Then the 2nd night we stayed we had to call the POLICE because there
was a man wondering around the parking lot screaming "MICHAEL"
at 2;30 in the morning waking SEVERAL Guests that were looking out their
doors, woke us up outta a complete sleep. EVERYTIME BOTH DAYS we stayed there the office was locked with a note BE BACK IN 5 MINUTES,
That was a VERY LONG 5 MINUTES bc THEY NEVER were in office
except the ONE time MGR. was there, and ALL THROUGHOUT our 2 day stay if you called the office EVERYTIME IT WAS BUSY, AND VERY OBVIOUS IT WAS OFF THE HOOK. We were TRYING to report issues, get internet password, find ice, etc.
Needless to say WE ARE NOT HAPPY. I would like to know what if anything you can or will do to satisfy us, bc we usually stay in Brookhaven several
times a year. We are in Atlanta EVERY MONTH.
I have pictures of the washcloth and hand towel AFTER I cleaned floor. They are on my cellphone, I am happy to send them to where you avdise.

Friday October 7 2022. Checked in about 7pm. Very long day travelling. Told by desk person back door could not be entered. In room the TV would not work.
Returned to the desk man did not speak English took our room number. After 15 to 20 minutes went back to front desk. No one was there so used the house phone. Man answered and said 10 minutes. I said then I want to check out, as room advertised a TV. He came down and eventually got TV to work. Got dinner and settled. Pulled back the bedspread that was filthy underneath with some kind of liquid all over it as seen in picture. Opened the fridge to find lower shelves had numerous hairs on it. In bathroom, brown crud all over toilet paper holder, and mold and hair in the bathtub we did not use. In bed, looked up and the smoke detector not functioning and hanging by one wire. I tried to contact the front desk about all these issues but never anyone attending it.
I have several more photos but they would not attach.

Staff parking in handicapped spaces
The staff at Hometowne Studios Mesquite always park in the handicapped spaces at the back which takes away the spaces for those of us who actually need them. Other customers without handicap placard or plate also park there but it's less egregious than the actual staff of the place doing so. It's been going on for more than a year and it needs to stop.
Desired outcome: Tell them to stop being lazy and park in a regular space There are plenty of empty regular spaces in the parking lot.
Unsolicited maintenance to a room occupied by guest .
This morning around 10:20 am a staff member knocked on the door and said he needed to check to see if the bathtub needed to be resealed , but we didn't report a leak . My fiance and I were having a serious conversation , and there was a (privacy please) sign on the outside of the door . This action was very rude and disrespectful, as guests should not be disturbed by something so trivial that could've been taken care of after we checked out (and he didn't even turn on the bathroom light before so-called checking the bathtub seal) . Besides that there are no other complaints , the room was neat and clean, not much noise, and ample lighting for the parking lot and walk ways .
Desired outcome: Don't disturb guest if it's something that can be taken care of after they check out .
Dirty
I stayed at the RRI in Wytheville, VA. It was absolutely disgusting.To get into our room with a key card it took several tries as the lock was falling off the door. As we opened the door the first thing we noticed was the walls were covered in mold and dirt as well as the furniture. The room had a weird smell to it. There were also bugs in which I felt I was getting bitten all night long. A fire alarm was missing from the wall along with a hairdryer? The TV had pixel damage. The mirrors were dirty. The ceiling in the bathroom was falling down and the tub was dirty. This was our upgrade room by the way. I felt so grossed out that I could not even shower there. I counted down the hours my family and I could leave. I have never packed my things so quickly to leave. I obviously did not expect this to be a 5 star hotel but I did expect to have some standard of cleanliness especially for a well known chain. I have a 8 month old baby and I was torn on disrupting his sleep to find another place to stay. This was unacceptable to the point that I do not believe I would ever stay at another Red Roof Inn in the future.
Desired outcome: I would love to receive a refund. I have never felt so disgusting staying at a hotel.
Refusal to accept a third party payment
I booked a room at the Red Roof Inn in Galloway, NJ from July 26 to Aug 1, 2022 through Agoda... This booking was made in January of 2022...when I got to the RRI after a long 7 hour drive...I was informed that my room was not paid for...I had documentation from Agoda to prove that the room was indeed paid for. The lady at the desk told me she didn't have any numbers for that confirmation. I asked if this was the first time she dealt with Agoda...her answer was no...she deals with them all the time...I said it must be a simple mistake...could she please call Agoda and correct the problem...she said she would not contact Agoda...There was not a number for Agoda on my documentation for me to call...so I had to make a phone call back to my wife in Pa. to get the phone number...My wife called Agoda...explained the problem...Agoda said they would contact the RRI in Galloway to solve the problem...Nothing...I called Agoda...they said the manager at the RRI in Galloway would not accept the confirmation number from Agoda...being it was late at night...the manager said she could book a room for me at twice the charge that Agoda was charging me...a complete rip off...a total scam...and there was nothing I could do about it...I certainly hope that this is not the way that Red Roof Inn instructs its managers to squeeze extra money out of its customers...this was a total disgrace...and everytime I have to make a payment to my Bank Of America credit card...my blood boils...
Desired outcome: The difference I had to pay Red Roof Inn and my Agoda bill or at least a three day credit at another Red Roof Inn in the future..
