To whom it may concern:
On April 6, 2018, I went to a Ross store located at N. Roanoke, VA 1416 Towne Square Blvd NW Roanoke, VA 24012.
I have shopped at this store on numerous occasions, while I haven't always been pleased with the quality of staff and customer service, I never thought it was necessary to contact the Corporate office until now.
At approximately 9:00pm on Friday, April 6, 2018, myself along with my son and his friend entered the Roanoke store. Like many times before, my son and his friend went to look at the athletic shoes while I shopped throughout the store. After they were trying on shoes, they approached me and said that a man was following them around. I noticed the man watching them intently and I assumed he was a secret-shopper or undercover Security for Ross, but I continued to keep an eye on them. The boys were doing nothing suspicious or wrong, so I wasn't overly concerned about his assumed Security role.
When we check out and pay for my items, I walk to my vehicle and the boys are coming a few minutes behind me and I noticed a couple of Ross employees and this same man that was watching them in the store are now in the parking lot glaring at me and watching the boys heading towards my vehicle. At this point it was somewhat intimidating because I wasn't sure what was happening, so the boys start running to the vehicle. As we drive off and leave Ross, the boys told me they were scared and did not understand why they were being followed so closely the entire time. I gave it some thought and when we got home, I called Ross store at 9:47pm to make sure there were no issues with our visit since the employees were keen on keeping an eye on the boys. An employee answered, and I requested to speak to the Manager who was working that night. I identified myself and he immediately knew who I was. He explained that the man, who I initially thought was undercover Security, was a customer. According to this Manager, this customer thought the boys came into the store with no shoes and they were walking around with shoes they pulled off the shelf at Ross and preparing to steal them. I vehemently explained that this is far from the truth and that our ingrained morals and ethics will not allow us to even consider doing such a vile act. The Manager goes on to say that this customer told a Ross's employee who then told the him, the Manager. Therefore, the Manager allowed the customer to continue to take it upon himself to follow and intimidate these boys based on a customer's assumption.
Let's make this very transparent, my ethic/racial background is categorized as black and the customer and Manager visually appeared to be white. Once the Manager explained what they were thinking, my immediate reaction was racial profiling! I told the Manager, if he thought this was true; that my boys walked in barefoot and walked out with shoes after not paying, then he should have approached me and not use his cowardly intimidation tactic or at least watch the security footage. Also, I explained to him if he was able to effectively manage a clothing retail store, then he should at least be knowledgeable about clothing/shoe brands as BOTH boys entered the store with shoes that Ross definitely does not sale. I spoke very clearly and concise to this Manager that I have no need to steal from Ross or anywhere for that fact. My son entered the store with Yeezy Boost 350 shoes and the other boy with Jordan Retro 11 that came out the day before we came into Ross. If you don't know the price for these, then Google it, because I know Roanoke Ross does not currently carry either one of these type shoes.
I expect to hear back from your Corporate office regarding how these boys were mistreated for wearing high-end shoes that were assumed as stolen based on an inept customer, employee and Manager's lack of intelligence.
restrooms
I went to shop yesterday on 4/10/18 @ appx. 3:30 p.M . I went to restroom to find another lady coming out shaking her head saying there was feces all over so i asked the dressing room attendant if she could call someone she said the cleaning crew didn't come till that evening, I asked if she had something I could use to clean it up because i had to go bad, so i went in to look. I could not believe what i saw i took pictures. I came & asked the girl again if the manager on the sign was on she said she didn't think so she was so put out by my questions, i then asked if she used this one or if the employee's had another restroom she said they had their own . Of course they do because none of them would use that one . I will be contacting the board of health ! i tried to add pics but couln't need an e-mail address thanks mary jacobsen [protected]
calvin klein men’s t-shirt
I emailed a complaint a couple of weeks ago and have received a reply. On vacation recently in Florida I purchased a men's t-shirt. On arriving back in the United Kingdom I discovered the t-shirt has a fairly large hole at the back of the neck. I assume this may have been made by a security tag. I unable to return the item as I do not live in the US and am very disappointed with this purchase.

security guard rio rancho nm ross on 4.5.18 at 10:00 am
At just before 10:00 am on 4.5.18 at the Rio Rancho NM Ross location at 3575 Nm Highway 528-, Bldg G, Rio Rancho, NM 87144.
Theft Prevention officer caught on video trying to threaten me because I stated I would be filing a complaint with the Ross Corporate office about her rude, aggressive, and highly unprofessional behavior. Video attached.
At said date and time above I was shopping at this Ross location and picked out two large heavy wood carved bowls. I had only planned on looking at the clothes when I went in and did not have a shopping cart. I asked the lady at the cash register if it was okay for me to leave those bowls up there with her on the counter while I looked at a few more things. She said yes. I went to look at the men's clothes.
When coming to check out the bowls were gone. The cashier lady didn't know what happened to them either. When we were both looking around for them the Theft Prevention guard informs us that she took them away. I explained to her I had already asked the cashier in front of me to hold them for me and she had said she would.
The Theft Prevention officer then falsely stated that she did not know that - she was watching me when I asked the cashier to leave those bowls up there with her. Their were maybe five shoppers in the entire store max. She stands by the cash registers and the front doors watching everything coming and going, happening there.
I continue to check out with the cashier and ask why we are treated like thieves when shopping at Ross. Why the Loss Prevention officers stand right in front of the door, in your path? Why they look at you and watch you like you are a criminal, a thief in Ross. At this time said Loss Prevention officer jumps in our conversation rudely and starts getting aggressive talking about people stealing in there etc.
At this time I pull out a wad of cash from my pocket and show her about $500 in cash and tell her I am no thief and never have been. That I am a business owner and well off. Said loss prevention officer continues to be extremely disrespectful. A Ross employee named "Kat" is walking out of the store and stops to talk to the Loss Prevention lady. Then this "Kat" loudly (so I hear her) says, "Yep, that's your job - protecting our merchandise." I asked for her name, she states "Kat." I ask if she is the manage, she says no and walks out of the store.
At this time said Loss Prevention lady mumbles under her breath, "Everyone isn't white and special."
Gabriel the Manager then walked up and I took out my phone due to her racial comment about me. I began to film so I could then start recording what she was saying. Note, at this time said Loss Prevention officer begins telling Gabriel that I "threatened" her - by stating I would be filing a complaint with the Ross Corporate Office. See video attached.
This Loss Prevention officer had no business mentioning my race. I was talked to very rudely and disrespectfully as well. I am going to pursue this to the fullest extent. My attorney is Boglarka Foghi here in Rio Rancho with the Foghi Law Firm.
Upon arriving home I called the Ross Manager, Gabriel and we were able to talk without the interference of this Loss Prevention officer. Gabriel and the cashier (405573) who checked me out were completely respectful and professional at all times. Gabriel has stated he wrote a report for his own manager as well.
This Loss Prevention lady needs to be made aware that her behavior and words are not going to be tolerated whatsoever and there will be legal consequences for such. A security guard uniform does not mean you have a right to be aggressive and make racial slurs to a Ross customer.
The Ross Regional Manager has dealt with this issue. Number one, this was 10 am in the morning. There were max five other shoppers in the entire store. I left the item with the cashier I was coming to check out with - I ASKED IF I COULD LEAVE THE ITEMS WITH HER - she said yes. Of course you would defend your people you work for/with. No surprise there. As for brandishing money - you have no idea about who I am or what I am about. I don't worry about anyone attempting to take anything from me. Let them try.
I work in loss prevention at Ross. Obviously her comment on race was inappropriate. Otherwise it sounds like she was doing her job.
We are supposed to greet customers and keep an eye on everything in the store. Employees and customers are watched at all times.
Customers are not allowed to leave items up front. If you want to place something on hold you must take it to the fitting room.
I often remove items that customers leave at customer service. Cashiers are busy and may not have a chance to tell loss prevention that a customer is going to purchase them.
Customers leave unwanted items near the front all the time. If we were to let everything remain where a customers leaves it the front end would quickly become chaotic. Dealing with a confusing work space causes employees to work less efficiently.
Loss prevention includes preventing loss from damage. When items are left where they do not belong they may get knocked over and damaged.
Theft isn’t limited to low income people. Many times people will steal despite having money. You’d probably be surprised by what we see daily.
I don’t really know what you hope to accomplish. She will probably be reprimanded for the race comment but will likely still be standing upfront the next time you go in there shop. We have a job to do. You may not understand why we do the things we do but there’s always a reason behind our action.
As someone safety and theft prevention minded I would encourage you to not brandish wads of cash in the future. You may draw the attention of someone who would do you great harm in order to steal a few hundred dollars.
manager and cashier names kris
Long line asked to open another reg manager was rude and dismissed me the cashier decided to lecture me and called me ridiculous at no time did I disrespect him my kids were with me, then he said he was calling police.for what trying to pay? Unbelievably uncalled for humiliating, corp office said they would have someone call me back...nothing disgusting company.
management
An employee worked for Ross for 2.5 months. They were treated like garbage. The manager always made the employee feel bad and they were doing their best without proper coaching. However, they had no problem calling on a day off or asking the employee to stay longer after their scheduled shift. The manager always talked down to the employee and ridiculed the employee. It was grounds for discrimination and harassment. Nothing was ever good enough. It was only with one particular manager. The employee has now left the company and is employed and is making a lot more than they were in Ross.
a same exchange
I had an even exchange, the same item from medium to large belts. Because I brought them yesterday senior day. Shelly the manager in Delray Beach Federal Highway Ross said that I had to pay the difference because I brought them on senior day. The same belts just a different size. So I told her to give me back my money. I have been shopping at ross for many years and this has never been the rule. All the employees especially the managers should know the company rules. Because if they are allowed to make up rules than the consumer is being cheated out of their money and that's not fair.
customer service
I went to Ross to exchange some baby outfits that were too small. I asked an older white haired man with glasses where they took returns he was very rude and said get in line he wasn't waiting on anyone at the time I went to walk up to his register and another man walked up he said I had to get behind him that he was next I was so upset I felt discrimated against and was so upset I handed the things to my son and said he needed to do it I was too upset hurt and angry. So when he did get his turn the man said he could only give him the sale price so 30.00 worth of stuff he got 13 dollars we only had these things one week they were the new styles for spring I went to the rack and found the exact same outfits none of them were marked down. So I was mistreated discriminated against and stolen from all in a matter of ten minutes. Shame on you Ross this is one reason I shop online I hope they go out of business and that hateful man goes to a nursing home where he belongs.

The cashier was very rude she called the security on me in front of all customers just because one of the items I purchased had the wrong price.
To be honest I don't think that was necessary it was something very small that cost less than $5 I spent more than $75 today and I wanted to leave everything there because of the way she treated me
I spent $100 almost every week at your store but with employees like those I will NEVER come to spent not even a penny.
cashier and customer service at the store
Mocking another employee informs of customers... I take very serious bullying specially against elderly and I can believe what I witnessed on Thursday March 8 at 7pm at the Ross location in North Port Fl, when I need it a piece of furniture brought to the cashier area and they send me this woman in her 60s to lifter up, then when she left the front the two cashiers started laughing like this was something it was plan on purpose after the poor lady complained of being to heavy for her. Then the cashier Deedee was her name tells me to make sure to move it to the door area before I go get my car!... so this little 20 something year old think that is amusing to boss around people. I will never buy at this store again and I will make sure people in town know about this time of behavior.
unprofessional & lack of customer service
3/3/18 @ 10PM, I decided I would drive toRoss's in Corbin KY to exchange/merchandise credit for items I had recently accumulated or recently received as a gift that I no longer wanted and never used. Now, I frequent This particular store, always spend many coins, & never encountered ugly service.
I Knew the store closed at 11am so I made my selection, went to counter, my receipt for a necklace I just received on b-day along with a few other things without receipt. Girl asked Steve, department manager, over headset if we could take cback necklace without tag but receipt. He answered with a no and this man is walking toward the counter and I asked if I could just do in store credit in which he growled something. Long story short, this isn't even about me not getting to exchange due to policy or whatever. This is all about an old man who should have simply apologized to customer (me) for not be able to return the item but instead Steve, department manager, insinuated that I brought random items into Ross's that I bought elsewhere. And more than his "I hate my job & my life" type attitude & "[censor] off" tone. A department manager should be there to diffuse an upset customer not ignitiate a confrontation by accusing & falsifying a situation dealing with a repeat, better yet, known loyal customer. I
I understand, it's late, employees were trying to get out that door at 11PM but if the manager can't keep it together until the doors is locked, Steve may need to consider a diff profession and Corporate def should explore other options for store # 1782
There would have been no complaint from me ever, even though this Steve "manager" always gives out negative energy every time I'm there, tonight he picked the wrong lady to disrespect.
Once again, nothing to do with return, exchange, none of that. It is how Steve went about it.
Oh, one more thing, when he walked off from the counter he then procteeded to talk into cashier headset loudly, gee wonder what he was talking about?!?
idiotic/messy/psychotic customers!! beware
I completely understand that all stores have their weird customers. However, after a few months at ross, I can tell you that the people who shop at ross are the worst. You will get devil looking "moms" with kids who puke on the floor... And then the mom wont even clean it up/offer to clean it /get really hostile if you say a single word (for example, I was on my radio to ask if we had gloves, and she was like what is there a problem with her vomit its not like its dirty!/ she went on to complain to the manager because I was "rude and didnt want to clean it up without gloves") I mean isnt that a body fluid aka health hazard? You will get customers who rant and rave about how god will smite us all down. You will get so many customers who just take things off the shelves only to... Leave it in piles on the floor, leaving the shelves empty. You will get customers telling you that you suck because you needed to see an id for a no reciept return and that you cant do the return without a reciept. You will get sick customers coughing right in your face, running your toes over with carts, grabbing you by the arm to ask you something (not gently either!) and so much more. For all of this, you wont make more than $13 an hour (if youre lucky you get $13, if not, $10...). Company works everyone to death; they refuse to give a higher payroll, which means less employees to work, and more stuff piling up in the back. Company has a weird way of watching the cashier in what they call cprs. Your arms better be flying at a million miles per hour if you want a good score; a low 60% or less score will get you terminated. Managers are always stressed out. Never enough cashiers to work with. Never enough people to work in the stock room. Never enough people to clean the store (which, if customers are wondering, is why we all fail to keep a nice clean store. The combination of not enough employees with customers leaving a heck of a mess is a disaster...)
If I werent loyal to my current boss, I would have hightailed it out of ross a few months after getting hired. The customers are so rude and wild its almost amazing. Ross is lucky to have someone dedicated like my manager; again they would have lost me without her, and (not trying to boast...) but more than once have I earned half of the store's daily earnings... My cpr is always 100% and higher. But ive only been working hard thanks to my boss. They lose her, they lose me too because honestly this company doesnt give a rats [censor] about the employees! We had a security in the front once; superb guy. His name was john. Always smiling, such a swell guy. Customers would always tell me how they loved seeing him, and how he made them actually want to come in to shop. Never had an angry customer at him. However, during his lunch break, he injured his knee. Ross workers comp took forever to get back to him; he told me they kept going from accepting to denying his application. They refused to let him use his own insurance. A whole month went by, and his doctor told him that even if he got the surgery done, it took so long that his knee would never fully recover. To hell with ross! He went ahead to see a lawyer; I hope he sues their pants off.
manager/service
The 5900 Sugarloaf Mills Pkwy, Ross, one of your Manager Shewa, she is Verbally abusing the workers, she doesn't know how to speak to the workers, she called one of the workers stupid, and then had another argument with a cashier worker, Mr. Quinton Buford is told about it and does nothing about it, she gossips all the time about other workers, she doesn't do any work, and is not a good worker, we workers do all the work, all Shewa does is complain and yell, she doesn't belong at Ross.
manager
Hello, My name is Sharon Ortiz my husbands name is Luis Ortiz. We have been loyal customers to ross for many years. Today I went to the ross in Pasadena Tx . We were waiting in line to purchase some items. The line was pretty long the wait was about 30 minutes there was only 2 registers open. The manager happened to walk by and my husband asked if they happened to have anymore employees to open another register or if he could help out in the register. The managers named is Albert his response was "That's not my job to open up a register & laughing he also said if you want there is application to apply for a register position. He then turned to the security that was working there and both began to laugh. I was in disbelieve in what he said. Not only to my husband but for everyone to hear in the line was very upsetting and embarrassing. First of all where is customer service?! How dare he say that. I am writing because I'm not sure if this is the way he speaks to customers, but, I will not allow him to speak to my husband & stay quiet. Not sure what happens from here now. I hope I here from someone soon. The location is

We didn't have any problems shopping we found everything we needed but one of the items we got was damaged and when we got to register 2 at checkout I had asked the employee if there was any sort of discount we could get and so she gave me attitude and laughed how it's only a box, I was very upset with the attitude she gave me and didn't say a word to me after that, assuming she knew I was upset .i felt she was very disrespectful and the fact that she laughed was very rude after giving us attitude. We come to this Ross a lot and it's upsetting to know this is how the employee acts when asked a simple question, she could've easily said she couldn't or asked someone instead she didn't . I did get her name was Alheida.
i'm complaints about a rude manager
So to day my family went to shop at Ross 1600 Saratoga Ave, San Jose, CA 95129. Our family picked out some stuffs and our kids got some toys already but then my 2 years old son saw 3 cars on the floor so he came and played with it. Then a manager guy came and told us you can not open it unless you guy paying for it. Then i said no my son did not took it out it was already open. Then he said no he took it our and he saw my son playing with it. I told him it was already on the floor, he can check the camera if wr took it out we will pay for it. That guy asked us to leave because my husband raise his voice and he raised his voice and said he will tell others not to let us buy anything. We told them they can call the police and check the camera but he was so rude.
How can he claim us on something that we not even did. Those cars was attached to the boxed by metal wire. How can a 2 years old boy can bull that out? Even me cant do it. So unprofessional. We come to pay for stuffs not beg for it or stealing it. Sad that i left my phone in the car or else his face going to be popular.
I am complaining about the rude behavior of a lady manager and some of her employee
On January 31, 2018 my friend and I went to this store which I love and I've been coming here to shop for 24 years and it is the first time I've encountered a very rude and very unprofessional manager. I was going to buy a few pairs of shoes for my nephew and there are employees shelving that day and the manager named Lacy came and yelled at me and my friend saying "my employee cannot do their job if you guys are here" I was so embarrassed and disappointed with her attitude towards me and my friend. Pls investigate this lady she cannot even handle her own employee. I saw a lot of her employees holding a marked down Items I thought you cannot put items on hold.
I hope this incident won't happen again to other customers. Being rude to your customers is unacceptable. I hope you guys will investigate this matter I get a little nervous to shop since this very unpleasant shopping experience happened.
I hope this incident won't happen again to other customers
services
Today at 'Fremont Hub' Ross, I went to return (exchange) one of the luggage I bought last week. Unfortunately I didnt have the reciept as I wasnot hoping to return it. Nevertheless I was there and the 'sangeet' store manager (I suppose) was so rude and loud to me. The other lady at the register desk was so polite and even appologised to me once the mange left. I didnt say anything as I was with my 2 year old son. But miss sangeeta, return or dont return if u cant but be polite please. I am paying for whatver am buying, its no free. Even then there is no point being rude. You just lot a customer and got yourself a bad review.
customer service
Today at ross in overland park kansas on 95th street the cashier was beyond rude. We were the only customers in line, she proceded to continue her work for up to 3 minutes with no aknowledment to us. When she did decide to ring up or purchases ( well over $100) she did so without one word to myself, my friend or our children. As she rang up our purchases i said " Hi! How are you today?" her response was " I was going to speak to you" . this well into 5 minutes of standing with no customers beside us in sight. Our kids were uncomfortable and intimidated by her loud and rude response. This woman needs reprimanded and/or should not be in customer service or retail. If it is helpful the receipt # is [protected]. I would like to hear back on this matter.
